Adrian and Asta enter this island-like world. "Why do we always get lost?" He turns to Asta with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, guess I am a little lost" Asta giggles at Adrian. "It's alright. I kinda like it here. It feels so free" Adrian grins "I guess you're right It does kinda feel good I wonder who lives here?"

Mortimer was wondering through the woods when he felt the presence of two people enter the world. He felt the Darkness inside one of them. Mortimer smiled as he stalked off towards the source. "So. We have a tainted heart here. Might as well go check it out." He continued through the woods till he saw the two he was looking for.

Adrian feels his darkness stir. "No, not here" He falls to one knee breathing heavily. Asta kneels beside him. "What's going on? Adrian?" Adrian looks towards the woods and glances around frantically. "There is something out there, something off" He summons Darklight and faces the direction of the presence. "Stay back for now. Don't run into this. It might be worse than we can imagine. Summon your keyblade just in case" Asta nods as she summons Brightening Heart. Like before Adrian feels his darkness calm. "Adrian?" He looks to Asta. "Yes?" "Be careful" Adrian smiles to her, a smile she had seen before, only when their world disappeared. "Don't worry. I will"

Mortimer appeared behind the girl. "My you are a cutey." He smirked as he noticed the keyblades they wield. "Ah. Striving to be Knights are we?" He walked over to the boy and put his hand on his shoulder. "So you are the one with the tainted heart."

Adrian grits his teeth. "This man...he is...dangerous" Adrian jumps out of the man's reach and keeps Darklight betwwen them. "How do you know that?" He senses Asta shudder from the other side of the man. She looks to the man who had appeared behind her. "I can't feel his light. What is he?"

Mortimer smiled as he appeared behind the boy again. "I am one of the darkness. I am neither human nor Nobody. I'm not even a Heartless." He chuckled a bit.

He jumps away from him again to arrive next to Asta. "A being of darkness? Now I remember. Your presence is similiar to the one in that dark castle in Radient Garden" Adrian feels his darkness stir a little more. Asta watches the man closely, looking for any sudden changes within him. She grips Brightening Heart, it's aura shining brighter. "Would you have a heart then?"

Mortimer laughed. "A heart? The is just the little bit of light to balance out your existence." He gave her a hard look. "I am made of pure darkness." Mortimer held out his hand and it turned into a black mist and swirled around them.

Adrian covers Asta as the black mist surrounds them. "You must forget. Even within the darkness there is still light" In his hand, The dual chains on Darklight curl themselves around Adrian's arm and start to glow brightly. "Now let me show you what I learned about light and darkness. One must always balance the other." Adrian swings Darklight at the man, and from the keyblade, came chains of light to bound him with. "Feel the bonds that my light has created to help control my darker side."

As the chains of light bound him he began to scream. Suddenly he began to laugh menacingly. "You think your puny light will effect me." Mortimer formed the mist back into a hand that grew. It grabbed the girl and latched her to a tree. Mortimer formed a new hand that attached to his body. He grabbed the chains with it and slowly the chains started turning black. "I can read the darkness in your heart. It wants to be free. and it tells my that girl is the most important thing in your life." A smile stretched across his face.

Adrian grits his teeth and glances at Asta as she struggles to get free. "Let her go, or I'll kill you" More chains appear and instead of binding the man they slowly wrap around his body. "I will not let the darkness free, nor will I let you hurt Asta" Darklight shifts and turns white. Now what he held was Hope. Adrian grins and in a shift of light he disappears and appears behind the man. "I will not give up"

Mortimer summoned his scythe. He smiled as this was heating up. "Ah the sound of hope. Just like a canary is sings the most beautiful before the end." Mortimer turned around and grabbed the boy by his collar and slammed him to the ground. "You are not ready to defeat the darkness inside you." He held the scythe to the boys throat. He then slid it down and the scythe melted into the boys chest. "Remember this the next time you attack me. I WILL cut your darkness free." With those words Mortimer let his scythe fade and he started to walk to the forest. with a snap of his finger he freed Asta.

Adrian coughs and runs to Asta and checks for any injuries. He then turns to the man. "Never said, I was to defeat my darkness. I harbor darkness like everyone else. I believe in the balance of light and darkness. But when my darkness gets out of control, the balance is disrupted. My light was weak, so I strengthened it" Adrian stands, helping Asta up with him. He raises Hope towards the man and gives him a determined stare. "I will not allow you to free my darkness or take away my light. I will fight you with all my being if I have to" Asta stands beside him holding Brightening Heart. "I will fight you too, even though there might be no chance of winning"

Mortimer turned around and looked at them. He laughed. "It's true that humans have a balance. But having a corrupted heart takes that balance and throws it out. Your light is still weak. You have to truly defeat your darkness in order to achieve true balance. Your will and your girlfriend here are the only things keeping you from transforming into your darkness form. You wish to fight? Fine. But it isn't your time yet."
