Devan was moving through the forest in a rather odd display. He climb up onto a tree and find a low branch. After a moment of deep breathing the pre-teen would open up his wings. A few times this is where it ended and he'd climb down and start walking. But once or twice he would flap his wings and jump only to land back onto the ground with a thud and a disappointed sigh.
He tried higher and higher until the last time he fell he landed hard on his stomach. His wings splayed out and a the breath knocked out him. When he looked up he was surprised to see some kind of a... structure in front of him. Squinting in the sun the boy stood and tilted his head. It looked like it was made of sticks and things. Nothing like he'd ever seen.
He carefully moved toward what he thought might be the entrance then looked around be for giving a light knock. "Um, hello?"

Now.. Mischa was never one for spying.. Oh who was he kidding, Mischa was a huge bundle of curiousness, loving to experience the world on his own, or was atleast forced to most of the time. Either way, simply putt, the boy saw something interesting and would continue to watch it until noticed.
Luckily today, he could watch the boy who was trying to fly out of a little hole in the roof of his lean to. This place was one of many, little hide outs that he made for when he left home and adventure about. Each one was stocked with the basics, juice and snacks in a tightly sealed container! Plus extra clothes and such (his father couldn't understand why his clothes kept going missing..). With his own wings pressed tightly against his back, he peeked out, wincing at each time the boy landed on the ground. This time, as he watched the boy jump, the sound of a rather harsh thud. He couldn't stand back any longer! Mischa quickly pushed himself off of the ground, to race and see if he was alright. To his surprise, the same boy was right outside of his door, and he barely had enough time to stop before crashing into him.
"O-oh, um.." Mischa's cheeks turned a little red, having been caught in his hideout. No one has ever been in one of them! Well, if they have, he hadn't noticed. "Um... Hello! I'm Mischa.. What's your name..?"
This was the first time in a long long time he had met someone bigger than himself. It was just a bit intimidating, talking to someone larger than him.

Devan winced as he was suddenly crashed into. He hit the ground again and looked up at boy with a sheepish smile. "Sorry if I startled you." He said standing up and brushing off his jacket with great care.
Glad that neither of them where hurt he smiled, "Hello! Oh, I'm Devan. Nice to meet you Mischa." He said struggling slightly with the new name. He flushed when he realized the boy had probably seen him hitting the ground more then once. "I was just... working with my wings. Um, really cool place you have. Did you build that?" He asked pointing to the structure to get away from the topic of his failed attempts to fly.

"I am so sorry for knocking you over..." How mortifying! Mischa's cheeks flushed even darker, and he gave the older boy a quick glance over, making sure he was alright. "It's not a problem.. I didn't think that I would see anyone else out here in the woods!"
His ears twitched a little confused at his 'working with my wings' comment. Did he really not know how to fly? How is that even possible..? He wouldn't question it though... Not just yet.
"Yes!! I did make it by myself! I'm an adventurer, and there are times where I get so tired, I just need to nap and relax! And sometimes home is just too far away, so all over the city I have little places like this! Just little things where I can go when I'm tired!" He grinned and patted the side of it. It was a little weatherworn, but sturdy, with only holes in the cieling that he used to see outside. If it rained, he could quickly fill them in.
"If you can't fly, how about I try to teach you? I don't remember not flying, so It might be harder to teach you.. But.. Um.. I'd be more than happy to help!"

"Oh, its no problem. I usually knock myself over." Devan offered with a warm smile. "To be honest I didn't expect to find anyone either. So I guess we had the same idea!"
The boy looked at the structure again in bewilderment. "Wow! You're very creative! I would have never made something like this. And you have more of them? Very talented."
The boy's eyes lit up like fireworks at the mention of learning how to fly though his face remained mostly the same. "You can fly? Wow! I don't know. I think my wings just got strong enough to hold me but I'm not so very good at it. I keep just hitting the ground."

"Yep! I like having a place to nap where I can be safe and have a snack! Would you like something? I have cookies and juiceboxes!" His childishness suddenly came up, and he was more than eager to share what he had with Devan. "You can come inside if you like! It's plenty big!"
Before he turned around to head back in, he smiled at Devan widely, stretching his wings out wide, showing off how big they were.
"I learned how to fly when I was a toddler... It was a thing of necessity, I think. To survive, a bird has it's wings, to escape! That's what mine were, and still are. I think the whole thing about flying is, having a goal, or a purpose to fly. Flying for the sake of flying can be one just as well, but it can't be like 'oh, i wanna fly because I have wings'. No, it has to be 'I wanna fly because I want to see how the world looks'." His enthusiasm about the very subject showed through not just his words, but his smile, his movements, and the starry gaze he gave the other boy. Mischa would never admit it, but one of his most treasured wishes was to find someone who would go flying with him. So far... None of his friends had wings that worked!

"Wow, that is a neat idea! Oh, sure, I'd love some juice or cookies." He said nodding pleasantly. It would keep his envy side in check at the very least. "I'd love to see it."
He took a good look at the other boy's wings and tried to compare how big his were. He never thought about trying to fly when he was a child. "Oh, I don't want to fly just because I have wings." He was inspired by the boy's enthusiasm. "I want to fly so I feel the wind and see everything. I think it looks fun. The birds can do it and I want to know what its like."

"Sure thing!" He crooned, going inside and opening his cooler, pulling out some sugar cookies and two boxes of apple juice. Once he returned, he plopped down on the ground infront of his hideout, holding out the treats for Devan.
"Good, good! That's the first step to flying, having a purpose! Then the next thing to do is to make your wings strong! Sometimes, wings aren't strong enough to carry you even if are light, or they are really big. They hafta be able to have the strength to keep you from just hitting the ground like a pancake!" Mischa, though his voice was light and airy, was completely serious about the next step.
"What you do next is what I like to call 'jumping' cause that's what it is!" But before he said anything else, he took a happy bite out of his cookie, giggling to himself. That bakery where Edes took him before had the BEST treats!

"Oh thank you so much." He said still distracted by looking the structure over now from the inside. He took a seat down by the other boy.
He took a moment to look back at his wings and run his hand over one of the feathers. "Oh... Well that makes sense. Mine must not be very strong. I've never really used them before today."
He wondered if 'jumping' was what he was just doing. "Was I not doing that?" He asked smiling as the boy giggled. It made him do so too. "These are really great cookies."
