((This rp is set on Sunday June 12th ICly, however it can extend as long as people want to play in it. Anyone and everyone is welcome to hop into the arcade for a solo post or for some back and forth. And if you want to say hi to the birthday boy just bold his name in your post and I'll make sure I respond.))

Electric Dreams.

The bright and blinking two story building looked somehow brighter today then it's usual bright and garish self. All the normal lights blinked and ran through the windows, signs advertising different gaming companies and the laser tag arena sign shone brightly through darkened windows. But they were accompanied with something a little different today. A hand crafted banner dangled over the double doorway proclaiming in very bright colors 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY COREY'. Large balloons bobbed around softly in the light breeze, tied to the benches and trash cans and practically every tie-able surface that littered the store front. A sign hanging in the large front window aimed to intice offering Free cake and half priced drinks all day.

The soft sound of base could be heard escaping whenever the door opened and already the place was becoming busy. Upon entering one would be greeted by a stretch of arcade games both modern and classic. There were first person shooters, dancing games, side scrollers, air hockey, and ticket earning games of chance and skill filling just about every wall and crevease. In the back corner the concession and prize stand sported an intensely large sheet cake and a line of people signing up for the next game of laser tag. More games awaited upstairs for those who decide to make the trip upwards.

The interior was just as cheerfully decorated, colorful streamers tossed around like someone had teepee'd the place and all the employees decked out in a 'not optional' party hat of their own. Occassionally whistles would blare or there would be loud pops of those cheap confetti throwing poppers intermingled in the voices and pulsing sounds of the many games in the background.

The arcade was busy and lively, which was the best gift that Corey could possibly ask for. He knew the drill, intice them with something free and they'd be willing to spend more then they intended on everything else. For anyone who knew the birthday boy, or happened to have question or business to do with him Corey happily worked away, cutting pieces of cake for visitors and cashing out laser games and ticket prizes at the large concession stand.

Nora Merlin was not a gamer. Nora Merlin could barely even hold a controller, let alone compete with any of her fellow patrons at the arcade. She had no idea what it meant to be a Guitar Hero. She barely even understood the rules of Tetris.

But none of that mattered right now. She could have been at a florist's shop, a library or an office building, and it wouldn't have made a difference. There was a particular reason she was showing her bright and cheery face at the Electric Dreams Arcade today, and it could be summed up in two words.

Free. Cake.

With her bass guitar cased up and strapped behind her back, she had a bit of trouble maneuvering herself, occasionally bumping into fellow cake-lovers as she meandered her way over the table. Every time, she offered a smoothly-worded apology, and every time, it brought her a little bit closer. There was a bit of a crowd gathering, however, so she wasn't at her destination quite yet. So, she bounced on the balls on her feet and looked around, perhaps in search of someone to chat with while she waited for a chance at the free dessert.

Today was a very important day! Well...all days were, but today was the birthday of his boss and like hell was he going to miss that! Besides, it was at the arcade which he honestly loved, and though he was off today he still wanted to stop by and lend a helping hand. Corey was going to need it!

Oh, and he also totally wanted some cake.

Demy stepped through the doors into the arcade, a grin lining his face and a big shiny bag in his hands. It wasn't very much, he hadn't gotten to know Corey just that great yet to know exactly what to pick out, but it was a few fun things and the bag was bright! That had to count for something! The boy cradled the present, winding his way through the crowd and looking to see just who had decided to show up all while looking for the birthday boy.

In an attempt at finding any gaps in the crowd she could possibly wriggle her way through, Nora swiveled around on her feet, guitar case swinging outward while she did so.

At around the same time Demy was expertly weaving his way through the throngs of people, coming dangerously close to the rosy-eyed redhead. She wasn't quite paying full attention to her immediate surroundings. Neither, apparently, was the gift-bearing arcade worker.

The result?

Guitar case corner, straight to the back of the head.

"Coooooorey! Man you in here? I have something for you! It's awesome and shin---ACK!"

Thwacked in the head with a guitar case. Sadly, it was rather appropriate! But also rather startling and somewhat painful. The boy yiped, jumped back like god himself had struck him, and gave Nora the most confused look he could muster. He looked remarkably like a kicked puppy.

At least he had managed to hold onto the present!

"Er...hi?"
The blonde whimpered, one hand keeping it's hold on the present while the other moved to rub at his poor sore head.

What brought a ten year old to an arcade when she didn't avidly play video games? Balloons. She spent awhile looking at them outside, even trying to reach them before heading inside to see what all the fuss was about. Perhaps there were more balloons inside. That sounded promising. What she was greeted with instead of balloons though was a rather interesting surprise. Metal boxes and flashing lights coming from them and various sounds all over the place. She just stood there, tall for a ten year old, staring in awe. She had more money than most ten year olds with her given her parental predicament and the original plan to go shopping instead of stopping into this strange wonderland. She didn't know what to do, and while wondering around she soon found her way over to one of the dancing machines. There was really exciting music coming from this one.

"What do you think it is?" She asked her obvious adult supervision: Octavian Oswald the Bunny Plushie.

So many people. SO MANY.

It was a wonderful way to start the summer season. A spectacular way to spend his 26th birthday. Games were screaming with life and attention, the cash register was being opened for almost as much time as it seemed to be closed. And the atmosphere! That was quite possibly the best.

It was so cheerful and lively. Excitement buzzed and crackled through the air about as loud as all the talking and laughter.

He was cutting cake in rows like a pro. Handing out pieces two plates at a time the eagerly awaiting public. The tables it seemed weren't going to be enough.. he should have thought to bring a few extra, but maybe he'd be able to call in a favor later and have someone drop some by.

"Hello! Welcome to Electric Dreams"

"Have a nice day!"

"Chocolate or Vanilla?"

His head perked up from his task of cutting and handing out cake when he thought he heard his name. Through the crowd he couldn't find the source. Maybe it was his imagination, so back to work.

"Oh, my. Oh goodness, I'm so sorry!"

Nora's reaction was immediate, and between the two of them it ultimately ended up looking like they were having a competition to see who could make the saddest puppy face. Genuine guilt for her mistake could be seen written across her face, her hands clasped up to her chest as she inched forward to make sure her improptu victim was alright. "You're not bleeding, are you? Does it hurt too much? Here, let's see if we can get you some ice from the drink counter."

And with that she had gently clasped Demy's free arm, attempting to meander them both closer to Corey. The cake booth was the same place they needed to go to buy drinks, but sweet sugary goodness could wait a while.

xxxxxTalia was smiling brightly as she walked in the door that day. She knew it was Corey's birthday today, but honestly it had slipped her mind until she saw the sign. She had come to the little arcade with the intention of playing some arcade games and was pleasantly reminded of Corey's birthday.

xxxxxs**t! She had forgotten a present! Glancing around she quickly dodged into the nearest corner store and bought a soda with the money she would've spent on arcade games. The things she sacrificed. What a saint.

xxxxxShe politely thanked the cashier, and then headed out the door back towards the arcade. She had totally planned this, she told herself. It wasn't very convincing. Talia strolled up to the counter, and said, "Happy birthday Corey!" and then presented him the bottle of soda. Some birthday present. Especially since they had known each other for quite some time! It was then that she noticed he already had quite a few soda bottles by the cake. Wow, Talia. You are quite the intelligent young lady. Of course he would have soda already! It's his flippin' birthday! she thought.

xxxxxTo cover up the awkwardness, she grabbed herself a slice of cake and began eating. She had a moment to glance around the room, and notice just how many people were in the arcade at that point. "Woah! This place is packed! Congratulations" she said with a smile. What a wonderful birthday present.

"It's okay...I'm not bleeding so it'll be fine and---"

Before he could wipe the sad look off his face and continue to reassure the other he found himself grabbed and hauled off towards the counter.

"No really, I'm okay! I don't need ice...but I could go for a cold drink? That'd be great! And then I could give this present to Corey and say hello...err, what's your name?"

Sure she had hit him in the head, but he was fine and it was a perfect chance to make a new friend! "My name's Demy, I work here and stuff. Do you visit often? I haven't seen you around before..."

Corey grinned as a very familiar face made her way through the crowd, giving her a bit of a nod as a hello since his hands were full at the moment. "Heyyy Talia!"

Soda plopped, he took the moment to set down his knife, lifting the soda up in to the air victoriously. For a cheap a** like him the fact that anyone was willing to spend their hard earned money on him well.. for Corey it really WAS the thought that counted. His gifts to others would always end up being on the cheap side too, just full of love.. right.. right? "Awww, what a sweetheart! Thanks for coming." The soda was carefully set away from the customer ones, back by the register.

"I know right, absolutely amazing what a bit of free cake can do for you! Hope you can still find yourself some room on one of the games. I know you hate taking turns." He teased, his attention leaving her only to hand another piece of cake out and cash out a five for some ones. She'd been coming so long, he really did feel kinda like he'd watched her grow. It not older atleast prettier.

"Are you sure you're fine?" Nora asked. After Demy assured her that yes, he was, and after they repeated this exchange another three or four times on the way to the drink counter, the girl was mollified. She had let go of his arm and given him back his personal space, at least.

"A drink?" she parroted, tilting her head in thought. "Well, it's half price drinks today, right? So, I wouldn't be losing anything to get you one too, would I?" She flashed him a winning smile. They were almost at the counter. Delicious cake and refreshing cold drinks awaited them!

"My name's Nora. It's lovely to meet you, Demy." The cake was just a few more yards away. "And no, I've never been here. As a matter of fact..." and she paused, considering for a moment, "...I don't think I've ever been to an arcade like this one before."

"I can get my own drink! Or...maybe I could treat to a few rounds of a game or something?" They had just met, it didn't feel right asking her for a drink so soon! But trading some games for a drink? That would definitely be fair!

No longer hauled around, Demy flashed his own smile back as he followed her up to the counter. It faltered just for a moment when he heard that -terrible- statement though.

Never..been to an arcade? WHAT?

"Y-you haven't? It's only the most awesome place ever! Oh man, we are totally going on a tour and I'll play some games with you okay? It's great here, you'll love it!"

Castille was awful at video games.

She growled and put the fake plastic red gun back in it's holder, blowing a stray piece of hair out of her eyes while the ten year old she had been playing against cheered in victory. His cohorts danced around him like they were doing a rain dance, chanting his name.

"That games stupid anyway." She said, hopefully loud enough for the kids to hear. It was bad enough that she lost, but to a ten year old?

She stuck her hands in her pockets, pulling out the pile of tokens she had purchased upon entering the arcade. She shook the pile, and then placed them back in the safety of her jeans. In her other pocket, folded tickets pressed together. The arcade was packed with people as it was Corey's birthday. Castille smiled when she saw him handing out cake and greeting people. The truth was, she didn't play video games at home, or with friends. She didn't really like them at all as a matter of fact.

But she would hang out here all day if it meant seeing a certain someone and maybe saying hello.

She quickly stopped staring, and found another game to play; another shooting one (she inwardly grumbled), and placed two tokens in. Maybe she could practice and challenge that kid again.

Nora was already rummaging through her purse for dollar bills, peering up at the price labels on the dispenser once or twice to make sure she was getting out the right amount. "It's only right that I get a drink for you, hon," she said, the velvety tone of her voice having the same effect to it that reaching up to pat Demy on the head might have. "Consider it an apology beverage! You don't have to trade me back anything."

They were at the counter now, at last! With her money ready in one hand, she waited patiently for Corey to have a free hand to take it -- he certainly seemed busy!

At least the short wait gave Nora a few seconds to consider Demy's offer. After another moment, she slowly mused, "I guess just one or two games wouldn't hurt, though. How does that work, don't I need tokens or something?"
