It was the middle of the afternoon and Mikaru, for the lack of the better term, was terribly bored. All of his classes were done for the day, his flying class would be later this night, and so he had absolutely nothing to do. It was downright crazy. He was never bored. Even if he was bored in the past he always found something to entertain himself, namely in the form of a pretty mare. Granted, it was harmless flirting, at least, to him it was. The younger mares probably didn’t understand that though and he’d certainly had his fair share of googly eyed females. Honestly it rather creeped him out when they got to that point.

What was ironic though is that he found himself wanting anything to make him less bored and if a googly eyed mare came about he wasn’t sure if he would want to resist the temptation to lead them on in fun. Now THAT was something Mikaru didn’t want to do. However when he was bored he tended to do things that he didn’t mean. To the elders in his life he would hear them muttering something about him being young and vibrant. Well, he was young, but not THAT vibrant. At least, he didn’t think so. However others were sure to say the opposite, not that he would admit to that one. It just wasn’t in his nature.

Given that he had nothing to do Mikaru took to the skies in flight, slowly gliding over the treetops in a bored fashion. The wind felt nice on his face for this time of day. Noon seemed to be the warmest. He was lucky enough to have a lighter coat so the rays of sun bounced off more than they were let in. However it wasn’t perfect due to the darker parts of his coat. Either way he didn’t let it distract him too much less he accidently run into something or someone for that matter if they were flying through. True it would give him something more exciting to do but he was sure the other party wouldn’t think so.

So he opted to scan the mountain side for some sort of cave or area he could explore and entertain himself with. He’d always wanted to try and explore this area but he never really had the time given he’d been so busy with his classes. Damn classes, they always took up so much of his time. They were worth it in the long run though, at least, he hoped they would be. It was at this time he got rather distracted, not necessarily paying attention to where he was flying.

Ah, the summer breeze! The clear, blue sky! It was a perfect day to fly -- but then, when was it not? Even in the most dangerous of storms Witseidutsei felt the urge to spread her wings and take to the sky, daring nature itself to just try and stop her. And oh, it dared and it tried, but Witseidutsei would not be defeated, twitching her feathers and adjusting her wings just so to ride with the chaotic winds of fierce storms. But today was not one of those days, and she glided around the mountains easily, allowing the thermals to push under her wings and higher into the sky.

She had no particular destination in mind -- Witseidutsei was merely enjoying a nice, easy flight through the sky with the breeze tossing her mane about in a windswept mess. Folding her wings back, the mare began a speedy dive down the side of the mountains, and as she neared the treetops she spread her wings out again to swoop above them, and the simple action filled her with joy. Below her rabbits and foxes and other critters ran about, and they would never know the blessing of the sky as she did -- it made her feel sad for them, those poor, pitiful creatures.

As she slowed down into an easy glide, a small hummingbird darted up from the trees to meet her, nipping affectionately at the mare's mane. "There you are, Ocheeva," she laughed, greeting the small colourful bird that was her companion. Ocheeva let out a small chirp as she settled on Witseidutsei's back between her shoulders, huddling her small frame against the back of the mare's neck.

The conversation might have continued were it not for the brilliant flash of red that caught Witseidutsei's attention out from the corner of her eye. It was level with her own flight path and coming in quickly; startled, she realised that if one of them didn't move fast, the other creature was about to collide straight into her. With a neigh of alarm, she folded the wings on her right side down against her body as she spread the left wings higher, turning sharply in the air while dropping down closer to the trees at once, just barely missing the stallion.

With an agitated huff of disdain Witseidutsei spread her wings back out, her hooves grazing the tree tops before she shot back up into the sky like a bullet, turning around to face whatever reckless being had nearly hurt them both. "Hey, you!" She shouted at the stallion with a clipped tone in her voice. "Watch where you're flying!"
