It was quite warm today, the sun sat high in the sky beating down on the land below. The heat had made the afternoons training session seem to be even longer than normal and by the end of it all the wolves were exhausted. Of course it didn't help that there was no shade in the training ring, so that even when standing waiting for instruction one was exposed to the full sun. As soon as they had been dismissed from training many of the wolves sought relief in the shade. Orithia decided to do one better and she made her way to the river that cut through the eastern side of the pack territory. Once there she took a long drink and then waded into the waters. It didn't take long for her to cool down and she could feel her muscles relaxing just a bit. If she hadn't any other thing to do this afternoon she might have stayed in the river a while longer, but there was work to do and so somewhat reluctantly Orithia came out of the river.
Next she headed south, ready to start her border patrol. Heading this way got her mind to thinking about their ally pack and more so of a certain male from within. She had made several trips down south to visit the pack but it seemed she always ended up spending her time there with Apollo. Their conversations always stuck in her mind and while they may come from two different world they could each appreciate the others lifestyle and never let that get in the way of friendly chatter. Apollo also was quite intellectual, something that was lacking in some other wolves she had met, including some wolves of her very own pack. Just because here they lived to fight and lead the lives of warriors didn't mean there could be no conversations about other subjects, subjects that challenged the mind, and on occasion brought controversy up. That why why she liked Apollo, he wasn't afraid to speak his mind, even in front of her, it was...refreshing.

Apollo wasn't sure what had possessed him to head this way - oh he knew that his bother had run off in this direction and father literally had smoke pouring out of his ears now that he had found out - it had seemed like a bad time to chat with him about his ever growing desire for a certain northern wolf.
Of course he wasn't entirely certain that Orithia felt the same way and really telling his father that he liked someone was kind of pointless when he wasn't sure if she liked him back - so he'd decided to clear his head a bit and had somehow ended up here quite close to the Antianeira boarders, which considering he was a male might not be the best choice...but surely if one of the sisters approached him and he told her who he was - the grandson of the southern alpha they wouldn't be hard on him... besides he wasn't actually on their lands...yet.

Her thoughts were getting the best of her and needless to say she wasn't paying as much attention to her patrol as she normally would. That was alright though right? The was the southern border and the chance of seeing a wolf here other than perhaps Terreis and her adopted daughter this close to the border was pretty darn slim. No sooner did that thought cross her mind did she spot a wolf moving towards the border from the south. Guess she was wrong about that. Giving her head a shake to clear her thoughts she padded forward quickly to intercept this intruder before they got far.
Of course the closer she got the more she realized that pattern looked all too familiar. And when she saw it was indeed Apollo her steps faltered a bit. Clearly she was dreaming, it had to be, why else would he come up here. But now even after she closed her eyes for a moment and opened them again he was still there. Definitely not a dream. Padding towards him Orithia couldn't stop her tail from wagging nor could she prevent a smile from crossing her maw. "Apollo." She called out in an all too happy tone. She brought her paws to a stop that she was close. Wow, she couldn't believe it, he had come up here...wait...oh my god, he had come up here. A bit of panic suddenly gripped her. "What are you doing here? You know it's not safe." But even as she said those words Orithia couldn't help but be happy that he was here.

Apollo was more then a little bit happy to see Orithia - and if he could judge by the way her tail was wagging and the tone of her voice then he thought he was justified in saying that she was happy to see him too. Of course then her voice turned to slight panic as she questioned why he was he was here. "I though I'd come to see you" He told her rather grandly attempting to brush off the 'it's not safe' comments - like Apollo couldn't handle himself - sure they didn't spend every day training like the sisters did but they learned how to handle themselves.
"And I thought I'd check on Coorinth maybe..dads in a lather about the whole thing, I thought I could calm him down if I told him he was being treated nicely" he continued on in an attempt to make it seem like he had had more of an agenda then simply coming to see her - which he thought made him look slightly desperate, even if Corinth had just been a handy excuse "I figured if any of the sisters other then you came upon me I'd just tell them who I was and they'd likely drag me to your mother - but she knows me and I doubt she'd have hurt me"

He came to see her? For the second time in the last few moment Orithia thought she must be dreaming. But no, he was definitely here, standing before her and talking to her. Clearly he was not some figment of her imagination. Then he mentioned coming to check on Corinth, so he wasn't just coming to visit her. He had every right to worry about his brother, Corinth was a shy beast but he seemed to be adjusting to his new life quite quickly. "I'll admit you were the last wolf I ever expected to come across on this patrol."
She glanced towards the direction of her pack lands and then back to Apollo. "Corinth is doing well, he's is learning quickly from your Uncle the duties he will need to do." Orithia let out a half laugh at his next comment. "Perhaps that might have worked, unless Varia came across you. But I'm glad it was me that found you instead." Gods she would have been upset had Varia found and dealt with him, not only because she liked Apollo but because that would have seriously damaged their alliance with YMCA. Yup, it was a good thing she had taken the southern patrol route today.

"I'm just surprising like that" He told Orithia with a smile when she stated she hadn't expected to see him at her pack boundary. "But I'm glad to hear that Corinth is doing well" Not that he had thought his brother wouldn't - he'd been a mopey, surly, somewhat chubby beast back home but Apollo had always chalked that up to simply not fitting in. If Corinth thought he would fit in better down here then so be it - perhaps he'd even work off some of his weight.
"Is she really as bad as they all say she is?" He asked Orithia after a few moments thought - Varia was his aunt technically though he had never met her and while Apollo was quite used to irritable somewhat angry females - just look at his mother - it was hard to consider someone just as mean as Varia was said to be.

Orithia couldn't help but laugh a bit at that. He was indeed surprising. "I can take you to see him once I'm done with my patrol." A patrol that at the moment wasn't happening because she was standing here talking to Apollo. They could walk and talk couldn't they? Of course they could. And so Orithia motioned with her muzzle for him to follow her and began to follow along the southern border of her land once again. Out here they hopefully wouldn't encounter too many other Sisters, most would either be patrolling the other borders, out on a hunt or resting in the dens between training sessions.
The question of Varia was not an easy one to answer and Orithia thought on her answer for a few moments before speaking. "I suppose she is. Though growing up with her around it doesn't seem so bad, you kind of get used to her after a while. She is very set in her ways but is a valuable member of the pack." Not to mention one of only a handful of old blood as well, and that alone made her a valuable member even if she wasn't the Head Warrior. They walked for a bit before Orithia spoke again. "I was hoping to see you again since our last talk, but training and duties have kept me quite busy." She sadly couldn't keep sneaking away to see him like she had up til now, even if she hadn't done so all that often.

"That would be nice" Apollo told her with a smile "As long as you an keep me from being accosted by one of your sisters anyways" He added on ad while he knew it was likely a serious matter he put a joking tone in his voice to keep things light - he hadn't come all the way down here to visit her only to pick at her pack and its ways.Falling into step with her they walked along the boarder.
Her answer about Varia was pretty much what Apollo had expected to hear and while he couldn't fathom getting used to someone like that simple because you were around them a lot...he also knew that it was likely because he couldn't relate to that, there were no wolves like that in YMCA for him to have grown up being used too. His mother perhaps would be the closest and he'd never thought her cruel so much as simply absent. Still he didn't see the point in pursuing that conversation point. "It had been a while since we saw each other" He admitted with a sheepish tone "I was beginning to think I hadn't made nearly the grand impression I thought I had" He teased her.

She couldn't help but smile a bit. "I doubt any of the Sisters would dare do anything to you while I stand here." No Sister would dare challenge her, at least that is what she hoped, especially after the shameful fight that happened a few months ago with Enyo. She had proven herself then even if it had been a fluke, she doubt any Sister would ever challenge her rule again. There was no sign of any of Sisters out here, but that did not mean there wasn't any, the Sister moved quietly and unseen when they wished.
"It has." Too long really, she enjoyed visiting Apollo and speaking with him about things most did not speak about with her. Orithia huffed a bit. "Oh you made an impression alright." She paused for a moment letting him take a guess at whether that impression was good or bad. She knew the truth as likely so did Apollo, but they were playing a game, and neither seemed to be taking the extra step forward that needed to get past them where they needed to go...where she wanted them to go. "I wish to be able to see you more often Apollo." A lot more often if she were being entirely truthful, she should be entirely truthful but she could not bring herself to say such at this moment. She needed to hear what Apollo had to say first.

"So your my body guard huh?" He teased her, bumping against her slightly as they padded along "I suppose I couldn't ask for a prettier one" Which was about as close a Apollo had come to telling her how he felt about her. I was getting harder to keep that to himself - Apollo had always been one to tell the truth of things straight up as he saw them///but as he'd grown he had also learned that sometimes it was a bit better to be circumspect about how one went about telling the truth - blurting it out didn't always go over so well.
"Well you know where I live...and I know where you live" He ventured - though trips up here would be dangerous he was willing to make them if he had to so that they might see one another more regularly.

"If that's how you want to look at it, yes I would be your body guard." She bumped him back and smiled. "You need all the protection you can get up here." She joked even if the statement was in fact truth. Orithia did not reply to his comment about her being pretty, the smile growing on her maw spoke for her.
Her paws came to a sudden stop and she looked at Apollo giving her head a bit of a shake. "No, that's not what I meant at all. I cannot afford the luxury of visiting you, my duties grow with each day and soon trips like those will be but a memory. And it is too dangerous for you to come up here to visit, I will not always be the one to meet you at the border." If anything happened to Apollo because he tried to visit her and the Sisters stopped him with force, well she may likely never forgive herself. "What I speak of is a more...permanent solution." Orithia chewed her lip, unsure how he would take the news. "I mean..." She took a step forward and pressed her muzzle against his. If her words failed her then perhaps her actions could speak for her.

Apollo paused as their light conversation suddenly took on a more serious tone, one he wasn't sure exactly how to respond too - he sighed slightly and pushed back against Orithia's muzzle - it would be nice to see each other more often but...
"And somehow I don't think your telling me you want to leave and return with me to YMCA" He remarked after a few moments of silence "I..don't know if I can be the type of...male..that your pack would accept" He finally offered and that was truthful, he might try for Orithia..but Apollo wasn't sure just how well it would work out if he was forced into the role that his uncle Ioef seemed happy with - he might not be as strong willed as his father..but he wasn't as much of a push over as his brother Corinth either.

"You and I both know that would be...impossible." She couldn't abandon her pack like that just because she had feelings for Apollo. By birth right she was princess and one could not simply walk away from that for a while and then decide to come back when the title was ready to be passed on again. No, the most she could do was visit YMCA, and that wasn't enough for her. Letting out a sigh Orithia was really stuck between a rock and a hard place.
"I know you are not that type of male...but for that matter neither is my father. He is good at pretending when necessary but even my mother could see nothing would ever change who he was." Could she not offer something similar to the arrangement between her mother and father? Of course she could. She was the princess and her word was law, though they would still need to speak to her mother about it, just so that the Queen was aware of these arrangements. "My father is granted freedom to come and go as he pleases, so that he may attend to his job. I could grant you the same thing. You would be free to visit your family and old pack whenever you wished." They could not keep sneaking off to see each other and part of her did crave what her parents had, and she wanted that with Apollo, even if that was a dangerous thing in this pack."It is...the only way we can truly be together." A consort always joined the pack.

This was not a decision he ought to make on the fly - his father would be livid..absolutely livid..but even he might understand if Apollo tried to tell him it was for love...tried to explain that nothing would really change except that he would be free to visit Orithia in safety. It was true..the packs were close enough that he could still return to help out his family and yet be here for Orithia as well.
And even though he'd just told himself that he ought to take some time to think over this decision Apollo already knew the one he was going to make...no matter that his father might chew his ear off or that his brothers might think him insane...like Orithia said, it was the only course of action that would work and heaving a sigh he nodded at her slowly not quite sure just how to say what he wanted to say without sounding sad or frightened - because it was frightening to leave ones home and it was sad at the same time..but he didn't want Orithia to think he would regret it in the end. After a few moments he thought perhaps he'd gotten a grip on himself and managed to give her a light smile "Well..if that's the only way of it, then I guess thats just the way it shall be"

She waited patiently for his answer. It was a huge decision, for both of them really, but more so for Apollo. He would be leaving everything that was normal to him and was being thrown into a whole new world. She would do her best to ensure the transition went smoothly, and of course she had already granted his freedom to visit his family whenever he so chose. His smile told her of his answer and his words next confirmed it. Smiling herself Orithia wagged her tail lightly. Her mother would likely give her a nice little speech later about the dangers of being in love in a pack such as this, but her mother had been taken by love as well. As long as they were careful and maintained their ranks and relationship correctly in the presence of others then no ill should come from this.
"I will show you to your new den." It would be best to get such things out of the way now. Certainly he would want to return south soon, to let his parents know what was going on, but for now she would get him acquainted with his new home. Giving his muzzle a light bump she turned and headed into the pack lands. "This way."
