Hayden was not afraid of things that went bump in the night. It did not matter that her school restricted students from leaving the dorms late in the night—she snuck out of bed when she wanted to and no one was going to stop her if she could help it. Most people avoided wandering the town at night, for fear of being attacked by fabled monsters or mugged by strangers, but Hayden had grown used to it. Her first encounter—a peculiar rock golem—had certainly shocked her. At least Hayden learned to hightail it as soon as she spotted something awry. She wasn’t the most athletic person out there, but she could sprint when her wellbeing was at stake.
She idly strolled down the sidewalk, playfully teetering at the very edge with her arms out to help keep her balance. Hayden quietly hummed to herself as she slowly made her way toward the library. Occasionally she looked towards the side, just barely moving her head. Was it her, or was someone tailing her? Hayden pushed the unsettling thought aside. She was being paranoid. Even if someone was stalking her, she could outrun the person, one way or another. Lady Luck was always on her side, after all.
Whimsically, Hayden stopped and brought her hands to her sides. “Someone’s there, right? Show yourself already.” She pursed her lips, curling and uncurling her hands into fists.

It was a miracle he had managed to stalk her for -this- long. Of all the Negaverser's officers he probably stuck out the most, so simply staying out of sight for a few minutes was quite the feat! Staying out of sight long enough to tail a person for quite some time?
Seriously a miracle.
But eventually the gig had to be up, and there was an audible sigh before the feeling of someone over her shoulder disappeared. Not to worry! The feeling returned full force when someone materialized right in front of her. The newcomer had the appearance of a young boy, possibly on his way to some kind of crazy costume party with what he was wearing. Glow in the dark? Hell yeah he was glowing! It was like some crazy rockstar stepped right out of the scenes of Tron.
Hell, maybe he had. Stranger things had happened in this town right?
"Hey there!" Despite the earlier sigh he was wearing a smile and seemed genuinely friendly. So far he hadn't made some move to attack her, which was -also- something one had to look out for in this town.
"Couldn't help but notice you out here wandering around...hell I've seen you out here before. Aren't you afraid of things that go bump in the night?" The stranger's head gave a tilt, bright green eyes focused on her as he awaited the answer.

When the stranger appeared out of nowhere, Hayden had to seriously wonder how she had not noticed him sooner. To put it simply, he was like a human-sized glow stick. Anyone who dared to travel with this fluorescent guy would never require a flashlight—he provided enough light already. She scowled at the sudden brightness, squinting her eyes shut and taking a cautious step back as she shield herself with her arms. “Turn down the lights, would you?” Her voice remained low and calm despite the fact that somehow had somehow materialized in front of her. Hayden was used to magic tricks. She had no idea how the set up worked in this case, but she wasn’t too surprised.
Her eyes began to adapt to the glowing and she tentatively lowered her hands. For a stranger dressed in eccentric clothing, he was a rather amiable sort. “Hi.” She looked at him from top to bottom. There weren’t any obvious weapons on him: no blades, no guns; that was a plus. Well, not like he couldn’t use his fists if he wanted to, but it wouldn’t be too life-threatening at least.
“Really? I’m shocked that I haven’t seen you out here before, then.” Was she really talking with him? Wasn’t it smarter to walk away now? Hayden was clever, but she didn’t always act like it. “No.” She looked him straight in the eye, confidently grinning as the past monsters she had encountered came to mind. The chances of him being related to those things were slim, but it was always fun to ponder. “It makes things more fun.”

"I'm usually up there." Here he jerked a finger upwards to indicate the rooftops, that happy grin still in place. "Might explain why you haven't seen me yeah? Most people don't walk around looking to the sky, though really...maybe they should."
He seemed fidgety, though for no other reason than he just wasn't the type to sit still. As he chattered on he strolled around, taking a few steps away before turning and walking back to her, then just repeating the process over...and over...and over.
"As for turning down the lights...naaaah. I like my lights! They're pretty neat and unique and stuff. But really, this is more about you. City's fun, huh? Wouldn't you like to have more fun here? There's monsters lurking in the dark ya know...but what if you commanded those so-called monsters hrmmm? Would that be something that interested you?"

“Up there.” She repeated quietly as she followed his finger toward the rooftops. Hayden blinked, pausing as she absorbed this startling piece of information. What, did that mean he jumped from rooftop to rooftop? That sounded a bit dangerous, even for her. Of course, that was mainly because she didn’t partake in a sport like “parkour” that made such fantastical feats of physical ability look as easy as pie.
Hayden looked back at Scheelite, who was squirming and walking around like someone anxious and eager. “Did you eat too much sugar before leaving, or something?” The words escaped her lips before she could think it over. Well, not that she particularly regretted her words.
“Well, if you insist, but those lights are anything but inconspicuous and subtle.” She kept her head slightly turned away from him. The lights were pretty, without a doubt, but Hayden was still attempting to wrap her head around this mind-boggling stranger and the strange words he began to spew out. “Having power is great and all, but those monsters also like to harass people and cause property damage. Mind telling why I should inherit something with such a negative reputation?”
