It seemed every class in the school had tests coming up. Certainly all of Falys's, but everywhere were complaints about this or that class having a test or exam the same week. It was neither finals, nor midterms, just an unhappy coincidence it seemed. Falys didn't mind in the slightest, she had made sure she had at least read ahead in all of her classes. The practical application classes, like Potions and Transmutation, those she didn't feel as confident in, simply because she couldn't work ahead on the projects without the use of the lab and a partner, and finding someone willing to work as far ahead as her was proving a bit difficult.

She had assumed the studious atmosphere was pervasive throughout the school, returning to her dormitory for a night of low-intensity studying herself, with perhaps some recreational reading afterwards. However, her plans were thwarted within ten minutes of settling on her bed, when her mysterious neighbor returned to their own dorm and turned up their ever-present pop music. One of these days, Falys was just going to snap and...

Sullenly closing her book, Falys decided it wasn't that day, not yet at least, and she slipped on her shoes to head towards the library. Hallway traffic was starting to dwindle into the evening, but the library was still bustling. In a silent sense of the word; it was busy but thankfully quiet. There didn't even appear to be any free tables... So the choices were to either return to her dorm and make use of some more of those uncomfortable earplugs her father sent her, or to simply share a table with someone.

She spotted another witchling, with long, pinkish hair, occupying a table near the corner. Navigating towards it, she stopped at the chair opposite and cleared her throat pointedly. "Excuse the interruption, but may I sit here?"

Everyday, at a quarter-past six, Ruria Lockewood was seen journeying towards the library, black cat handbag draped across her arm, jingling gently with an array of small charms she had on it. Cute slices of cake, tantalizing pastry charms, A couple cute and colorful fox faces, some pretty little lanterns....A skull, a bat, a bat skeleton, the grim reaper, a femur. She seemed....to put it bluntly, a potpourri of opposite.

It didn't take long for her to accumulate a vast quantity of books...mostly about Manipulation Magic and the Dark Arts. There were a few books that discussed Necromancy, but unfortunately, Ruria lacked the real feel for the art, even though she had so wished to understand it. She had just opened up a copy of Benign Yet Bewildering Jinxes when she heard a voice above her.

Cherry hued orbs met cerulean ones staring down at her. She eyed the girl's straight black hair, her prim-and-proper stature. She seemed like one who might be on the student council, or even leading it. Ruria scuffled some of the books off the table, piling them onto an already dangerously-tall stack on her right. "By all means, please do."
She waited for the girl to take her seat, before speaking again. "The library isn't usually this abundant with people,"
she said. "It's a bit annoying, actually. I can't even read my copy of Deadly Dirges of the Depraved without getting unusual stares."
She gestured to the book, which moved softly, as if it breathed. But then, it wasn't uncommon for the books to have strange qualities, at least, not in this library.

As various books were shuffled into a pile, Falys kept her expression as schooled as possible, and away from the dismayed shock she actually felt. The few titles she could read while making a disciplined effort not to gape at them set her immediately on edge. Belted spines, cracked leather covers, armored edges, many practically screamed dark magic. One or two were obviously from rare collections; their busted or dismantled locks attested to having likely been taken from a...personal collection. Practical application of magic was regulated outside of class, and though Falys wasn't taking any classes in the darker arts, she suspected that area of magic was quite strict. Even to the point of... Was that a book on Necromancy?!

Nothing to be done about it now. She'd spoken her request and it'd been accepted. It'd be extraordinarily rude to turn back now. She slid carefully into a seat, not touching any of the foreign books as she set her small stack neatly down. "Thank you, very much." Sliding out her new telekinesis book, Magicks of the Mind, she spared a glance at the rest of the room, filled with busied students. "I hear several classes are giving exams next week. Three of mine are." Potions, Arithmancy, and Transmutation. She decided to leave off that she was already thoroughly prepared for the exams and would be reading mostly for her own pleasure. It would be an impolite boast to say so, and she certainly didn't want to give the wrong impression so soon after meeting someone.

At the mention of the book, Falys's eyes were drawn to it, and she offered what she hoped was a sympathetic smile. "That's very...unfortunate. How conceited, to judge someone on their choice of study. Have you chosen your concentration yet?"
