Questionable Genius

I have no idea if this will be popular but here goes. Has anyone seen any movies where there were glaringly obvious science mistakes? I'm not talking about "Hey, broomsticks can't fly" or things that relate to magic, but things that were obviously just not thought out. It drives me crazy. Anyway, here is a place to rant about mistakes in movies that are SCIENCE RELATED and if no one else cares I will be happy to rant to myself.

Has anyone seen "Hollow Man" or whatever it was called. It was with Kevin Bacon I think, and he became invisible...anyway, there is a scene where two scientists are trying to escape an explosion and climbing as if their lives depended on it. Very dramatic. They are just high enough, the fireball literally licks her shoes. Problem is, the hottest part of a fire is the top and above, because heat rises. So they should have fried! It would have made the movie better too...

I know, I know. It's just a movie, let it go. Still, anyone have anything to add?

The bullets that make people fly when they are hit by them in moves. Have you ever seen someone get shot in real life? Unless you are using a gun that shoots bombs people are not going to fly when you hit them.

And talking about guns, why do hollywood think that we can't count? The gun holds 15 shells, the guy shoots 28 without reloading. How does that work? I tend to count gun shots (growing up in the streets you tend to do that so you know when ran away while they are reloading) and in most movies they seem to have magic guns that let them shoot far more bullets then the gun can hold.

People like John Woo are known for these type of movies with magic guns.

First, that movie was terrible and should never be mentioned.

Second, the hottest part of a fire is not necessarily at the top. For example, a butane lighter's flame's hottest point is not at the tip, but at the base (the blue part).

I agree. It was a complete waste of time.

In reference to this particular fireball, there wasn't a blue part and it was rising so I can only assume...

Has anyone seen Underworld Evolution? Those guns were sooo great. They worked after getting wet, they had almost limitless supplies of bullets, but most importantly, there were guns that shot sunlight! How cool is that? (Sarcasm)

I have got to stop letting other people pick what I watch.

but... they were *vampire* guns. That means they have special powers-- you know-- undead steel. The only thing that can keep them from working is lava. See... Life is to light as steel is to lava... see... it all makes perfect sense.

Now what I want to see is a hybrid vampire/werewolf gun. I bet it could shoot all sorts of crazy stuff.

Clearly a vampire/werewolf gun would contain silver sunlight and could only be destroyed by the fires of Mt. Doom. Logically, it's the only thing that makes sense.

Yes!!!!
And that explains the secret origins of the One Ring. Sauron must have been a werewolf/vampire-- Again, it makes perfect sense...
wear the ring long enough and you either become undead or some sort of monster. Furthermore, if a vampire were to wear the ring during the day, they'd be safe from the sun. There is a secret history here that the people deserve to know!

But werewolves and vampires are related. So why do they fight?

Going by the myth werewolves and vampires came from the same family with a rare blood disorder. A woman of the family gave birth to twins boys who also had the disorder, but also a odd mutation. One day the boys was out playing in the woods (they was ether kids or eary teens at the time). While they was playing one brother was attacked by a wolf, witch they fought off. And later that day as they was sleeping the other brother was bitten by a bat. Sometime later the events of that of day toke there toll and the twin brothers was never the same again.

Vampires' have a digestive system that can't brakedown all the things they need to live, so they try and take the thing they need from the blood of other people and animals since their system has already broken them down.

Werewolves' have a very high metabolism and low levels of iron in their blood. This drives them eat the meat and alot of it in order to get the iron, proteens, and fats they need to live.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also I hate it when hollywood missuses or misrepresents people or classes of people. Because of hollywood people like mercenaries, outlaws, and ninja are seen in this wripped light that is often wrong.

For ex, Ninja are not assassins who make a living by killing and blowing up stuff.

Ninja were used primarily as spies, not assassins. Their main job was to get info and maybe sabotage the otherside before reporting back to their lords. Ninja weapons tend to made from farm tools because ninja was at first outragged and/or homeless farmers back in the waring state times. There missoins were simpel in and out jobs. Often actting like field workers and other less threatening people. A ninja will only fight as a last resort and will often run away if found. Remember, you can't make your report to your master if you're die. That's why ninja have many skills for running away and hidding.

Also, shurikens are not really all that deadly. You mainly only used them for a distraction or to slow down someone or you just hurt them so they can't fight (but not kill them). Shurikens are only deadly if you aim for the head and neck area or you have possioned the tips.

...?
I loved The Hulk. I thought it was brilliant-- an incredible allegory... Most people I know disliked it though. I won't try to change your mind, but I'm curious, what didn't you like about it?

Isn't it lucky that neither of the brothers had EVER been bitten by, say, a chipmunk before that? Or a fish? A mosquito?

I thought that the concept of the hulk was cool, but I'd have to agree about the movie. I hate the way comic book-based movies are being mass produced so they're all action. They lose what was good about the original. Everytime someone mentions the Fantastic Four, a tiny piece of my soul dies.

In all fairness, not many people get chipmunk bites.
