Then you've come to the right place!
Now, we know it's a little intimidating when you first go into a shop or first get a pet, so Bunny has decided [with the suggestions from quite a few regulars, of course] to make a newbie's guide!

This will be a simple overview of everything HoA has to offer, and will basically just give you the run-down of anything you need to know!

►►_______________________________Getting an Azrein

> >What is an Azrein, anyway?
Put simply, an Azrein is a special breed of horse. Azrein are able to communicate and Bond with people.

> >How To Get One
Herds of Azreth has many different ways to get an Azrein.

Freebies:
Bunny has a Free Basic Customs thread she generally keeps open for people who will RP with their Azrein. If you don't plan to Roleplay, though, then this way isn't for you!

Flatsales:
Herds of Azreth hosts tons of Flatsales -- this is a first-come, first-serve Event. There will be a preview of the horses up for grabs, and a specific date and time that the Flatsale will start. You simply post a form in the thread saying which one you want, and if it's available, you get it!

There are two different types: One-Stage, which is ONLY the Adult Azrein, and Growing. If you buy a Growing Flatsale, your Azrein starts out as a blanket, and over time grows from Blanket to Foal, then Foal to Adult!
Pricing:
Adult Stage Azrein : 5,ooog.
Growing Azrein : 1o,ooog.

Raffles:
In a Raffle, there is usually a single horse up for grabs. You are able to buy however many tickets you would like. These tickets are numbered, and when the raffle comes to an end, the colorist will randomize a number to choose the "winning ticket"!
Pricing:
One Ticket : 5og

Dice Game:
In a dice game, usually a single horse is up for grabs. The colorist will roll a die, and you will have to try to roll the same number they did! If you roll the same number, you get the Azrein!
Pricing:
Free!

RP Contest:
In RP contests, one or more Azrein will be up for grabs. There will be a specific RP Prompt that people trying to win the horse will reply to. After the deadline for the entries, the staff will judge the responses and the people they feel have roleplayed the pets best will get the Azrein.
Pricing:
Varies - sometimes the RP Events are free, and other times there is a flat fee. The price will be specified at the start of the Event.

Auctions:
In an Auction, the highest bidder wins the Azrein. You can bid as much gold as you are willing to pay for the pet up for grabs. There is usually a set starting bid. Don't bid what you don't have, though!
Pricing:
Starting Bid is usually between 5o,ooog - 1oo,ooog.

Breeding:
When two owners breed their Azrein, the parents might have had more offspring than they want! Usually, the owners of these foals will give them out to people or host a free game to win the babies.
Pricing:
Free

Customs:
Customs are where you order an Azrein to your liking. Colorists will open their slots on a specific day each month or every other month.

►►_______________________________Roleplaying

THIS is the HoA Story So Far.

> >Why Should I Roleplay My Azrein?
Well, first off, it's super-fun!
But Roleplaying offers TONS of perks you won't be able to get by just having an Azrein in your signature.

> >RP Perks

//.3 - 4 Babies Per Breeding.
Instead of only getting 2 - 3 babies per breeding, you'll get three!
//.RP-Related Editing
that's right! Say your horse takes a cut on the shoulder, or something drastically changes about their appearance. There's a possibility that if you're a dedicated RPer, it might be reflected in your horse's image! Cool, eh?!
//.Metaplot Involvement
If you participate in several RP Events, and are a dedicated RPer, you might become a catalyst in the Metaplot!
//.Equivir
Last but certainly not least, you have the chance to become an Equivir. That means custom lineart and coloring. But Equivir are ONLY attained through serious RP and maxed out stats.

> >Ways to RP

//.Alignment
Well, you can Roleplay as three different Alignments -- note that you can change your Azrein's alignment three times; as long as you RP the reason for why they've had a change of heart!

Good, Neutral, and Evil.
Good Azrein Bond with Humans, which means you can play your Avatar or Original Character alongside your horse.
Neutral Azrein choose not to get involved with the war going on. They choose not to Bond with humans.
Evil Azrein cannot Bond with Humans. They want nothing more than to sever all ties between Azrein and Man, even if it means killing off their kin.

//.Private / Open RP's
There is a specific Subforum in the Guild for people who want to RP.
"Private" RP's means that they're between specific people, and they don't want anyone else to join.
"Open" RP's means that anyone and everyone is welcome to join in!

//.In-Thread
We LOVE it when people Roleplay in the thread! In-Thread RPs are open to everyone. However, if you want your Azrein to apply to become an Equivir down the line, be sure to go to the RP Log Subforum and Log the RP so you can use it for application!

//.RP Events
The RP-Events are designed specifically for people who would like their Azrein to have a chance at becoming an Equivir. These are adventure-type roleplays that a staff member runs, and require your Azrein to use their Stats.

//.Breeding
Breeding Roleplays are used for just that -- breeding. Since we only allow Azrein that have been Roleplayed to breed, these RPs show the interaction and relationship the two Azrein who wish to breed have shared.

►►_______________________________Customs

> >What is a custom?

//.A Custom is any design you have in mind. It has not been pre-set by the colourist, and you are in charge of what goes where and how.

There are levels to customs, however, depending on how much you pay, what you want from your custom and any extras you’d like to throw in.

//.What’s the difference between adult customs and growing customs?

Adult customs are a single image of a fully grown Azrein. It will not change appearance unless you pay to have it changed, or it becomes an Equivir.

Growing customs start at either blanket or foal, and, when enough time has passed either in real life, or, If you choose, during roleplay, it will “grow” meaning you request an update of your Azrein from the original colourist. The colourist will then “grow” your Azrein from blanket to foal to adult, depending on what stage it Is at. Once a growing pet has reached adulthood, it will not change again unless you pay for an appearance alteration or it becomes an Equivir.

//.What types of customs can I request, and what’s the difference between them?

*Unedited
*Edited
*Cosplay
*Bribe

Each colourist has different preferences when it comes to designing customs, but Unedited, edited and Cosplay and bribes cover the four basic types. Make sure you check the colourists’ threads to see if their rules are different.

Unedited customs are those that have only simple markings, and sport only a few different colours. Accessories and anything that would alter the original lineart are edits and are not allowed.

Edited Customs are more expensive then unedited customs because you can get more complex markings for your Azrein, as well as being able to give your horse things like accessories, changes of expression, wings and things of the like. Note, though that the sort of edits you want change the price. Small accessories will be a simple edit, whereas wings are classed as a heavy edit, taking up more time and, as such, will cost more.

Cosplay’s are Azrein based on characters. This can be characters from anime, books, films or original characters you have made up. Basically, Cosplays allow really complex edits, such as those involved to turn your favourite Pokèmon character into a horse ^^

Bribe customs cost a lot more partly because you can always apply for a bribe custom, even when the colourist has no custom slots open, and partly because you can have practically whatever you want on your azrein… Apart from major line edits (Things that transform the image too much, two heads, eight legs, that sort of thing), a bribe custom can be anything. Just ask your colourist. If you’ve gone a little over the top and the colourist will not be able to do it, they’ll tell you so, and you can ask another colourist, or alter it a little so it’s not quite so complex. Bribe customs have no fixed price, instead they have a minimum offer. When you apply for a bribe custom, offer them the amount you think its worth. They can turn you down if they’ve had a better offer however, so be sure to price it right. ^^

//.Colourists are not always available. Some go on hiatus, and some do not wish to colour for a while, so be sure to keep an eye on their threads to be sure they’re available.

//.At the moment, the Herds of Azreth colourists are:

Bunny - Owner / Full-Time
Akira - Full-Time
Puddle - Part-Time
Mana - Part-Time
Katsumi - Part-Time - HIATUS
Moo - Full-Time - HIATUS
