Bix had arranged his dorm. Arranged and rearranged and hyper arranged again. GOD THERE WAS NOTHING TO DO!

Training was fleetingly amusing but with foam bats and fake guns and dummies it was only so effective. They hadn't heard from any teacher, or professors or whatever they were. It seemed like sitting around and waiting was the plan.

He was literally two seconds from walking and just knocking on random doors. But what if it was that one armed guy who seemed really angry? s**t. That wouldn't do. Bix stuffed his feet into his boots and walked outside. He'd clearly labelled his door with a big white piece of paper that had 'BIX' scrawled on it. Still, obviously, no one had come knocking.

The albino young man slipped into the hall, decked in a tshirt and jeans and with his trusty sunglasses hanging from the pocket. He wrapped his braid around his neck like a scarf. If he was going to fit into these dorms, he'd better start close to home. He nervously walked to the next door down, one where he'd heard some shuffling noises and an occaisional stomp.

Already slightly pink from embarassment he knocked.

Cassandra's attempts at jumping on her bed had not actually strengthened at all since the first and very failed one she'd made. At one point she'd nearly impaled herself on her desk, but that hadn't deterred her attempts at pointless rebellion by any means.

Rebellion was rebellion, and she was going to get it in as much as she could before the rules came back, pointed their grubby fingers in her face and went "NO. BAD CASS. U NO CAN HAS DUZ DAT'. Ha. Silly rules. Cassandra felt mighty for someone who had run away from home over a confiscated computer. She had never actually wondered more than that if she would have left home for any other reason.

Though she had signed the release paper before she'd even gotten in that level of trouble with her parents. Harrumph and harrumph at them! She'd show them who was boss!

Cass had been indeed jumping on her bed some more and humming a very out-of-tune version of 'STILL ALIVE' from Portal when the door had been knocked on. She jumped off of the bed to go answer, but her landing was completely and totally botched, causing her to take several steps forward to correct herself before she just tumbled over to hit the floor.

She sighed into the carpet. She wanted to get her center of balance corrected sometime in the near future, that much was sure, but first!

DOOR!!!

"HI- OH GOD, ******** ended up swinging the door open with so much fervent enthusiasm that she pegged herself right in the nose, stumbling back into her room with both hands clasped over her face.

Sorry post-it-note of 'Do not hurt your head anymore'. She wasn't doing too good at keeping on top of that request.

Bix's eyes were wide when the girl answered the door. Mostly because he heard a huge CRASH inside and then she'd slammed herself in the face.

"Oh god.. GOD! Cass? JEEZUS." That looked like it hurt. They weren't familiar but now that he saw her he recognized her and connected the name. She'd totally made out with that one guy on the mission! He was so effin smooth too. Damn... that guy.

"Are you okay!?" He didn't come in the room but he hung in the doorway, arms extended to brace her if she fell down again. "What .. exactly have you been doing in here?"
PostPosted: Fri Jun 17, 2011 1:07 pm

Cass swore for a few more seconds before she pried her hands from her face, pressing the bridge of her nose gently, crinkling her nose a bit and then seeming placated.

"Okay. I don't think I broke anything... and I don't seem to have a bloody nose either." She placed her hands on her hips and puffed her chest out. In a more animated world, a sunburst would have formed behind her with the words 'AM INVINCIBLE' radiating from it. She felt pretty invincible most of the time.

She'd blown her head up and come back from the dead! SHE HAD TO BE INVINCIBLE AFTER THAT!

"Cass? That's my name!" she grinned confidently as she looked at the boy who stood in her doorway, seeming unsure what to do with himself. She had just made a rather interesting scene, she imagined.

"Me? I.." she took a look around the room. "I have been unpacking my minimal amounts of things; I guess I should have packed better." 'Unpacking' had taken a grand total of a few minutes for her, if she was blatantly honest about it.

She puffed up proudly, completely unashamed of herself.

"And I have been jumping on the bed. I've never had a room to myself since I can remember, so there's nobody to tell me not to! It's absolutely fantastic!"

Cassandra's grin probably couldn't have gotten any wider as she looked to Bix.

"And what have you been doing in the downtime..........?" she trailed off, this puzzled look glazing over her eyes as her brain suddenly had to turn to the 'functioning' state. Clearly she'd completely forgotten his name and didn't have the heart to ask i-. WAIT. "You're Bix from next door, right? The sign on your door has been helping me not walk into the wrong room, because I use it as a locational marker."

BEAAAAAAAAAAAAAM.

Once she'd stood up, seemingly fine, Bix couldn't help but laugh a little. Something about her was just.... funny! He scratched his head and nodded affirmative when she got his name right.

"Well I'm glad my sign helped you find your room. No one's come to visit me or anything." He was already sounding like a downer and it was totally unintentional.

She seemed like a kid. Teenage girls were so hard to judge the age of nowadays, but she behaved like a kid. Bix was okay with that as he was a late bloomer himself and could hardly be described as mature.

"I had my own room at home but I was in college before I came here and I had a really laaaaame room mate." The reality was actually that he was the lame room mate. SHE DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW THAT. "But yeah.. I unpacked my stuff. Just clothes and some comics.. and well theres like NO internet here.." He rolled his eyes.

He certainly was wearing his own clothes. A tee from high school that said 'Class of 08' and his sunglasses. His hair was neatly wrapped and at some point he'd absently begun to play with the tip of his braid.

"I heard all the noise over here and seemed like some kind of action was going on. I wanted to check it out." Was it obvious from his face? SO BORED.

" I hope you don't mind.." His pale skin got the slightest pink tinge.

Cass gave the boy a long stare.

A really long intense stare. "College?? Wooowwww. I don't know if I would have gone to college if I'd stuck with the course my parents had going for me." She shrugged. "I was homeschooled and we were on the road all the time, so I was often sharing a hotel room with the 'rents. No room for the Cass! Especially not with them watching me all the time."

She crept closer to her next-door-neighbor and practically got up into his face, no concept of personal space extended. Her eyes were really wide as she slowly said.

"ALL.

THE.

TIME."

Cass backed off after her creeper moment however, laughing.

"So it was like having a lame roommate for 11 years only they followed you wherever you went too." She shuddered a bit, rubbing her arms. The first real frown forming on her face. "I can't promise it's much more interesting in here, though. Just a lot of bleeegghh. I'm mostly entertaining myself by doing stupid stuff."

She shrugged. "But if you want to bring on a party, I'm cool with it. I have nothing to hide and frankly it seems like everybody should bond as much as they possibly can; We have to have each others' backs."

If nothing else, Bix had gotten a very relaxed neighbor in living next to Cassandra.

"I'll admit the lack of internet is what kills me. I practically lived on there with an online handle. I wonder if people are wondering what happened for me to just suddenly vanish."

She sighed, the frown coming back.

Bix's eyes widened as she zoomed in on him and gave him. THE. STARE. He blinked an unusual amount. He'd lost every staring contest he'd ever entered. Cass was talking about her life before this and he thought he childhood sounded. "..strange." He muttered it a bit.

"Not you." lies. She was totally strange. "Your childhood I guess. Well normal for you.." but strange to most. The back of a van? Really? And what was she implying about being with her parents all. the. time. He gulped. Cass could be a little intense.

Suddenly she was laughing and he joined in, awkwardly, and rubbed the back of his neck and then just as suddenly she seemed just fine, chill even. Despite the ranges of mood and reaction coming from Cassandra, he relaxed a bit as well. "God I wish we had internet. You think we can mail order some stuff at least? Like even a poster.. or one of those 'Hang in there!' pictures with the cat hanging from a branch. ANYTHING but white walls. It's like a damn... institution."

He sort of peered around inside her room. He certainly didn't have much party in him but maybe they could go walk around. She seemed like she would find a way to cause trouble, or at least do something weird and entertaining. "I guess you didn't get much warning before you left? We don't have to stay in the dorms. We can walk around.. maybe find where there's food? Maybe you'll find something exciting. Like a fountain to play in."

He used that as a lure. She liked jumping on beds.. what other harmless chaos could she get into that he could hint at?
PostPosted: Fri Jun 17, 2011 10:45 pm

Cass laughed.

"And where would they ship it to? PO BOX NUMBER 1234

WE HAVE NO ******** CLUE WHERE THIS ISLAND IS ST

MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, IMLOST 56789?"

She paused, seeming to think over that address for a long moment. Perhaps it was actually accurate? She'd have to think about that for a while to come. After a minute, however, Cassandra shrugged. "I'd settle for a coloring book, some crayons, and tape at this point." she admitted with a sigh. "Or even just the crayons. Think they'd get mad if we started drawing on the walls?" she paused, making a face. "Okay, maybe they would. But it'd be better than all this nothing."

"Then again, boring is better than hotel-room-bland. Hotels smell funny."

She crinkled her nose.

"All I got was 'don't leave the facility'. Or the dorm building.

They wanted us to stay somewhere." She seemed suddenly confused by everything, grumbling a bit, using both hands to scratch at her head before she suddenly popped up again, erratically even.

"HOWEVER. Food sounds like something to look for. They have to hide the food somewhere, and as long as I don't travel for months to get to an ice cavern to find noms but lack a can opener to open them with? I'm chill with most anything." If Bix had picked up her reference, she probably would have gleed....

then hidden in a corner. That was the only 'horror' story to ever actually terrify her on some level.

HNNGH.

"I wish they'd let us go out and go swimming though...."

Bix laughed too, once again flushing in embarrassment. "I dunno maybe they have some mainland address. Like.. all these people can't be living here without getting supplies from somewhere. And not every single one can be happy with white walls and cots. Maybe they are like earned priveledges or something."

It made sense to him, anyway. "Our instructor guy does seem like a weirdo though. I hope they aren't all like that."

Bix sort of motioned to the hall with his arm, offering to let her out first so they could aimlessly wander in search for food. He could eat and was curious to what sort of food facilities there were. He never ate much, mostly because he got bored with most food halfway through eating it. He was great at buffets though... and when the food was too fantastic to be boring.

"You probably pack it away.." he teased. But he believed it. She seemed like one of those girls who could just put it down and never gain an ounce. He didn't get the reference.. but he could tell it was a reference so he didn't bother to question the meaning. He hated not knowing what people were talking about and admitting that he didn't know was worse. This boy was easily embarrassed.

"Swimming? Like on the beach? I dunno if going in the ocean around this place would be safe." He made an awful face at the thought. "Maybe theres a pool somewhere. Like in the training place."
PostPosted: Sat Jun 18, 2011 8:11 pm

"He's very interesting.." Cass agreed, lips tightening. "I'm wondering if he's like...Alexander of Brennenburg and we're all his Daniels..." she shuddered at the thought of being fed to a shadow. "He certainly acts i-...You have played Amnesia, right? I'd hate to be making an indie reference without you knowing what I mean."

She grumbled a bit and pressed her hands against her cheeks.

"If they're all like that, I'm going to start imagining them with those silly halloween costumes on that they would look utterly ridiculous in." She paused, imagining Caelius as a sexy nurse for a minute. Her face got a really bizarre look on it before she shook it.

"Okay, that's more horrifying than Mr Face is. Ever."

And Cass wasn't even scared of that game.

She stepped out into the hallway, closing the door behind her carefully before taking a deep breath. "Well, I can't say I ate properly before coming here, but I guess I haven't suffered from eating poorly for years. Fast food for near every meal? Helllzzzz to the yeaaaahhh."

Actually, her little body had suffered greatly for her eating choices, she just hadn't actually been forced to use it to the extent of seeing how much she'd keel over from trying to work out. She laughed none the less, oblivious to her affliction.

"I dunno, I think swimming in the ocean would be funner than swimming in a pool." Cass replied with a sly grin.

"Sand and salt water and swimsuits.." She practically wiggled her butt in excitement. "I'd be all over that! Every day!"

"Awwww Amnesia!" Bix slapped himself in the face. A DOH! Moment. "I totally haven't played it. EVERYONE told me to but I never got a chance! How scary is it? I heard it was hella scary!" Truth was he only played games alone and was always a liiiiiiittle too scared to play Amnesia.

He walked in step with her and stuffed his hands into his jeans pockets. Rummaged he pulled out a wad of stuff. "Huh.." He'd not thought he'd left anything in his pants. There was a wadded up $5 bill and a receipt from KFC. It had never been so sad to find mysterious money in his pocket. He frowned, wadded it up and stuffed it back in.

"Aren't you worried about like.. beach mist monsters?" He had to admit that he wooooouldn't mind seeing her in a swimsuit though.

He was watching the signs as they walked the halls. So far it was just dorm rooms but at the end of the hall there was a sign with some arrows. 'Commissary' was apparently a right hand turn.

"Fooooooood..." He made grabby hands at the sign.

Cass gave Bix a looonnnggg look.

"Short answer: I wasn't scared of it." she said, though after a moment she made a face. "But I think for my answer to be an accurate one, you need to take into consideration that my near daily life was like an episode of 'Ghost Hunters'. I've been sent into old, dark, rotting, creaking, mysterious and overall unsettling houses since I was a little over five years old.

Silent.

Creepy.

Houses." She shrugged, then lifted up her fingers to do air quotations, " Because I had a 'gift'." Cass crinkled up her nose in distaste at the word. "So my life was unsettling all around. Amnesia was like another adventure in creeping through the silence and ambiance of suspicious places. It just happened to be a castle."

"So yeah. If you're chill with dark ambient places with suspicious noises and are inclined to go investigate them, then it was OK. The story was pretty good though..."

She paused, before saying. "Now if you play Penumbra: Black Plague? Ohhhhhhhhhhh man, that game.." She paused to shudder, before laughing. "It was a good one."

"Hey, what are they going to do? Grab my a**?" she inquired, really not taking the whole 'monster' thing seriously while they were between four walls, a ceiling, and a floor safely. "A little risk is required to get a big payoff."

She paused when he grabby-handed at the sign, laughing into one hand. "Food doesn't sound too bad to me either, actually. It should be pretty good." Her stomach seemed to growl in agreement.

Cassandra blushed at it. Ohhhh dear.

DISCLAIMER: Opinions expressed by Cassandra are not reflected by her RPer. Penumbra: Black Plague and Amnesia are both fabulous games, and I peed myself during both of them. A lot. There was also a lot of pausing going ";A;"

"That's crazy.." He had to be honest. Her childhood did sound crazy. REALLY crazy. Too crazy for him. He didn't even play horror video games. He'd played the first Resident Evil and that was it for him. What a wuss! "So you can like.. talk to spirits and sense ghosts and stuff?" And he definitely had NOT played Penumbra. If she said it was good than it had to be too much for him.

When she inquired about what the mist would do he wagged a finger. "I had a guy I knew in school who said that ghost rape would be the worst thing to ever happen. You wouldn't be able to stop it!" The idea made him laugh a little bit. "Ever read The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? The invisible man is inside of this girl's school and the girls keep getting knocked up and thinking it was immaculate conception.." His reference explanation would probably not sound as relevant. Or even stupid. "You gotta read it."

The doors along this hall were more farther apart and unlabeled. By the look of them they were probably conference rooms or something. There seemed to be a larger open area ahead of them. HOPEFULLY it was the Commissary.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 19, 2011 5:59 pm

Cass crinkled her nose. "Not really. I just happened to get bad feelings in certain rooms as a kid. It was always that way. However, it got my parents' attention when I walked into my grandmother's room and was like, 'OH NOEZ, THIS ROOM R FUNNEE' and they suddenly got these grand ideas of me being a child psychic, yada yada, TV shiz, haunted buildings, pure hell, never have a normal home ever again......"

She swayed her head side to side with the quick exposition.

"If I had the chance to tell my younger self DON'T TALK ABOUT GRANDMA, I'd do it. I didn't want any of it. 11 years of it." She laughed. "Does it make sense why we were on the road all the time now?"

Cassandra scratched the back of her head.

"I...saw the movie?" she admitted. "I don't know how the movie stands next to the original..uhh..was it a comic book or a normal book?" she inquired with a slight tilt of the head. "Either way, if you have a copy of it I'd happily read it, man. I have a copy of my own favorite story I'd happily swap."

She paused.

"If you're into horror stories. I have such a girl-hard-on for it though. It's so...cruel and horrible and mean and" she may have just gleed a bit over a short story.

"It's called 'I Have No Mouth, And I Must Scream'. There are a lot of TV Tropes..." she assumed he'd been a reader of that website, "that come from it."

She kept walking with a sort of skip in her step. It seemed their current course of conversation was totally her slice of cake/pie/cheesecake/whatever it was she really liked.

Though she'd admit she didn't like cake, pie, OR Cheesecake. But it was like her birthday or something!

GLEE!

"So..." Bix twirled his braid a little. He also seemed to be enjoying the subject matter. "Did you ever have a crazy ghost experience? I know it was like bad feelings and stuff but if they put you in those places...." He'd had a weird experience once, funny enough, at his grandmother's house.

"Oh god the movie is soooo bad." Bix waved his hand at her. "I didn't bring it with me. The comic. Its so awesome though. I brought other stuff though." He'd packed a duffle and sacrificed some space for about 10 comic hardcovers and a few beaten up novels. "It was crazy hard picking like 10 comics to bring.. if you want to borrow any I am right next door. And I brought my Lord of the Rings and Hobbit books." His favorites! "I definitely will want to borrow that story." He'd read everything he brought. Anything new was always welcome.

"Whoah there tiger." He looked at her growling belly and luckily when they arrived at the large open hall, double doors on their right were clearly labeled as the food hall. "Awesome.. "

With a few long strides he was there, holding the door for her. "After you."
