Nema stood alone, quickly darting her head from left to right. The coast seemed to be clear, what a relief that was! With a few awkward beginner steps, and a few more to gain her composure the female stepped out into the bright sunlight, and allowed the sun to warm her back with perhaps a little too much excitement.
She loved being out in the sun, but being who she was she was forced to spend most of her time hidden in the forest, no one could see her there, and perhaps that was for the best. Because if no one could see you, they couldn't hear you. She giggled to herself as she mentally referenced herself to the age old question of, 'if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?'
Of course she made a sound! But, she wasn't exactly a tree either. Oh well! It didn't matter, it was still worth giggling over.
Shrugging off her giggle fit, after she'd had enough, Nema continued her small trek to the pond she'd been eying for days.

Dark Tide lounged by the pond, he was curled around its farthest edge watching a few fish circle aimlessly in the bright water. For once his brother was not here to pester him. Dark Tide sighed in contentment.
He cocked his head at the sound of approaching footfalls. Now who could that be? Had Ion found him. His face scrunched up in a grimace. Not again! Could that fool give him no peace. Dark Tide sulked by the pond, awaiting the appearance of his brother. As he continued to listen he determined that the footfalls could not possibly belong to Dark Ion because they were too light. Perfect! This meant someone else and he was always eager to meet new people.

"It's just for a little while, it's not like we'll be out here all day! I just want some fresh air, and a cool drink..."
Nema mumbled to the wind as she peeked over her shoulder at the seemingly empty space behind her.
"NO! I'm not going out to meet anyone! I seriously just want to get OUT!"
The more she bickered, the less attention she seemed to put into her careful inspection of the land around her, and that would ultimately be her downfall.
As she took another step, she felt the bottom of her feet and hooves become cooler, and heard the slight ripple the waves made as she idiotically walked right into them.
"Great, now i'm soaking wet, and it's all your fault! You know - one day i'm just going to stop talking to you guys!"
The Mare climbed out of the ankle deep water and shook herself dry, mostly for emphasis to her point, because she really wasn't all that wet at all. It was right about this time, that the mare finally realized she had company...
"Oooooohhhh......"
Was the only thing she could manage to mouth as she attempted to slink away as slowly as possible, hoping that perhaps if she just wished hard enough - she might actually disappear this time...

Dark Tide brought his head up as the mare approached him. He spent the time as she approached, trying to find out who she was talking two. He could tell there were no horses or chosen with her so who could she be talking to? He stifled a laugh when she walked into the water and then acted all disgusted. Finally he couldn't contain himself any more and that was the exact moment she noticed him. "Who are you talking to?" he asked, his eyes burned with curiosity. He loved new things and she was definitely new.

Well this was wonderful! As usual she hadn't been able to will herself away. Sure she could think up a family, but when it comes time to disappear - she just can't do it!
The anxiety was beating hard in Nema's chest as the male stared her down with curiosity. She absolutely hated these situations, but what could you do, it wasn't like everyone walked around talking to invisible horses.
"Who me?!
Oh I was just talking to myself..."
She attempted to put on a fake smile, but she was more than positive she wasn't doing any where a good enough job at it. Of course, she wasn't exactly LYING, but she wasn't telling the truth either.. That was the beauty of a half truth half lies. Technically you were always truthful!
"I'm sorry to barge in on your day, honestly that wasn't my intention. If I had seen you were here, I definitely wouldn't have even come over here!"
Nema's voice got louder and more cracked the longer she rambled.
Great! Not only was she now weird in his eyes, but she was rude too!

"Easy easy girl. I don't want no fuss. i don't mind that you came over here, it is nice to have some new company. Have you seen the fish in here yet?." Ion asked. His two favorite things were mares and fishies. "Hey there is one that looks like you, see?" he points at a particularly colorful fish.

Hmmm this was definitely something new. She had openly admitted to this male that she had been talking to herself, and as though she had never said it; he continued talking to her. His conversation holding no mocking or unfriendly tones. Instead he was talking about .... fish?!
She was definitely caught off guard, but at the same time, intrigued by all this talk of fish. "N-no, I haven't seen the fish, in a really long time...." Her voice trailed slowly as she edged a little closer to the water to look in.
"You're right!" she giggled softly but with a shake of nervousness still present, "It does look a little like me..."
Nema smiled broadly and continued to peer over the edge, at the oddly horselike fish staring back at her.
Silly Nema that's not a fish, that's you.

"Yes, it does look like you, it has a very sweet personality and never fights with the other fish, not like the orange one over there, he is ALWAYS fighting, constantly. I think that is why he has a chunk missing out of his fin, see?" he pointed again at the new fish. Who had a large round chunk missing out of his pectoral fin.
"What is your name miss?" asked Dark Tide. "My name is Dark Tide, my lady." He bowed low, his nose just touched the pond. She was a lovely mare if a little quirky and all mares deserved respect.
"It is a pleasure to meet you." he said.
