West was greatly looking forward to this evening. Despite the fact that he managed to get five or six hours of sleep fairly regularly, his rest was often interrupted by staring Marrowstripes or drastically shortened due to the combination of upcoming assignments and his own tendency to procrastinate.

As a Halloween citizen, he understood that he didn't strictly need sleep, but, much like food, it helped him feel more like himself, especially now after the month he'd had. From tentacle attacks in minipet class and the open house to paintball, punching matches, and being chewed on by a stanky swamp shark, the demon had taken his share of knocks lately. It wasn't that they weren't welcome, seeing as how he usually enjoyed a good roughing up on his own terms (no tentacles, thanks), but sometimes a boil needed a recharge.

He emerged from his bathroom in the customary t-shirt and shorts he slept in, his hair combed and lying flat against his head instead of sticking up at awkward angles like it usually did. No assignments due, no Savior, no hellhunters, hippos or scareons in sight, just his bed and nine uninterrupted hours to himself. West smiled in the dark, brushed a bit of the ever present sand off of his mattress, and slid between the sheets, cuddling up to his partially horn-shredded pillow with a sigh.

Monster dorms was just like home now. With her room finally set up in a tidy manner, Levi walked barefooted across her unfinished wooden planked floor with a steel watering can in hand. Her attire was black leggings and a black sleeveless hoodie top. Passing by all her sporadic vinery, she watered the roots of her candy corn plants while humming merrily to them. You like a bit of attention, don't you? Once her routine agricultural chores were done, it was time to fill up the bucket. The bucket she'd kept by her door was old and rusted but handy for carrying large quantities of her harvest when moving them over to her personal barrel.

Swinging the bucket back and forth in tune with her humming, she couldn't help but dance a bit. Catchy tunes had a habit of causing her to dance; a fault she'd kept secret well by any and all means. She began to fill the bucket up with water via the bathtub faucet.

Westus leaned out of the window of the train and was rewarded with a faceful of stale air that pushed his tousled hair out of his face and forced his eyes open wide. This fleeting moment of excitement was cut short by the appearance of a burly hand that reached outside and pulled him back in by his collar. Almost immediately, a far more delicate pair of hands began pressing his unruly mane down close to his scalp.

"Save your energy for Uncle Telefsen's, dear," the demon said, finishing her impromptu salon session and sitting back in her seat. Zira Warrick had roughly the same coloring as her son, but while it looked positively delightful on her, it made the boil look a little bit funny, in both the 'haha' and 'strange' definitions of the word. He didn't reply, instead standing up again and sliding their compartment's door open until it slammed against the frame. His mother clucked disparagingly and shook her head, but there was a smile on her face.

West murmured in his sleep as Master pushed open the window of his ground floor room, stomping her way across his bed to begin kneading at his feet.

The brim of the bucket had just about been hit. Using both hands, she carried it over to the kitchen and left it to plunker down on the floor. Popcorn, ye git outta tha vines thar! Scoot! The chubby black dragon mini flapped excessively trying to get away after being caught trying to nibble away at a candy corn kernel fresh off the vine. He found his pudgy midsection once again stuck. With a sigh, Levi strolled over to the creature and knelt down to pick him out. Ya know better than ta do that at home. C'mon now. He was still having a bit of trouble understanding his surroundings, she figured. Carrying the critter back over to his urn and placing him inside, she reached over to a nearby barrel of candy corn, popping the cork. Reaching in she grabbed a few kernels and layed them within the urn along side the blackened dragon who was now looking pleased as punch to have some new refreshments.

The ghoul had left her hair out of its usual pigtails during these late hours. Readjusting the back of her black hood from her stooping down, she brushed the hair to one side and out of her eyes. The other critters living in her room seemed to be fine right now, so she wasn't concerned about them.

Back to the bucket; opening her mini fridge she collected something with the sound of a crinkle in a clear bag. Emptying out the contents into the bucket, she hummed lightly if not only to keep from waking her little critters resting in peace with the clunking of things into the metal bucket.

"WAFFLES! Getcher fresh waffles here!"

West was forced back against the wall as a wide, rickety cart came bouncing down the narrow hall. The undead pushing it looked kind of familiar, but the demon boil couldn't place him.

"Wanna waffle, sonny?"

West shook his head.

"TAKE A WAFFLE!" A warm, crusty square of deliciousness was thrust into the little demon's hands. The skeleton man tried to continue on his way, but West reached out and grabbed at his tattered jacket.

"How dare ye!" the man said. "Ye know who ye be grabbin'?"

West shook his head again.

"Well, laddie, I'm Ron, cousin to Jack Skellington. They call me The Lord Of Fightin'. What's yer name, junior?"

There was a loud crash and Ron looked up, his minimal features sagging in a frown.

"No time fer that! Run!"

Alrighty- It was time to leave. The contents of the bucket had nearly all liquified by now and she pulled her black hood over her head. Momentarily, the tatzel scampered into her bathroom to check the mirror. Still too light...

Being pale and white-furred had its disadvantages when trying tricky tatzel activities. She had to find ways to cloak herself; like wear black clothing and ...ah-! That scarf would do. Peering back out the bathroom door, there was a black linen scarf hanging off a chair in the kitchen. Taking it up, she wrapped it over her face but left her eyes uncovered - ghoul had to see what was coming. Rather than shoes, she wrapped her feet and arms in black ribboning. Satisfied with her black/white ratio, she retrieved the full bucket and silently left monster dorm...

It was brisk outside and the fog made it that much easier for her make her way to the other end of campus. She knew where she was going; a few days back she'd made a point to stalk her prey. Noting the lights which dimmed on as the student would enter, Levi was delighted to find out that the room she was looking for was on the main floor. Made things that much simpler.

She returned to her previous stake-out spot in a nearby tree up atop the hill that was demon door's perch. She still had to shake off her shock at just how different this dorm was to her own beloved monster dorm. Truly, demons were rich folk. The best thing about her timing? Apparently, the demon left their window open. A grin perked as she steadied the liquid in her bucket; go time. Dropping to solid ground, she made her way as quickly and as low as possible over to the building, leaning up against the wall in a crouch by the window ledge. Peering in, she saw a plain room... there were some interesting features, but she only surveyed for a moment before looking towards her main objective. There

Curled in his bed with a critter at his feet, the wrath demon looked to be out cold. She wouldn't take her chances at believing that just yet though...

Using her tail to prop herself on top of the ledge, she first dropped the bucket inside the room as quietly as she could, manually settling the handle down so it didn't make a sound. One leg at a time she entered the room and stood still for a brief moment to see if something was alarmed. Hey- you need to be cautious about these things. But there was nothing.

Time to test how deep this boil sleeps.

Picking up her bucket again, Levi crept up to the side of West's bed, looming over him. If she were in her natural form, this would be considered her ready-to-attack pose. A good tatzel would loom over their prey on their tails and attack from an above standpoint. But she wasn't in her natural form...she stood on her two legs plainly in this form. Lifting her tail just above his face, she tickled the end of it at his cheek. This was done very quickly, just to see what reaction he'd have. With the long curving form of her tail, she then laid the thick white tendril gently over his much abused midsection before quickly taking it back off. His reactions told her he must have been dreaming. Purrfect.

Taking a few steps back into the shadows...

...she put a hand to the bottom of the bucket of partially liquified ice water...

... and threw the entire fill of the bucket right on West.

Narrow slits of golden eyes glimmered happily in the darkness and one thick tendril coiled behind them.

A second crash followed the first, but this one shook the train around them, throwing Ron's cart toward West and pinning the boil to the wall. The Lord of Fighting glared at the door at the end of the hall.

"YOU SHALL NOT PAAAAAAASS!" the skeleton screamed, sparing a glance at the helpless young demon. "Stay here." West couldn't really do much else.

Ron inched forward, a mysterious spatula suddenly clutched in his bony fist. He reached the door, turning one last time and grinning broadly as the door behind him smashed to splinters. A slimy, undulating tentacle burst through the ruined wood, whipping Ron off of his feet and reaching for West. The demon boil let out a surprised shriek as the thing wrapped around his torso and tugged, yanking him through the door and toward...

What was a large body of water doing on a train?

West shifted as if he could sense someone standing over him, the movement causing the scareon sleeping at his feet to raise her head and yawn. The gaze Master leveled at the tatzel was sleepy at first, but it quickly shifted to one of concern, not for her demon but for herself. She was rather... fiery after all and it wouldn't do to suddenly be doused with any sort of substance that came in a bucket. With a lazy mew, Master jumped off of the bed, leaving West to deal with the situation by himself.

The wrath demon made a sound of his own when Levi's tail brushed his chest, but it was definitely more concerned than lazy. Tentacles!

West grabbed at train seats, loose luggage, anything that he thought might slow his advancement toward the disturbingly large amount of water ahead. Even when it became obvious he wasn't going to be able to stop the inevitable, he scrabbled at the tentacle wrapped around him, muttering curses under his breath.

Mere inches from the water's edge the tentacle slowed for a moment and West held his breath, preparing for the worst.

He awoke with a muffled shout, his eyes wide and staring. Already accustomed to the room's darkness, it didn't take him long to find the source of his rude awakening. West's night vision would never win him any prizes, but he would recognize that tail anywhere.

"W-WHO LEDDUINN'ERE!" he shouted, peeling the wet sheet off of his legs and lunging after the ghoul.

Must’ve been some dream!

She cackled and teared up, holding her stomach with both arms in absolute enthrallment when the bird wrath demon came to. His expression and yell were priceless and Levi’s sneak attack seemed to have gone off as planned. Excellent.

Since the moment at the open house desu booth when the demon had called her a cheat, Levi had been working out how to prank West to teach him a lesson. When you were a ghoul like Levi who based skill on how hard you tried to accomplish something, calling her a cheat was like saying she lacked any skill whatsoever. It was as if she just coasted her way through fights back home to become the fighter she was today. That was a dirty lie. Her trials were tedious from the very beginning as the young tatzel ghoul started getting riled up in fights against the boils who took her for a weakling automatically. She’d lost back then many times- but whenever she did, she got right back up and always tried that extra bit harder next time around. There was always a next time around; she made sure that there would be a time when she could hone her own fighting abilities to take out those boils and wipe the smirks off their faces. Her pride in being a rough ghoul was really a large part of who she was now.

Oh, this was just the start of her plotting; until the boil took back his words, she’d continue to plague him till he was ready to say uncle- or that she wasn’t a cheat. In recognizing her, Levi blinked for a moment wondering how she’d been found out.

The jig was up.

Wakey wakey, eggs n’ cakie! was all she could think of, chuckling at him. That was until he got up and came after her- she wasn’t expecting him to be quite so swift out of bed given he’d just been sleeping. However- that was ice water. As a quick decision, Levi bounded up and over West’s head, trying to watch carefully for those horns. She'd nearly gotten by scott free save for a bit of torn fabric from the back of her shirt as she landed behind him rather than on his head. phew! She felt there might be a scrape there later on, but nothing to be concerned about.

The tatzel didn’t think of what she’d do once the mission was complete besides sneak out anonymously after he’d seen a random stranger break his good night’s rest. At least- he wouldn't find out till later when he'd be fully awake and she could hassle him about knowing what happened. Now that she’d been discovered, it might have turned into a rather rough escape.

Behind the boil, she looked up to the ceiling at the light fixture and pounced up to cling to it with her hands and calves, hanging upside-down. Her tail dropped and swayed, watching for what West might try. He might have been sleeping, but he obviously was still a force to reckon with right out of bed. Respect- the boil was always ready for a fight. Levi didn't doubted his abilities, but he had this coming. Had‘a good nap? Thinkin’ I might do this more oft'n if ya’ll git this active after 'a gud showerin’. In truth, she wasn’t sure of what to predict with West at the moment. When she’d performed this prank back home, she knew exceedingly well the layout of the space as well as her prey beforehand. Her best bet was to escape… without any mishaps from a raging wrath demon.

There was no denying it now. It was her. West had been fairly certain -- tail -- but once the tatzel spoke, well, that was it. The rage that had so easily launched him out of bed and to his feet continued to grow, but instead of propelling him further forward, he froze in place, clenching his fists so violently that his stubby nails almost broke through the skin of his palms.

He glared at Levi as she launched herself over his head, but his envy over that particular ability was short lived. Wrong sin and all that.

When she spoke again, he only glowered in response. This wasn't just fun and games for him, oh no. West didn't often relish rest and alone time, but when he did it was seriously serious business. Seriously.

"Showerin'?" he grated slowly, bringing his fists up in preparation to Kick Some a**. "I'll show you active."

Behind Levi, Master sat by the door of West's dorm room that led out into the hall. She stood and poofed out her fur irritably, mewing a quiet, disgruntled mew at the pair. It was the middle of the night, you guys, seriously. Seriously. The scareon's fur glowed like banked embers as she began to groom herself.

Levi meowhissed at the wrath demon below.

She knew he had potential to rip her up pretty good given the chance. Levi was a fighter, but not one to throw whatever common sense she did have out the window when West obviously had the upper hand on his turf. Need to get out... Given her current position, she'd have to slip by West slightly to get back out the window. No dice.

It was an option to stay here and fight if she had to, but Levi had been caught off-guard now just like the first time she'd fought him (she certainly didn't think he'd send her sailing through midair). For best results, Levi's better sense told her to just get out. There would be other times. Now was just not one of them. The ceiling here limited her movements she realized from her current dangling position.

The illuminated scareon then became her beacon of hope. While the flowing embers burned brightly by the door exiting his room, Levi's wheels turned and clicked into position then- out the door she'd go. Out into the halls where there should be adequate space for her to move about. Turning to catch West's livid expression, she grinned a toothy smile like everything was going to work out just peachy now. Putting a flattened hand to her forehead, she saluted him playfully in a "see ya!" fashion. Sure love ta' stick round n' play, but think ma kettle back at tha' dorm is callin' fer me!

Timing...timing... she'd leap down on the count of three. Okay. One...two...three!

Falling back to solid ground, the black and white intruder raced for the door and pulled it open, allowing it to whip back while she bounded through it into the first level hallway of the demon dorms. Running and running, she cackled a hillbilly cackle while glancing back once she thought she'd gotten far enough from the wrath demon's doorway.

Despite her current distance from the window, West had fully expected Levi to launch herself back that way. Well, that or stand and fight, but West was as ready for a fight as he had ever been. There was absolutely no doubt in his mind that this time he was going to win. Until she turned and ran. Well, s**t.

West almost shouted, "CHEATER" in a kneejerk response to her gleeful cackle, but reluctantly stopped himself, charging after her in relative silence. What bothered him the most wasn't that she had broken into his room, nor that she had thrown water on him. It was the fact that she had left through the front door.

He had to admit he probably wouldn't have thought of that.

It was clear to him now that there was something beyond physical prowess being displayed on Levi's end when they fought, something it was unfair to call cheating. Where West had always gotten by on strength and stamina, it was becoming more obvious that agility and strategy were tools he would have to master in order to kick this b***h's a**.

His only hope now was that she would have no idea where in the hell she was going and would run into a dead end somewhere.

Yep, he was following behind her. hmm…

It would be a lie to say Levi knew what she was doing or where she was going at this point. Despite being on the main level, her trials in finding a doorway leading out proved to be difficult. When the hallways failed to take her to where she wanted to go, the tatzel did the one thing you should never do when trying to flee a scene- she went up the stairs.

Flickering her tail behind her, the black shrouded ghoul raced up the steps. Ugh. Still wasn’t loosing him fast enough. Looking up the staircase, Levi decided to head up yet another level and saw a rather expensive looking vase atop a polished and well-ornamented side table within the entry to the third level corridor. This ought to slow him up a bit. She wasn’t too concerned about West catching up to her, but she was thinking about what could happen if she didn’t find a way out. Not only would she be fighting the demon then but it was also a possibility that she’d get found out and punished by one of the faculty.

Overall- a way out would work best.

She swiped at the vase behind her with her tail as she passed it towards the wrath demon following. If the thing shattered, they’d have to suspect the boil did it, right? Right. She wasn’t there and no one could prove otherwise. While the vase went flying towards West, Levi turned her head to smile at him while mouthing out “CATCH!” before chuckling and bounding through the third level hallway.

Accustomed to following authoritatively given orders without a lot of thought, West did just that, diving for the vase Levi had tail-chucked at him and catching it... for a moment at least. He tightened his fingers around the expensive porcelain, smirking in the face of his awesomeness as he dropped through the air, seemingly in slow motion. Had he remained like that, floating toward the ground forever and never reaching it, expensive glassware clutched in his hands, it would have been an impressive save, but unfortunately gravity had other ideas.

His body hit the landing between flights of stairs and the vase slipped out of his still damp grasp, crashing to the floor and creating a surprise spiky cushion for his forearms.

A shout and several muttered curses later he had risen back to his feet and was giving chase once again. The tatzel had quite a lead on him now, but West could still see her up ahead and he was blindly determined to follow until he could no longer do so.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 28, 2011 2:10 pm

When she'd figured there was just enough distance, Levi looked back to check on West's state. Apparently, she didn't need to look back- the foul things that came out of that boil's mouth... tisk tisk... she shook her head but only for a moment. He was back up and looking for a rumble again - dangit. She continued to run. Left and right, he was still keeping after her. The boil still had her in his sights, but they were a good distance apart which still kept her at an advantage. She rounded another corner and felt like her plan had hit a brick wall.

A dead end.

No more staircase or corners. Just the length of the hallway decorated by the same tiny side tables as earlier. At the very end was a window, fine leather chair and a small one-drawer desk with blackened roses in another classy vase overtop.

Jackin' candy corn in a bucket of rats.

Frantic for a second, she bounded over to one of the side tables and dragged it as quickly as she could in the middle of the hallway just after the corner. Maybe that would buy her enough time. Maybe not; Levi sprinted to the window at the end of the hall. She then moved the chair and table (watch the vase, watch the vase...) a few feet before her at the window as an added barricade, scrunching up the exquisite rug that draped across the floor. Alright

Her eyes darted from corner to corner of the window and was amazingly able to figure out the latch...

just in time...

to fall through it.

The ghoul just got startled. Darn window contraptions! Spinning around, the last thing Levi saw was West...

...and then she fell through the demon dorm third floor hallway window back-first, wide eyes still looking upward.

West kept running without a care for noise or the disturbance of his fellow demons. The ghoul rounded a corner ahead and so would he, until, well, he couldn't. The boil skidded to a stop. There was a table in the way.

"Graaaghghgh!" he growled. There was a table. In the way. He pushed the stupid thing, sending it clattering to the floor, then resumed his sprint, raising his head and looking Levi in the eyes as...

Holy s**t. She was gone. Was she going to die?

He rushed forward, fingers curling around the window frame as he leaned out, eyes as wide as the tatzel's as he watched her fall.
