 Night was coming.
Crow picked up his large head to survey the Down, an ear twitching this was and that as he sniffed cautiously. Satisfied after a moment, he went back to foraging, nosing along the grass for better flay. Of course, he never traveled very far from his hollow. Still, he was within easy reach of the Down, and often an over zealous kitten would wander a little too close, only to be called back by their marli. He ignored the concerned looks, the cautious sniffs in his direction; even the occasional visit from his own mother he brushed off quietly.
With his back turned to the warren, it took him a fair while to sense the presence approaching. Rustling of grass clued him in, and his dark red eyes snapped open and his back went rigid, his mind dashing to the worst of all situations. Spinning around quickly, his foot was raised to thump the soft earth before he could calm his nerves. Just another rabbit, and one he'd seen from time to time at that. Snorting angrily, he took a hop sideways, moving further away from the other male as he shoved his head back towards the grass, muscles still tense from the adrenaline.

 He could see Frith just over the horizon, setting now, casting the world in long and twisted shadows. All around him fellow rabbits were lifting their heads from grazing and talking amongst themselves, but soon they left for the warmth of their burrows and perhaps a storyteller's tall tale. Watching as they left, he noted the lone buck that had set himself apart from the others. The black buck was rather large, marking him as one of Althea's brood. Absentmindedly scratching an ear with his hind leg, he watched the world from his tilted perspective and pondered. He'd been an outskirter at the time, hadn't he? Sage thought hard to remember the homecoming for those that partook in the Raid. It was so long ago, he was having trouble recalling it correctly.
Shaking his head to finally rid himself of the blasted itch on the back of his ear, he stood tall and watched with curiosity. Perhaps he should say something? Looking around, he could see that they were fairly alone. True solitude was unheard of in a warren this large. He took a step closer to the lone buck, and finally wholly making up his mind, bounded closer until he was within speaking distance. At first the other male started, visibly alarmed. After a moment he calmed himself and promptly ignored Sage. The older buck watched all of this with an analytic eye, deciding to stay.
"Crow? It is Crow, isn't it?"
Sage wasn't completely sure now if that was his name, but it's what came to mind, and felt the most true. It had been a long time since last he'd seen this rabbit after all.

He didn't bother to turn to face the buck, instead opting to watch him sideways guardedly. Nodding in affirmation, he raised his head from the grass, flicking an ear dismissively.
"Yes. What do you want?"
His tone was gruff, he hadn't planned on company and to put it bluntly didn't want any. This was an interruption and Crow didn't care for it. Besides, what would he have to say that he hadn't already heard before?
