Today was a nice, warm, and bright summer day in Destiny City. Who cared if summer didn't officially start until later in the month - it was certainly bright and hot enough for it !

After getting her permission to get out for the day, Darryl had taken her trusty skateboard and headed toward the skate park, a bit of loose change in her pockets for a drink or two while she was there. Said pants had seen better days, like much of her wardrobe - there were two holes at her knees and overall wear on the front. Her shirt looked a little better, but there was a hole or two at the bottom.

Darryl looked utterly unbothered, even when a group of chatty girl started laughing as she passed them by. He finally got to the skate park and stopped on a bench, sitting on it and letting her old, faded backpack fall onto the ground to fetch her knee and elbowpads out of it.

The skate park was right next to a park that was now full of families and children playing. As well as... a giant spider ?

Oh, dear.

"Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, oh crap..." Maenalus muttered to herself as she tried to chase down a big youma. She'd been picnicking in the park when she heard and then saw the commotion and she took off to henshin up. In that time it had gotten away from her and found its way to a skate park.

Daylight. Plenty of people. Open space for people to see her. Aaanndd the uneven ground of the skate park. She hoped it would stay in the park. Either way, this would be quite the doozy of a fight.

"Augh, why'd it have to be a spider!?" The senshi whined, but knew that this wasn't really a spider, but a youma. But still. A spider?! Though she was the avid camper and trooper, she still hated spiders. And snakes. She saw people nearby and shouted, "Everyone, stay back! I can handle this!" Hopefully.

Her voice had a hint of uncertainty and self-doubt, but Maenalus would be damned if she let any civilian get killed.

People were, thankfully, running and doing their best to flee the scene - thankfully for the lone senshi on patrol. It was always better when civilians got the hell out of the way of a youma. Thankfully, this was the first reflex of most sane, logical human beings.

Not this one, apparently. "Whoa damn..." This ******** thing was huge. Darryl had no fear of spiders - no like either, but definitively no fear - even when they were 20 time the size they should have been.

And then a girl in a skirt entered the scene, apparently to destroy the monster. Sure, there were the rumors - Destiny City was full of rumors - but either she had something slipped in her cereal this morning, or this wasn't a rumor.

...Hell, this looked fun.

"Sorry, darling." She said to her old, beaten up skateboard. "It's for the good of the park. Or something like that."

So, still in her protective gear, Darryl made her way closer to the scene.

Maenalus was nervous around the giant spider-youma. Sure, it wasn't really a spider, and she knew that. But what she didn't know as if it was equipped in the same manner. Venom? Webs? When the youma shrieked and shot black web-like material at the senshi, well, that answered one question. Maenalus successfully dodged and observed the web's effects on the surroundings. Well, it didn't look like acid... That was good. But she wouldn't risk it.

She didn't even stop to dwell on the fact that questioning the acidity of anything was a part of her normal life. Same goes for giant spider things.

She was relieved that most people were fleeing the scene -fewer to see her, right? Because of this, she was rather confused when the youma turned its attention from her and in another direction. What was it looking at? Following its gaze, she saw the girl approaching.

"Please! Stay back!" Quickly she picked up a nearby frisbee and threw it at the youma, trying to get its attention back onto her.

Okay, this thing was even more gross up close, Darryl had to admit. And it shot webs. You know, like a spider would. No surprise here.

"I swear there's -something- in this town's water supply !" She called out to the senshi, unaware that she was talking to one of those 'terrorists'. Really, one on one in this case seemed a little... uneven.

The youma thankfully seemed more focused on Maenalus than Darryl - after all, the senshi radiated energy and danger - the young teen certainly didn't.

It had been about to charge the senshi when something collided with it's side - a skateboard ? Well, now the words of apology seemed much clearer.

"...This is easier in video games..." Needless to say, this wasn't where Darryl had aimed, but it was seemed to do -some- damage - enough to leave an opening for Maenalus to attack.

Something in the water supply? Maenalus hadn't heard that one before. She'd heard of 'terrorists' and the likes, and other outlandish theories you saw in the same magazines that had 'Woman Marries Bigfoot, has 8 kids' on the cover. But once she'd powered up and become a senshi, it occurred to her that she was now one of those 'terrorists'. Whoops.

She hadn't been closely watching the teen, instead she was focused on the youma, but when a skateboard seemed to come out of nowhere, her head snapped back to her. "Be careful! Please!" If she wasn't going to flee like Maenalus wanted her to, then she could at least be careful and watch from a safe distance, right? This was so stressful! The spider-youma began an approach to its new assailant, and Maenalus decided to go on a more direct attack. But first she had to get closer.

"Maenalus Mountain Rumble!"

Motion done and words said, the ground around her began to crack and shake and stalagmites sprung up. Yes, that certainly got a lot of attention back to her, but with the spider's narrow feet, it didn't much hinder its movement. It mostly confused it. In that time, she threw a large stick- aimed right for its eyes.

Maybe she'd made it mad, or maybe it was a reflex, but when the stick made contact, the youma shot webs- in Darryl's direction.

Oh damn.

..Holy s**t.

Holy s**t.

"...That was awesome !" Yeah. Darryl was gawking. "How did you do that ?!" Really, this was her first time being this close to a monster and a 'terrorist' - most sane people would have been scared.

Darryl was getting the thrill of her life.

Well, until she got webbed. and thus glued to the ground. "...That wasn't part of the plan." At least she was doing her best to pull herself free.

Ah, so she had a fan! Maenalus was flattered! Except, the girl got caught up in the web. "Uh, let me help!" She ran over and tried to pull the web off of her, but it just stuck to her hands, and because she was mostly free, she was able to free herself, but not Darryl. "...Crap," she muttered.

"Stay here! Ah, uh... Just wait, I'll dust this thing!" What other choice did Darryl have? The spider youma seemed to have gotten over the magic attack and the effects had faded from the park. She'd only be able to use it one more time before her magic was spent. Better get done with this thing as soon as possible. Ideally, if it died, the web would go with it. She turned from Darryl and threw a big rock at the spider. A couple of eyes began to gush with what looked like the same stuff its web was made out of.

Ewwww.

What choice did she have, indeed. At least the other girl had tried to free her first - if she hadn't, this would have been where the blue-haired girl would have gone straight into pissed off territory.

There were rocks around her, through - she had just enough leeway to catch one and throw it at the youma.

..Which she gracefully missed by a wide margin. "...That wasn't part of the plan e- Oh ******** that is gross."
