Her week would normally not feel complete without a trip down to the Reaper dorms, to visit a certain boil she had somehow grown rather attached to, even if she had the impression that he might not feel the same way about her. Recently, however, between classes, homework, open house and the upcoming prom, she hadn't really found the time to visit him at all. She did send him a couple of groanspring messages though, not that he replied all of them...
In fact, her purpose for coming down to the Reaper dorms was not to visit him, but to visit his neighbor... Who is a much nicer person. And willing to humor her. And did not mind her taking his arm or hugging him. And got her an adorable foxfire plushie from a UFO catcher machine on his first try. And is going to be her date escort partner for prom.
The last 'fact' made her grin happily.
Pausing outside Mac's room, she frowned, the foxfire plushie (named Fluffy) held in her arms. Why is she doing this again? Part of her was telling her to leave, lest he ends up ruining her good mood... A moment of hesitation later, however, she ended up knocking on his door anyway; if he's in, he's in. If he's not, no harm done!
"Mac?"

Mac was actually working on something when the knock came to his door. He was all set to ignore it, to instead focus on this letter he was writing...until he heard his name through the wood. Black eyes lifted to regard the closed door, and with a sigh he put his pen down, pushed his chair away from his desk, grudgingly got to his feet and headed over.
Two lock releases later (hey, you could never be too careful!) and the door was opened, leaving a hatless, grey turtleneck wearing Reaper to stare down at the Demoness. Despite being interrupted, he did offer her a smile of greeting. Hey, it was a start at least!
"Lizzy." He added her name to his greeting smile, and after a moment he simply asked: "Yes?" He figured she'd just tell him why she was here, so long as he wasn't grumpy about it. He could very easily do that later.

All negative thoughts vanished when she saw his smile, and she was quick to smile in return. She considered balancing the plushie on her head to free her arms in order to hug the reaper, but decided that no, he would probably laugh at her. Instead, she carefully placed Fluffy on the ground beside her before wrapping her arms around his waist, leaning on him gently, marveling at how warm and soft he felt. Or rather, his shirt felt.
Okay, maybe it hadn't been that long since they last saw each other.
"I was just next door at Mot's," She explained without looking up, feeling rather comfy where she was, "And decided to see if you're in... And I bought something from the Maul some time ago. It reminded me of you when I saw it, so I decided to get it for you~" Besides, seeing him made her realize that she missed him. Releasing him from the hug, she then picked up the plushie and dusted it off before realizing that it looked like her gift was the plushie... Which it was not.
"Oh! I didn't mean Fluffy! I bought you a shirt!" She clarified quickly, tucking Fluffy under her arm before searching through her bag. She eventually pulled out a white shirt, packed neatly in a plastic bag. On the front of the shirt, it clearly reads "I'm with Stupid --->" in a bold, black font. Holding it out to Mac with a sheepish smile, her cheeks turned a faint shade of pink, "Um... Not usually my type of thing, but... I thought it might give you a good laugh?"

Enoh Love Surprisingly, Mac was not expecting a hug. He SHOULD have expected it, but he did not. So it was pretty needless to say that the sudden feel of her arms around his waist, or the slight weight of hers against his chest, was something that threw him off guard. For a moment or two he just stared down at her, pretty much gaining nothing but a nice view of the top of her head with those small demon horns poking out from the mass of pink hair.
He wasn't sure what to do, so he settled with a little pat on the back. That was probably for the best; hugging her still felt...kind of odd. Especially only after just realizing that she was a ghoul under all that Demon. A cool one, temperature wise. Hey, things took time in his head! It probably didn't help that he refused to admit that her lack of body heat actually felt good against him, even through the shirts.
Ugh.
"Something for me?" He repeated, brushing aside the information that she was visiting his neighbour. Black eyes moved to stare at the plushie in her arms, and with a wrinkled nose he was about to comment when she corrected herself and fished out his actual gift. A shirt? He liked shirts. Wore them often he did. When he saw what was printed on it however, he burst out laughing, as she expected.
"Wow, Lizzy! This is awesome! I love it, thank you." He laughed out, taking the shirt from the bag and putting it on right over top of the shirt he was currently wearing. It was a little tight and clung to his body tighter than the shirt he was already wearing, but probably having the shirt underneath didn't help. "I love it." He repeated, moving a little bit to stand suspiciously to one side of the poor Demoness at his door.
Dragain "I'm glad!" She would have cheered, but settled for grinning instead, feeling rather pleased with herself for finding something that Mac liked. He even said thank you! Hugging the plushie close to her as she watched him put the shirt on, Lizzy couldn't help but frown slightly at the way he was stretching the material; it would be a perfect fit (she had an eye for these things!) if not for the fact that he was wearing it over the shirt he was currently wearing... Not that she was going to complain out loud. Better that than another SUDDENLY MAN CHEST in her face.
She might had blushed a little at the thought.
"What are you- Oh no you don't-" She raised a finger, but it was too late. He was standing at her side, with the arrow under 'I'm with Stupid' pointing at her. She pouted, took a step to the side, and then held out the plushie to where she was standing just a moment ago before looking up at the boil, clearly amused. Judging from the way she was giggling and smiling though, she didn't take offense to what Mac just did, rather used to his treatment by now. She had sort of expected it actually, when she bought the shirt with the intention of giving it to him.
"Anyway, just popped by to see you really," She nodded; having completed the 'task', however, she found herself staring into his room before looking at him again, "Ohh, which reminds me! Did you ask Tess yet?" He said that he was going to, judging from his Groanspring replies, but she wasn't sure if he had done anything since then. Enoh Love "A little too late, I think." Mac was grinning practically from ear to ear as she scolded him and moved away. Effectively ignoring the plush, Mac leaned back at the waist, holding onto the bottom hem on the shirt and pulling it out a bit to see it more, which really only served to make him look about five. A five year old with a new manbat shirt. Minus the manbat shirt. Soon enough he decided to take note of the plush, and he swatted at it as though it offended him.
"I'm not with that stupid. The earlier stupid was better." He commented idly, of course referring to preferring Lizzy over the plush as his 'stupid'. To him, there wasn't an ounce of dual meaning behind what he said. Not a single one.
"I did." And judging from his grin, he was successful, too. "Though, apparently, she was worried that you put me up to it." He also looked back into his room, then back at the Demoness, and moved to push open his door a little further, to allow her inside. "You can come in, if you wanted." Minding the mess of course, including the unopened box from his parents (he knew it was from them, it said 'Leander' on it) that was still on the floor due to Charlie's flailings the day or so ago.
Dragain "Hey, don't swat at Fluffy," She quickly brought the plushie back into her arms as she pouted, hugging the cowboil fail-foxfire plushie close, "Its a gift from someone!" That and she was rather proud of the hat she had made for it.
"Ohh, better, you say?" She giggled; hey, she's an optimist, never mind how he really felt about the matter. At his response to her question, she returned the grin with one of her own, although she was visibly more excited about it, "Awesome! And really? Tess really said that?" She couldn't resist chuckling softly at the thought of anyone trying to influence Mac to do anything, "As if anyone can make you do something you don't want to do~ I'm glad though! Now two of my good friends are going together!" That and she still felt rather bad about Sepheran; the boil had somehow ended up as Arachne's potential "special someone" although Lizzy was the one who had introduced him to Tess in the first place.
"I would like that," She smiled fondly at Mac before walking into the room; the mess did not really bother her at all, since she was rather used to it. She was careful not to step on any of the things he had left on the ground, including a box with... Hm... She stared at the name printed on it with a puzzled expression before looking up at the reaper, tilting her head to a side, "Leander?" Enoh Love "Don't tell me what to do." Mac sneered teasingly. Apparently he was in a pretty good mood today! Perhaps it was the shirt that put him on that particular path. "And Someone? Mot, maybe?" The Reaper teased; it looked like a fail cowboil foxfire, and he only knew one cowboil Reaper. Plus she admitted to being in the dorms for Mot, so, it worked in the end.
"That's what I told her. She seems to think you think highly of me, how crazy is that~" Shrugging, he headed into the room, leaving Lizzy to close the door behind her. As he expertly moved towards his desk he also took off the shirt; the tighter fit new one pulling up the shirt he was already wearing and, in the process, nearly took off both shirts in one go. Luckily he managed to separate them before that happened!
"Hmm? What?" He said on reflex upon hearing 'Leander', pivoting at the waist to look over his shoulder at her, still in the process of pulling his actual shirt down properly. Naturally he followed her gaze to the box, and he gave a rather grouchy sounding sigh. "Oh that. I ignore it, and I think it'd best you do too." Nevermind she had found out his real name; oh well, best to just ignore it for the time being!
Dragain "Yes sir," She replied, that close to sticking her tongue out at him before his comment, or rather, the way he made his comment caught her off guard, her cheeks turning a pale shade of pink as she nodded, "Mmm, from him taking me to the arcade! He won it for me from a UFO catcher machine on his first try! I never knew it could so so fun despite the... Loud noises and bright colors... I wouldn't mind going back again, actually, despite that." That was something about the arcade she still couldn't fully appreciate; it reminded her of Christmas town, which wasn't a very pleasant place at all despite the stories she had heard, "He's an awesome guy and he agreed to be my dat-" Not date. Not escort. Ah, yes...
"- Partner to the prom. His outfit looks great too!" She finished, her cheeks visibly redder as she stared at Mac like he had just said something silly. Which he did, in her opinion. "Oh? But I do! I mean, I like you a lot - if I didn't, I would have tried to stop Tess from saying 'yes' instead of encouraging her. She's a really good friend of mine, after all..." Her voice faded as she stared at him (in mild horror) as he attempted to take off the shirt that he had worn over his other shirt; she did not want SUDDENLY MAN CHEST in her face, but she could not look away. She didn't even respond to his comment on the name 'Leander' until his shirt was down properly, and the danger of SUDDENLY MAN CHEST was no more.
"You responded to it!" She pointed out before giggling, "Oh, so that's your real name! Leander... I like it." It sounded refined, but she couldn't help but think that it might be too 'grown up' for him, the same reason why she doesn't use 'Elizabeth' when introducing herself nowadays. She did as she was told, ignoring the box as she stepped over it to approach him, not sure where to stand. Enoh Love "Ah, the scarecade..." Mac trailed off with a low chuckle, shaking his head. "I'm convinced that place hates me, but I'm glad you had fun." It was loud, there were a lot of bright colours, and while he couldn't picture Lizzy ever going there on her own accord, he still guessed it could happen. Well, since it obviously clearly did. The news that Mot was taking her to prom though, kind of surprised him.
"Ah, I see." It felt a little...strange to hear that she was going with Mot. He couldn't place his finger on why, though. "Well, Mot's a good guy, I'm sure you'll have fun." Further surprise came when she stressed that she liked him; honestly, he didn't see that one coming. Though, considering the circumstances...it should have been obvious. After all, why would you hang out with someone you hated? ...Okay, so Mac wasn't the poster boy for that particular case. Still, he couldn't resist the small grin and the teasing voice. "You like me, huh?" Lame yes, but still a good question.
"And yeeeeah...that's it." Mac sighed, half heartedly folding the new shirt to drape it over the back of his chair. "I can't stand that name." Well, he could stand it, just the only people who used it were people he loathed. Nobody at school - not even the teachers - had called him 'Leander' yet.
Dragain "That place hates you? Really?" She blinked, not quite sure how a 'place' can hate anyone... Unless its a room used for detention. Those rooms hates students, she's convinced, filled with attacking machines, "I did! Not going back there again without someone with me though... I actually wanted you to take me, but you weren't in that day! Mot happened to hear me knocking on your door. We should go together one day!" And she will somehow get him to try for a plushie from the same machine because plushies... Are addictive.
"He is!" She beamed; it was a little weird to hear Mac talk positively about anyone openly, but it made her smile to hear it, "I had a lot of fun with him during open house, although for some reason, when we're together, he can't win the games I'm winning at, which ended up being most of the stuff we did." She giggled, remembering their conclusion of him being her lucky charm of sorts, "Which reminds me... Where were you that day anyway? I couldn't find you around." She pouted, "I wanted to play some games with you too!"
Even Amrita was there! Although she didn't see Tess around that day either; maybe she missed them in the crowd?
"I do!" She replied in a heartbeat, although a second later, she was blushing and fidgeting with the hat on Fluffy, as if realizing something, "In the Amrita way and not in the Charlie way!" She clarified with a nod of her head before she paused momentarily, shuffling her feet, "Um... Do you like me?" As in Amrita-like, of course; she still can't understand what goes on in the reaper's head sometimes.
"Aw, really?" She was still blushing, but it wasn't as obvious now. Tucking Fluffy under an arm, she raised a hand, "How did Leander-" She raised her other hand, "-become Mac?" Enoh Love "Yup. Hates me. Pretty sure all the games side with Jericho." Mac explained, without actually explaining anything at all. Oh, so she wanted to go with him instead? Well, that was a nice sentiment. Good that she made a new friend and all, but hearing that he was her first choice? Kind of made him feel pretty good. "Alright, I'll take you one day." He agreed with a little nod.
"Well, either he was letting you win, or Mot's got a little crush." Mac grinned, teasing the both of them with only the one present. As to where he was, he just shrugged. "I had things to do." It was a simple, non-commital explanation that likely meant 'I didn't feel like going', but who could tell, honestly. The Reaper's black gaze moved to observe the snoozing whippoorwill on the bird stand in the back corner of the room, and then at the suddenly blushing, sheepish looking Lizzy.
"..." Of course she meant in the Amrita way. Naturally she did. Turning he leaned back against his desk, hands hooking along the old oak ledge. "Well, you're in my room, aren't you?" Was his simple answer, shoulders lifting in a shrug. He at least put up with her, he still hadn't decided - or perhaps didn't want to admit to - anything else.
"As for the nickname...I have no jackin' idea, honestly. Someone called me Mac once and it stuck." Which probably why he didn't like 'Puppy' at all, considering it was a random nickname and had a very good chance of sticking.
Dragain "Games take sides?" She blinked, although Mac's next comment prompted a wide eyed look that showed that she was genuinely surprised. It didn't take long for her to process the information and let out a little cheer, her face lighting up, "It's a da-" A quick pause followed as she gave a nod, trying to ignore her own slip up even if her blush made it rather obvious, "A promise!"
She might have stressed the word 'promise' a little too much.
"W-wha- No way!" Her face was just getting redder and redder, and she hugged the plushie in her arms closer to herself, like it could hide her from the teasing Mac somehow, "W-we've only known each other for a while! I mean, he's very nice, but I didn't think he was letting me win at all! And besides, most of the games we played were luck-based..." She trailed off, not quite sure why she even bothered to explain herself, "A-anyway! I think he just doesn't mind humoring me..."
While his answer to her question prompted an 'awwww' from her, she soon took a few steps forward, placing Fluffy down on the desk behind Mac and then proceeded to hug him. She was careful not to throw him off balance though, as she looked up at him from the hug, "That's the closest you ever admitted to not disliking - and liking - me!" She sounded really happy at that as she released him from the hug, staring at him with a grin on her face.
"That's weird!" She giggled softly as she collected Fluffy before standing beside Mac, leaning against the desk as well, "At least it wasn't Puppy~ I've been trying not to use it since we returned from... Well, the island." She sounded proud of herself, although when she said 'the island', she visibly winced, like she wasn't ready to talk about the place again yet.

Okay, Mac had to laugh at that.
"Mostly-friends can make a 'date', too. There's really nothing special about the word." He shrugged, still chuckling. "It just means we've made a day to go and do something." As friends. It was really only ghouls that attached such meaning to a word that just means...well, a committed day. Or part of the day. Still, it was an amusing thought. "Who knows, maybe you could ask him one day." Was there a little hint of snide to his voice? There was! A very tiny one. Mostly because, well, he knew her track record when it came to asking boils about their feelings. Oh, Lizzy.
This time he was prepared for the hug, and managed to brace himself in time for it. This time she received a little more of a real hug back, meaning all he really did was wrap his arms around her for just a moment.
"What's so surprising about that, eh?" Mac challenged, somewhat baffled that she would put it like that; the closest he'd ever been to admitting he didn't like her? What the hell was all those other times, like that one time in her room? Geez this Demon was just...sigh. He released her when he had to, looking down at her out of the corner of his eye when she mimed his leaning position.
"I did notice, thank you."

"Well... I suppose you're right..." There was a 'but' that was left unsaid as she played with the hat on the plushie, staring down at it with a thoughtful expression. But a date is meant to be special. But a date makes it sound like more than just two 'friends' going out. But she had never been on a 'date' with a boil before and want her first to be memorable, and not... Well, not special.
For example, so far, all her meet-ups with Jericho had video games in them. Whoops.
"Ask Mot out on a-" She paused, raising an eyebrow as she blushed, leaning back against the desk a little more to stare at the ceiling, "Well, after the prom, there are exams... And after exams, there's quite a long school break, right? I'm moving home until school starts again... So I bet I'll be bored when I'm not helping mother out in the shop. Maybe one day..." She had never really thought of Mot as anything more than a friend, but who knows? Feelings change, after all, although that Mot... Such a ladies' man.
It would be problematic for her if she feels anything for him...
"Hm? Well, it's just that for every one time you are actually nice to me, you are mean to me for another time," She pouted, turning her head to look at him as she continued to fidget with the hat on the plushie, "For example, you were gentle to me when I was down in the dumps, which was weird but... Nice. Then you had to toss me in the water when I wasn't ready. I know you wouldn't allow me to drown, but..." She inhaled sharply, "But it didn't help me get over the fact that a student had intentionally tried to drown me. In a vat of bleach. And the pool smells like bleach..."
She tensed up at the memory before hugging Fluffy and sighing, "I trust you and you're important to me just like Amrita and Tess and Arachne, but... You just give off such mixed messages sometimes." If speaking 'boil' was tough, speaking 'Mac' was even tougher.
"And you're welcome."

"...So after that, I'm not going to see you for a while?" It kind of slipped out before he could stop it. He was starting to take advantage of school life and knowing that his friends were ALWAYS there, or that there were no parents outside of school authorities. But a long break...? That wasn't something he thought about. But that's probably due to transferring in to the school so late. It was something he still didn't want to think about though, at all.
"But that's who I am." Mac replied with a shrug. He was kind of always like that, or so he was told. The only time he legitimately tried to be mean was when there was a strange demon involved, or someone got on his bad side. But this wasn't the first time he had heard this, though. "Or so I'm told." The reaper ruffled his hair - or rather his hat - and pressed his lips into a thin line.
"I'm sorry about the pool thing, I didn't know." About the drowning of course. Things might have been different had he known that, which did cause an ounce of guilt to stab him right thought the heart. He mulled it over for a bit, and finally decided something. He looked down at her again, out of the corner of his eye.
"How can I make that up to you?"

"Yeah..." She answered softly, pouting a little as she looked up, "School will be out though... And I'm not sure staying in the dorms will be such a good idea. Besides, I kind of miss my mother..." A faint blush appeared on her cheeks as she said that, and she quickly added, "Don't you miss your family too?"
She listened to him quietly, not saying anything at all as she started twirling a lock of her hair around her finger as she stared at Fluffy. Part of her knew that Mac was just that way, but...
"Well, Mot said that you weren't grumpy around him," She pointed out, still staring at the plushie, "I guess I'm just a little sad that you would treat me differently just because... You know..." Just because she's a demon. His next comment genuinely surprised her, and her eyes widened as she looked up, staring at him in mild disbelief. She frowned, not sure if he was joking about it; then again, he sounded sincere enough.
"And it's fine... I guess it's true that you didn't know..." She offered him a small, sheepish smile, "If the offer still stands though, how about a dance? I imagine that you would be quite busy during prom, but I uh, sort of do want a dance with you..." Her face was red by now, but she was determined not to look away, "If you don't want to hold my hand though, this might sound silly, but... Um..."
She paused momentarily before speaking again, her voice softer this time, "I've kind of always wanted to go to an amusement park."

"...Well, I don't miss my parents." He vaguely gestured to the box on the floor, and then at the unopened envelopes on his desk. "But there's nothing wrong with missing someone, I guess." The Reaper scratched along his chin, humming thoughtfully. "I miss my Aunt, for example. And Saide." As much as he hated to admit that he missed his little sister, he kind of did. The annoying little brunette who would duckling around the room.
"...Mot said that, really?" Brow raised, Mac looked surprised...and then frowned again as she trailed off. Yeah, he knew where she went with that, and whose to say that was the reason? Maybe Mot just hadn't been around long enough for him to be mean to; Lizzy had to have seen him with Charlie before.
"...A dance, really?" He sounded baffled, even going as far as to ignore the comment about the amusement park. Could he dance with her? That did involve holding hands and, to date, he had only held the hand of a Demon to give Charlie and Amrita some quality time together.
Frowning to himself, he pushed off of his perch on the desk and moved around, starting to shove things aside with his foot. When he was finished there was a wider space of clear around them. Still wordlessly he moved past her, moving to sit down at his computer chair, ignoring her still. After a little while a song started to play.
That was when Mac got up, rounded the desk, took off his hat...and offered his hand to Lizzy.

"Saide? Who's that?" She blinked, tilting her head; the name didn't ring any bells although she knew about Mac having an aunt from that time. She then nodded, "Yeah, he did... And yes, a dance. Really."
Did she sound like she was joking? Or maybe the request was just a little too sudden and out of the blue...
She kept quiet as he went around his room, doing what looked like random things to Lizzy. She wasn't expecting an immediate answer from him, but she was expecting some sort of an answer as she watched Mac. While she had seen him without his hat on plenty of times, when he took it off it front of her and offered her his hand, surprising her yet again, she started to blush. Putting Fluffy down on the desk, she took his hand, holding it gently as she beamed at him.
His hand is so... Big and warm... At that thought, her blush darkened and she looked away momentarily before relaxing and returning her gaze to his face.

"She's not important." Mac said, waving a hand in dismissal.
Instead, his fingers closed lightly around her hand, gently pulling her towards him. Without a second thought he adjusted their hands to have a more comfortable hold, his free hand moving to rest against her hip. He wasn't sure where she was comfortable putting her free arm, but the arm attached to the hand on her hip did nudge hers a little bit. As uncomforable as he was, he was convincing himself that he owed her this...yet a part of him, a small part of him, acknowledged that this discomfort was not the work of her specie. It had everything to do with a ghoul against him, who up until very recently looked like a wooden plank.
A ghoul who happened to be blushing an awful lot right now, enough to prompt a little one of his own. Normally he teased any ghoul who blushed at or because of him, but he couldn't bring himself to do it...right now, anyway. Instead he smiled down at her, careful to not look away, and lead her into a dance as slow as the song that played low in the background.
He didn't know what to say, so he just danced.

Feeling his hand on her hip didn't help with the fact that she was already blushing, although it did remind her to put her free hand on his shoulder.
It was a good thing Mac didn't tease her, because she was turning redder and redder with each passing second, and his teasing would no doubt have sped up the process. She wasn't even sure why she was blushing; it's just Mac, right? The last time she blushed this much while dancing happened to be the first and last time she had danced with a boil, back during Scarentine... And even with Jericho, she had things to say.
In fact, she wanted very much to say something as they danced, but realized that she couldn't come up with anything to say. Instead, she was distracted by those dark, black eyes of his and the way he was actually smiling at her without the need to make a comment. It was a good thing he was leading, because she was concentrating too hard on not looking away due to feeling bashful all of a sudden to focus on anything else.

This was probably the first time he felt the need to thank his Aunt. Those stupid 'family' bonding times of dancing on Spookday afternoons. He had hated doing it, absolutely hated it; but his Aunt knew him, and she always had something to bribe him with. Deals were made and a younger Mac had never missed a spookday dance. It certainly helped him make up to her for the whole throwing into the pool thing...and would likely also help a lot during the actual Prom, too. Dancing with Lizzy right now was a good practice; he hadn't danced in almost a year now! He was rusty, but luckily that part wasn't in question, and she was letting him lead just fine.
The blushing though! Oh dear jack the blushing. If she got any more red, she would turn into an apple! The soft smile twisted into the slightest of grins, leaning in just enough to lightly headbutt her forehead.
"You don't dance with boils often, do you?" He asked with a chuckle as slight as his grin. Though he really shouldn't be one to talk; he was blushing lightly himself, and his heart was pounding...and they weren't even flush together! Close, but not quite.

"Huh? Oh, um... N-no," She squeaked out, pouting at the headbutt although having him this close brought her close to the 'this is weird' feeling she had in her room the other day... As weird as it was, though, she did enjoy having him this close and not being a meanie, although a hug was still obviously better. Hugging someone, holding their hand and even taking their arm... It just feels good to know that her friends are there physically.
"You're actually the second one I've danced with since my enrollment in school," She replied, still pouting, although she sounded amused as she continued, "And in my defense, I think that dancing with someone I care about is somehow more difficult than dancing with a stranger..." It should be the other way round, but she was speaking from experience! She found keeping eye contact with Mac impossible without blushing when they're dancing.
Those dark, black eyes of his...
Unconsciously, her hand slid up his shoulder, resting near his neck, and she leaned in closer to take a better look at those eyes she found a sudden interest in, her expression softening as she relaxed ever so slightly. She wasn't really thinking anymore, just going with the flow as she maintained eye contact with the reaper as they danced.

That surprised look returned, but not because of the knowledge he was the second; though yes, he actually thought it would have been a little more than two! The actual surprise came from the way she worded 'someone I care about'. Saying something like that, while doing something at intimate as slow dancing?
"Oh, but I..." His low voice trailed off as if forgetting what he had to say; her hand had moved further up his arm. But he what? Hmm. Black eyes remained fixed on hers, her light pink eyes that had always been so very expressive. As much as it usually ticked him off, he always liked her eyes, they were honest even when she was trying to lie.
Mac was very aware that she had leaned in closer to him, and he found himself leaning down to meet her, his black eyes slowly lidding. It couldn't hurt, right? The moment was there, it felt like the right thing to do...but he still hesitated with uncertainty; every fiber in him screamed for him to continue, but a nagging voice in the back of his head screamed for caution.
The latter scream was quickly drowned as his lips brushed feather-light against hers. From there he couldn't resist; the hand on her hip drew her closer and he pressed his lips fully against her own, still gentle with awkward care.
Exile Villify continued on in the background, but their dance had slowly stilled.
