Thane had set out this morning, determined to find a good sight to practice combat (his mother probably wasn't appreciating that he was destroying the greenery that surrounded their home) but he hadn't had any luck. How was he supposed to become good enough to defend anyone with out practice?
That thought sent another pang of desire to have someONE to combat with, rather than a completely still object. The sun was just tilting passed the middle mark in the sky as he stopped a several miles from the ocean. He'd long lost the ability to hear the waves crashing, and didn't want to be stuck out here at dark. He needed to know the terrain better, before traveling home with out his better sight.
He would spend sometime in peace, though. He heard the singing of a brook and meandered his way to the source, and drank deeply, lost in thought of strategies and more ideas for training, lost in the realm of his mind.

Lots had happened lately in her life that had her head spinning of sorts. she needed time once again to think. to just let her mind be at ease and meditate. She'd taken to doing so rather than wandering around having been getting her fill of wandering while looking for her sister. The brook wasn't too far ahead now she could hear it's soothing burbles and churning as it fell over and around the stones in it's way. she'd gotten her first scars in that brook and now her body was riddled with scars of all shapes and sizes where her armor didn't cover. The green leather gave a dull creek as she made her way into the creek bed and moved to the brook to get a drink before closing her eyes and resting beside the water. Deep even breaths was what she had as she let her mind slip into serenity. Her son had brought home a little white mare and told everyone that he'd taken her as his life mate. She was happy for them really she was but she was troubled in a way the small mare was dainty.. skiddish and she feared maybe her family might send the mare running for the hills breaking Rakshi's heart.

He really needed to stop doing that. It was so inconvenient to completely loose the world a lot it seemed. Every time he did, something would happen and he'd be completely unaware. Several feet, maybe 2 hundred, another creature had approached the brook. He could only faintly make out the colors and shape because of the trees. Well what ever it was, it seemed smaller than him. Safe enough to approach, he thought.
His chains jingled quietly, faintly. He wore them as a symbol of his father, the one he looked the most like, and refused to take them off. He'd just have to learn how to walk in silence through them. At 50 more feet, he could tell by the scent it was another soquili. A mare at that. But.. she was laying down? Was she injured?
Picking up to a quick trot, instinctively, Thane rushed to her. "Ma'am?" He called softly, soothingly. "Ma'am, is everything all right?"

One ear cocked to his direction in annoyance as she slowly opened one eye to stare up at the stallion who was intruding in on her peace and meditative state. Standing, she hauled herself to her feet, opening both eyes now to glare at the young fool. "A mare lies on the ground without blood or injury and you come trotting up to her side.. Foolish young colt." She was lecturing him like she would have lectured any of her children. "This could have been a cunning trap and you blindly walked into it." She gave a curt snort and nodded around them with her head to draw her point to the brush that could have easily hidden a few less honorable soquili giving them a large attack advantage. Usually she wasn't so easily riled usually she was patient and happy, friendly but today her fuse was short.. stress could way heavy on even the lightest of heart and happiest of mares.

Thane was immediately abashed. His ears laid down, and he took a step back reanalyzing things. "Uhm.. well, generally.." Yeah, he didn't know what to say. This was the fiercest mare he'd encountered, looking upon the numerous scars he saw shining from her pelt. The image of his mother side-by-side this mare was slightly unnerving, as he feared this female would definitely parade on his mother's gentle nature. But his eyes did dart to the numerous places that she had accurately pointed out. She was right. For some reason, that didn't make him feel much better.
Thane squared his shoulders, trying for his full height before bowing low to the mare. "My apologies, ma'am." His muscles were clenched and ready to spring out of the way if she decided to land a kick on him, which he was half way expecting. He'd some how insulted her through his chivalrousness, and bowing probably wasn't much better. But his mother would be too disappointed in him if he didn't formally offer his apologies for the intrusion. "My name is Thane." He straightened, and smiled faintly. "May I ask yours?"

She watched him like a battle worn warrior and only bowed her head slightly in return, never once taking her eyes off of him. her ears were busily working over the area as all her scenes worked together to keep certain they weren't in any immediate danger. " My name is Merashik.." She offered a small warm welcoming smile as her muscles relaxed a bit one ear perking towards him. At least he seemed to have manners. "You just need to be careful... your chains give you away too much to be too careless."

"It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Merashik." He smiled a little more, him too listening intently now to their surroundings. The brook, the wing, the trees, small creatures in the trees around them, and his favorite sound of them all, the ocean near by.
He nodded, his smile flashing away at her advice. "My chains do.. cause inconvenience some times, but they are my father's." He felt that was explanation enough as to why he refused to remove them.
He cocked his eyebrow and admired her battle marks again. "You appear to be.. a very skilled warrior, ma'am." He smiled faintly again, the possibilities of what he would learn spinning his head around.

At least he had manners... though his attempt to be charming was rather.. dull to say the least. He was young and that wasn't his fault he just hadn't learned that trying too hard could often be worse than going out of their way to offend. "I've had my lessons and still train with my father. No one ever is so skilled that they know all there is so never think that because you have grown wiser that you no longer need to be taught. That being said.. w all will forever be learning will we not?" She wasn't about to offer to mentor this young stallion it wasn't her place. He was not one of hers and thus not her problem should he prove himself them maybe she' take him on as a... squire of sorts.. teach what she could.. but now now she had three a bit older than he who were still learning their lessons her hooves were full so to say.

His mind was sort of reeling at her words, Thane having to fight to keep a neutral expression in place. He did fairly well as he mulled over her last sentence and finally realized it was a question. Smirking (in a non-cocky manner) at her admirable wisdom, he nodded. "Quite so..." he murmured, his mind still replaying moves this mare could teach him... but it seemed overly rude to ask. She would have to offer, first... or least give the idea an outward thought...
His thick, curly tail swayed left and right as he stood to his complete height once more. He was still eye-level with her... how could he had thought her smaller than him? A spur-of-the-moment thought occurred to him, and smiled politely again. "Would you like to see the ocean?"

"The ocean... very massive and wet.. I prefer not to tread into it's waters but instead I shall be happy just to peacefully sooth out the troubles of my mind through meditation.. calm the mind calm the soul." She wasn't looking for pity just stating a fact. She'd been consulting her own thoughts before he'd bumbled in and disturbed them and frankly... if she could she'd return to them.
"Was there anything else you were wanting in this area?" Her ears perked only slightly. She wanted to know as much as she could before allowing herself to relax fully after all one never knew just who her enemies were till it was sometimes nearly too late.

Thane knew "scoot" when he saw it. His mother and father taught them that early. Of course, mother never minded them there unless she was just simply exhausted, and it was respectful to give her that time to think. He'd give this mare the same respect as he did his own mom, as he would any mare. "Of course." He said politely nodding. "And, no.."
He rethought his answer, remembering just WHAT he was doing here. "Well... really, I was looking for some where to practice.. and.. well train." He felt a faint blush creeping up his face, but knew his pelt would easily obscure it. He felt stupid saying this to a well experienced mare, and oddly felt the urge to leave the premises immediately and not to return until she went her own way.

She smiled some. "Practicing is all well.. it makes for well honed skills. but too much practice makes for too feeble a mind learn to have fun too and the work becomes nothing more than play. Muscle memory is key you know so find new ways to make the task at hand less... of a burden." She'd offer him a bit of wisdom to help aid him in his studies if he was going to insist on this path. the best she could do would be to help point him in a helpful direction. She wasn't offering to train him no, but she was offering to share her experiences.

He took on a very enthused, but serious expression. Probably "passionate" was a good word. "Oh I've never found anything a burden that would put me forward in being able to protect those that need it." He felt his spirit explode in his body, lighting his eyes as if he were lighting the world with his sun. Every muscle he had felt like it wanted to quiver, to be stretched, and grown. He felt his body swell with determination, and fierceness. He could never think it a burden to train, to practice, nor to learn.
"What do you mean by muscle memory?" He latched on any help she would offer him. He felt she knew so much of what he needed to know before he would be able to venture out and succeed in his life's goal. "Do you mean... like, knowing my muscles well enough so that I wouldn't have to think for them to react they way it needed, almost automatic?" It was like men talking about hunting. He was engrossed, or wanted to be. He was very nervous of running her off, or unleashing her temper he expected only laid a few inches deep.

"Muscle memory is to have every bit of your training every fiber of your being ingrained into your muscles. you mind will not need to work you simply do as you need to. I'm still too young to have just skills as to be untouchable but know no mater how fast how strong how smart.. there will always be another out there able to trump you in your skills.. all we can do is to prepare ourselves for battles to come. be them wolves, kalona or other evils." It was like she was listening to her father as a foal playing and remembering living as he taught.

He nodded every time she took a moment to breathe. He was right, basically, but she added more that he hadn't imagined. "I see." he murmured when she was finished. He felt his drive boast even more at the challenge of always having someone better. Someone that could take him down.
This mare... she would be on her way soon, he believed. But when he was older. When he was better, he would find her one day. And maybe, very unlikely, if he thinks he could win... he'd challenge her. Glancing at her scars again, he hoped she would be alive to find. "You are very wise." He smiled, his eyes scrunching a little bit. "Not the wisest, of course." He lamely tried to joke, making a point that he soaked in her lesson of "there is always some one better."
