This situation was needing a little period of adjustment. Stormfall glanced to her stomach once again before shaking her head in disbelief. Her rounded belly caused a flutter of excitement to reign in her mind. She was with foal. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, she and Dichali were going to be parents.

The mare lipped at a few shoots of grass as she lay on her side. The idea of taking her foals to meet the Thunderbird Herd leader had been running rampant in her mind since she had known of her condition. She'd be able to show her mother at the same time but how would she find father again. He was a stallion of mystery and thus really hard to pin down. Maybe it was for the best that she waited until her children emerged from their baskets before making plans. And she'd have to discuss everything with Dichali as well. He was just as much a part of these foals lives as she was.

Hating the effort it took Stormfall slowly rose from her side and to her feet before she began to laboriously crop the grass in an effort to provide her children-to-be the nutrition that they needed.

It was with a fuller stomach from grazing that Stormfall began to muse about what her children might turn out looking like. As a member of the Thunderbird Herd she hoped that all of her children would be gifted with wings. If they didn't inherit wings there would be no love from other members of the herd. It was a tough love sort of world.

However no matter what the outcome would be Stormfall would love her children. Nothing could change that fact.

For now though the mare could only guess on what they would look like. Sighing softly Stormfall glanced into the distance before folding her wings tightly to her side. It was not useful to try and fly right now. She watched her companions flit around the clearing that she was in before lying back down. Soon she'd be grounded in more ways then one. Looking after her children while they sat in the safety of their baskets.

Nestled among the grass of the clearing she occupied Stormfall slept fitfully. With a gasp the mare woke up. The dream she'd had was terrifying. She had dreamed that the foals had been merely a figment of her imagination. Tilting her gaze back to view her rounded form brought reality crashing back down and she choked back a sob of happiness. She was still with foal.

Rising awkwardly to her feet Stormfall's chains jangled softly in the morning air. So many memories flitted through the mare's mind and her decision was made. She needed to understand the changes going through her body and for that she needed ... her mother. Cataclysm could help her make sense of the sensations that she was feeling.

Wordlessly calling her companions back to her Stormfall set off slowly for the path she'd found once before when she had met her grand sire. Flying would take the extra effort that she did not want to expend. So for now she'd walk. Her companions settled in underneath her wings as she started out on her journey home. Her only remorse was in the fact that she was leaving Dichali high and dry with her decision to return home. She'd see him again though when the foals came but right now she needed a mother's support and love.

A few days had passed and Stormfall had found the path home and once again taken the path that led to her mountain valley home. When she had entered the lands the first to greet her was none other than her mother Cataclysm. Mother and daughter reunited and Cataclysm learned of her situation. Stormfall had reassured her mother that her "partner" was indeed a winged Soquili and left it at that.

Now as she lay alone near the birthing grounds Stormfall wished that her children would make their appearance. She was still apprehensive of her impending delivery but her mother had explained what she would need to expect and Stormfall sighed restlessly. The foals inside her were active again and jostling the sides of her stomach from the inside. Their little kicks registered to the mare and she shifted to try and find a position that would calm them down. Glancing away from her the mare's sight lingered on the other members of the herd going about their daily lives.

How she wished Dichali could be here with her. She missed the blue stallion and renewed her vow to return to his side once the foals were old enough to travel.

Stormfall glanced at the three baskets that lay snug against her side. The birth had been a little difficult for the first-time mother - but the reward was much greater now as she looked out on her future family. The baskets all varied in coloration and Stormfall mused silently about them. The one that had her colors also seemed to have the markings from Dichali. Stormfall sighed. Perhaps that would be the foal to give to her partner as a thank you.

The second basket was strange indeed. The top half of the basket had her colors once again but the bottom half had colors that she'd associate with Dichali - truly a mix of both parents. It was the third basket that caught Stormfall's gaze the most.

Almost completely pale blue in color there were just the smallest hints of white in the mix and the rim on the basket had the smallest streak of purple. It was this basket that had never left the mare's gaze as she grazed or did other necessary activities. No matter what emerged from the baskets Stormfall would be proud of herself. For now.

Stormfall's wingtips twitched sporadically as the mare slept. It wasn't as deep as a sleep that was needed but Stormfall knew that something would happen soon. She was sure that the foals would be emerging soon and that brought the restlessness which plagued her. Blinking one eye open the mare once again checked on the baskets against her side before letting her eye close again. A nudge on her stomach had the mare opening both eyes this time as she felt vibrations from within the baskets. Getting to her feet the mare peered down at the baskets. All three seemed to be rocking back and forth. Was this it then? Were her children finally ready to emerge?

All three baskets now shook more violently. Cracks appeared through the wicker covering and soon widened to allow hooves to penetrate into the outside world. It was all over in a short period of time. All her children now lay sleeping in the sun and Stormfall nuzzled all three before feeling the lightness that came with bringing new life into the world. Checking each child Stormfall's pride grew. She had done her family line proud. All three children had wings. Her jubilation at the moment passed as she lay down near her children. Sleep would be hard to come by so she best grab what she could.
