Haley waited in the tent, excited for her friend to arrive. Hopefully the directions she had texted him were clear enough. Granted, the tent was in the middle of the woods with no very obvious landmarks to make the navigating any easier, but he should be able to find it okay. Besides, Kam was a big guy - he could fend for himself in these woods where the most dangerous thing you'd find is a runaway camper. Or a wolf. Either way, Haley figured Kam would be able to take them.

There was plenty of time before it would start to get dark - it was only three in the afternoon, and Haley had quite an activity planned for the day: shrooms. It had been a while since Haley took a hallucinogenic, and she was excited to get back to it. Normally she would be safer and keep a sober friend to watch over them, but instead she figured she could just limit how many she ate so her trip level doesn't get too high.

Anxious to get started, she grabbed her seven year old cellphone and texted her friend: "r u lost?"

Just as Haley's text went through, a phone blared somewhere close by and a deep voice groaned as it was quickly shut off. Then Kam was there, throwing back the flap of her tent with a brow raised at her.

"Can you be anymore impatient?"

He crouched low beneath the now open tent flap and shifted until he could cram his bulky form inside the flimsy material. Kam didn't mind the woods, or the wilderness, and actually preferred it as a break from everyday city life. He and tents rarely got along, though, most especially because of their size.

He just sat down as comfortably as he could, pulling his knees up and letting his arms drape comfortably over the tops of them. He glanced at the inside of the tent and gave it a quick inspection, or at least made it seem like he did, before his eyes settled back on the teenager.

"I heard kids laughing not too far off. You sure you're not close enough to get us caught?" Kam and authority, not always a good thing.

“Sorry, I just wanted to make sure you didn’t get attacked by a bear or anything. That would be very bad for the bear,” she teased with a grin smeared across her face as the large Indian man tried to make himself comfortable inside the small tent. “You look comfortable.”

She grabbed her backpack and started digging through it as she babbled on. “This area should be fine. I had set up the tent closer to the campgrounds before, but a park ranger told me to move further back. It was funny. He had actually caught me smoking but didn’t recognize the smell, so there wasn’t any issue. Who the ******** doesn’t know what it smells like?” Aha! She pulled out the small bag of shrooms and playfully dangled them before the boy before gently tossing the bag to his feet.

“I didn’t pack too much, only five and a half grams,” she explained. “Just so that we don’t have a bad trip alone in the woods, we’d be with it enough to help each other out. But it should be enough for us to both have a fun time.”

"It would have been okay," he shrugged in his awkward position, though it was barely noticeable, "I need some new boots anyway." The only thing that hinted he was joking about skinning a bear was the small curl of his lips at the corner of his mouth, almost hard to see in the shadow of the tent.

"Maybe some dumb a** that spends his time patrolling a park?" He answered her question with a raised brow and a partial sneer - what kind of serious job was park ranger? Unless the dude was using his time to get high in the woods, but Kam somehow doubted that.

As she dug out the bag of mushrooms and dangled it in front of the face, he swept one large hand out and tried to grab it before she could yank it back. He was slower though and it was flopped at his feet before he'd even registered it. He offered her a smirk and a small shake of his head that sent his dreadlocks swaying, but reached out to grab the bag and hold it at eye level.

"Should be enough." Not that he was worried about his ability to perform under the influence - he and Meri had done just fine against that youma. Not that he could tell Haley that of course. He opened the ziplock and fished out a mushroom to exam. It wasn't that he didn't trust Haley's particular expertise in the matter, but he had learned a long time ago that it was better to be safe than sorry with this sort of thing.

After a moment he just nodded appreciatively at it and collected his share in one gargantuan hand. Then he held the bag back out for her with a raised brow.

Haley half-frowned at the boots comment and shot him a glare. She wasn't totally sure if he was joking, but she bit her tongue, kept her mouth shut and assumed she was. She made herself more comfortable in the tent - moving her backpack and rolled up sleeping bag tightly into the corner to create more space while Kam inspected the mushrooms.

"Easy now," she said as she took the bag with her share from him. "Don't chew those up all at once, keep a good pace." She took her first shroom out of the bag and popped into her mouth with a proud grin.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A few shrooms later, and the effects had definitely kicked in. The nineteen year old laid down on the floor, her head propped up by a pillow, looking up at the ceiling of the small tent. It was breathing. The walls of the tent were moving, slowly expanding and contracting at a comfortable slow pace, as if she was inside of a healthy lung. The smell of the trees and nature outside of her tent were strong, smelling like the sweetest smell she had ever smelt - and the sound of the birds chirping were as purple as ever.

"Kaaaam," Haley said, turning her head to look over to him. His dreadlocks wobbled as his tattoos ran away from his skin. "You better look out, your tattoos are melting off of you." She laughed, aware that it was just a hallucination, but comfortable and giddy enough to comment on it anyways.

Kam didn't waste any time following Haley down the yellow brick road into mushroomland. That was how that went, right? Regardless, by the time she rolled over to comment on his tattoos, he might as well have been in a magical land full of munchkins and flying monkeys.

"What?" he breathed at her when she called his name, too afraid to speak loudly in case the sound exploded around them. He was leaned back into the flimsy wall of the tent behind him, smiling as the flexible fabric twisted and cocooned around him. It felt safe.

His eyes rolled down and narrowed on his tattoos, but he couldn't see what she was trying to say. Instead the dark, thick lines raised up on his skin like a maze and he reached out with his other hand to brush over the tops of them. With a furrowed brow, he plucked at one and tried to pull it away but as his fingers closed around it and pulled they came away with nothing. His tattoos were always endless entertainment for him at times like these, he was never sure what they were going to do.

"I think they're staying in place, kind of." He gave them once last fearsome glare and then looked up at her where she was splayed out on the floor of the tent. For a moment he stared at her like he was unsure of what he was seeing, then he managed his best smirk (though it was a little sloppy considering).

"You're going to get stuck down there."

"Well keep an eye on them, you don't want your tattoos running away," she nodded with some seriousness before cracking a smile.

Haley laughed as she felt her hair slither across her body. Her hair was feeling like it was made of snakes, like the head of Medusa. And more than that, her hair was whispering. She couldn't make out any words that her hair was saying to her, but it was definitely saying something - and something that smelled like blue. Almost immediately after Kam told her she was going to get stuck, she felt her hair become more menacing and start to wrap itself around her - even around her neck. She leapt up in the tent to shake the hair off her, but of course, it was attached to her head so that was pretty ineffective.

"Oh my god, my hair was attacking me," she gasped. The sensation of being wrapped or tied didn't quite fade yet, even though her hair was now falling straight down. Her skin felt like it was tight around her body (which felt rather cozy) and her clothing felt a bit suffocating (not so cozy). Furthermore, the tent continued to look like it was breathing, but was contracting far more than it was expanding. "We should get out of this tent before it collapses."

She offered her small hand out to the much larger man.

Kam's eyes widened considerably as the giggling, tiny girl leapt to her feet and began to flail around the tent. He was sure that she was going to lose her balance and fall on him, which at that moment seemed completely devastating despite how small she was compared to him.

A frown formed on his face as his eyes rolled up to the ceiling of the tent where it just brushed her head.

"I think you're right," it was a mumble, like the words they were speaking were some great conspiracy behind the tent's back. He reached out and gripped her hand in his, then yanked on it to try and pull himself up. Unfortunately, in his 'special' state of mind, he didn't consider the physics in a tiny girl like Haley supporting all of his weight and this time she did come crashing down on him as he slumped back into the floor.

Despite his previous fears, her fall made him burst into a fit of laughter that he couldn't contain and he simply sat there in the two-man pile up with his whole body shaking from his amusement.

Haley fell ontop of the large Indian man, laughing as she fell. Her hair draped down onto his face, and she brushed it aside to be less of a mess. She felt her hair tingle with his dreadlocks – as if her hair was playing with his, telling secrets to each other. She even heard them whisper some. She was definitely tripping, no doubt about that.

A thought then emerged in her tiny, tiny, itsy-bitsy hallucinating mind that perhaps Kam’s pulling her down was no accident. Was he coming on to her? After all, they were alone in a tent and were about to leave – pulling her down made her stay inside. She wouldn’t be opposed to the idea, she was looking for a new special friend after Alex.

“You want to hook up with me, don’t you?” she teased as she rolled over back to her side in the tent, making a bit more of a comfortable distance between them – just so that it wouldn’t be too awkward if he said no. But why would he say no? Under her hallucination, she was hotter than ever. She vainly flipped some of her hair over her shoulder.

Even in his slightly off state of mind, Kam wasn't blind to the possibilities of that pleasant accident. Despite the fact that it had been entirely unintentional, as soon as Haley fell on him it kicked his male brain into overdrive. It didn't help that the mushrooms were heightening everything so that even the tiny brush of her hair over his skin made it crawl, like there were tiny spiders underneath it.

Oh, no, no, no - don't think about spiders.

He forced his attention away from paranoia and back onto Haley as she rolled away from him. The warmth of her body vanished instantly and left a freezing cold behind, one he was sure was half his imagination. Instead of catching mushroom pneumonia he rolled forward until he could loom over her with one hand braced on the ground on the other side.

"Why wouldn't I?" He managed a sly smirk as he said it, an accomplishment given his current state of mind. Even if this wasn't really his idea, he could pretend it was.

"There's no reason to not," she faked arrogance. Perhaps it was the drugs, but she felt incredibly sexy at that moment. In fact, she was pretty damn sure the words "SEX BEAST" were circling around her in a festive font with colorful lettering and playing beautiful jazz music. And it seemed that he was into it, and she didn't have any problem with that.

She shrugged, and figured she'd just go for it. She whipped off her shirt, pulling it over her long hair.

--------Some amount of time later...---------

Haley pulled up her denim shorts and buttoned them. "Toss me my shirt will you? Before it crawls away like my bra tried to." The effects of the drugs were still lingering, although she was less conscious of the fact she was hallucinating, and more accepting of the hallucinations being a reality.

Who was pleased with himself? Kam was. While Haley was busy putting all of her clothes back on, Kam was stretched out comfortably in his boxers, taking up the majority of the room on the floor. One arm was behind his head and the other was held up as if he were holding a cigarette, or maybe a cigar. The way he was staring at it made it seem as if he couldn't decide if the smoky apparition was real or not and, if it was, whether or not he should try to smoke it.

"What?" he blinked a few times and glanced up at her as if he had just remembered she was there, then rolled over and stretched out a hand to try and grab the t-shirt thrown into the corner. He grimaced as the space between them spread out, farther and farther, until he made one last lazy lunge and hooked it with his pointer. Then he held it up, like a flag, until she took it.

After a second he actually bothered to hook his jeans with one foot, drawing it up to him in the laziest way possible, and pulling them on without even getting off of the floor. It was a scramble with a few butt hops, but he did it. That was as much effort as he felt like bothering with then, though, because he didn't even start to look for where his shirt was hiding.

He just stood and flicked her hair with one finger, then began to fumble with the tent opening. This had been much easier sober.

"Thanks," Haley said, scooping up the shirt from his finger and pulling it over her head. She half-smiled as he flicked her hair - with the drug in effect, it tickled her slightly. Her smile was completed only as she watched him try to open the tent door. She stood up and grabbed the zipper to the tent and quickly opened it, letting the hallucinated sounds of trees' whispers to fill the tent.

"That was fun, we should do it again sometime, sport," she said as she gave him a congratulatory pat on the a** and crawled through the tent exit. She breathed in the fresh air and looked up at the violet, glowing sky. All the colors of the woods were so much more vivid and brighter, and each carried their own waving glow. The sounds of the rustling leaves were amplified, as were the sounds of the few birds chirping in the trees. "Do you hear that? Its beautiful, isn't it?"

A sigh of relief passed his lips as Haley simply unzipped the tent for him, finding that he wasn't managing to do so very easily when the damn thing kept purposefully sliding out of his hand. Zippers were such pesky little devices when they wanted to be.

He followed her out with an amused smile after the baseball asspat, stretching his arms over his head and taking a deep breath that puffed his chest out. For such a big tent, he suddenly felt like a giant stepping out into the open after a long hibernation. Why did humans live inside, again?

"I agree, and not half as terrifying as sky scrapers in the middle of a trip." He had tried that once and decided it was the ultimate bad idea of bad ideas. So bad that it practically redefined the definition of bad.

"Though I wish these trees would move out of the way so I could see the sky better, that's for damn sure." He dropped his arms and crossed them over his chest instead, almost in a sulking motion, and tried his damnedest to peer through the branches overhead. He was convinced that every time he got a clear view of the sky they would shift, like a jealous child trying to hide their favorite toy.

She twisted around at her waist, cracking her lower back, her long hair waving to and fro as she stretched and cracked her joints. Each pop and crack of her back echoed through the forest in her hallucinations, leaving behind the sound of a soft buzz and ring.

"We could go down to the lake," she suggested. It probably wouldn't be wise to take a swim in their state of mind, but they could get a better view of the sky and splash around in just the shallow end - if they were smart. "I bet the lake is beautiful like this."
