"Class time kids, please settle down."
They were back in the same room, same arrangement, same chairs. Caelius had at least been nice enough to give the trainees a cell phone message that said only a simple "I will see you in the same room for results of the evaluation". No hint as to what results were, or what 'same room' meant, though the latter was nothing short of obvious.
Next to Caelius, on that very same round table, was a rather large white box. Nothing was written on the box, and remained closed with a simple lid. The Hunter's arm was propped right on top of the box, sealing it firmly shut. He waited for the last few trainees to be seated. "Now, I hope some of you have taken the time to read the textbook handed out generously to you. One thing I hate doing here is, as I mentioned, is wasting time. Classes are of practical value and not theoretical, the what, ifs, buts, and whys you learn on your own time."
"Having said that, I have with me-" he patted the box to emphasize the point - "the results of your evaluation yesterday. Within the box is the result that will determine your future here, and indefinitely. Within the box lies the answer to why you are a part of Deus Ex Machina. It will answer who you are and what you will become."
There was a pause as the Hunter let all the trainees sink in the meaning of the words. "Now, as I call your name, please come stand next to me, don't be shy." The Hunter took out from his breast pocket a small notebook and flipped through it, adjusting his glasses slightly. "Madison Mckenzie, Leon Stone, Robert Morris, Milton Bates, Caitlyn Park, and Maiya Lyons."
With that, he looked at each trainee expectantly, waiting, one hand still on the box. ((OOC: - it is assumed that even if your char was not in the ORP that they participated in it at this point. Please backread at least on page 28 to see the chain of events, if necessary. - If your character is CALLED, simply have them walk up towards where Caelius and the box is standing. Otherwise you are free to rp them entering etc etc, and waiting their turn. Even if you don't rp your character walking up, and they are called, it will be automatically assumed that they will receive the evaluation results. ))

This was it. This was telling them that they had some merit and weren't about to be stuffed back into some pod that was off in the distance. Oh, she didn't want to be stuffed back into the pod. She'd taken the red pill, Agent K. She wanted to see how far the rabbit hole went and joined MiB. Or something like that.
Being awake and aware was a fantastic thing and she needed to be alert.
And aware.
She was paying attention.
Cassandra remained planted in her seat, fidgetting with her skirt anxiously. This was important, this was important, this was important. It had been a long time since something made her feel so anxious. Since something had made her care so much. She cared a lot and it was completely ruining her in that moment.
Her eyes slowly trailed to the rest of the group that was taking up a seat, trying to spot those whom she recognized from talking with in the previous day. She was busy trying to make friends, try and find something resembling 'normal'.
Okay, she was panicking a bit.
This feeling didn't help as the first group of names were called.
She wasn't in it.
ANXIETY LEVEL. RISING. AHH.
Please call my name eventually. Please please please she chanted in her head. She'd found the room again! THat had to count for something r-
OH GOD. IF SHE'D FAILED THEY WERE GOING TO SHOVE HER BACK IN THAT POD, WEREN'T THEY?

Back in the class again, Gale sat with one leg crossed over the other, his hands in his lap. He had debated propping his feet up on the table again, like he had last time, but something about what this meeting was about was slightly unnerving, and he didn't quite dare do anything. Their instructor stood at the head of the table beside a big white box, and Gale eyed it somewhat warily.
This is nervewracking, he thought to himself, eyes flickering around the room at each of the people seated around the table. Ariane, Bix, Before, Ennea, Madison, that girl who had macked on that one dude...
Gale absently rubbed the back of his neck as the first few names were called; his was not among them, and it made him slightly anxious. He didn't exactly know why, but still. They all knew Caelius had his own way of doing things.
Calm down. Just calm down.
...this is bloody intense I CAN'T CALM DOWN.
Gale stubbornly shoved the mildly panicky thoughts from his head and tried to pay attention.

Marcus had gotten the cell phone message and his first reaction? To sigh. Then he re-read it and sighed again. It was going to be like this forever wasn't it? Vague text messages and possible death waiting for him in the following activities. So with a hint of reluctance Marcus had gone and when he'd arrived? Joy of joys. The 'instructor' who pretty much abandoned them. While it had been a test it was still so lame. Just up and pulled a vanishing act. All the guy needed now what a Jedi mind trick of some sort.
Or a Sith force hold. The guy looked like he'd be more Sith than Jedi anyway. The box- had Marcus's interest anyway. Curiosity was in human nature and right then Marcus was feeling very very human. He wanted to see what was in the box. Then as he thought about it he figured he didn't want to know what was in the box. It either: A- Had nothing and the guy wa ******** with them B- Pain and torment in the form of his failure C- Whatever the ******** they suffered in the test D- Rape
Marcus looked at the teacher. Eyes narrowed. His gut telling him that the Box had D. In some shape or another. It seemed fitting to have Rape in a Box here.
Walking over he gave Cass's shoulder a squeeze before bending over her to whisper in her ear. "Calm down Cass. Just breathe." A quick smile and he moved to one of the empty seats down. As he sat, the sight of a short blonde boy caught his eye. Marcus just made a small sup motion towards him.
They all looked nervous. He was nervous. Under his breath he couldn't help but mutter. "We can fight monsters and ******** zombies but this guy shows up and we're all ready to piss ourselves. Jesus Christ." Their instructor dude had the box of rape. Marcus was a seconds away from betting money on it.

Bix sat in the vicinity of Gale and Before, of course and seemed rather fidgety. He wasn't bad with handling test results but it always got him nervous. The word 'FAIL' in big red letters floated through his brain space and he gulped. He looked rather like a deer in the headlights.
He watched the faces. Cass looked terrified. The guy she made out with, Marcus, of course was good looking and cool. Gale AS ALWAYS seemed nonplussed by everything.
His name wasn't called. DAMMIT. Now he was just going to feel worse. His fingers drummed, possibly annoyingly, over and over on the table top. What was in the box?
All he could think was: Please don't be a head. Please don't be a head.
DRAMA QUEEN.

Cass had nearly thrown herself out of her seat when she'd felt Marcus grab onto her shoulder, turning to look at him before breathing a sigh of relief. Oh, it was just Marcus. Just Marcus. Everything was aaaaaaokaaaayyyyyyyy. She smiled back at him, nodding and taking a deep breath.
She leaned back in her seat and took a deep breath in....deep breath out... okay, she was going to be fine. She wasn't going to be shoved back into the pod for being an absolute failure. She wasn't going into the pod, she was fine. She was fine. She was fine. Oh, she was more than fine.
Okay.
Cassandra looked to see where Marcus had sat and seemed to almost sigh. He had her back! She could almost have been described as giddy; whether it was because of Marcus or because there was someone looking out for her could have been up for debate entirely. However, she soon turned her attention back to what was going on with the box.
She wanted to know what was in it.
Was it a box of rape? The idea hadn't even passed through her head.

Candace was feeling better. She had read, she had studied, she had slept, she had had her freakout, she had gotten better, she had read some more, had another melt down, gotten better and then just studied. But then suddenly her cell phone went off and she frowned, picking it up and flipping it open to check the message. The same room...she knew this room pretty well by now. Would it be her second time there or her third time? It was actually rather interesting to think about! But now was not the time for that, now was the time to see how well her evaluation turned out. She hoped it was okay.
It did help quite a bit that it was Caelius holding this class, sitting up in her chair for once with her elbows on the table and holding her head in the palms of her hands. If her eyes could turn into hearts they would, or she would have small little hearts and sparkles floating around her head. Anything was okay as long it was Caelius she got to stare at. Oh yes, she read the textbook now that they weren't fighting for their lives. She read every word. But now she was excited to know how her evaluation would turn out, eyes widening as a smile grew on her face. She was nervous, but an excited nervous. It was like getting the results of a test or a project, that moment of suspense where you eagerly await the announcement of your grade. Would it be good? She hoped it would be good. She didn't want to fail and suffer whatever fate failures had to endure. She needed to pass. She needed to make it. She needed a perfect evaluation.
But she wasn't the first called up. Candace's heart raced as she sat back in her chair and crossed her arms, fists clenched tightly. She swallowed hard, trying to keep quiet as she watched for those being called to get up and stand beside him. Maybe..maybe the order they were called meant nothing. Please mean nothing...
Please...

The guy with the brown and white hair had waved to him; Gale lifted his hand in greeting, giving him a nod. What was his name again? He had mentioned something about being a former Beta, hadn't he..? Something with an M...Marcus, that's it.
"Is it just me, or is this almost as nervewracking as that mission itself?" Gale muttered under his breath to Bix, whom he was sitting beside. "I feel like he's going to open that box and something's going to explode out of it. Or something."
He resisted the urge to smack Bix's hand (that finger drumming was really very irritating), instead keeping his arms folded firmly across his chest. Bouncing his leg, he tried to go back to being calm, pasting a stoic expression on his face. The last thing he wanted was to seem anxious over this; after all, it was just an evaluation of their performance, right?
Only an evaluation that would determine their entire future here at Deus Ex Machina. But no biggie.
I'm not anxious, right? he thought. Right. Nope. Not nervous at all. Not. At. All.
...why is this not working.

"You ever see the movie Dune?" Bix muttered back to Gale so only the other boy could hear. He noticed him bouncing his leg and he abandoned the finger drumming to instead bounce his foot a million times a minute. "She brings out this box and it's just PAIN.. unimaginable pain." Bix gulped and nodded his head in a 'oh hell no' kind of way.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that brings total annhi..oh god who was he kidding?! He was seriously only thinking of ever sinister box he'd ever seen in ANY movie.

Thankful for the brief message, Leon made his way over to an empty seat and scooted the chair back to allow for some proper legroom for him and his legs. He would have loved to prop a leg up on the table rather than to have his kneecaps brush against the underside of the smooth polished table, but with the way Caelius was addressing the group, it felt like a better decision to just stay in the uncomfortable position. It would be training in the art of patience, that was how the boxer was going to think about it, training that he would dare not fail at by twitching or shifting in the seat.
Their instructor, Sensei Caelius was up at the head of the table, carefully grasping onto a rather large box that Leon kept a careful eye on, since it allegedly held answers to why they were here. Hopefully it had new boxing gloves, or a puppy, as long as it didn't have his genitalia in there. He did feel the need to check himself just to be sure. ... .... ........ Yep, definitely not in the box.
He did look around at the others that shared a place around the table and in all the current "Training sessions"/mental gauntlets that they had so far. However the one girl that was practically a bundle of nerves nearby looked like she was about to go into a fit. Maybe she left the curling iron on in her dorm or something he mused to himself, before remembering how barely equipped his own dorm was. Nah, must be nerves. But she at least managed to calm down due to another person's help.
"Hey sweetheart." He said quietly to the one known as Cass. "Don't forget to breathe, inhale and exhale. don't want to pass out until after you were called up, right?" he told her while motioning his arms up and down to visualize the intake of the respiratory system.
At least until he heard his own name and promptly cringed and thumped his leg against the bottom of the tabletop with a quiet hiss of pain. It wasn't as painful as a jab combo, but it still smarted as he eased out of the chair to take his place next to his new sensei.
"You don't have a corpse in there, do ya Sir?" he asked warningly, it was impossible to know what the gentleman was thinking beyond that careful look upon his face.

"Oh, jeez," Gale mumbled back. "I remember that scene why did you have to make me think of that."
They were probably driving each other crazy imagining all of these totally horrible situations, and it was probably not the best idea ever, but Gale had to do something to keep his mind occupied...though now, come to think of it, to occupy himself he should probably be doing something other than contemplating every bad thing that might come out of that box. Especially since the first guy - someone with dark hair that Gale didn't really know very well, though he remembered him from the first test - had stood and made his way over to their instructor.
So instead Gale suddenly found the ceiling fascinating, trying to count every little line in it.

Cass looked up again when it seemed another man was talking at her, smiling at the breathing-instruction she was getting and making a point to breathe in, breathe out with him. However, she paused mid breath when she realized that the man who was coaching her was going to be the first to experience what that box was about.
She got a bit antsy, frowning.
"i-It should be safe after all the hell they already put us through, right? THey're not gonna like..keep killing off the help, right?"
OH PLEASE LET HER BE RIGHT.

Robert hated tests. Oh man, did he hate them. The only thing he hated more than tests, was the results of taking a test.
That box held an F. A big, giant, stinkin' red F. He just knew it. His expression had the kind of pathetic, puppy dog 'Do I have to' look on it that could sink ships with it's sadness, but he trudged up to the front and stood in front, rubbing his neck nervously. He felt a little lonely, towering above most of them, and his shoulder slumped a little in response.
At least they'd called Madison up with him. The moment she made it, he would probably move his position and stand right beside her for support. She looked like the kind of girl that had always gotten straight A's - the kind Robert had cheated off of in school. It was too late to do any cheating now, but he'd feel better with just her presence nearby.
One of the guys standing up in front was a little bigger than Robert was used to. In fact, Robert thought, if they'd been in school together, they would have probably been friends. Or teammates. He hadn't met Leon yet, but he seemed to be watching the guy curiously.

This room again. At this rate, Jordan was going to have a conditioned flinch response to the place. At least everyone looked nervous. That was comforting, in a mild, schadenfreude kind of way.
He wasn't in the first group called. Whether that was a good thing or a bad thing he couldn't guess. Possibly even a neutral thing. He crossed his arms to keep from fidgeting, and waited to see what was going to happen.
