Hobbies:
Knitting - Nimue normally has some sort of yarn and several sets of knitting needles in her schoolbag, and knits whenever she has free time. Many of the cardigans and sweaters she wears in the winters have been made by hand. Lately she has begun to branch out into lace-making, but the constant yarn-overs and the hard-to-read pattern charts are proving to be a worthy challenge. She can manage well enough only if she puts her entire focus on her knitting; otherwise she just can’t seem to split her attention adequately and ends up with a snarled, tangled mess.
I put on my robe and wizard hat - Once a week, every Friday night, Nimue can be found in her local coffee shop, crammed into a booth with four or five friends, all of whom are hunched over a table playing a card game -- Magic: the Gathering. For all that she seems to be a bit of a snob and not fun, Nimue is surprisingly decent at the card game, and plays a blue "control" deck with flawless ease. There's just nothing like controlling your own moves -- as well as everyone else's.
Hit the books - Nimue can be found studying so often that some people have actually wondered if she enjoys doing it. But she does enjoy reading, at least, and usually has her nose in some type of book. When she finds the time for it, she reads historical fiction and the occasional trash fantasy book, devouring them in about a day or two. She is, in fact, one of those people, who usually plops down in a bookstore with a cafe au lait and a laptop and will read and study for hours.
Virtues:
Miss Manners - Having been enrolled in etiquette classes when she was much younger, Nimue is perfectly adept at all sorts of social situations, from knowing what fork to use to saying just the right things at a party. She is effortlessly polite, often playing the diplomat amid warring friends or settling minor disputes. Her manners often win her friends and even special treatment or discounts depending on where she goes. It's easy to be nice to nice people!
Intelligent - Nimue consistently scores at the top of her class, and intends on graduating as valedictorian in two years. She's often the first to turn in an assignment and continually asks for critiques on how to make it better. She is also keen on expanding her knowledge: not just anthropology, but classical Greek; not just nature, but the life cycles of amazon toads. This tends to make her seem like a bit of a stick in the mud, because on most weeknights she's sequestered in her dorm, her nose in a book.
Set your clock by it - Five minutes early is on time; on time is late. Being late is unthinkable. Nimue is punctual and dependable - the very definition of a type-A personality. If she says she'll be someplace, she's there. If something untoward happens, you'll get a voicemail, a text, and an estimated time of arrival -- she's not one to cancel plans. Because of this she's often a designated driver.
Competitive - Nimue is quietly competitive, especially about her grades. If there is a chance that someone might surpass her GPA, she will do whatever it takes to try and keep hers higher: extra credit, community service, pulling an all-nighter at the library to make sure she gets all 100 points. Even in something like knitting, if someone makes a particularly nice or luxurious scarf, you can bet that Nimue will attempt to knit up something nicer. Things like subjective competition escape her. If hers is clearly the best, it should win, right? People’s opinions shouldn’t matter when hers is clearly the best attempt.
Flaws:
Sore Loser - Pride goeth before a fall. Nimue is used to winning - her competitive nature and her intelligence normally get her places. But when she loses, the whole world breaks down. She won't do anything drastic, she's too polite for that, but she will start giving one word answers and snap at people (no matter who they are), complain bitterly, drop into a sulk that will last for days, and -- at the worst -- refuse to eat, sleep, or do anything that a normal human being would do. After the whole mess is over she will pretend she was never interested anyway.
Snob - It's not that she doesn't care -- but in the face of her own life, you are ultimately less important than Nimue is. If you have a problem, she'll pay lip service, and maybe she'll even care, if this affects her in some way. If she's dating someone and they have a problem, she'll help them through it like any good girlfriend will, fixing it however she can, only because it will get them to stop sulking.
NEED to know basis- Curious to a fault, if there is something Nimue wants to know, she will find out about it -- no matter what the cost. If it's searching for the root of the latest gossip, trying to figure out some arcane anthropological theory, or even trying to help figure out who robbed the coffee shop, Nimue will often times get in way, way over her head. Unfortunately, needing to know everything about everything means she lacks focus. There’s no one specific area she specializes in – she wants to know everything, and to be good at everything, which means that she ends up being just ‘okay’ at everything she attempts.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Pale teal blue [hex code #51c9b9]; she has double eyelids, and typically wears dark eyeliner to make the pale color of her eyes pop. Otherwise, they tend to look a bit strange against her dark skin.
Hair: Her hair is pale violet [hex code #9f799d] and straight. It falls to just around her shoulders, with several layered pieces in front to hang around her face.
Face: Heart-shaped, with high cheekbones and a delicate jawline. Her nose is straight and her mouth is somewhat thin. Her skin is a cafe au lait color. Ears are normal and normally placed; her lobes are pierced, as is one helix. She tends to wear two different earrings at a time, though both of them will be the same metal (gold and gold, or silver and silver). Her favorite pair is a simple round onyx stud in one ear, and a gold hoop in the other ear, with dangling gold bits.
Clothes: Nimue prefers to wear skirts; the length of these can vary, but she prefers ones to hit her just above the knee. Her favorite shoes to wear with such a skirt are boots of any length. Lately she has been enjoying ankle-length boots of any type, usually with a modest heel; her favorites are those with a cuff or a slouchy top. As for shirts, she likes sleeveless camisoles or short tee shirts with cap sleeves. In colder weather, she tends to wear light sweaters and cardigans over them. She has been known to wear the occasional corset.
All of the colors she wears are deep: blacks, greys, deep jewel tones, or de-saturated colors. She most prefers deep reds, violets, blues and greens. Any jewelry she wears is golden: bangles or a simple, thin necklace around her neck.
