One of the very few places anyone could ever expect to see Bul on campus was in the Library. Amongst the river and swampy parts of campus, where he met Calder, the home for all of Amityville's books was practically forgotten to him. It was hard to imagine someone so intune with their fitness to ever stop and read a book though it really was just something he didn't have time for. However word amongst the school and the recent posting of exams got the boil nervous and hyped up. He had JUST asked Mei out and signed his butt up for another class.. not to mention prom was well on it's way! No longer was his room a sanctuary for his idle thought- it reeked of lack of attention, reminder via books and a drumset, and was too familiar for him to lose himself in study. So today he ventured. Today he would make use of the school's resources and energize his thinking muscles instead of his fighting ones.

Scanning the corners of the books and avoiding those that quivered with anticipation- ready to bite the reader once grabbed- Bul stumbled upon a few titles that interested him. How to Create a Living Doll? Maybe.. Mei... but he didn't need to pry too much. Afterall that would be wierd. Reaping what you Sow- A History of Reapers Maybe. The island inhabitants... they had to be reapers.. some kind right? No, remembering the island reminded him why he was trying so damn hard to get further along in the first place. Bruteball Champions. Ah... there was a title he could sit and read. Bruteball hadn't started yet, Thank Jack, but it would certainly help ease some of the stress off his shoulders. Much like his fist fight with West in the fitness club.

Taking the book back to a nearby desk, Bul leaned back in his chair and started flipping through its pages.

It wasn't like Claire liked to read. OH HEYALL NAW, GURL. But the constant messages on groan spring about her spelling were hard for her to handle. She had to do something with her spelling. She couldn't get the reaper from last time to put another spelling spell on her, that was advanced magic and he had since graduated. No, she needed to learn. But how? She'd thought long and hard and the answer was simply this: LIBRARY. Claire was so amazingly smart! How did she think of it on her own? She was just amazing. She was going to read the dictionary. And not just the little one, THE BIG ONE.
So, there she was. In the library, reading the dictionary as she walked. Correction: reading the dictionary loudly as she walked.
"To para...mble...perambulate... walk or... travel through or around... brackets a place or area brackets, esp (is that even a word!?) for plisure...pleasure and in a leasearl---leisurely way. Perambulate."
She made a mental note to somehow use that in a conversation today.

She perambulated to a chair and sat down to continue reading.

Bul's ear's would've flattened if they physically could but this appeared to be unavoidable. Peering up from his very picture-laced book, the boil raised a brow and looked around the shelves and tables to see where this had to be coming from and saw a ghoul trailing around with a large dictionary in hand. Was it worth it to stop her? To bother her of her deep concentration? When he realized he had read the same line thrice about Joe Frightman Bul set the book on the table pages down. Weighing the options of making a complete jerk of himself, Bul decided it was just best to help her from continuing loudly through the library before someone a little less subtle approached her.

Keeping a short eye on his book (though deciding to grab it with his tail before leaving) Bul stood and approached the shorter ghoul cautiously as not too spook her right out of her chair. "Uh.." At this point he was hoping she just had headphones in her ears and wasn't aware of her speaking aloud. "Yo... are you- whatcha reading there?" There was no subtle way of going about this he slowly came to realize.

"Dictionary. I am going to be very good at spelling and grandmother when I am done. Are you good at spelling and grandmother?" She said politely to the boil, not picking up any hints at all. "Everyone says I'm awful at spelling but I'll show them! I will! What are you reading?"
She just thought he was being polite. He was very tall... Claire wondered if she was secretly wearing high-heels. Sure, that wasn't very manly, but she was getting more sure by the minute that he was infact wearing them. Boils these days.
Claire wondered who this boil was. He didn't look like the type who would regularly want conversation and he looked slightly irritated or confused (she wasn't sure) in fact, this conversation was very puzzling. Was he going to tell her off for reading the dictionary? Was he going to bash her up for some unknown reason? Her face suddenly fell.

"Good... at grandmother? Well for starters I don't think grandmother would be er.. politically correct in my situation.." Bul trailed off.

Grandmother? I can understand spelling but.. wait what?

"Pffft dude no I'm terrible at spelling too. Doesn't really matter really if you know how to spell just as long as it looks right, right?" he laughed a tad then brought his tail up in front of him and dropped the book in his hands. "Just lookin through this. It's all bruteball history since yanno, tryouts and stuff coming soon." He took this opportunity to really assess what she was reading. It definitely was a dictionary for sure.. she didn't have that wrong and neither did he. So what did she mean by...

"I just came over cause I heard you talking I almost thought you were listening to something and repeating it but wasn't sure. Did you er... need some help with anything?" What else could he ask and what could it hurt? Besides maybe the grandmother part for sure..

Claire held up her index finger as she multitasked. "Grandmas! I'll search it up for you in my dictionary. That's what I thought! But everyone on the interweb said stuff like 'hey claire go learn to spell and stuff! It was unfortunate." She'd just seen the word on a page as she flipped through the dictionary. "Bruteball sounds fun! Ah, here we go. The dictionary spells it weird but it says..." she cleared her throat "The whole... sister--system and sructer? of the lang--- NEVERMIND THIS IS TOO HARD. It's when you use full stops and stuff."
She shook her head at the book. SILLY BOOK! It spelled Grandma wrong and the definition was so crazy! Claire thought that if she had written the dictionary she would have made it so much easier.
Claire re-thought the boil. He seemed nice enough and he couldn't spell very well either! Perhaps he would not bash her up.

Bul took a seat next to her while she flipped through the pages, by now losing whatever page he was on (though finding someone as famous as Joe Frightman in it was impossibly easy.). "Grandmas... grandmas.. OH!" it clicked. For a moment he was even beginning to wonder what a grandma was. "Grammar? Is that it? Kinda sounds like a really REALLY dusty grandma or something huh?" he said. Not everyone at Amityville was book smart. He definitely wasn't. It made him wonder what the avarice demon's specialty was.

"Grammar's like one of those things you just kinda get over. It's not that cool. When people can get the jist nobody needs grammar," he shrugged. Realistically though, he clung to it when he could. Sounding intelligent was one of his keys to success in the educational world when his brawn didn't quite cut it. "Well I guess its safe to assume you know how to spell your name right?" he asked.

childs menu
"Yeah... I think the proper term is grandmas, though. Because, well, grandmothers use grandmas, right? I don't know. That's how I say it anyway." she thought about it for a moment before popping a fact to her followers and folow...ees. As she thought, the boil talked about grandmas, or as he and the book called it, grammar. "Yeah, grandmas aren't that cool. Yes of course! C L A I R E." she said smugly as though this was some kind of achievement. "What is your name?" and as an afterthought "how do you spell it?"

Claire tapped her tooth and looked back at the book, picking up new words. There were some naughty ones in there which made Claire giggle. Hehe, 'Sexy'. She may as well look at the definition! Very informative. There were some words in the dictionary which really shouldn't have been words because they were so pointless in Claire's opinion. Really, what was the point of having words that only a few people understand to use in everyday conversation? You'd just look like a snob. she thought to herself as she turned the page. Hopefully the boil wouldn't use any words she didn't know.

That's a relief-

Sometimes Bul gathered the impression from some students that they had the younger mental capacity which convinced him they were just younger in their species than him which always burnt when he wanted to consider himself a prodigy. Not that such a thing could exist for him. "My name is Unstabul. But heh.. just call me Bul. It's pretty short too. B-U-L." When he spelt it out he did everything in his power to avoid speaking slow.

"So Claire... am I saying it right?" he asked, as a nod to her triumph he'd best make sure that well... she did give him the correct spelling. His tail balanced behind him when he leaned the seat back again and propped his clawed toes up on the table lazily, the book he had now sinking to his lap.

Claire liked his name very much. It sounded exotic and exciting! She knew what exotic meant, now. OOOOH I should use it in a sentence!
"What an exotic name!" she said proudly. Bul. Unstabul. Sounds a bit like unstable. And he is tall so maybe he falls over! That is how I will remember it. Word association was something she had read about before in another book.
"Yep, that's how you say it, Unstab-- Unstabul. Wait, I mean just Bul. Okay. Bul, are you going to prom?" She hoped it didn't sound too much like a question with alternate meaning, she had a date already. She just wanted conversation as she read her dictionary to use fancy words and impress people.

king inversitle
"Yea it's pretty cool right? I mean only a monster can have that cool of a name!" Bul beamed. Exotic was.. much more than what he was looking for too. He almost blushed from how glad he was that she called it that.

"Actually yeah. I haven't bought my tickets but I just asked this ghoul out, maybe you know her? Her name's Mei." he said smiling. Now he was curious if Claire had someone to go with too. Her inflexion upon asking was hard to identify. "What about you, are you going? If you really wanna impress peeople there then I could see why you're really into that dictionary now."

childs menu
"Wow! I kind of wish I was a monster now!" She said as she beamed at the boil "I think I follow her on groanspring. Doll girl, yeah? I'm going with Roch. He's a reaper and I actually have only met him once before in person. He's very nice." She thought about Mei, racking her brain to see if they had actually met. She might have seen her around campus, but Claire didn't recall ever talking to her. "Is Mei nice?" she asked him
He seemed nice, so it was only fitting that she was nice too. Otherwise that would be STRANGE.

king inversitle
"Yep. That'd be right." Bul didn't know any other doll girls or at least met any. Heh maybe that book about Doll Girls he nearly picked up early might come in handy. "Roch.. Roch.. I kept hearing that guys' name places. Did he go to open house or- OH that's right the guitar guy. Or.. he didn't have it there but he wanted it that's right." he smiled. At least he knew who the guy was.

"And oh yes Mei is very sweet and kind! I uh.. I don't recall if I saw you at the scarentine dance but that's where we met. I think it's pretty cool we're gonna get to go to prom together after that."

Bul leaned forwards now this time resting his elbow on the table and cheek in his palm. "What race are you anyway?" he asked rather off subject. "Obviously not ghost or monster right?"

childs menu
"Yes he has a guitar! And he has purple hair. That's him. Ohhh I didn't actually end up going... I had a cake that I needed to eat. Important stuff. I was going to go with Aksaja but he went with some other girls and then I was going to go with Lilith but I had a cake... you know" she wondered what the dance was like. Perhaps there was cake there, too? She wanted cake now. "Avarice demon, gluttony. My dad's a sloth avarice, same with Barth, my brother. People often think I'm a monster, though. I could pass for one, huh! How about you, Bul?"

king inversitle
"Cake.. mmmn..." Bul licked his lips and grinned. "Yea.. I dunno... if Mei didn't offer to go with me I would've loved to gorge myself in some cake.." he laughed. Either way the night ended perfectly. If only he could share a cake with Mei but she couldn't eat it. Cake flavored gum on the other hand, if he could find such a thing, would be a cute little gift treat.

"Barth's pretty cool. Kicks some butt at paintball I'll tell you that-" he said then turned his head. "Oh yeah how so? I don't think I'd notice right away since I'm a monster- you knew that already but I mean I'm a half beast. Just a mush of monsters. I think at one point on my mom's side they had a sudden liking for reapers or something I don't even know. Wouldn't matter, I'm pretty sure all that's left of that is purely looks." He'd yet of course to notice Claire's stomach.

childs menu
Claire let out a belly laugh as she saw another naughty word-- literally. It wasn't such a good thing, though... Her stomach had opened and bye bye went the dictionary.
"Oops..."
This could mean trouble she thought as she quickly stood up. "Um... I should go. This is the second time this has happened and I don't think the library ladies would like it so much." she didn't really want to go, she liked talking to Bul. He was her new friend. At least he could read in peace, now. "Hey, uh, it was nice talking to you! I'll add you on groanspring and I'll see you at the prom, yeah? By the way, you should get Mei a stuffed toy with some gum. She'd like that, I think." Claire had been looking at her groanspring page "Catch you later!"

And then Claire (in a hurry) left the library.

Curiosity.. Bul was completely baffled by the noise that she just made. "What the..." He left her with the benefit though of not having to explain herself to him when suddenly the entire dictionary disappeared INTO HER STOMACH.

"I guess I can see what... you meant now.." he paused and watched as she grew uneasy. "Aw well... if you're sure?" he said. Heh good for her eating the school books. It made him happy to think how many people who loved books so much it pissed off. Nodding along he smiled. "It was cool meeting you Claire I'll see you around maybe before prom even I dunno," he said with a wave then sneered. "You show them who's boss at spellng and grandma!" He could consider that a little inside joke of theirs now if she wouldn't be bothered by it. The ghoul was pretty cool and it warmed his heart that she cared enough to suggest a gift for Mei.
