Marcus didn't have much. Back home his room was pretty sparse and orderly and he had personal things sure. Here on the island was a totally different matter. The few things he had were placed in spots Marcus felt they should go. The only thing he really cared about he wore. Looking around he leaned on the wall and sighed. It was...naked. Just bland and blah. Dorm life in college at least he could have gotten some posters to hang up or different colored sheets. A TV maybe. Granted he preferred books to reality TV, and Games to those, but...would it kill just to give him a beanbag to slouch in sometimes?
Maybe it would. After their 'evaluation' Marcus bet somebody would just put something in the beanbag to ******** with him. Why? Well why not, so far a lot of things he'd never expected to happen were happening. Things...attacking mentally. Kissing a girl he hardly knew-
Speaking of which, after the evaluation they'd gone their separate ways. He'd not sen her and with his spartan room- er- semi decorated, (or as decorated as it could get), it was a better time then never to find Cassandra. Hey, maybe he could get another make out, slip her some saliva. Kill some time in that kind of way. Or he could ask her out on a date.
He liked the idea of a date.

By comparison, Cassandra somehow managed to have less things than probably anybody else in the hall; she'd found a few things picked out of her bag she'd brought with her, but beyond that she hadn't actually thought through what leaving home had actually meant for her.
It had meant what she'd taken with her was what she had. Which consisted of clothing, for the most part. She'd had a phone and an iPod as well, but both items had mysteriously vanished.
Well, there was the snow globe too, but she still wasn't sure how that had gotten into her bag.
There had also been the post it notes that she was starting to just write random things on to leave in various places. Like the note on her mirror to NOT DESTROY HER HEAD AGAIN. That was important. But what Cass had decided to do that particular day was to mimic Bix's lead;
She was standing out in the hallway, putting her name on her door.
"C" she wrote on the first post it, pulled it off and slapped it on the door. The door tried run away and she pulled it back over to her before resuming, going through all of the motions slightly more carefully. She didn't want to have to keep retrieving the door.
"A" "S" "S" "A".....
about part way through her door labeling her brain went back into the whole 'RUN AWAY FROM HOME, KISS BOY, GET PERSONAL SPACE' bit that kept going through her head.
A very big grin formed on her face as she stared at her door, brain wandering off to somewhere that probably wasn't in the building at all.

Apparently his dorm was a bit more distanced than the others in the hall. Half way down said hall. A bit bothersome, but it was in it's own way nice. He'd not have to worry about noise and if he liked he could be loud. Though, Marcus couldn't think of a reason to be loud. Unless he got a keyboard. Then all bets were off. He'd crank that s**t.
Down the hall he smiled to a few of the other but the girl that got his eye was the one slapping her door. Did she really think post-it notes would be effective for very long? "Hey." One arm propped him on the door frame as Marcus smirked. "So- evaluation. " Did his eyes just flick down for a second? Maybe. "Uh yeah. Things got a bit crazy rushed back there didn't they?" He gave a nervous laugh. Way to go hot shot.

Cass hadn't even thought anything of the person moving in her peripheral before she'd looked up to be greeted by the older boy leaning on her door frame. She looked at him, looked down at the post it she had written down, shrugged, then looked back up to Marcus.
She wasn't ashamed of what she was doing in the least.
"I wish they would have just up front said 'HEY, WE'RE WATCHING EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING' instead of..y'know...zombies." She waved her arms about and nearly tossed the stack of notes in her hand completely. What ended up happening was she tossed it, tried to catch it, and then had it bounce off of her fingers.
She frowned, but retrieved them, tucking them into a pocket before she shrugged.
"It could have been better, it could have been worse..." she trailed off, her eyes going to the bandages that still peeked underneath the end of the sleeve of her shirt. "It would have been a lot worse."
Cassandra perked up again quickly enough and turned her gaze back to Marcus.
"But we both seem to have come out of it just fine. You are OK, right?"

"True, we could have decided to end our lives in a cowardly route to escape what we thought was our inevitable demise." He shrugged, as if it really did not matter. "But that wasn't the case, got to admit it however, they got us damn well. I was..assuming we really were going down. The sheer size of what I thought we were fighting-" He gave gave a half hearted laugh, rubbing the back of his head. "I'm just glad it wasn't real. The idea of being eaten alive or worse, becoming just like those? Resident Evil style? No thanks. I prefer being alive and able to fight to see the next day." The event he'd not even touched on yet. The event being making out while said zombies came after them. "But-" He held up his arm, grinning. Nothing. "Peachy aside from of course moderate annoyance but hey, gotta give us a test make sure we aren't seriosuly nuts and have balls I guess."
Marcus figured the fact that they hadn't pissed themselves, frozen up, and had all fought back meant they all had balls of steel.
Cassandra included. "So Cass." Marcus took a deep breath. "Um. About that whole...thing. With the um- and the- Yeahhhhhh." His face was slowly going red.
He truly was a modern Romeo.

Cass laughed. "I'm sure they wanted to make sure I wasn't going to destroy my head again. 2 times is 2 times too many!" she jested, rapping herself on the forehead with her knuckles. She had to admit that the second she'd felt her head explode while in the trial had been...interesting. Had she felt pain?
It wasn't a thought that lingered long.
"It would have taken more than those zombies to take me down." she talked a good game, but in all truth she was just gung ho enough to not exactly be..self preserving. The beach incident had proven that much to her and in the back of her head she was fully aware of this grand fault she had.
"But I guess they had to give us a crash course taste in what we were dealing with. They could have talked us to hell and back about it and it wouldn't have prevented us from freezing up when we came face to face with it...."
She gave Marcus a very curious look when he started fumbling over his words, putting one hand on her hip and tilting her head slightly to the side to observe how awkward he was getting about talking to her.
"Are you talking about our own face-to-face meeting we had going on?" she inquired, scratching the back of her head with her other hand before looking away from his face to stare at her door awkwardly.

Marcus stared at her. "You what?" His voice was a deadpan. His brain had a moment of 'wat' going on. "You-" He was trying to just fathom why she would do such a thing. "You shot your head off?" He was looking at her with both a new found fear and curiosity. "I- well I really don't know what to make of that exactly." Taking one's own life for whatever reason was a foreign concept to him. One plus one equaling four type logic there.
Shaking his head he had to block out distractions. He'd come looking for her for a reason. He was going to deal with that reason and he'd be damned if he just up and avoided it. "Yes." He stood, back straight. No more leaning. No more fidgeting. He was going to grab this issue by the balls and deal with it like a boss. "Our spur of the moment make out and-" Pink was not all over his face. "Other such promises. Or rather, my insinuation that we would become more intimate after provided we should have survived." Oh god he had done that hadn't he. "And we survived."
So they had and now Marcus almost regret it. At least zombies didn't make him feel awkward about killing a girl her hardly knew. "So as stands-" Marcus allowed a small nervous shuffle of his feet. "I leave it up to you in how you might like to go about this. I would like to get to know you better, but if you honestly don't want such a thing I'm not going to pressure for it. But-" Marcus smiled. "I would like at least the chance to take you on a semi- proper date if just to make up for the lack of one."

"I removed the mask, to be exact." Cass shrugged. "One of those 'heat of the moment' things, I guess." She seemed so unbothered by it, but her expression darkened a bit, her thoughts clearly replaying that moment in her head; that moment that had driven her to go so far. It was possibly the most somber she'd ever be seen as. Possibly.
"Well it was actually just a kiss...." Cass mumbled back in correction to the 'make out' comment, though her own face was starting to adopt some of that pink color that was doing well to feature itself on Marcus's face at well. It hadn't been just a kiss. It had been her first kiss. Maybe she should have treated it a bit more like that... then again, the fact they were blushing over a single kiss probably was a good testament to their romantic purity.
Or something like it.
'Other such promises'.... Cass seemed to have to actually think over what other 'promises' she had made. Then she remembered her blanket statement about the Nation of Cass owing the Nation of Marcus. The color of her face deepened just a bit; wow, that was quite a..uhh.. .... .....
That had been a rather open statement, hadn't it? She hadn't even realized it until that moment.
"I guess I do have a slight debt to pay up, don't I?" Cass said nervously, scratching the side of her head. "I...am going to admit I'm not exactly versed in any sort of dating tango either. Pre-Matrix-red-pill didn't exactly give me much time, or opportunity, about such things." Her shoulders slumped just a bit.
"Though if you don't mind having to..uhh." she paused, trying to find the right word for it, "'introduce' me to things a bit, I don't think a date would hurt either of us. If it was going to hurt, that kiss would have." She tilted her head to look up at him with a sort of adorned extra-strength-innocence. "Which it didn't, might I add. It was a very nice kiss."
So nice she'd kinda spaced off into the distance afterwards in a lala land, but she wasn't going to admit that at all.

"Oh god. Those...things." Two hands went to his chest as if to cup something. When he realize just what he was doing he stopped immediately. "I want to chose mine next time. God just awkward. I hope I never have to do that again." He liked boobs, just not thinking he had boobs himself. That was just weird all around. Off topic, get back on topic. Stop derailing. Marcus had to keep focused! Not avoid- that. That being the fact he kind of did want to make out again, and mostly because making out was easy and fun.
"So, judging by the color of your face you kinda get why I think we can just...brush that aside shall we?" A light cough. Unable to meet her eyes, Marcus looked at the ceiling. So very..blah. Like the rest of the building. The tango- "Oh, oh god no. No horizontal 'date' tango. Not yet, bu- just- wait s**t that isn't what you said ********. Ah just um-" Foot in mouth. "No. Date just a date like a walk or dinner. We probably can't do much but..hang out anyway. But Yeah Cass." Reaching her grabbed her hand.
"I do want to at least get to know you. If anything that test did show was that the reality is life is short. If I just sit around then it's a waste. If I focus on the inevitable then I'm going to miss out." He smiled, putting him self a little closer to her. "I don't want to miss out on the opportunity." Now that didn't sound sexist did it? "To get to know you. Not the um- whole nations bit. I am fine with that on back burner." Red face, so much red in his face. "The far, back burner."

The entire conversation was doing pretty well to snowball into a torrent of awkward and sputtering, wasn't it? Funny how in the middle of danger it was like MWAH!, now on to something else. No problem whatsoever.
"Horizontal tango, I didn't even..I...buh...ah..adubuh..." she sputtered a bit herself at the mere suggestion of anything beyond a kiss. Oh god, she didn't want to move that fast with anybody!! Her face was getting redder and redder by the minute, clasping her hands over both cheeks in hopes her cold fingers would maybe absorb some of that heat and will it all away.
AWAY.
AWAY FOUL BEAST. Kinda.
Hand-grabbing didn't really help all that much itself, her face practically on fire. Cass knew how to handle people to some extent, but this was one of those foreign interactions she wasn't familiar with. She was talking to a boy.
SHE WAS TALKING TO A BOY AND HE WAS HOT. THIS WAS WEIRD.
If he'd been totally suave, she might have fainted from her brain shorting out.
"I'm pretty chill with us just...chilling... I mean... I don't..." she sputtered a bit more. "I think that's all I could handle right now." Cassandra scratched the back of her head again. "Trying to keep it normal while everything is going to hell and back around us might be what I need to maintain my sanity in this place."

Nervous laughter? Check. Red in the face? Check. Still wanting to make out with the girl even with all his fumbling? Double check plus. Marcus never had trouble with girls before the island. He liked to think he could totally win them over and be a smooth operator. But the island was like a giant monkey wrench thrown into his plans along with the live monkey. His game was off.
Plus he had no idea how to take her out on a date when he had no idea where they could go or what they could- Oh they could do but that was not the do he wanted to jump into and ******** his face was the color of blood wasn't it? Better that head then yeah- This was his train wreck. Choo-choo.
He gave her hand a squeeze. "So." He took a deep breath and smiled at her. He could face monsters. What was one cute girl? Girls were beautiful monsters, but he didn't mind. Not in the slightest.
"A date then. Just us. Hang out maybe explore a bit?" Sure it wasn't dinner and a movie, but..it was close. Close to normal as they could get if anything.

Her face flushed again when he squeezed her hand, despite how small of a gesture it was, squeezing back, though her hands were wimpy and didn't quite have hand-squeezing-power to them. It was the thought that counted, right?
"I think that sounds like a plan. I like exploring," she grinned, thinking back on a particular incident..or six..where she'd gone snooping where she shouldn't have. It was delightful. "I especially like exploring in places where they tell us we shouldn't. Adds a bit more adventure to things." She hummed the mission impossible theme song for a few bars of it. "Y'know, that kind of adventure where it is just as fun to get caught as it is to not be."
She hadn't even considered the fact that snooping where she shouldn't be could have gotten her pod-grounded.
"I think it'd be much more exciting than anything else there is to do around here." There was a pause as she looked at her door, then at Marcus. "Did you want to do that right now?" she inquired, peeling the six post it notes off of her door and crumpling them into a ball in her hands. "Because what I was up to wasn't working for me anyways. I should have brought some crayons or something with me. Then I'd at least be able to put a cool sign on my door or something."
She shrugged.
"But easy enough to ignore it to go on an adventure in the meantime instead~"

She liked the idea. The fact she was open to the idea of dating, island or not was a nice normal thing. Something in his gut to him nothing was really normal, but to have that small taste of normalcy? Yeah. Marcus was down with that.
"Well, um. To be honest, I'm not sure where we should start." Up and down the halls people milled about. She wanted a bit of a thrill though. Debating if that was a good idea..he considered his options. "I'd say we hold off on getting outside of the dorms, we're still new and s**t. But, dorms are dorms doesn't hurt to explore this building at least."
The idea of making sighs for the doors with colorful crayon- "Maybe they're waiting for us to settle in before giving us nameplates. Until them numbers? Does annoy me since. augh." He rolled his eyes, giving her hand a tug as feet carried them down the hall. "Beta I was just a label. Didn't we get our names already? it feels like we're back to square one."

"Well, we can always roam the halls in a suspicious manner while humming the Mission Impossible theme?" she suggested, wiggling her hips from side to side just from the suggestion of spicing it up a bit. Truly, she was not the kind to just leave things stagnant as they were.
11 years in a car or a hotel room would definitely teach someone to entertain themselves with simple things. Very very simple things. Either that or she was simply too enthusiastic about everything to be let down by it.
"I guess orienting ourselves to this building would be a smart course of action, for sure." She grinned, seeming to have fully reneged to the idea of staying inside rather than running about freely through the entire facility like a madwoman of some sort.
Though she truly was a madwoman of a sort.
She followed him without a second thought to the fact she hadn't locked her door (what were they going to steal, her snowglobe?), squeezing Marcus's hand again as they walked. She almost would have seemed giddy if she wasn't already just filled with such energy. Cassandra was a girl with energy to burn.
Always.
"Beta I? Well.." she trailed off, thinking vaguely over her broken up time on the Torture-Trial, "I don't think we met during the trials." she admitted. "I was Gamma XII. Also known as 'that chick who removed her mask and exploded her head all over another participant who spoke more than he acted'." She crinkled her nose, her expression darkening again. She was not a monster. She was not a monster, she was not a monster.
She seemed to frown, even, before she shrugged.
"Whatever. It's the past. I should stop thinking about everything that has happened since before I woke up. It's not like we're going to get a chance to go back to it."
Her hand squeezed down again as though there was a part of her nervous about what she'd thrown herself into.
"HOWEVER." She quickly changed topics. "The good news is it seems like we didn't try to kill each other at any point in the trial, so we should have a clean slate with each other, yes?"
