SOUTH DISTRICT, MEGALOPOLIS - Today, as many of you may know, is the anniversary of the famous William Carter coming out speech. For those of you that don't know what I am talking about, 1. I'm not saying the former Mayor with a wife of 13 years was secretly hiding a lust for the inequitable sex and 2. You should definitely pick up a history book some time. I am indeed talking about his famous "Empathy for Mutants" speech, in which he came out about having powers, as well as preaching about how a number of his colleagues were killed in hate crimes against the more than able race.

Twenty years ago today, our mayor stood up for an oppressed race so belittled by society that he, a leader of thousands, was afraid to come out about his secret abilities. No wonder children all over the city have to take a moment of silence out of their busy school day. Now, as you continue on with your day, I want for you to remember this and think about where the aggressive driver in front of you was raised, or if the lady at the coffee shop who got your order wrong was beaten as a child, because you honestly have no idea the situation they come from. Every time you feel like cussing out the pedestrian that jumps on the crosswalk at the last minute, I want you to remember this article and take on a new outlook on life, an outlook that resembles the empathy our former leader had for all men, women, children, mutants, aliens, and cyborgs alike.

In recognition of this truly monumental man and speech, the Carter Memorial was officially opened to the public today, made completely with Mutant labor to show that they can be beneficial to society just as much as regular human beings.
