Crisanto trotted into the open field in high spirits - he was going to fly today! His mother, who felt bad that his father wasn't around at all had enrolled him in a school. She hadn't wanted him to be anything like his father and this was her solution.
Cris didn't mind at all - he was going to have so much fun and make friends! He had been having trouble learning how to use his wings - they were somewhat large and encumbersome. In the following days all that would change! He paced up and down the field, waiting for his teacher to arrive eagerly.

Claude had decided that flying would not be a good way to enter the teach grounds. It would either intimidate the student or give them high expectations for the first lesson. Instead, he walked. He’d forgotten how long walking took, however, and soon grew bored of it. Claude’s mind had wandered as he made his way to the clearing, at last reaching it when he could see nothing but whatever dancing in his mind, just behind his eyes. The sunlight penetrated his day dreaming, making him blink for a few moments before he finally smiled. “Crisanto, I expect,” he said softly, lowering his head to meet with the colt’s. “So, you want to learn to fly. It’s not going to be easy. You’re going to get hurt quite a bit.” A fair warning, he felt, one he wished he’d had while learning to fly. “You look like a strapping young stallion. I think you’ll be able to manage.” He straightened and cleared his throat. “Crisanto. I am not your mother, and I am not your father. I am your teacher. You will be given one chance to leave this class, and that is now. Once we start you will not be allowed to stop. I can promise you that you will hate me long before you learn to fly. Do you still wish to continue?”

Crisanto wasn't about to let anything deter him from his goal of learning to fly. He didn't want to just learn the basics either - he wanted to be the best. "Yes please!" He said without hesitation, attention completely focused on his teacher. There was nothing more that he wanted in this moment. He would work hard, practice for as long as it took. Once he set his mind to something, he accomplished it unless it was impossible. In his mind, nothing was impossible.

The zeal in the young foal endeared Claude. It was sweet to see another so excited about learning. As cliche as the sentiment was, it reminded Claude of himself. Granted, Claude's drive had been considerably darker... his ends more violent... The stallion shook his head to rid himself of the sad thoughts. That chapter of his life was closed, and looking back at it didn't help him move forward.
He cleared his throat as he stood straighter. "Well, since you're so eager, let's not waste any time." The red stallion's voice under went a change in that moment. From personable to professional.
"Wings out." Claude followed his own command, extending his wings with an audible fwump. "Fight doesn't come from simple up and down motions. Please follow my lead." He moved his wings slowly up and down as he spoke. "As you can see, this motion feels unnatural. Flight comes from a circular motion. Forward, down, back, and up." Again, he slowly mimicked himself. "For the first few lessons, we will be doing various exercises with this motion. You cannot hope to be held up by wings can cannot support your body weight."
