User Image Kaeerah's hunger for flesh had been satisfied -- for the time, at least -- but her lust for power had doubled.

These moods came over her, from time to time. Dark, brooding moods that crept up like storm clouds and formed a haze in her thoughts made up of memory and ambition and hunger. These moods felt an awful lot like insanity, and that bothered her.

Kaeerah wasn't crazy.

Her sister was, maybe. Because Lungaia had long ago denied her true nature and in doing so had caused some terrible rift in her mind. Not Kaeerah. She knew exactly what she wanted.

And right now, what she wanted was a toy. A play-thing. Something to occupy her mind for a short while.

So she hunted. Not for dinner, not for blood....but for amusement. In Kaeerah's world, other wolves were toys, and she was in very bad need of a new doll.

Kriemhild had a strange feeling about today. Something was coming, something dangerous; he felt it in everything around them. It was why he walked a little ways behind Aug'Hbar, eyes fixed on what part of her he could see clearly, but also with both of his brows furrowed in distress. No matter how delighted he was to stare at the curly-haired wolf on all occasions, even one as tense as this, the look he gave to her rear did not seem to read true content.

The morning came just as any other; dark storm clouds rolling in from the west, drops of rain here and there warding off the creatures who stalked beneath tall-standing trees. The air grew stale the farther they ventured from clearer skies, two wolves fading into the angry mist side by side; quite the strong looking pair considering their hunkering shoulders and stiff hackles. The silence between them was left for quite some time, hours it seemed, and was filled only when Kriemhild's throat ached to speak out against their antics.

"We should turn back..." Heavy pants and a lolling tongue was the face that welcomed the females tilted head as it turned to look back over her shoulder. He was such an idiot...But Auggie had a distinctive look fixed in place as well, one of great determination as she motioned for the male to follow with a low snarl. The shaggy haired female was on a mission for something. To find something, to take something; to do something of importance. Kriemhild assumed it was the smell of other wolves that riled her up, and in all his infinite wisdom (of which Auggie did not believe existed) he was right...but if she were being completely honest with herself; Aug'Hbar had no clue why she wanted to keep going. The wolves would never be able to escape her snout, inate tracking abilities one trait that the female boasted proudly...And the storm that sent rods of light across its grey skies were getting worse; refuge seemed like an unlikely find the longer they were to walk...

But something...again, something was up ahead and soon she would find it--whatever it was. Behind her Kriemhild continued to frown, releasing a whine as he came up toward his sister's side and gently brushed against it.

Kaeerah's ears swept forward, brushing against the skull she wore like a helmet low over her brows. Her eyes narrowed, nose twitching at the end of a delicately-sculpted maw.

Intruders, she thought.

No...visitors. Yes, visitors to her corner of the world. What fun!

Quietly, she rise to her paws and proceeded forward, moving quietly and with an odd quality of grace. She was a ghastly sight in the shadows, with her cold pale eyes and the skeleton draped over her form -- but she was beautiful, too, in a dangerous way. Like sirens and harpies and all other manner of she-beasts before her, Kaeerah was alluring as well as deadly.

Overhead the sky darkened and the scent of rain was not far off. She caught a jagged streak of lightning and waited for the thunderclap, but it was too far off yet. Ah well -- give it time, she thought. The storm will break eventually.

Now she paused in the shade of one large tree, watching as the pair -- siblings, perhaps? or well-matched lovers? -- made their steady approach.

Well now...they looked promising.

She hesitated awhile, lurking, watching with empty glacier-colored eyes and waited to see if one would notice her.

And certainly, one of the two wolves did. White ears moved sharply on the top of the males head as he turned and snarled into the thicket, long and wild hairs along his spine rising in a threatened manner. "Auggie..." He hissed, narrowing his gaze in her direction as the female snuffed the ground with her snout, not yet catching the scent of a fellow female in their midst. She almost missed her brother, her dumb little brother, snapping into the shadows with teeth ripping at leaves and causing an all around ruckus...Her name was said several times in desperation, a slow to react Auggie focused almost too intently on her mission at hand...it wasn't until Aug'Hbar turned copmletely in her search that Kriemhild stole her attention away. Shaggy hair swayed with the constant breeze that revealed her yellow gaze to frenzied male, none too pleased by his activity.

"Hush you!" The command came at last, sturdy paws taking her swiftly to the betas side where they lifted off the ground and landed roughly against his snout. In response, Kriemhild winced and whined and drew away from his lovely sister, craning his neck toward her in an effort to find pity in the sudden rage that had erupted upon him. But there was none, not when the brash female was turning her head left and right nervously, sensing something quite suddenly with muscles rippling beneath her thick fur. "Kriemhild..." The female whispered toward her brother, low growls reminiscent of her words said prior, eyes scanning the forest around them as their travels stopped there...

"Kriemhild someone is coming...!" She came across as angered, as if she expected him to have prepared her for such an intrusion! Blaming him for the presence they could not see...And as Kriemhild approached low to the ground, rubbing against the females side once again with continuous whimpers and moans resonating from his throat--he did not say a single word otherwise and only nodded in agreement. She was always right, after all. Yes.

A proud, 'fearless' female rose to her full height and waved her tail like a flag. Ears were back and forth constantly, working like radars while her nose did a similar duty by sniffing and testing the winds that blew. The creature was around them somewhere, but with how feint the scent was--Aug'Hbar could not be sure if what they picked up on was remnants of a wolf's passing or of a current creature within the darkness that nearly enveloped them whole. Kriemhild, working off the boldness his sister now portrayed, lifted off of the ground completely and stood beside her with his own features enlarging his frame. The proximity between them closed completely when the crack of lightning lit the area for but a moment, exposing the darkest of shadows within the forest they wandered.

It was a beautiful thing for Kriemhild, but for Auggie...she snarled and ripped at his cheek with tentative fangs, finding it easier to get rid of her anxiety on the male, than to let it settle within her.

Although they knew someone was about, neither of them could see who, or what it was.

She watched them with impassive curiosity, soaking in the details of their personalities and relationship. She had to decide, after all, in what manner she would present herself to them. So many masks to be worn...and not just the skull on her face, either.

The female was clearly the leader, but she failed to capture Kaeerah's interest. What caught her eye was the male. She was certain he had caught scent of her first...and yet, still he demurred, cowed by his sister (Kaeerah was now certain they were siblings). Was he weak? Or sly?

Intrigued, the blue-flamed female crept free of the shadow, shaking it off of each limb as though rising from a pool of dark water. She walked with a sort of sultry charm, and her glacier-toned eyes flicked over both in a manner simultaneously coy and challenging.

Come play, she thought. Come play...

"Well now. You two make quite a sight," she murmured, a smile touching her maw. Her eyes trailed over the odd spikes of the male's fur, the shaggy hair on the female's head, the strange patches of color splashed across both their pelts.
