The large kirin paced back and forth in front of the temple, obviously agitated. He was normally a vision of beauty, strength and grace, but today, he seemed bothered by something.
The normally calm and posessive stallion wore an angry scowl on his face. Sure he KNEW what their position in life was, but it was too soon. He didnt have the patience for others at the moment, and he would rather not deal with allowing others into their territory.
He mulled the same thought over and over in his head, his tail flicking quickly behind him. Why couldnt it just be the four of them? WHY did she want to have others around too?!

 The pale mare could hear the soft staccato of hooves moving over worn stone, agitated pacing, even within the sanctuary of their sacred home. She knew who, even why, and still she rose from her side to cross the vast inner sanctum to the double arched entry way they stood between them. The elegant length of her tail curled carefully around the body of a pearl, rolling it along behind her with practiced ease.
"Brother, it must be done." Her voice was soft and reasonable as she spoke from where she had paused beside just within the carved arch. Pale shoulder resting against cool stone.
She knew why he was unhappy, but for once she couldn't bend. They need others around them, primarily for protection, but there were many roles that could be filled that would make life easier. Mother had handled it all when she had been present, but she was gone now, and the legacy of their home and heritage was left to the twins. They, nor the little ones, could handle it all.

His ears flicked a bit as he heard his sister approach, as well as her words. She was the only one that he would ever show any semblance of emotion around, or toward for that matter. Although he viewed himself as the pillar of this temple, of their relationship, this was not his decision. That didnt keep him, however, from trying to change it.
He finally stopped his pacing and looked over to her, a scowl on his face which would have easily bared fangs, had he any to begin with. "Cant it just be us? Just a little while longer at least?" he tried to push on her. By now she must have known that 'a little while longer' only meant 'never'.
He was so worked up, his withers were almost shaking they were so tense. He HATED the thought of others around, near them.. near her. Even if it was how it had to be, he hated it.

Elegant features hardened at the scowl he dared turned towards her, and she moved from her place of rest beside the archway to approach him with narrowing eyes. "You know the answer to that question, Dear Brother." Her voice, usual a delicate thing, melodic to the ear, was sharp edged with her growing frustration.
Once near enough she tipped her head beneath his chin, bumping him hard with her nose before moving past so her shoulder could rub the length of his body. Long tail sweeping up curl loose along his throat before sliding away. The pearl had been left in the entry way, but she never quite took her attention from it completely. One soft ear trained behind at all times even is glittering eyes were set forward.
"Why must you pain me a villain in this, Miao?" She'd used his name in place of her usual endearments, and though her voice had softened it had also saddened. "I do this for our home, for us and our future. Surely you can see the wisdom in this decision?" It had not been an easy one to make, she two preferred the limited company of her twin and their two smaller companions, but she would not burden the three of them with all the work, all the baggage, there was to spread around.

He winced as she scolded him with her movements, his ears flicked again before pinning back but he dared not move against them or say a word otherwise.
'Hn....' he offered in response before falling silent. Her touch as she leaned against him, the feel of her tail eased him slightly and he finally broke down, just a bit more, 'I will not tolerate another being close to you...' he snorted as he revealed one of his deeper, true fears. His own tail started to wrap and twine about her legs, his eyes shifted to his own pearl settled among some of the stone steps. Although he seemed less careful with his own, there was to be made no mistake he was equally as guarded and posessive of it.
'The first sign of any disrepect or trouble.. and I mean the FIRST... and I will no hesitate..." his word trailed off, his intent and his meaning clear.

For all his grumbling the stallion was, and forever would be submissive to his twin. She was not sure when it had happened, or why, but she was aware of this gentle hierarchy between them. She would not abuse it though, she loved her dear brother far too much to ever even think of mistreating him. He was her rock, her other half, and she cherished him deeply.
"Forever my dedicated guard," she soothed, chuckling softly. It was not an agreement to his demand, but more a deflection. This was an old argument, and she lacked the energy to pick it up at the moment. The discussion at hand was for another cause, and she would stick to that. "I have every faith in your ability to keep me safe, Miao. There will be no incidents."
She paused at his hip, leaning there as she turned her head to glance back at him through one half lidded eye. A familiar smile curling along pale lips.
