Hi I'm new to the guild and relatively new to D and D as well. I've only done 1 campaign so far and it was in 4.0 not 3.5 as most people play. I was wondering what the difference is between the two. Also I was wondering if there are any campaigns that are starting up that need more players

3.5 is older and vastly more complex, with myriads more character options and a lot more potential rules. NEITHER IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER, NO EDITION/FLAME WARS PLEASE!

I mean 4.0 is probably great for beginner's like myself but I'm not going to say one is better than the other. I'd really like to try 3.5 sometime soon though.

I also have the Character builder but it's geared more towards 4.0 rather than 3.5

Gah...4.0 sucks! Flame flame flame.... Radah radah radah... But seriously, I also started with 4.0. I don't mind it, it does play alright. The part I couldn't get is that you never use basic attacks, just some skill/spell/prayer/ect that is far better than your basic attack and you have infinite of. At wills kick 0 level spells butts in 4.0, but I prefer my infinite spells to be less powerful. Also all players are almost God Modded. Your health is way to high, which only makes combat take ages. This is good for beginners because it lets them fight a young dragon that is made for characters level 4 at level 1. That is a crazy jump, but hey, you will never die!
In 3.5 I liked how my Cleric was able to pick from every prayer at the start of each day. I think that is what brought me back into the older version. Now that I discovered pathfinder, the game only gets more real with more real life factors being added to the game. I like complex, so pathfinder is my game, but I can and will play any.
