The cabin looked pretty normal from the outside, just like every day plain-Jane log cabins. They were square and had little square windows on either side of the door and windows on the sides. There was also no sign of a TV antenna or anything awesome like that. There was a small step up to the actual inside of the cabin. From the door you could see 6 beds total; actually four of the six beds incidentally were bunk beds. One on top of the other, then two singles off to the sides, though they could be made bunk beds too obviously.

There was a small den area that had six bean bag chairs and long coffee table, obviously for snacks or when the kids wanted to sit and talk, play games or do other such fun things. If nothing else but to keep the kids occupied when it was a rainy day and they couldn’t actually do anything outside.

Not far from any of the cabins were washrooms, not quite outhouses or port-a-johns; they were pretty nice for being in a log cabin type building and in fact it sort of reminds one of those fancy restrooms that theme parks, or stadiums, or even race tracks have, with toilets and sinks.

First. FIRST!

To a competitive girl like Aitana being the first one to pop her head into their cabin was not an option. It was an absolute requirement.

The door smacked the wall fairly hard as she yanked it open, staring around the place with interest. It was simple, but not terrible at all. She'd stayed in far more rustic places before back at home.. even slept in a tiny tree shack once with her father. It was cozy and simple. The perfect place to crash after a day full of running around.

She was VERY happy to note the bunk beds and that was the first place she headed, plopping her bag down alongside one of the sets of bunk beds that wasn't pushed up against the wall. She wanted freedom on both sides thank you!

She would be happy to meet and greet the rest of her cabin mates when they showed up. But for now she was happy just claiming a bed for Coralie and herself. Territory staked out she unzipped her duffle bag, rustling through it just recall what exactly she had remembered to pack and bring.

User ImageHarper loved these every day plain-Jane log cabins. They had all of the sweet wood smell of her family's work shed or the barn where she worked without the pungent additives that came with them. Or, at least they did some years ago when she last came to Larkspur. Outside, she again hefted the backpack higher on her shoulders and followed after a rather excited, green haired camper who had bound through the door. The ceremonial claiming of the beds. Uh oh.

In her nostalgic mental adventure, she had completely forgotten about bunk beds. It's not that Harper disliked sharing, or even being that close to other people, but all it had taken was one summer of a particularly sloppy bunk-mate and she had been put off of them for life. But, if being at camp meant trading off this one inconv-- Wait. Brown eyes spotted two open, regular beds near the wall and she was off in a flash! (Or rather, a flash hampered down with a backpack and sleeping bag.) With a rush of exuberance and a sigh of relief, the top half of Harper's body flopped down on the single the minute she was close enough. Content with her own victory, Harper began to dismantle the sleeping bag from its coils.

[Tardy addition to Oleander Cabin. <3 I'm ttly up for cabin rps!]

When she heard another person enter her eyes immediately lifted to see if it was her friend but it was teal hair she saw, not pink. The girl quickly claimed one of the other beds, a single and started to go through her things as well.

Glancing down at the duffle bag.. which really didn't have a whole lot of anything.. she realized she was more interested in her other camp mate, calling out to her cheerfully. "Allo! I am Aitana"

The words were syruped in an obvious accent, brazilian to be exact, and she stood with one hand on her hip, grinning to the other girl. "You go to Meadowview?"

More importantly "You like sports and games?"

The sleeping bag had just given up on its last knot holding it closed -- freeing itself to be rolled out and exposing its pillow-filled center, thoroughly claiming the bed -- when Harper was addressed by her cabin-mate. What an accent! Certainly unexpected, that. She hoped everyone in Oleander would be as friendly and turned, smiling, to answer the greeting.

"I'm Harper! I go to Crystal Academy, actually... but I do like sports and such, yeah! I'm not on any teams or anything, because I'm sorta terrible at most of them, but it's fun nonetheless," she admitted, laughing a bit at her own ineptitude. She knew Meadowview trounced Crystal Academy at just about every sporting event.

"It is fun" She agreed to the statement slowly. Harper sucked at them hmmm? That was a little dissapointing. The girl was friendly enough though, so that was fine. It wasn't like everyone was an athlete. Heck.. if noone else was as good as her it just meant she'd be the star if they had any cabin versus cabin games or competitions. The thought drew a bit of a grin to Aitana's face. Still 3 or 4 unknown girls left to show up though.

"Do you know any of the others in cabin?"

"My friend Coralie is here too. She is very nice and sweet. Pink pigtails down to floor." Her hands lifted to motion pigtails, just incase she hadn't chosen the correct word.

Pink pigtails down to the floor is exactly what walked through the door at that moment, bag slung over her shoulder and eyes critically examining every inch of the small cabin. Not finding anywhere to plug in her laptop she sighed greatly. Well, she had three or four books tucked into her baggage along with the ereader she had surreptitiously used Blanche's money to purchase under Perry's nose.

The days of robbing banks were over, but she was still rather sneaky.

Walking over to her friend she looked at the top bunk, then the bottom, then back up again. "Bottom." Without even waiting for Aitana to answer, Allie flopped herself down onto the bottom bunk and dropped all her bags to the opposite side of the bed. "Feels good to be on my back! Did we have to go through all of it?" She was referring, of course, to that long tour.

Pigtails flopping she regarded the other occupant of their little cabin. "Hi! Sorry! I am Coralie but you can call me Allie if you want." A sunny smile was aimed like a beam and she remained sprawled on the little bed without a care in the world.

Taking a moment to mull it over, Harper thought back to the cabin assignments and the faces she saw during the tour. The Lydia girl had looked familiar, so she may have been from Crystal, too, but others were a blur of new faces. She had been rather distracted with just being excited, though. And no one needed to know that.

Coralie's description was barely out when the spitting image entered the cabin. If Harper hadn't been told that they were friends, their mannerisms would have clued her in quickly. That kind of natural, unspoken language only came with friendship, or perhaps business partners.

"I'm Harper! Aitana was just telling me you'd be here," Harper said, mimicking the motion Aitana had made for 'pigtails.' Indeed, they were quite long and distinctive, and she was quite sure she wouldn't know what to do with so much hair. "And I was just saying that I don't really know anyone else here at camp," she laughed. "I've been to Larkspur plenty of times before, though." It was years ago now, and though the memories were a little blurry, they were quite fond. "What about you guys?"

It had maybe been a dumb idea to go through the whole tour with all of her bags still with her, but Gigi hadn’t wanted to miss anything. Despite years of pining and begging, this was her very first actual summer camp. So far, it was living up to her expectations, though she was mildly concerned that creepy-crawlies might work their way in through the log walls. Oh well, she’d just have to brave it.

She poked her head into her designated cabin, waving to the other girls as she finally ditched the overstuffed bags. She didn’t know any of them by name, but she’d seen both green and pink around Meadowview. Awesome.

First mission, beds. She didn’t intend to be spending that much time sleeping, so it didn’t really matter one way or the other. But it was always better to check.

“Hi guys! Anyone claimed this one?” she pointed to the second single bed.

Speak of the devil angel. She hadn't so much as described her when Coralie appeared in the doorway, quickly making her way over to the bunk bed and claiming the lower of the bunk. Aitana did no argue, having wanted the top all along anyway. And as Coralie flopped onto the bottom bed, Aitana grabbed the top, spider monkeying her way up the tall structure just to prove the fact that she could. She had no intentions of using the little ladder EVER. Ladders were for the weak!! Though... unbeknown to her it was likely lack of energy would send her up the more traditional way as the week drew on.

Once on top she dangled a little, her braids hanging loosely down along with her upside down face as she peered at her friend. "We will explore better on our own anyway. Big group was crazyyyy"

Harper's words drew her attention however and she looked up, or rather down, curiously at the other girl. She'd been there before? A veteren then! The poor girl would probably find herself bombarded in a million questions before the week was over. "I've never been before. To any camp at all. This place is fun yes?" Reassurance never hurt.

Another person entered and Aitana dangled again for a better view, taking in the dark haired girl with interest. "Noone is in bed yet. Slow pokes get the rest of the bunk beds"

"Harper, Coralie, Aitana" She added after a few seconds, pointing to each girl in turn.

"Aha, good point! Last choice for them!" Gigi grinned at the upside-down girl and moved one of her bags onto the bed in claimage. "I'm Gigi!" she responded, waving to the three. "Pleased to meet you!"

Unpacking was still secondary to looking around. She’d expected the cabins to be just plain places to sleep, but the comfortable little den area delighted her. Beanbags were a special kind of love all by themselves.

But the cabin was still missing an important part of the camp experience. After rummaging around in her pack for a moment, she plopped a bag of marshmallows on the low table, open for sharing. There, now it was home.

Aitana gazed curiously at the item set onto the table, having a little trouble at first from the distance she was at. But she quickly figured it out and nodded in approval. Mushmallows! They were always a super fun food. Not to filling and perfectly safe for the ever fun game of trying to catch thrown ones in your mouth. Or playing target practice with someone else's.
