ok, i think my roommate is race crazy. she's white, but only dates black or latino men. she also feels the need to remind me of the fact that she only dates these races several times a day. the other night she came in, said that me and our new roommate (who is black) are no longer the minority here and are taking over the room. she's constantly saying how cute biracial children are. [there are so many other examples, but this post is getting long.] it's like the only thing she ever talks about is race and i'm sick of hearing about it...
how would you guys handle a situation like this?

You should tell her there is more to people than race. I guess it's alright to have a prefrence in the type of people you date but it's really on the inside that matters right?
My cousins are like the exact same way.. if you're white you're automatically dumb or just really preppy to them. It's so annoying how they bring race into every subject.

[Hm...I'm not too sure. I seem to recall that I knew someone like that a long time ago. Maybe I ignored her so much she stopped talking to me. xd
Seriously though, I might just sit her down and talk to her (maybe in a joking kind of way so as not to seem so confrontational). I would explain to her how annoying it is to have to be reminded of her racial preference every waking moment of our lives and ask her to refrain from doing so, at least in my presence (in the place we share). 3nodding ] [ ]

[Then again, it all depends on her personality. Maybe she doesn't know she does this and she'll tone it down simply because you point it out. But maybe she'll take offense to being called out on it and start making cohabitation difficult... xp ] []

But maybe she'll take offense to being called out on it and start making cohabitation difficult... xp ] [] i really want to talk to her about it, but i know that it irritates me so much that i'd end up yelling at her. i doubt she'd even understand why i don't want to talk about race all the time. there's so much more to life than just seeing color. especially when you keep saying how you're not at all racist....

[Funny...but it really depends on you yourself. (*expects topic asking if you'd date an ugly person any second*) Looks may be the first thing you notice, obviously, but ultimately, most "some" people aren't going to stay with someone who is ugly on the inside, no matter what they look like externally. wink ] []

[Hmm...yes, this is an issue, but I would try to refrain from getting into a screaming match with her. If she just doesn't get it, then that's her problem, but at least she'll know what's up. 3nodding
I hate biting my tongue and glaring at people when they say things that annoy me and they do it often. But most of the time I can shrug it off because I don't see the person/people often.
For example, I was a maid for a short time. One old white lady repeatedly referred to all black people as "you people" or "your people" when she was talking to me about someone who was black. It made me cringe, but there was no need in me bothering to correct her since I knew she wasn't one of my regulars.
But if this girl is always around you, (which seems likely since you both share a living space), I suggest you try to get a handle on the situation now rather than letting it go on any longer if it really annoys you. 3nodding ] []

Have you tried confronting her about it yet? If not, you should try mentioning it to her when it's just the two of you in the room.

Then let her out pretend to be all calm front like you had a temporary break down and make her feel secure. Then Chloraform that b***h and put her in the trunk of you car. Drive her down to mexico and leave her in the middle of the trashiest city you can find.
IF she makes it back I guarentee she'll never look at another Latino male. 3nodding
