The summer sun was beating down. It was about mid day, and Amira was doing what she typically did, flying around in the warm air. She flew up and down the river banks, looking for a nice place to land and enjoy a refreshing splash. She always made sure she was landing somewhere that not many others were, trying to avoid much contact with others.
She finally found a spot that looked pretty open, and decided to land. She hopped over to the river and used her wings to soak herself.

Shaman had left Enqueri sometime ago to wander around to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of their foresty home. It had taken alot of convencing to let her travel alone but find she got Enqueri, her lifemate, to agree to some alone time. Even if he hadn't Shaman would have let her mate know who was boss! No controlling this filly folks. Shaking her head and rolling her eyes at her big doof, though appearance wise Enqueri looked quite intimidating Shaman was anything but threatened. She inwardly shook off thoughts of love and focused on the present enjoying the slight breeze blowing through her hair.
She was just coming around the bend when a noise made her senses perk up. "Water!" She spoke out in happiness. Nothing was more fun then spending most of the day laying by the river and relaxing letting the stress seep away. "Oh." Shaman stopped short when she saw that she was not alone. A pretty colored winged mare was bathing in the waters. "Sorry I did not mean to disturb you there. May I join you?" She spoke with caution not knowing how the other would react to her presence.

Amira had heard the noise of something coming, but by the time she thought about reacting and flying away, the new mare was there. She thought a moment, and realized that even if she wanted to leave, her wings were wet, and she knew she couldn't fly very well when they were wet.
"Oh... Hi," Amira replied. She was taken back at the fact that another mare had confronted her. She was used to other not wanting anything to do with her. She was still unsure about the situation, and like most other confrontations, she tried to get out of it. "Actually, if you wanted to stay here, I could find another spot."

Shaman took in the other filly's skittish nature and tilted her head. She wasn't used to others backing away from her, they either greeted her or wanted to rumbled. BUT Shaman never fought, it just wasn't in her nature... at first if talking or backing away from the situation didn't work then Shaman wasn't shy with using force to make her point known. " Oh non-sense you were here first afterall. Besides I don't mind sharing." Shaman smiled trying to hide her fangs not wanting to intimidate. " And don't let my appearance fool ya, I mean you no harm. I'm just an ol' gal looking for some food and some good ol' relaxation!"
Shaman cautiously made her way towards the female, close but not too close to make the other feel uncomfortable, and used her head to point towards the water. " How is the water? Not too cold is it?" She asked warily as cold water though refreshing could bring about sickness. Another thought crossed her mind causing her to blink in shock. "Ah how rude of me. I am Shaman! Nice to meet ya! And you are? You passing by or do you live around these parts?" Shaman paused inorder to catch her breath, sometimes she could be overwhelming with the questions she liked to ask. She was curious by nature afterall.

"There's plenty of water downstream," Amira replied, "I could just as well gander down there." She didnt want to upset the mare, but she just wasn't used to treatment like this.
Once Amira realized that the mare wonted to continue the conversation, she felt a little more comfortable, and let down her guard, but not to much. "Well, this is the perfect spot if you wanted to relax. The water is warm, but still cooler than the sun beating down on you." Amira splashed a bit more water on herself as she started to dry. "My name's Amira, its a pleasure to meet you."

Shaman felt a smile go across her face as she not only felt the other relax but converse as well. "Nice to meet you Amira! Interesting and pretty name you have there. I am called Shaman." She nodded her head in greeting before continuing. "So do you live around these parts? Or just flying around? It must be so nice to float around in the sky." Shaman moved closer to the water and bent down to emerse her nose into the liquid for a moment before moving her up to look at Amira. "Yes that is exactly what I am looking for, a place to sit back and enjoy mothernature."
Shaman sighed happily as she moved bodily into the water enjoying how it colded her warm body. The sun hadn`t been too bad in the morning but mid-afternoon the rays were getting a little bit harsh. "So are you traveling alone? Or with family and/or mate? Any plans for the day 'mira?" Shaman asked not to be nosy but just to make conversation. She didn`t get much girl talk as she spent most of her time with Enqueri.

"Shaman is a nice name," Amira replied to the mare, "Is there a meaning behind it?" Suddenly Amira paused for a moment. She wished she could take back the last question, because she knew that she might get the question in return, and thats something she didn't want to answer. The meeting was off to a swell start, and she felt she might have just ruined it.
After a moment, Amira decided to continue in hopes that if the conversation went on, the mare wouldn't answer. "I usually hang around here, however I live near the forests entrance," Amira answered, "With Amenophis." She stopped another moment to think about him. She wondered what he was doing. She had left him this morning to take her flight.

Shaman smiled at Amira. "Thank you! Well a meaning... not per-say as my mother had gifted it to me before... leaving me behind to travel around the world. She was of spirital beliefs and thought the name was fitting for her child. Not that I mind as it represents those with knowledge of mystic, and I do love researching the different or unknown." Shaman opened her mouth to question what they other mares name meaning was, but before she could Amira continued onward with the conversation.
"Ah I see," Shaman wiggled her eyebrows. "Is this Amenophis your mate?" Shaman was curious by nature but not in the means where it would cause hurt or bad feelings, so she hoped it wasn't too much of a personal question. " The edge of the forest eh? Neat I live with my mate Enqueri just up those hills and around the corner. It's part mountain cave part underground cave. Its actually quite nice for all seasons. I do hope to travel a little bit with Enqueri, of course, before we plan to have children. I would so love having children that are a mixture of Enqueri and me." Shaman smiled longingly at future possiblities before coming back to the present. " So you hungry? Want to see if we can find something around here to eat? Or do you have other plans today?"

Amira let out a sigh of relief that Shaman did ask her name origins. The day would come when she would share that, but not today. "Wow, thats interesting," Amira said as she nodded. "I wonder about things, but never really stopped to think about researching them." The idea of the researching the unknown was intriguing to Amira, but not something she'd set herself out to do immediately.
As soon as Shaman mentioned Amenophis, Amira was sent into a split second of daydreaming. "Oh.... Uh... " she started as she felt herself flash back into reality. "Yes, he's my mate. I met him along the river banks, which is why I come here so often. Even when I am alone, I can feel his presence by standing along the river." As the mare explained about her mate and home, Amira looked, trying to see exactly where the mare was talking about. "Enqueri? Thats your mate?" she asked as she nodded. "We should all get together one day and hang out. Is he a wind soq?"
Food? Mmira thought about it. "Now that you mention it, I am a bit hungry. There are some really good berry bushes just upstream if you;d like to head up that way." Amira pointed her head in the direction of the berry bushes.

Shaman felt a soft smile creep onto her face, as soon as she had mentioned Amira's beloved's name she could see how much love the other female had for her mate. "Interesting symbolism, the river. Water sustains life and is the most abundant compound in all living things. It may represent the flow of your energies, the path of your life, or the passage of time. It also may be symbolic of your emotional well-being."
She paused there to bend down and take a much needed drink sometimes her words just got away with her. Amira's words made her giggle. "Ah Enqueri my little love-grump." Shaman winked and her next words were whispered. "Don't tell him I said that, he would never forgive me if I gave him cutsie nicknames." She laughed and began to speak in normal tones once again. "As to your question, no he does not have wings but is part unicorn minus the horn. That would be totally awesome! Enqueri does need more interaction." She chuckled sheepishly. " He has the social skills of a gnat sometimes, but he is very loyal as well as good to me and that is all that matters."
Shaman her head happy that her new friend?, I suppose, agreed it was time to find something to munch on. " Sounds like a plan, lead the way Amira and I will follow!"

"I never really thought about the symbolism." She continued to think about what the other mare had said. "Maybe that is why we clicked so well," she said to herself, as she began thinking about her love again.
When the mare started talking about cute nicknames, Amira giggled a bit. "I don't think we've really even realized whether we use nicknames like that," she said as she began to think, "but I'm sure that he has some for me." She giggled again, thinking about what nickname he might have for her. "And it sounds like you have a wonderful mate. I would really love to meet him. I bet he and Amenophis would get along very good as well."
As she finished her final thoughts, she motioned to Shaman. "The best berries are over here!" She began to walk along the riverbanks up to the bushes. She could almost taste them even as they approached the bushes.

Shaman continued to walk alongside her friend and nodding her head at the appropriate spots. Yeah it would be interesting to see the interaction between their males. Though Enqueri would probably just stand around and stare at nothing in boredom. He was a complicated fellow indeed, just when she thought she had him figured out he.. switched his attitude. Shaman shook her head. Males. She sigh inwardly in exasperation.
"Okay," She followed Amira. Suddenly the scent of earth, fruit, and clean air hit her nose making Shaman close her eyes in awe. "I would never get sick of this smell, so clean and earthy. We should meet up here at least once a year if we can or if life permits, and if you are interested?"

Amira lowered her head and reach out to grab a branch of the bush, and started enjoying a few berries. The sweet taste in her mouth consumed her for a minute. "This place is amazing." Amira said in agreement. "This would definitely be a great place to catch up with each other from time to time."

Shaman nodded as she headed towards the water for a drink. " It really would be, and by the looks of things not many soquili have passed this way. Hmm, I really should be doing some scouting. For food that is, our area is running low... I will have to plant some more if we ever have little ones in the future." Shaman stared off sadly into the distance for a few minutes before shaking her head and turning towards her friend. "We have been trying for so long now, oh well maybe someday good fortune will smile upon us."
