Marwa came skipping along the beach barely even paying attention to the squishing noise her feet made along the sand, one of her favourite noises. Instead all her attentions were turned towards finding her friend. Marwa had come along this strip of beach just yesterday and made a friend. Her first friend infact, a young male named Mydas. Now her eyes were peeled for the tan fur of her new friend.
As peeled and sharp as Marwa's eyes were she knew it was likely that Mydas would see her long before she saw him for her red fur stood out against the ocean and sand back drop her home provided to her. Unlike the day before though Marwa was proud of her fur, it was Mydas who had made her so proud.

Mydas rose early, even before the sun hinted at breaking over the horizon. The sky was tinted a soft pinkish glow and Mydas paused as he made his way from the family den -- it was a lovely color, and idly the youth wondered if his newest friend Marwa would enjoy the color.
He wanted to play with his new friend and thus was the reason for his early morning wakefulness. He had been sitting at the same exact place he'd first met Marwa for a long time, long enough that by the time he finally spotted her the sun was well over the horizon.
He was sitting in the surf, enjoying the feel of the breaking waves over his toes, when he caught sight of Marwa. Excited now, the youth rose to his feet and called out to the lioness.
"Marwa!"

Marwa thought about she depature from the den this mornign with a giggle, she of course had told her parents all about the friend that she had made the night before. She had been so proud that she had finally made her first friend, but when morning came it was as if nothing could hold the young lioness back. Her mother had barely been able to get her to have a bite to eat much less give her any sort of bath before Marwa went darting from the den, a warning of dinner time and how she best be back followeded her as she went.
As she approached the place where she had met Mydas the day before she heard him call out her name, the smile that was already plastered to her face grew instantly and she ran to be at his side. "Mydas!" she explaimed as she made it to him, coliding with him just slightly as she ahd been unable to slower her scampering feet in time. "Hi!" she giggled.

Mydas grinned hugely at Marwa, his eyes bright with happiness. He hadn't told his family about his new friend -- she was his special secret, and he wanted to keep her to himself for just a little longer. Besides, there was no harm in keeping their friendship to himself, was there? Mydas certainly didn't think so.
"Finally! I been waitin' for you for hours!" He laughed and batted at her shoulder, rising to his feet and spinning in a little circle. "Lets go on a adventure, Marwa," he said with excitement. "Do you like adventures?"

Marwa ducked her head in applogy "I am sorry I didn't mean to keep you... my mother she wouldn't let me out of the den fast enough." she felt bad now that she had kept her new friend waiting, she hazard to say that that didn't make her a very good friend. She kept her head bowwed down trying to feel better about the situtation, Marwa hadn't realized what a sensitive side she had.
Finally lifting her head she tried to focus on the question he had asked her... "An adventure?" she asked her head cocked inquistively to the side. "I've never been on one of those." she told him a devilish grin spreading across her lips.

Mydas offered another laugh, hoping that she didn't feel terribly bad. He hadn't minded the wait -- after all, he'd gotten to watch the sun rise in all it's glory, and he told her as much.
"It's fine! I promise. I got to watch the sun come up and turn the ocean purple and the sky pink. It was pink like the inside of a seashell. Do you like pink, Marwa?" He wasn't ashamed to admit that he liked pink. It was a pretty color when it spread across the sky in gentle tendrils.
"Well, today is your first adventure, then, Marwa and you are lucky because I'm pretty good at adventurin'." He beamed at her before rising to his feet and slowly trotting away. "C'mon!"

Marwa felt better as soon as Mydas said he wasn't mad she wasn't really one to dwell on anything for too long, "Hmm the color pink" she said allowed as she thought about the particular color, "I don't think it is one of my favorites.... it clashes with my furr." she told him a silly grin on her face. Marwa was only now beginning to be proud of her pelt and it was all thanks to Mydas.
"Well I am glad that my first adventure should be with you Mydas" she told the other youngster as she trotted along beside him. She wondered what an adventure could have in store for her, what ever it was she hoped it wouldn't make her late for dinner, she knew that she would get a talking to if it did. "Where do we go for an adventure she asked the young male."

Mydas laughed at her comment about pink clashing with her fur, but he didn't try and disagree outright with her. Mydas thought that just about any color would look awfully pretty against Marwa's bright pelt. "Aww, that's not true. Maybe we'll find a pretty shell and have someone make a necklace for you," he said softly, a blush tinging his ears.
Clearing his throat, the young male continued speaking, "Well, the great thing is that we don't have to go too far. I was thinking we can go beach-combing up the beach a ways, or we can go hunting for feathers in the jungle. Those both sound good to me, how about you, Marwa?"

Marwa thought hard for a mintue about what adventure she would like better, "Beach-combig... if we are going to find a shell we have to stay on the beach." she said a giggle in her voice. Already her eyes were searching the soft sand for a hint of anything that might be interesting, however the cubs eyes were untrained for this type of activity so nothing jumped out at her.
She walked slowly trying to make sure that she stayed at Mydas' side she wanted them to have the adventure together. She desperatly wanted to find something interesting though!.

Mydas laughed, wrinkling his nose at the female. She was silly, but it was cute. Her giggles made him want to laugh and that was a pretty great feeling. Shaking his head, Mydas glued his eyes to the ground. He was quite intent on finding something pretty that Marwa could wear around her neck.
"You'd think that shells would be easier to find, but I guess all the crafters get here way earlier than we did," He grinned, shaking his head. "We might have to head up the beach even farther so that we can find a place that hasn't been picked clean."
His walk was slow and leisurely -- it was obvious the boy was in no rush. Mydas wanted to enjoy the morning and the company of the cub he was walking with.

Marwa watched him closely trying to see what he was doing how to look, it should be easy finding a shell on the beach but she wasn't really sure where to start looking. When Mydas mentioned the crafters she smiled, but of course they would have come and found what was washed up in the waters the night before.
"Okay" she chirrped walking behind him a new light in her eye. "Mydas have you ever done this with someone else?" she asked, she was hoping the answer would be no she wanted to be special, Mydas usually made her feel very special.

"No," Mydas replied softly, sending her a sideways glance. "You're my best friend, Marwa."
Mydas hoped that his ears and nose hadn't turned too pink. He was certain that he was blushing, but he was being honest. He didn't do much with the other cubs in the pride. His best friend was Marwa. She was so pretty and sweet and gentle. Mydas liked being around her - she made him feel big and strong and capable. It was nice.
"Now come on," he prodded gently, moving quickly up the beach. "Lets have some fun!"
By the end of their playtime, they'd found a mountain of shells and bones, feathers and seaweed. He'd had the best time ever, and Mydas was even more certain that Marwa was going to be his very best friend forever.
