Edward played the last few notes on the piano, fitfully ending a beautiful song. His family behind him clapped lightly after and he bowed jokingly with a light smirk on his face. "Thank you, thank you. Come back tomorrow evening for another performance." His gaze turned to Esme, the one who suggested he play, and caught her gaze while she smiled at him. Esme always loved her son's music, it would never be tiring to listen to. Edward stood and walked up the stairs to his room, he sat down on the cream colored couch that sat in place there. It was still early in the morning, almost noon, and he had nothing worth doing in the capacity of his own home. That and Bella was visiting her mother in Phoenix, so no distraction there. He ran a hand through his golden locks and decided to go to Seattle for a few hours, maybe buy upgrades for his Volvo.
"I'm going to Seattle for a while, I'll be back later." he spoke in a regular tone from the garage knowing his family would hear him. He grabbed sunglasses from the passenger seat once he was in the car, and sped off to Seattle not even looking at the speedometer at any part of the trip.
[Two-Hours Later]
He'd been to the book store, music shop, and actually went shopping without Alice. That meant serious boredom, and punishment from his little pixie once he arrived home. He sat inside a little cafe, even though he didn't eat anything, he sat reading the book that he had just gotten. A few waitresses had come up to him already wondering if he wanted a drink or a meal, he declined, knowing that's not all they wanted from him. A person's thoughts tell a lot about them, and that's why it was always hard to get Edwards good side before you even told him your name. He would always know when a person had good intentions or not so you might as well give up the idea to approach him.
He had excepted Bella when she first got here, she didn't automatically want to do anything sexual, provocative, or anything having anything to do with harming him. She was now almost a member of the family, every one liked her presence, even Rosalie the Ice Queen.
The book that he had gotten today was about Vampire's, if you have a sense of humor, he knew that it was going to mostly untrue. It made him chuckle a few times at all the old gestures toward what hurt a vampire and all that bullshit. It was a good laugh. While reading the book his left hand propped up his head, while the other one held the book open. Edward knew that he should be getting home pretty soon, but he just didn't want to go home yet. It was too stuffy in that house with nothing to do, so he might as well enjoy this freedom while it lasted.
Zane sniffed the air a bit, for some reason his nose was detecting some odd smell. The smell was the smell of apples along with the small of blood." what is that?" he asked himself as he looked around the place.Zane was new to the town due to him moving in with his cousin Jake who was a werewolf but Zane already knew that." okay I'm going to follow it" he said to himself as he followed the smell of blood and apples. The trail lead Zane to a cafe where he saw a man reading a book what? That's not who I think it is...is it?" he asked himself as he hid behind a mail box.
Edward shifted in his seat as he continued to read his new book. His eye's slowly drifted upward when he caught wind of a new smell, it wasn't awful, but it smelled faintly of wet dog. The only reason it the fragrance would be like that is if someone was a werewolf or at least had been around one recently, and he thought the former. His gaze roamed outside as he had a brief flash of thoughts that showed him sitting in the cafe. Someone must be watching him.
He looked and saw a figure shadowed by a mail box. 'If he thinks that that is going to hide him, he's got another thing coming.' Edward was half tempted to barge on over to the person and figure out what was the guy's deal, but he settled himself down more in the seat. He was going to make the person come to him, and not the other way around.
Zane sighed a bit before he stood up from his hiding spot and headed over to the cafe. "Hello there, may I get you a seat?" a woman asked in a cheerful tone.Zane looked at her, giving her a charming smile before he answers" ice tea please" he said to her in a soft voice. The woman nodded and walked away.Zane glanced over his shoulder at the man that was near him. ' So you are one of them...' he thought to himself.
Edward tensed slightly when the guy from outside had stepped into the cafe. The vampire didn't think him a threat, but with werewolves, you could never be too careful. 'So you are one of them...' he heard through the mind that was so close. Edward's head snapped up from his book, and dutifully locked eyes with the one watching him. Edward's face took on a blank expression, he wanted to know what this creature was doing here, and he didn't look familiar so he couldn't have belonged to Jacob's pack....unless he was new. New werewolves were even more dangerous. He took one hand, and gestured across from him in invitation to sit down with him. Edward hoped he sat across from him so he could get answers.
'Sorry but i think I will stay where I am.' Zane thought sending the other the message.there was no way taht Zane was getting close to tha tblood drinker even it they were a few feet from each other.the woman returned his his ice tea. " Thanks " he said smiling at her before narrowing his eyes.I'm surprised that you have not drank her blood yet zane thought as he drank his ice tea.
Edward narrowed his eyes at the man a few feet away. He shook his head, and pointed to his eye's in a subtle manner. They were gold and even a new cub should be able to tell what they mean. "Animal." he answered to the silent thought. It was a quiet whisper so that only Zane could hear it. He looked distastefully at the waitress that came over once more to see if he wanted something to drink. "No, thank you." When would they ever learn? Edward turned his eye's back onto the man in front of him, his fingers played lightly on the books cover.
Zane stood up and headed away from the cafe with out paying. Zane smiled to himself a bit wondering if the other woudl follow him" What he said was odd, animal? what is that suppose to mean? I could smell the blood from his mouth." Zane muttered to himself as he headed to the park.
Edward stood a second after Zane had left. There was no way he could put people in danger by fighting out in the open, but he really wanted to know who this new cub was. And what was that about blood? He had gone hunting after shopping, but before coming into that cafe. The vampire waltzed out, after grabbing his book, and walked cautiously behind this mutt in front of him to a nearby park. It was deserted enough to talk, but it was close enough to the city. "So? What did you want to talk about? I told you that you don't have to worry about me hurting human, from yourself is a different matter though." Edward sat on a nearby bench with his legs straddling it.
" You're a vampire right? or was the smell of apples and blood a misconception?" he asked as he stood facing the other. "Tell me what you meant by animal? Your eyes seem human and yet your skin is some what pale. Yet you told me that your eyes were animal expalin" he said to the other.
Are you an idiot? he wanted to say, but held it. Edward looked at the cub across from him. Hadn't he heard the stories, or he at least should have been told about us from his pack. "You smell blood, and that's a fact because I had just hunted before I came into that cafe..." Edward held up his hand in a act of surrender and caution. "but that was animal blood you smell. My family, coven, we all drink from animal blood and it turns our eye's a golden color. That's why I pointed to my eye's, I thought you knew." Apparently he was wrong. Edward tried to make the most of what he was saying.
" Well sorry, I just got into town yesterday and my cousin has not told me much about the things I need to know as I continue my changes" he said to the other. "Whats your name...wait, your that Edward guy right? the one who dated that girl my cousin liked a lot, but then for some reason he changed his mind and decided to date guys?" Zane said to him.
Edward wasn't too keen on thinking about that past, it was a mistake and one he'd never make again. Bella had left him a few months after he had come back from Volterra. And Jacob gay? That was surprise and kinda laughable, but he couldn't really say anything. That would be hypocritical of him. Edward still hadn't really told his family that he preferred guys because they expected he'd fall for a female vampire and then live the rest of his eternity in piece. They would disappointed. He didn't really have an answer for any of the others questions, so he nodded when he asked if he was Edward. No point in denying it. "So, what's your name? You must be apart from Jacob's pack if you know about Bella."
" I told you that I am new to this stuff. I did not even know what was going on with me until Jake wrote to me, telling me that I had to stay with him.He did not give me a reason, just that I had to do what he told me" Zane said to him." Zane...Zane black" he said as he turned his face to the side.
Edward grumbled under his breath. 'So he was related to the mutt. Greeaat.' Just what he needed, more dog's in Forks. Couldn't the community, both vampire and werewolves, just leave his family in piece? Well, Bella was quite a problem too considering she was with him all day a school when he didn't even want to look at her. "So. Are you staying permanently? Or just for a while?" Edward wondered if there were more of them coming. Pretty soon him and his family would be overrun.
" I think Im the last of the family to get into my...." Zane said only to puase as he tried to find the right words." As for me, I'll be staying jakes and his pack are the only ones that I know of that could help me...." Zane said as he continued to not look at the other.
