The morning was crisp as Thane left the cave silently. He again was the first to rise, the way it often was. Pink barely lit the horizon, the waters oddly calm. He smiled a tiny bit as he thought about the ocean sleeping now that it's moon had sunk below it, and the sun rising. It seemed fitting. The ocean was a completely different world.
Turning his back on the waves, Thane made his way through the brush, heading the opposite way of the ocean. He was still searching for his perfect battle spot, the perfect place to train. Too bad he doubted it would come with someone to battle. Sighing audibly, he continued as the sun rose behind him, the heat pricking up his back.

 Tannin had been on the road most of the previous day, at night he sought shelter under large trees or caves large enough to hold his size comfortably. Preferably one where he could observe his surroundings and keep watch for any unsavory "guests"
But he had not rested this time, he had traveled a long distance since before the birds were awake, there was a scent on the wind that he could not place, he had never wandered far from the forest that was his home for his foalhood, and this smell never reached past the boughs of home. Something different sparked new interest in his bright green eyes and he clopped farther, his skeletal hooves making a sharp sound on the rocky trail.
He smelled salt, he heard the waves, the cry of gulls...He crested a hill and stared in awe at the vast body of water that seemed to have no end, at the soft sand, the shells and rocks littering the beach. This was amazing!
He stood there a good few minutes, the morning wind tussling his hair as he watched under the safety of his bone mask, the sun rise into the sky, and as he stared around him, he noticed a figure in the distance, not very far off, but far enough to simply be a silhouette against the brightness...

Thane wasn't good at camouflage, and so he had to heavily rely on stealth which he practiced constantly. Anytime he went for a stroll, he focused on his steps being as quiet as possible; and they were as light as a feather by now. The nose he made as brushing against the leaves, and the clinking of his braids smacking together.
He knew the lands around here well enough that he didn't need to pay attention to where he was going, for now. His eyes unfocused slightly, his mind reeling with ideas for training, traveling, weapons... opponents. He sighed out huffly, ignoring the rumpling pangs in his stomach. He would eat after training some, then train more.
Breaking into a clearing he used to play in as a foal, Thane shook out the leaves from his wings. He thought briefly of how even then, he wanted this. A strong mind, solid body, determined... Oh nostalgia.

Green eyes blinked from the shadows of his bony helm, Tannin wasn't anything one could call "stealthy" with all of his armor and the sound bare bone made upon any solid surface, there was simply NO way he could be quiet. Knights were always very forward anyway, he had long ago decided that it was useless to think otherwise in his condition.
But sand was soft enough and he had followed far behind the stranger, thinking to declare his presence and ask the other party about the area or perhaps make a new friend. He hadn't gotten a good look at the other, which he was certain was a stallion like him, for the tracks he left were very heavy and he had found night blue feathers stuck to foliage around.
A wind perhaps? he had never met one, in fact, he really hadn't met a LOT of other kinds in the forest he grew up in, this was a first, afterall, he was trying to become a knight, so knowledge of others was key!
He strode into the clearing he was sure the stallion had taken, looking around before venturing a " Hello?"

Every muscle in his body tensed at the same time his mind told him to wheel around and lunge. He restrained and slowly turned his eyes behind him, and then they widened, shocked. He'd never seen a creature so... well, demonic. It looked simply hellish, in a fearsome sort of way. What kind of thing like that would enter a clearing and simply say "Hello?"
It wasn't wanting to attack immediately, obviously. So he quickly took that second and turned to face the other... 'stallion'. He had trouble linking that word to the creature before him. Glowing green eyes, bone showing on his legs, fangs, and a skull helm... yeah. 'Stallion' still didn't seem right.
"Hello." His deep voice drug through the space between him, his eyes keeping tight and darting at every movement. That was all he could force himself to say until he knew more about the male before him and what he wanted.

Tannin watched the nightblue wind warily, his eyes gleaming behind his skull helm. Of course this other stallion was stunned, MOST creatures who came upon him were usually rooted to the spot or found their legs and fled in terror.
He was quietly impressed with this one didn't do either, he offered a brief smile, though to anyone else it seemed like a flash of fangs, thus was his kindness always misinterpreted. " Hi" he replied back mildly, not wanting to move or do anything to prompt an attack from him. " I'm sorry if i startled you, there wasn't anyone else on the beach and i followed a trail of your footprints and some molted feathers...oh, i know i seem kind of frightening, but i'm not here to attack you or anything, so i urge you to relax ...please?"

Expecting an gurgle of words of hatred and threats in some sort of malicious tone, Thane was brought up short (again) by the polite, and even kind voice. He wanted to tilt his head and go 'what?' but he just stayed silent for a few more heart beats. Very heavy heart beats. For a second he felt bad for his reaction, knowing mother would have scolded him. Well... he thought she would anyway. He channeled her sweet energy from his mind, and slowly, very slowly his muscles unclenched, not completely, but they weren't springs anymore.
"A-alright." he stuttered out, but sighed straightening up his posture. He reaaally didn't want to but still, thinking of Mother, he moved a hoof out, lowered his neck and muzzle towards the ground and bowed politely. He straightened up slowly, not wanting to seem rude or to startle the other male. "Greetings." he said quietly, never blinking.

Tannin was VERY glad to see the tension wear out of the stallions muscles and most of the wariness about his appearance vanish in his eyes. Tannin was used to dealing with reactions like this, he had been ok as a child, though once other foals started noticing the skin on his hooves shrinking back off of the bone, they thought better of playing with him. Being older didn't change much.
He let the other stallion pull himself together, looking instead at the marvelous wings he had, he knew his mother had wings, his father had told him so...but he was flightless and fine with it...but to fly, that would certainly be something!
" Greetings" he smiled, trying to look as nice as possible." i really just wanted to see another stallion around, i haven't met many folks on my travels...my name is Tannin Nox, what's yours?"
