Griffin, ever the camper and adventurer, found herself frustrated by the down time of the campers. Well, at least down time for her. There wasn't anything for her to do at the moment while kids were all occupied with other activities, be it dance lessons or macaroni art. She needed something to do. A hike? Perfect! Now she was looking for someone to do it with. Talia? No. Moose? Yesss.
Happily she was poking around, here and there for her friend and soon-to-be hiking companion. Things had been so peaceful at camp. It was just the break she needed from her senshi life. Although didn't that mean that she was leaving people vulnerable to attack in the city? She tried to dismiss that thought from her mind. She was probably the only sailor scout at camp. It'd be silly for any others to be here. Destiny City was a big place, it had to have plenty of other scouts to keep it safe. Right?
Now was her time to relax. Her vacation. And her time to hike. "Moooooooooose. Where are youuuuu?"

Talia had been so busy helping some sniveling kid patch up his knee that she had forgotten about her scheduled hike with Griffin.
Scratch that, forced hike with Griffin. Talia wasn't much of a nature girl, and it wasn't a secret. Still, some part of her was giddy to try something new. She adored taking challenges, and was trying her best to just see this hike as a new challenge. A new experience.
Seeing her friend, she called out "Jesus Griffin, did you have to pick a hike so far out?" At least Talia wasn't out of shape. Still, being so far away from the camp was both a bit exciting and a bit scary. Scary, because if they were to, like, die out here, no one would find the for a while. Exciting, because it was an adventure, of course!
Finally she reached Griffin and pulled her hair up. "Sorry to keep you waiting. Some kid had a bloody knee and wouldn't stop crying," she said, as she brushed some bangs out of her face. She really did feel bad for the kid, but since it had delayed her from her time with Griffin, Talia was a bit upset.
Taking a deep breath of the fresh air, Talia didn't think it was all that bad. Nature could be okay, sometimes. Sometimes. "So where are we headed?" Talia asked.

"Moooooooose! DON'T CALL ME THAT!" She stamped her foot down. She was not to be called Griffin this week unless there were absolutely no children about. In front of campers, she was to be known as Hawkeye, after the world's finest scuba-diving cat. Not that she ever told anyone the origin of her camp name. She also liked how it was a play on her real name. Hawk? Griffin? Clever.
"And yes. Yes I do." She stuck her tongue out at her friend. She didn't mind the wait, though. Griffin was patient and always early, so she was accustomed to it, no matter who she was waiting on. She reached back to her small, light-weight back pack and pulled out a map of Camp Larkspur. Next she produced a compass from her pocket. She pointed to the corner of the map and said, "We are going hiking here. It's not as far as it looks, the scale of the map is pretty big- well, for a map. Only a few miles round trip." She nodded confidently. "We'll be back way before it gets dark, no worries!"
As she was talking, she began leading Talia to the trail they'd be taking. It wasn't that well-traveled. Not one where they'd take the kids, but it was safe for experienced hikers. And their friends.

Talia grinned in amusement. A new way to torture Griffin? Yes please. "Oh I'm sorry Griffin. I forgot I can't call you Griffin. Oops I just called you Griffin again. Oh there I go again Griffin! GRIFFIN GRIFFIN GRIFFIN!" Her shouts scared a few birds out of the trees. Why Griffin cared at all was beyond Talia. They were miles away from the camp, buried in an old growth forest with big tall ugly trees. If anyone could hear them at this point, they would have to be magical or something.
Shoving Griffin playfully, Talia said, "How did you even come up with the name 'Hawkeye.' You are such a dork!" She meant it playfully, not harmfully. Talia glanced over at Griffin's shoes; extremely manly man hiking boots. Bashfully, she looked at her own converse and kicked the dirt floor. "Ah ... we weren't supposed to have nice equipment, right?"
"Only a few miles!" she exclaimed. It's not like that was super far, but what if the trail was steep or something? What then? "Griffin did you check the ah ... topography of the area?" On the way up to the camp, Talia had noticed quite a few drop off cliffs. Maybe Griffin had done her research. They would be okay, right?
Fat chance.
"You better not get me killed okay? 'Cause if you do, the world will come to mourn my funeral, and they will all be mad at you for robbing the world of one of the," She paused looking for the right word. With a sly smile, she quickly covered and said, "greatest human beings ever!" With a grand sweep of her arms, Talia gestured to her body as if to say "this Griffin."

Griffin harrumphed at Talia's name-calling. "Well whatever, MOOSE." She tried to make it echo, but the dense forest muffled most sounds except the occasional crack of a limb or call of a bird. She chose not to respond to how she'd come up with 'Hawkeye'.
Nice equipment? "Well, I brought my own." Of course she brought her own. She'd packed light for such a short (in her opinion) hike, but she had plenty of water and snacks for just in case, and two flashlights even though they should be back to the camp before sunset. Just in case. She waved her hand without looking back at Talia, "Of course I did." She pulled a map out of her backpack and it was indeed a topography map. She had this in addition to the Larkspur one, one of the forest's trails and then the one she held now. She was the teenage female equivalent to the cub scouts. Always prepared!
"Pfffttttt. Talia, I've been hiking since I could walk," not really, "I know what I'm doing. So if you died it wouldn't be my fault! And I wouldn't go to your funeral!" She tossed her hair in defiance. At that moment, out of the corner of her eye, she saw movement, something dark and bulky, and heading towards camp. It was no bear. Nor lion, nor tiger. Even from the distance she could tell it was a youma. Why? Because it looked like a moving tree. Seriously, who wouldn't notice that? Well, apparently Talia hadn't.
But oh shiiiiiiiiiii- ...
"Uh, Talia! Uhm, wait here! I need you to wait here! I have to scout ahead, I think I lost the trail and only I can find it because I have the map, okay?" She was frantic, she'd have to stop the youma before it got to camp and the kids, and also keep Talia safe. And not let her find out about her secret senshi identity. She threw her things at Talia and did her best to make her running off seem nonchalant.
Once she got to a safe enough distance away, she took her henshin pen out of her pocket. "Maenalus Power, Make-up!"
The senshi of mountains was completely in her element, and she knew she'd have to make it quick. Now all she had to do was lead it away and dust it.

"Glad we got that settled, Griffin," she said mischievously. Why couldn't they just get along like nice children? They could really learn a lesson or two from the children they were supposed to be watching out for.
Talia didn't trust Griffin as far as she could throw her. Sarcastically, she commented, "When they find our dead bodies, just know that they'll think I was the prettier one!" Because she was. C'mon. Okay maybe Talia was jealous of Griffin's pretty eyes and her nice fashionable hair.
But she was still the prettier one.
"I would go to your funeral, and cry my eyes out Griffin," she said to her left, where Griffin had previously been located. Now there was nothing. "G-Griffin?" What the ********, where had she gon-
Oh there she was. Running ahead. Leaving Talia alone.
WHAT THE HELL?!
Talia immediately began to chase after Griffin, but it was no use. The brunette bimbo was already too far ahead. Talia glanced around. What was she supposed to do now?
It was then that she noticed something rather interesting, and mundane at the same time. The trail. It was right beneath her feet. She was no outdoorswoman, but even Talia could tell that the trail was right there. What was Griffin up to? Maybe a surprise marshmallow roasting? That would be fun. Greedily, Talia licked her lips at the thought of s'mores.
Her lust for chocolate goodness was immediately interrupted by a big bulking shadow lumbering through the trees. Holy s**t. Were there bears here?!
No wait, it was getting closer. It wasn't a bear but... a tree? A MOVING TREE?!?!

There was a youma in the woods. WHY there was a youma in the woods, the guardian cat did not even know. She hadn't sensed anything from the Negaverse in the area, so it was truly a surprise that there would be a youma by the camp. Maybe it was a stray youma that had traveled very far and was now reacting because there was a camp? ********* didn't know, nor did she venture at the moment to try and solve this mystery.
What mattered was that there was a girl who was in the pathway of said rampaging youma!
A girl, who ********* had a sneaking suspicion was a Senshi.
From seemingly nowhere, the cat fell from the sky (or rather, an overhanging branch from a different non-youma tree), and landed quite firmly on the girl's shoulder. Any sane person would have been startled by such a sudden addition of extra weight to their shoulder. So to start everything off, ********* simply cried out "Sorry about that! Don't just stand there, run!"

Talking cat.
Moving tree.
TALKING CAT AND A MOVING TREE WHAT THE HELL?!?!
Lucky for the cat (WHO WAS TALKING), Talia ran almost completely on instincts. She was already running the ******** away from that ... thing. This was the second time she had felt like this. Confused about what the hell was attacking her. She recalled the old weirdo knight man who had helped her from a giant movie prop. Talia had the same weird feeling about this tree thing.
Unfortunately, those instincts backfired on *********. The moment ********* landed on her shoulder and started talking, Talia whacked her off. It wasn't exactly the nicest response, but with a tree moving and attacking her, things landing on her shoulders weren't exactly taken with kindness.
When she finally focused for a minute, she realized the cat was ... well sort of trying to help her. "Look I'm sorry uhm ... cat," she said hesitantly. "but this is too much! What the hell is going on at this damn camp." After days in front of children, it would've felt relieving to curse, but now wasn't exactly the time to reverie in that.
That's it, Talia thought, I've gone bonkers. Goodbye Crystal Academy, hello institute for the insane. Still, Talia did follow the cats advice to an extent. She was running like her life depended on it.
Because it did.

A backhand to the face. That was quite unpleasant, if anything. With a tiny yowl, the cat fell off of her shoulders, but sturdily landed on her feet. The girl had started to run, and the cat shook herself off for a moment in an effort to regain her composure before also starting up her own paws.
"That creature behind you is called a youma... I don't know how it got all the way out here... but we need to find some place safe to hide from it for a moment." It sounded like an easy enough plan, though the execution might have been a bit more difficult to pull off. After all, the youma was behind them and would probably see any turns they made off of the path.

"A youma?!" Talia shouted back at the cat. Well, if she was headed to the loony bin, she might as well do it with style. "Safe place kitty? I got it!" Talia paused for only a moment to pick the cat up and run off. "Sorry for hitting you earlier!"" She panted.
Talking cats and youma. Sure. Why the hell not.
Luckily, the forest was feeling a tad forgiving tonight. There was a slight downgrade on the path, covered with soft, cushy Ivy. Talia ran down the hill, cat in tow, stretching her legs out more than they should've been. If she had the choice between sore legs and youma impaling, she'd choose the legs every time.
The tree was still at the top of the hill, carefully ambling down the hill. Seems like it was a bit less sturdy than the average human. Talia saw a little bump in the forest floor, and ducked behind a rather large set of trees and rocks. Panting, she said, "Okay little guy, what now?"
This was insane. Absolutely insane. She was talking to a cat! A CAT. At the moment though, it seemed to be her only ally, and Talia appreciated it. She was scared. Big bad Talia Chu was absolutely terrified to her core. Maybe some people greeted senshidom with open arms, but Talia, the soon-to-be senshi was freaking out.

For a moment, her legs continued to run, even though she had been picked up. When she realized that she was in the girl's hands, she stopped and prepared to get tucked away in her arms. One of her legs was pinched slightly, but the manx didn't complain at all. In fact, when they found that temporary hiding place, she didn't complain at being called a guy. She was quite certain her voice was a bit more feminine than that of a fellow.
Rather than disagree with the girl, she gave her a more specific label for the cat. "My name is *********, and I have a couple things for you!" With that, she squirmed and squirmed until she was out of the girl's arms and on the ground. Making good use of the small amount of time they had until the youma was bothering them again, she quickly did one of her graceless back flips, summoning up two items in the space she had just jumped over.
"Take them both... phone and pen. Put the phone away someplace safe for now. You will be using the pen right now though!" What in the world could they possibly be using that pen for?
"Take it, and shout out as loud as you can 'Draconis Power, Make-up!' Use as much feeling as you can when shouting, or it won't work."

The senshi pen and phone floated gracefully into Talia's hands. So she was supposed to take the phone er ... and then ... Wait, did the cat just pull a phone and a pen out of it's a**? DID A CAT JUST DO A BACKFLIP?
Yup. Loony bin. Might as well humor the damn thing.
"Okay kitty. Might as well. This is a dream anyways, we'll just wake up. You're pretty cute though. I have adorable dreams!" she babbled. After all, she couldn't be hurt in a dream, right?
Right.
Raising the pen high above her head, she gave her wrist a quick flick, threw it up, and then caught it. Odd. Talia felt comfortable doing that. Was she secretly a genius baton thrower? Whatever. Time to shout things for no reason! "DRACONIS POWER, MAKE" As she spoke, she dragged the pen across her body, tilted it towards her head and winked. "UP!" she completed.
Suddenly tongues of flame wrapped her body and a gush of magical air tossed her hair in the air. Beads fell down the side of her head, and her fuku materialized, like flames. Her arms flowed out gracefully to her sides and sleeves flowed off of them. It was almost like she was fan dancing, but it was more complete, more magical than that.
Then her transformation was complete, she was ... whole. Talia ... no Draconis turned back to the cat and said, "Wow. Neat. Now what?" She felt like she could fight off a tree. A HUNDRED trees. There was a weird power burning within her, and she felt like she was going to explode.

********* had seen henshins many time before. They all were strangely unique. Even if the fires that wrapped around this new senshi were not going to burn her, the manx still took a couple steps back out of natural instinct. It was when she finished up that the manx pointed out the truth.
"This isn't a dream, Sailor Draconis. You are a Sailor Senshi." Of course, the tailless animal couldn't help but appreciate how eager this girl seemed to be. The tone wasn't the scared version of Now what, but instead seemed to be bursting with energy. She sounded ready.
"Well, first, I'd like to hitch a ride if I could... and secondly, when you see that youma, you need to confront it. Get up close to it and call out 'Draconis Breath of Flame'. You will know what to do from there."
There was a thoughtful pause before she added "Though, be mindful of the area you use this attack in, we don't need to be starting a full fledged forest fire."

Maenalus had just about had it with this treeouma, and while she'd been trying to lead it, she ended up chasing it towards Talia. Wait... Where was Talia?! She hadn't taken her eyes off of the youma for a second, and that was probably how a new senshi showed up in the area without her really noticing. However, there was also an energy signature... One that was familiar. She squinted and looked ahead for who it could be. It surely wasn't the senshi. She'd never met her before in her life. But the little grey ball of fur...
"*********>"
She rushed towards the pair, past the youma, and skidded to a stop in the thick leaf litter. She was so excited to see the cat who had awoken her that she forgot the senshi. "Uh, oh. Hi. I'm Sailor Maenalus." She still was more concerned with *********... But when the treeouma made a particularly loud crash! when it uprooted a real tree, she remembered her business.
"Let's dust this thing!"

Draconis stared at the senshi who had suddenly joined her. "What there are more?" she exclaimed. Of course, ********* wasn't exactly in a place to make idol chat at the moment. *********. So that was it's name. Weird name. Then again, she was Draconis and this new girl was Maenalus. Weird names all around.
********* seemed serious about this whole thing, but Talia knew better. "Alright dream kitty. So this is just like a fight game. I've been playing too many fighter games obviously. Ahaha," she laughed heartily, not truly aware her life was in danger. She reached up to her head and felt the beads that were on the side. "Ooh these are pretty. I like these," she said with a smile.
A loud crash interrupted her musing, and Talia became slightly more alert. "Uhhh yeah let's uhhhh ... dust it?" Was that senshi lingo or something?
********* was asking for a ride, and Talia wasn't about to deny picking up the adorable cat. It looked so ... fluffy. Happily, Talia picked up the cat and said, "Alright, up you go kitty!" Get close and yell out ... whatever the cat said. Something about a forest? Well it made sense, she got the "breath of flame" meant something about fire.
"Alrighty uh ... Maenalus why don't you ... go first? Do we take turns or something?" Talia could not take this encounter any less seriously. Somewhere in the back of her mind she remembered the "machine" and the "knight actor" she met back in the park awhile ago. Now it made sense. The man must've been a senshi too, right? But ... he didn't feel the same as Maenalus. She felt different.
