(( RP between tefla's Stormfall and Kamiki's Cataclysm ))


The trek up the path was arduous. Stormfall's flank heaved with the effort of carrying extra weight during the climb. But now as she glanced at the view of her valley home she felt the energy return. The chance to talk to her mother was weighing on her decision to return to the land where she herself was born.

Canting her head to the side Stormfall walked proudly into the valley proper - her eyes scanning the Soquili gathered for one she hadn't seen for a long time. Would Cataclysm even be here? Suddenly Stormfall became nervous. What did her mother think of her leaving early in her life?

The Soquili that began to approach had Stormfall's eyes widening in surprise. It had always been forefront in the mare's mind that it'd take forever to come to this point. But the moment passed and suddenly Stormfall could not help but close the distance between herself and her mother. This reunion was too long in the making. Stormfall's companions flew from the mare's back as they took to the air and vanished from sight.

Reaching her mother Stormfall opened her wings wide before speaking with choked emotion. "Mother."

It was the only word that managed to find it's way out before Stormfall's voice failed her.

Stormfall took in her mother's scent as she was enveloped in her embrace. She'd been longing to spend time with her mother ever since Balrog granted her passage back into the herd. She'd left for a time after that and had found Dichali. Now she was back and would probably stay for a while.

"Forever it seems. I've missed you mom."

Nuzzling Cataclysm in return Stormfall glanced around the mountain valley before letting her wings flutter in the wind.

"I'm sorry I've been gone for so long. Both times. There's so much to catch up on."

"It's good to be home."

Stormfall pricked her ears forward at her mother's next question and the shiver that she attempted to hide wracked her frame. What could she possibly tell her mother about where she'd gone and what she had done in the months of her absence.

"I think everything is alright. I've met a stallion though and traveled with him for some time. But something happened and I had to return and talk with you. Something has changed in my life and I need your help."

Stormfall sighed before letting her wings snap out to the sides and for the first time her rounded belly was exposed. The sight in itself was indicative of Stormfall's condition. Although she was an adult this was one of the times that she felt like a small filly again. Scared of the unknown.

Stormfall glanced towards the path she'd taken for entry into the herd before listening to her mother's questions. In truth she had run out on Dichali - scared about what was happening. But Dichali had known about her condition.

"Thank you mom. The stallion in question, Dichali, does know that I am with foal. I came back home alone though. I needed a little time to think to myself and that's when I decided that I would return to the herd. I did let Dichali know that I was leaving for a bit and return to him once the foals arrived."

Stormfall shuffled her feet before breathing deeply of the valley air. She'd been born her but left early and only returned briefly before going away again. With at least one foal to raise she would like to stay with the herd but part of her wished to raise her children, albeit briefly, with Dichali.

"Once again mother - thank you. It means a lot to me that I can find safety while I remain here."

Stormfall sensed the hidden meaning in her mother's words even as she shook her head in a negative reply. Obviously Balrog might not have mentioned it to Cataclysm that Stormfall had agreed to the tenants of the herd on her first return to the valley.

"Balrog, I mean grandfather, explained to me what was expected from members of the herd and I believe I've held true to them. Dichali is a Flutter Soquili. His wings are shaped almost like a dragonfly ... but he does have them. With my parentage and his I think the foals will be all right. I pray to Thunderbird that they will be."

Stormfall maneuvered herself to lean against Cata's flank before sighing deeply. "I want to make you and grandfather proud of my decision."

Stormfall listened quietly as Cataclysm explained the story of another herd member before nodding. For now the concerns that she'd had at first had been slowly abated. Letting her eyes close briefly the mare gave a soft sigh. She was home. How long she'd remain afterwards was always up in the air but for now she was content.

Cataclysm landed nearby, looking over and seeing her daughter. She walked slowly over, tilting her hair as she saw the baskets beside her. She tossed her braided mane happily and trotted over to Stormfall. "Three...." she said, sounding impressed. Her chest puffed up as she went to examine them.
