The site of the famous Human - Mutant togetherness speech given by the former Mayor, it has since become a hub of activity, for both residence of Megalopolis and tourists alike. xxxxDahlia found herself amongst the grass, her hand lightly tugging at a blade of grass beside her head. Her lips had curled into a small grin as she watched the piece become straight or curved at her wish. It would be considered as strange to see a nineteen year old girl playing with grass; however, they didn't know Dahlia then. She always revelled in small things. It was a coping mechanism after the stressful days in the hospital.

Taking in a breath, Doll released the grass and redirected her attention to the sky. Several clouds had consumed the sky, masking the orange glow of the sunset. It was not the best sky she had ever seen but it was memorable in its own way. Today marked the first day she would call herself a 'super hero'. Although she would never admit it, Dahlia was not sure how to take on such a title. All she could do was heal and throw needles, not exactly what a superhero was made out of. At this moment, she would have to consider herself more of a sidekick. A sidekick for who, Dahlia couldn't say.

After pulling herself lazily onto her feet, Dahlia began to wonder through the park. There wasn't much to do for the next while so perhaps she would search for that partner she felt she needed. To do so, Dahlia would have to get moving. If she were lucky, hopfully she would meet someone worth wild tonight.

Smith idly took pictures as he slowly stolled through the park, watching as the tourists awkwardly stood by as super beings used their powers for seemingly everyday things, like mowing the grass and heating street vendor food. The bored photographer never was one for sunsets, similar to the one occuring now, because they reminded him that all good things must come to an end. He knew that as soon as the sun peaked just below the horizon those kids were 10 times more likely to be kidnapped, raped, and sent halfway across the world as sex slaves while their parents would probably have their car stolen and simultaneously be swindled out of their money by corrupt hotel employees. It was the sad truth of Megalopolis, all coins have two sides, and sometimes tails isn't as shiny as people hope.

He was about to exit Pilcher's and head back to the, appropriately titled, man-cave, when he noticed an innocent looking woman near his age that appeared to be leaving without an escort. "Heading home so soon?" he smiled as he signaled for the woman to smile for a picture "The sunset looks gorgeous this time of year!" he continued before lying on about how he loved the sunset in the summer time, hoping to gain out of this woman's apparent ignorance of the city. Sure, he knew it was wrong to take advantage of people, but hey, he was a Megalopolite.

xxxxDahlia found herself mildly surprised when a stranger with a camera acknowledged her. She took his signal and gave a small smile as her head tilted slightly to the right. The girl waited for a flash. When it seem that one was not coming, Dahlia withdrew her smile and answered to the man's comment, "Perhaps, but it's not overly gorgeous tonight. Gotta say I'm a little more than disappointed." Her eyes were casted off to watch the sunset once again. It was a pity that its magesty was hidden behind a sheet of gray.

Her blue eyes flickered back to the man. In truth, Dahlia was not sure how to handle this man. She hardly knew him and less about his motives. It usually was never a good sign to run into a stranger at night - especially if they're of the opposite sex. She tried to give him a soft smile as she managed a reply, "I hadn't planned to leave soo early. I just got off work so I was hoping for a little more fresh air." Dahlia looked off into the distance before remembering her rude behaviour, "Oh, sorry I forgot to mention my name, eh? I'm Dahlia. Doll for short." The heroine offered him a hand and a smile.

Smith mentally kicked himself as his conversation with "Doll" didn't play out anywhere near he had planned. Not only did she think the sunset was crap, so his lies were pointless, she also mentioned getting off of work before coming to the park, so she obviously lived near, if not in, Megalopolis, meaning she had to be aware of the dangers. "Kiyoki." he replied as he shook her hand "Kiyoki Robinson, but most of my friends just call me 'Smith'. Like keys are made by locksmiths. So, yeah Smith!" He grinned wildly as he explained the origin of his very average nickname, for his more than average birth name.

Kiyoki started walking down the path again, hoping that Doll would follow, though not with the same intentions he possessed before. In his view, if a woman of her appeal could live in Megalopolis without having to be a streetwalker, they deserved respect. "So where do you work?" he asked as he walked backwards, still facing Doll, who looked as if she was as fragile as porcelain. Smith contemplated possible pet names that we get some reaction of of her as he balanced on the balls of his feet, taking candid pictures of people slowly leaving the park.

Kasumi began studying on a bench the calm breeze moving along her face. She looked around the park. Not many people were here. She looked over her books carefully. If I'm going to be a superhero then why am I reading. Kasumi examined everyone in the park. Man crimes have been slow lately. She fiddled with her book flipping to random pages. One of them being about Sea Cows. Kasumi decided the time she began to study sea cows would be the time a skyscraper blew up. Well let's not joke then I'd have to find out what happened.

Soon her cellphone rang, "Koinichiwa?" Kasumi said in Japenese. Being raised in a foreighn land for 10 years was fun, hearing about the flood is a bit heartbreaking. Maybe a man under the name of Floodman went crazy. "Hello Kasumi this is Cris Alloway." the man said. Cris Alloway was her boss, usually as a runner she got jobs to transport information of files, bags, cds, etc. She replied back, "What do you need Cris I'm studying." Kasumi lied a smile on her face. "Studying? About what?" he asked in a curious tone. "Sea cows." Kasumi nonchalantly said then her eyes widening afterward. 'Why did I say that?! she thought biting her lip. Cris continued, "Yes,.... well I have a job for you if your up for some extra cash." Kasumi nodded and verbally agreed, "Just tell me the place and I'll be there Cris." He told her the address while she wrote it down. She got her thing and put it in her bag. She began walking for the exit pausing midway, 'Is this really want to do all my life? Study sea cows and run information?' she shook her head and continued.

xxxxDahlia smiled to her new company as he explained his answer. She found the link a little stretched but made herself accept it. Her blue eyes followed him curiously as Kiy began to wander on. She questioned if she should go after him and as he began to speak once more, Dahlia quickly chased after him. Finding herself beside the metro-man, the girl let an answer slip past her lips, "Luther Hospital. I'm a nurse - in training that is. Someday, I want to be a doctor." Dahlia's eyes flickered off onto the falling sun. She hadn't thought of her career dream in quite some time so it was a lovely refresher for her.

Bringing her attention to Kiy, "So, how about you? Don't tell me something in photography." Dahlia lightly jested as she looked to him once more with a giddy smile playing on her lips. Hesitantly, Doll opened her mouth once more, "I don't know if it'd be rude or not, but, would you mind if I just called you Key? It seems more like you. Or... at least that's how I see it." The girl tilted her head to one side to look up at the man. She wasn't sure if her question was impolite as he had given her a name to use; however, Dahlia always liked to have her own spin on things.

"Photo-journalism"
laughing as he held up his camera, "I wonder how you knew that?" he asked sarcastically. It had been a while since he had just walked around taking pictures, things had been a little stressful lately, with the threatened suspension and low wage, so he didn't have as much free time as he wanted as he looked for supplementary income, more specifically as Power 3000.

Smith rubbed the back of his head and did a sort of half shrug when Doll asked about the name change "Uh, yeah thats cool". It wasn't like no one had ever asked if they could call him Key before, the name his father called him by before he did, but he never had really allowed anyone else to since his Dad's death. But you have to start somewhere, right?

A young girl wearing a summer dress and brown cowboy boots walked anxiously down one of the paths of the park. She wore big black sunglasses over her eyes, hoping to cover up her darting eyes from onlookers. All around her she could feel their presence; the spirits, staring at her. They all knew she was there, just like she knew they were all there. She didn't like them, and she didn't really think they liked her either. She just kept walking, trying to enjoy herself alone for once. Truly she was attempting to teach herself a lesson; learn to live with the spirits and hopefully they'll learn to live with her. It was not exactly going out as she planned, though; their lifeless eyes just pierced through her body, penetrating her mind. Whispers began to echo in her head, the thoughts and mimics of those departed, all standing around her. She covered her ears and began to walk faster, attempting to push them out of her mind and get some concentration. Nearly out of nowhere, though, she saw a man with a camera over near a young woman. Sighing a heavy sigh of relief she instantly took off in an awkward walk towards the man. She was trying to act casual, but her anxiously moving body and quickened pace seemed a bit strange. When she got within a few feet of the man she just stood there, looking down at her feet, her hands folded across her chest. She didn't say anything, focusing all her concentration on the spirits around her. Their whispers began to fade a bit the longer she stood there, until finally... they dispersed. A content smile came across her face, and she looked up finally to only realize what she had just done.

Audrey pushed her sunglasses up on her head, finally revealing her eyes. She looked anxiously from the man to the woman, and then back to the man. "I'm... sorry, please excuse me, I just need to use your camera," she said to him with a light smile, before shaking her head lightly to either side, waving her hands in front of her, "No, no, I mean... I just need to stand here near it. The spirits, they... they don't like cameras," she chuckled, biting her bottom lip, now fully realizing how weird she must seem to the man and woman. She looked to either side of her and then turned around. "I'm sorry. I'll just... just stand here, please excuse me for a few minutes, and I'll leave," she spoke somewhat rapidly, a tad embarrassed. She took in a deep breath and looked around her, seeing the spirits standing a good fifty feet from her, all looking at her. It made something in the pit of her stomach turn over. Lowering her sunglasses over her eyes, she turned back around and lowered her head to keep from looking at either the man, the woman, or the spirits. "Never mind, I'll just... yeah."

"running the game
xxxxxwhat am I saying?"

While waiting for a response out of Doll, a seemingly homeless crack-headed woman walked over to the duo and started rambling about spirits. Kiyoki could only stare with a blunt look on his face as the addict asked to borrow his $500 camera. Was she crazy as well as on drugs, he wondered as he thought about the chances of him getting rabies just from letting her touch the camera.

"Uhh, here" he shook his head disapprovingly at himself as he took out his wallet and pulled out 10 of the 15 crisp one dollar bills that he had just picked up from the bank. No wonder he was so broke, he kept letting strung out crack heads use all his money on drugs instead of buying his weekly supply of oddles of noodles. "Ain't no rest for the wicked and all that. . . " he smirked as he handed over the money in one hand and put his wallet back with the other, "but you know I have to ask, what 'brings you out here'?" he casually inquired about the shady woman's drug of choice.

Audrey slowly looked up at the man, watching him as he pulled out a couple bills and handed them to her. She looked at the bills and then back up to him, a look of confusion on her face. "Oh, no, sir. I'm sorry, I came about this in a strange way," She said with a weak smile, looking over her shoulder to see that the spirits were still there. She bit her bottom lip and turned back around, looking down for a bit before giving off an awkward laugh and looking up at him. "I hope this doesn't come off making me sound crazy, but... I'm out here trying to conquer my fears, I guess," she offered as an explanation for her actions, though after saying it Audrey realized quickly that her words made her sound... "slow". She sighed, popping her jaw and closing her eyes, before opening them back up again and looking at the man in the eyes. "Look, honestly? I'm being followed by ghosts. Spirits. premonitions. Whatever you want to call them. They won't leave me alone! So I came out here hoping to... learn to be around them, I suppose. I mean, if you can't beat them join them, right? Only I don't really want to be a spirit, I don't... particularly feel like dying at the moment... Anyway, I came over here because of your camera. You see, they're afraid of things like cameras and televisions. They think that they'll lock them away forever or something like that. So I apologize for the way this came about, I'm just... having a difficult time gathering the courage to accept my ability for what it is," she concluded with a sincere smile. A smile that showed she was proud of herself, namely for being able to finally explain herself and her situation to someone without feeling like a total idiot. Oh, I'm Audrey Ryder, by the way. Work at the local pool as a life guard and what not," Audrey offered with a smile, holding out her hand for a shake. If he was into that sort of thing.

and you can count on me like one two three.you had my heart inside of your hand and you played it to the beat
tuesdays tuesdays tues YOU’RE GONNA ⋮ W!SH YOU HAD » ♚ . ↷ ( NEVER MET ME. )

A tall and curvy, fit - to - be - a - supermodel figure emerged, a silhouette in the sunset. Dramatique. If only she were walking in slow motion. Locals called out to this the blonde beauty: "Hey, Adele!" and other casual greetings. Adele Grace Sullivan, actually a super - villain on Megalopolis's Most Wanted list ( called Grace ), was renowned as the stunning, bubbly, and well - rounded woman who took on the name Adele, daughter of a legend of a superhero: Master Mega. But no one knew that Grace and Adele were the same person. Adele and Grace had nothing to do with each other, according to Megalopolis. ( Besides the fact that they were both absolutely gorgeous. ) Adele was just here on a little walk.

The woman's features became recognizable as she sauntered closer to her new destination, now that she'd spotted it. She was adorned with a pale off - shoulder top, a pair of tight, ripped and faded, jean Bermuda shorts, and of course, her favorite pair of silver flats.

"Smith!" she called out vigorously to her childhood friend, a cheery smile laced across her lips. Adele additionally lifted a hand, giving him a classy wave.

Hmm. He was talking to another girl. The tall blonde braced herself, preparing herself for a friendly conversation, as the Adele Megalopolis perceived her to be. Adele had a soft spot for Kiyoki. She, Adele Sullivan, in actuality, was a rotten, sadistic b***h. But since she used to have feelings for her childhood friend, Adele holds hostile feelings towards everyone but Kiyoki. Basically, he's a special snowflake. Anyway, Adele acts every day of her life, pretending to be a wonderful, golden - hearted person, a person she was not, but someone she used to be.

"Hi," Adele spoke cheerfully as she neared the two. She glanced at Kiyoki, and then at Audrey. The girl gave Audrey a warm, friendly smile. She tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, which only gave off more of an innocent aura. "I'm Adele. Adele Sullivan. And you are ... ?"

The woman's brown eyes slid to Kiyoki. "You're not scaring her or anything, are you?" she teased playfully. After all, the atmosphere between the two had been odd when Adele approached them. A pondering thought darted through her, wondering what had happened.

"Uh, thats. . . good?" Smith replied to the crack head stranger, still a little weirded out by their peculiar introduction. Hell, for all he knew, she could really see ghosts, and in case she could, he wasn't trying to get haunted or something so he might as well act nice. Plus it wouldn't be the weirdest thing he's ever seen in Megalopolis, seeing how it was the muntant central this side of the atlantic ocean.

It might even be good to have her as an ally eventually, if she was indeed sober. Not that he would tell her about his power anytime soon. In fact, he found it just plain stupid on her part that she would go blabbing out in public that she had powers to complete strangers. Didn't she realize the dangers of saying something like that to someone? In Megaloplis there are people around every street corner willing to risk their lives manipulating other people's powers. "Yeah I'm Smith" he smirked as he shook her hand, still wary of the chance that Audrey might be a crazy person.

Just as he let go and was about to ask why she didn't just buy her own camera, Adele, Smith's long time friend ( and secret love interest ) appeared over the horizon. He did a quick wave back as she walked up and he wrapped his arms around her in a friendly hug. "No, I don't have a banana in my pocket" Smith joked as he let out a slight laugh and put his arm around his friends shoulders. "This is Doll and Audrey" he nodded at the two girls he had just meet. All three of the women were fairly attractive in their own way, and his slightly perverted mind couldn't help but think of what a great time they could all have in their birthday suits. Well a man can dream, can't he?

"So how ya been?"
he asked as he slid his hands into his back pockets and turned towards Adele, thinking of how much things have changed since their youth. He remembered the days when he could talk to her about anything, from girls to how he alone he felt with around parents, but since he's started having feelings for her, it has been hard for him to continue to interact with her with the fear of telling her about his undying love for her. Not to mention the fact that he can't tell her about his powers. Sure, ever since their Dads died and their Moms both abandoned them to survive in Megalopolis they've grown closer, but since her Mom walked out, she's become more and more of a virago. Although she isn't mean to him per se, it's a little difficult to put your trust into someone who will just as easily cus out a waiter as she is to give them an extra tip.

☯☁ Luciana ❦ ☆Tian Li ♬✦Alverstein
Known to all as...ϟPhoenixϟ
There is no such thing as a lost battle☮ There is only a loss of heart

A gust of wind blew past and trailing along after the breeze in a relaxed way, was a teenage Chinese girl wearing black leather gloves, ridiculously large gold hoop earrings, and a white jacket with brown fur on the hems that oddly clashed yet still matched with the rest of her outfit. Paddling leisurely along on a bicycle, Luciana Tian Li "Phoenix" Alverstein let go of the bike's handlebars and rode along, legs pumping in their skin tight jeans, with her gloved hands behind her head. She wasn't showing off, it was just the norm for her. One year ago, Phoenix would have thought the city of Megalopis something out of her younger brother's comic books, with its crime fighting super beings and the always eventful nights that brought robbers and villians. Now though, she had quite gotten adjusted to all this ruckus, and the abnormal had become the quite so ordinary no one thought about it anymore. The sun setting pushed a nervous trigger in Phoenix's brain. While she didn't need to be afraid as much as most ordinary citizens, Phoenix had never fared well in the dark. Cranking up her gear, she began to pedal twice as fast, hoping to reach the other side of the park-and her home-before the sun truly disappeared in the horizon.

Coming up the path, Phoenix couldn't help but notice that a small congregation of people had gathered, milling around aimlessly. With a grudging sigh, she slowed done, hoping that when they spotted her, they would have the common sense to back away and let her through. Seeing no indication of that happening within the next few seconds, Phoenix cast an observing eye over each of the four blocking her road home: Three girls and a guy with a camera on him. While they weren't unfamiliar faces-Phoenix had seen most of them wandering around town before-they were unfamiliar people. She had never gotten in a chat with any of the four, and knew next to nothing about who each one was and what was their deal.

A faint smile spread across the crease of Audrey's mouth as Smith told her his name. That was the first step in trust; revealing ones' identity to another. It was a fault of her own; trusting people too easily. Audrey did not truly do it on purpose. She just spoke and explained herself in such a manner that nearly everything about her was revealed within a matter of minutes. Opening her mouth to speak, she caught glance of a woman walking their way. She closed her lips back together and attempted to form a smile again as the woman drew closer to them.

"Hello," Audrey weakly returned to the woman, raising her arm slowly to wave lightly in response. Nodding lightly Audrey spoke: "Audrey Ryder. It's a pleasure to meet you, Adele," she offered with a sincere smile. Turning slightly to the side she watched Smith and Adele return a bit of conversation. Audrey chuckled lightly when Adele asked Smith if he was scaring her. "Oh no, I'm sure I'm scaring him quite a bit. By complete accident at that," Audrey chuckled, turning her gaze awkwardly from Adele, to Smith, and back to Adele.

It wasn't long after that Audrey noticed another woman coming towards them. She kept an eye on her, looking just out of the corner of her vision to make sure she was still there. The woman gave off a sort of aurora that didn't seem as friendly as the others; something that kept Audrey from wanting to reach out and introduce herself. In that regard she simply stood there and ignored the woman.
