"HEATHER!"

Demy lay sprawled on the living room floor, crayons spread out around him as he colored away at....whatever it was he was working on. Work...play, it all used crayons so sometimes one simply couldn't tell. This particular project had a rather colorful scribble in the corner that resembled his super amazing General outfit.

General Scheelite, he still couldn't believe it!

"Should I use navy blue or this green for the sky?" 'This green' was of course the brightest shade of green he could find in the box. Yeah...it was definitely just a random project and nothing of significant work purpose.

Heather had been having a quiet afternoon. Sitting on the couch, watching tv, with a bowl of popcorn in her lap and a soda on the coffee table. About ten minutes in, tornado Demy had made it's appearance and it seemed like the entire living room was suddenly in shambles. She'd heaved a sigh of feigned agitation (she was slowly becoming used to these things) and turned the volume up to drown out his noise.

Unfortunately she hadn't counted on him speaking up to match the volume, and then some.

"Purple." she replied to his question, flicking through the channels to find something decent. Maybe something that would capture his attention and she could try to clean up the mess. Then again, that would mean cartoons. Which she wasn't in the mood to deal with either.

She was likely still recovering from the eye rape that was Scheelite's general uniform. So bright vibrant colours in cartoons were not a bonus right now.

It was a pretty normal day, all days considered, even in spite of some of Demy's behaviors that Heather was still trying to become accustomed to. All in all, things were proceeding in a typical fashion. If it weren't for Demy, things might have actually seemed a bit boring. There was no hint that anything interesting or out-of-place was going to happen this afternoon, except perhaps a visit from some solicitor that they'd close the door on and the promptly forget about.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

Behind the door there was a pretty, petite woman, with mint hair all done up in giant corkscrews and an expression so placid it was borderline eerie. While she was dressed rather professionally, there were no hints that she was trying to sell anything: there were certainly no pamphlets or flyers on her person. Curiouser yet, there was no sign of any foreign cars having been parked anywhere nearby.

"Silly Heather, purple isn't an option! ...Well it wasn't at least, but it sounds pretty good so maybe I'll use some purple too..." And then the doodle sky became three colors. The more the merrier, in his opinion. Heather would likely argue that idea.

At the doorbell ring, Demy looked up excitedly before leaping to his feet and dashing off to the door leaving crayons in his wake.

"HEATHER, I've got it don't worry! I wonder who it is, I didn't invite anyone over today did you Heather? HRMM? If you did why didn't you tell me? Sheesh, mystery guests and everything!"

The door was quickly reached, and Demy eagerly threw open the door to greet the one behind it. The striking thing besides the giant grin on his face? A cape.

Made from a bedsheet.

"Hey, purple is always an option." the girl replied, her tone chastising the boy. She grabbed up her soda, taking a sip and had little time to respond before Demy was up on his feet and running to the door.

When she finally got a chance to speak, Demy was already there. She looked at him and shook her head. "Uh, no I didn't invite anyone over. Maybe it's the newspaper boy. He's usually around about this time." while Demy was distracted she turned back to the television, finally setting on a fashion show that seemed to be only about halfway through.

"Try not to scare them away okay?"

Being powered up while going on a few visits to the homes of a few Negaverse agents would have been more than a little hazardous for Laurelite and the people she was checking up on. Because of that, it was the mostly unheard-of Vasilisa Navazhdeneva making a visit today, offering a polite incline of the head in greeting as she took the first two steps to let herself in.

"Good afternoon, Demetri... and Paragonite," she crisply said, broadening her smile just a tiny bit as she nodded towards Heather on the couch. "I hope now was not a bad time to stop by for a moment."

Her eyes fixed momentarily on the makeshift cape, but she said nothing and her composure did not change. However, the slightest narrowing of her eyes and stiffening of her posture did something to suggest that she may not have been a fan of bedsheets being used as costumes or props.

"My name is not Demetri! Arghhhhh seriously, don't call me that! Please? ....Wait...how did you?..."

Few had ever called him that name. Few even knew of that name. So the boy simply stared and stared more as she let herself in to try and gather his thoughts on who had -ever- called him that.

"Er....afternoon, I guess?" The boy peered around Vasilisa, offering Heather a shrug before inching his way back around to the newcomer's front and eying her.

"...I know you right?"

He was just a bit slow on the uptake.

The unfamiliar voice caught Heather's attention. Definitely not the paper boy. Pulling herself up and giving herself a quick dust off she gave a curt nod to the woman at the door. She didn't recognize her, but she called her by her lieutenant name. That at least commanded a modicum of respect and curiosity.

"Afternoon, and no. You didn't really interrupt anything of any significance. Though Demy may try to convince you otherwise." she motioned for Demy to get out of the doorway.

"Please, do come in."

"Queen Beryl was able to give me a lot of your names when I asked," said Vasilisa. "It seems she retained some memories from her old vessel that could still be put to good use."

She sauntered her way in further, stepping mindfully around a scattering of colorful crayons that had somehow made her way onto the floor. "I've spoken to you under the name Laurelite before," she explained, as a Tickle-Me-Pink was sent rolling a ways by the tip of her shoe. "Back at my post in Europe, some called me Vasilisa when we were... off-duty."

'Off-duty' for her just meant powered down. There was really no such thing as off-duty in the Negaverse, as far as she was concerned.

The name Queen Beryl earned a tiny bit of interest, but not very much. Demy respected her as their Queen, yes, but ever since she and Nealite had parted ways he'd grown less inclined to really care about her. As long as she wasn't breathing down his neck, he was okay! Or so he thought. Really, Nealite being referred to as an 'old vessel' gained more of a reaction, and it didn't seem to be a very pleased one.

"Hrmph."
The boy's grin broke into a scowl, but he at least had the good sense to not voice his displeasure, especially since a moment later the mystery girl was explaining her Negaverse name was Laurelite. As in General Queen Laurelite.

s**t!

"Er..General Queen! ...Hi?"
Demy scrambled in front of her, moving to pick up his crayons or at the very least move them into a single spot. It was more out of fear of any getting broken than it was for general appearance in front of one's superiors.

When Vasilsa announced she was actually Laurelite, shock flushed through the lieutenant's system. She presumed the visit was due to Scheelite's recent, and she was sure for some, mind-boggling, promotion. But of all the times to pop in it had to be when Demy was running around playing with crayons and make believe capes. Clearly promotions didn't come served with a side of maturity. Demy had been buzzing around on his high ever since it had happened.

At least Demy had the common sense to try to tidy up his mess... too little to late, but it was an effort.

"I see, well, do make yourself comfortable. Is there... anything we can do for you?" the lieutenant offered (as humbly as she was capable of). Outside of Scheelite's promotion the only thing she could garnish out of a visit from a General Queen was that there was work to be done.

Vasilisa accepted Heather's offer, gingerly taking a seat down on the couch. The TV was currently displaying a commercial for some kind of miracle cleaning product, as if it were passive-aggressively making a note of the messy state he had made of the floor. She didn't pay much attention to it, instead passing her gaze between the two tenants of the household she had entered.

After quietly smoothing out the wrinkles of her skirt, her hands rested delicately on her knees, her posture immaculate. There was a smattering of burn scars visible all up and down her left arm, that she wasn't making an effort in hiding. "No need to go out of your way," she said. "I'm only here to see how you two are getting along... what sort of life you lead when you're not in uniform... and, of course, to extend my congratulations to you on your promotion, Demetri."

She smiled a bit.

"So now, we have two soliders of the Dark Kingdom... on different parts of the path, but both marching forward..." Now the television was displaying some soap opera. The low-budget dramatic music in the background was just a little bit unfitting. "But where does that path take you, Paragonite... Scheelite? What does being a part of the Negaverse mean to you?"

Where Heather was polite and seemingly had her s**t together, Demy was all over the place in his attempts to save his crayons and not seeming to mind what kind of impression this put on the visiting General Queen. He did, at least, straighten back up to listen to Laurelite's statements (the mention of his promotion made him grin! but the name made him frown), and following question. However his arms were full of crayons and he had a general air about him that read child.

The boy shot a look to Heather before quickly launching into his answer. What did the Negaverse mean to him? Well...everything!

"Ma'am, my name's Demy if you don't mind..." The name Demetri still made him twitch. "and thank you! I'm doing my best to live up to the title!"

As he talked the blonde set his crayons safely back on the table. The more he spoke, the more that childish air went away and the Negaverse General within shone through.

"The Negaverse is everything to me, ma'am! Heather here has been awesome and taken me into her home and family, and to me that view extends to all the officers. Heather's my sis, but I view everyone as members of my family that deserve my protection. I'd do anything I can to help them! I've got lots of ideas too, to help make sure we've got plenty of recruits and that they all get properly trained!"

As Demy prattled off his response to the General Queen, Heather took a seat in a nearby chair. She wasn't especially certain of protocol in this situation but since it only seemed casual business, than it seemed more than alright to sit herself.

It was a strange question, that Vasilisa posed to them. When Demy finished his explanation Heather continued to think on how she should word her response.

"Well I can't say I'm entirely certain how to answer that." she offered carefully, weighing her words. "The Negaverse, as a whole, represents an ideal vision. A desire to change the world, so to speak." she clasped her hands together and continued.

"I don't see it as a family" she tossed a glance to Demy, "Sorry, but I don't." Then back to the General Queen.

"The other lieutenants are my co-workers and Captains and above are those we answer to." she shrugged.

"We have a mission, I strive to carry out that mission to the best of my abilities."

"The Negaverse really means the world to you, doesn't it..." she observed, cool gaze resting on Demy's electrified expression. The question didn't really need much in the way of confirmation. His thoughts on the subject were completely obvious; the enthusiasm he had for it was almost a tangible force in the room. "I suppose it can serve that purpose, for those in need of one for whatever reason... whether they never had one of their own, or found the one they did have to be... lacking..."

The fingers of one hand curled and rippled in her lap, just a bit.

"But Heather is right too, you know." Vasilisa's attention slid its way other to the apartment's other tenant; the junior officer of the Dark Kingdom. "The Negaverse wasn't formed to be a family. Its primary reason for existing isn't to give people one. We have a mission to carry out... and it is the duty of each member of this family to see it through."

She paused -- looking briefly at the television, as if it were another audience member -- and then brought her gaze back to each of them in turn. "Do either of you recall what that mission is?"
