Julian's hooves barely clicked against the pavement as he shifted his way through the city, ghost like. He wasn't supposed to be out right now; he wasn't exactly running away so much as he was taking a stroll. He'd been cooped up in his room for days, and just needed to get out and away. However, that meant asking Mercedes to call his nanny and at the moment, he didn't want to be bothered. Not by Mercedes, not by Mrs. CrumplePuff...not by anyone. He had a lot on his mind.

His brother's guardian had passed away months ago, and Julian hadn't seen Izzy since the funeral. He missed his twin, and hated the world for keeping them apart. He hated Mercedes for being such a stupid woman, with whatever plans she was trying to force upon him. He wanted to hate his nanny, but somehow just couldn't find it in himself to truly despise her. For now, he simply held her in contempt. Plus, there was this nagging feeling that something was missing in his life, and it went beyond his brother. There was something inside him that wasn't right; a pressure, something building...and he just didn't understand what it was. This, too, was driving him crazy.

So while out on this walk, he let his mind and his feet wander. He'd gone blocks and blocks away from home, and when he finally looked up is when he realized he didn't quite know where he was. Not anything completely terrifying, but it did make him uncomfortable. Especially because now he was going to have to actually talk with someone to find out where he was, and how to get back to where he needed to be.

Which is what he was doing now; walking about without actually getting himself more lost, trying to find someone he could ask. However, it was beyond the end of the day for most businesses...so right now, the streets were a little empty. Just Julian and his quiet footsteps, echoing down alleys.

Reshmi was a touch disappoint in the fare he'd gotten of late, nothing really interesting getting themselves caught in his web since the last spawn he'd captured for himself. Just mostly the normal thing he captured, that being humans. He was sitting up on the top of a fire escape, waiting for the sounds of footsteps as his web, hidden by the shadows in the alleyway waited as well.

When he heard those steps he did what he always did, a tried and true method for catching fools, he started to mimic the sound of a wounded animal, making it sound as though the creature were down the alleyway and in need of assistance. It was almost amusing how often he caught people with this trick, they apparently thought that they were doing good by following after the sound to save the poor, wounded animal... only to find themselves running headlong into one of his blood strand webs. Today wasn't going to be any different he was sure, he'd catch a human, get his meal, then toss it aside when he was full.

The sound of an injured animal, sounding somewhat like a cat, echoed through the alleyway that Julian was walking down, the beast would sound as though it were suffering, in need of aid, and soon. Without assistance it likely wouldn't make it...

He paused, but it wasn't because he heard anything. Rather, Jules was just trying to get his barrings; glancing around, looking down streets to try and see if anything looked familiar. As he stood, his one ear twitched then swiveled around quickly, the other following. Now he heard it, over and over, and slowly the boy turned to face the alley behind him. He tried to peer into the shadows, not exactly liking the idea of wandering down to inspect for whatever creature was crying.

Julian didn't like getting his hands dirty. That's what other people were for, servants and just the general working class. So, instead of taking off down the alley himself...he walked off. He'd be gone for a moment or two before he walked past the alley in the other direction, intent on finding someone, anyone, to go in there for him. He'd be back again, that's for sure, because there was no one around. His shoulders sagging, a sigh on his lips, he reluctantly picked his way past the garbage cans. Aside from the shifting of trash as he carefully moved it out of his way, Jules was silent, instead focusing on looking for this stupid thing.

He thought were he was putting his hand was safe, but he didn't see the red web. His strange fingers caught in the sticky thread, and immediately he recoiled as far as it would allow him. It clung, it stuck, it shook the rest of the web violently...and it drew Julian's attention. He leaned in to look...and nearly gasped. He recognized this thread, and suddenly whatever had been crying wasn't important anymore.
