Kelda found herself wandering out into an open landscape. The sun was falling behind the horizon and left her wandering in an almost darkness that promised to get darker, her eyes adjusted slowly and soon she could care less. Moving at a brisk pace, almost as if she were sure of herself, she began seeking a place to stay and rest. This was not usually an overly difficult task, but tonight was proving to be just a tad different.
The open landscape didn't seem to end, sure there were trees, bushes and such, but nothing worth stopping for. She was looking for a group of trees, or a bigger group of bushes. Tonight just wasn't her night. Kelda settled, she hated settling, on a tree and bush combo. "This will have to do..." Her face struggled with a composed look of /whatever/. It was an inconvenience she would just have to live with.

xxBaako yawned and stretched, shaking his coat free of the dust that had settled on it during his afternoon nap. The heat made him sleepy, and as he was already lazy enough, he tended to opt for multiple naps during the day and roam around at night when most other things were asleep.
His sight wasn't amazing at night, but his gait was slow and lumbering, so if anything would have been in his way it usually had the sense to move before he trampled it. Any small critter that didn't...well, easy breakfast.
Humming, he walked slowly, looking around at the darkened landscape through half opened eyes. Black, black, black, dark blue, black, dark blue brown, green, black, black--wait green?
Baako's ear twitched, his curiosity peaked. Quickening his lumber to a walk, he approached the fluorescent green blotches..which quickly took shape into another hyena. A female?
"Hellloooooooooo theerreeeeee...?" Baako said mildly sheepishly.

Eyes, a darker green then her brightly colored mane and tail, took in the scenery. The vast darkness that began overtaking the land at a familiar pace had slight movements here and there, also familiar. She heard small noises chime here and there, tiny voices of rodents calling and checking in to one another. Kelda huffed softly and shifted her body to walk at a more comfortable pace as she approached the bush and tree with a grumbled growl and a annoyed grimace. The night got worse when a voice cracked through the familiar noises. It rang a hearty hello and she cringed gently turning to try and spy the culprit.
It didn't take her more than a few seconds to spot the criminal. He was walking, seemed that the pace he took was quickening, but the settled. She stared coldly into the darkness at him, his pelt had a light color, mixed with a stripe -like darker color. She couldn't catch what the color actually was, but it appeared to be brown, his paws gave that away when they met a pile of earth and he nearly blended in.
"Hello..." Her tone was monotonous and unmotivated. Almost asking why he was talking to her, but she didn't speak the words directly.

"Never seen you before," he said simply, ignoring the fact she might not want his company and setting his rump down at a personal but not intrusive distance, "Just passing through? Or..eh I might have been sleeping. Have you seen me before?"
He brought his back paw up to scratch an itch behind his ear, then gave her a good looking over with sleepy eyes and a slight grin. She was prettiest thing he had seen in a long while, and her coat colors fascinated and drew him in. The slight glow they seemed to give with the last of the fading light brought them out even more, and he was more than happy to sit there and just stare at her for a while. It was like...she was a night with green stars. Or, no, wait. Like night rising when there was grass growing and a pond was nearby? No, no, that's not right either. Had he ever really seen anything like he had now? Hrm.
He gave little thought to her comfort levels, oblivious to everything while he was lost in thought.

This male was oblivious. She had made the obvious tones and movements to show that his presence wasn't necessarily unwanted, but certainly wasn't needed. Instead of pursuing getting rid of him, because the gaze he had told her he wouldn't leave anyway, she looked at him and decided to speak with him afterall.
"If I had seen you before I would have found out where you were going so I could avoid meeting you again. I'm not a social Hyena you see?" She states coldly, but doesn't speak with a threat in her voice. She was open to more of a conversation and began patiently waiting his retort.
It was his eyes that bothered her, she watched them wander over her body. She wasn't sure what he was looking for, but she wasn't weak and plotted how she could defend herself if he got any ideas.

Her tone snapped Baako out of this thoughts and he grinned again. This lady yeena made no sense, silly thing.
"So you're not social but if you had seen me before you'd talk to me? So you could not see me again...maaaannnn that's too much thinking." he winced as if it actually hurt his brain, "And anyway, what're you doin way out here? There's like...nothing."
He chewed on that last statement a bit, "Er...unless you're looking for nothing. Then I guess this is where you ought to be." Baako got up and stretched, mildly amused at his genius. He plopped back down next to the female, assuming they were on friendlier terms now that they'd exchanged more than three words. Of course, Baako was the type to consider anyone in his presence for more than a minute friendly.
"Baako -- that's me -- and you...?"
