Requests to bring one's own weapon from home was unusual, but honestly Ary couldn't care less. Meant she had one less thing to provide, one less thing to clean, and one less thing to check extensively for defects. Well, more like several since she could never tell what kind of weapon her kid would need in the long run. "At least it isn't hand to hand..." she muttered, remembering the abnormal strength the kid supposedly had. Glancing around the room, multitudes of targets of every size, shape, color, and location in the room. Had to get rid of extras somehow, right?

Áróra was excited! She was finally going to be able to take the class for her new specially modified crossbow rifle. It s draw strength was a bit higher than normal; standard rifled crossbows maxed out at 225 lbs, hers was 300. It had also been modified to have a much longer powerstroke, and while she still had to pull the cable back for each shot, it had an added magazine with a 10 bolt capacity, which let it load itself after the shot. There was also an attachable scope, but for now, she wanted to use the ghost ring sight. It would be too easy with a scope and she was here to learn. Up until now, she had only shot it once or twice, but she had practiced loading the magazine, loading bolts without the magazine, pulling the cord back, aiming, disassembling and assembling it, and cleaning it. She was all ready! No more Nerf crossbow for her! Well, maybe still some Nerf crossbow, that was still fun, but regardless, she was graduating to the next stage! A smile on her face, a crossbow slung on her back, she entered the appointed room. “Hello?”

Ary, bored as usual, was flipping through an old-looking book when Áróra entered her classroom. "Yes, yes, hi. Assuming you're Áróra, I'm your teacher, Arytiss. Call me Ary, though. Since you've already told me we're working with crossbows and you've brought your own, I figured we'd work on aiming first half. Trust me when I say it wont be as easy as you think it'll be," she said without looking up from her book. Studying the page for a moment, a bookmark of sorts was slid between the open pages and the book was snapped shut.

Glancing up at last, the woman made no move to get off her desk and instead chose to study and watch her student from where she sat. "The windows shouldn't break, should you miss, so start shooting at the targets. When you've hit about... eh, ten or fifteen bulls-eyes, I'll ramp up the difficulty. Sound fair?"

“Hello Ary!” Áróra replied with a smile, “So ten or 15 bullseyes? That shouldn’t be too hard at this range…. It was hard to do with my Nerf crossbow, but that was very inaccurate.” She removed the crossbow from her back and double checked that the magazine was properly attached; she didn’t want to screw up and have a misfire or a jam. Holding it in her right hand, she pulled back the cord with her left. Áróra took careful aim, lining up the sight with the bull’s-eye. She took a deep breath and then exhaled, just before pulling the trigger. Unfortunately, she didn’t get a chance to see where it struck the target. It exploded upon impact, taking the target, as well as part of another target, with it.

“Ack!” Áróra exclaimed, “Someone must have mixed up the bolts! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to do that!” Removing the magazine, she opened up one side and checked the end of each bolt. “Well, it looks like that was the only exploder, all the rest in this batch are normal.”

"Again, it's more of a test to figure out how skillful you are. At first it'll be easy but I did say I would ramp up the difficulty since I obviously have more than enough targets for you to hit," Ary replied, gesturing widely at the room. She had to have had at least three hundred set up and even more lying in wait for more difficult exercises she had planned out.

Of course, the first shot blew up three targets. At that rate she'd run out of things to hit. And quickly. "Eh, as long as you weren't planning on destroying every target like that, it's fine. Needed to get rid of some of them anyways," she said, apparently uncaring that the one Áróra had hit was now a smoldering pile of ash on the floor. "And since I can't tell where it hit, that doesn't count as a bullseye even if it does in reality," she added with a soft snicker. Explosions cured the need for accuracy, that was for sure.

“That was just a mix up,” Áróra replied, biting her lip slightly, “I don’t plan on blowing anymore up. Well, unless I am suppose to, though I don’t have many of those bolts on me. I have a few other special ones too, but most are just regular bolts. I should have double checked before loading though, it won’t happen again!” She couldn’t believe she had made such a mistake at her class. Part of her wondered how they had gotten mixed up, the other part of her couldn’t believe that she had missed it.

Carefully placing the magazine back into the crossbow, she easily pulled the cord back and carefully took aim. It shouldn’t be too hard, at this distance, especially with the sights. The first shot was a bull’s-eye, on the very edge of being a bull’s-eye but still within the center circle. She then pulled back the cord, the bolt being pushed automatically in place thanks to the mechanisms of the crossbow. Taking aim again, she released the bolt and scored another bull’s-eye, this one closer to the direct center. The next 7 shots, the rest of the magazine, resulted in 7 more carefully aimed bull’s-eyes. She then popped the magazine out and pulled a fresh one out of her bag. After a quick scan to make sure they were all normal, she reloaded the crossbow, pulled back the cord, and once more took aim. After 6 more shots, she had her 15. “Ok, done!” she exclaimed with a smile.
