Name: Philemon Menniadis
Race: Human
Stage: Witchling, he's more inclined to join the Ars Lilium later on.
Gender: male
Biography:
"Shared pain is lessened; shared joy, increased —thus do we refute entropy."
Philemon was the fourth son of a rather large family, totalling a number of seventeen members -including his twelve siblings, his parents and grandparents from his mother's side- living together under the same roof. He grew up never being alone in a home that was always bustling with activity; there was always something that needed to be done, someone to take care of, some problem to solve or some chore somebody didn't do and had to be passed on instead of trying to figure out who was the one that skipped it. Therefore, the way he was brought up prioritized being open, resilient, honest and required being able to step up and admit one's own mistakes so others wouldn't take the blame for you -or in turn, collectively take the blame for someone in order to have their back-. Being the eighth oldest -somewhere in the middle- forced quite enough responsibility on him and Phil had always been ready and willing to take everything on his shoulders, including chores that weren't his own to do, just so that he could be of assistance.
Living by the countryside he has learned to be in a certain way of life where nothing rushes nor it is rushed; however he finds everything to have 'a time of their own' during the day, neatly structured in a sense that everything fits perfectly and nothing gets neglected.
While growing up he was always protective of his younger siblings, and even more so of his older twin brother who, unlike him, was quick to act and almost never thought his actions through making himself into a constant worry for Phil. Although he always worried excessively Phil wasn't one to let his emotions to surface. On the contrary he simply did his best so that everyone would be happy. After a certain incident during which he was attacked and almost had his heart stolen by a Majin his brother became obsessed with protecting him in turn -as well as taking it all one step further and wanting to wipe all Majin off the face of the earth-, thing that Philemon found irrational and unneeded as well as exceedingly dangerous. To be able to keep an eye on him, as well as hone his own magic skills, Phil left with him for the Makai Academy as soon as he decided to enroll.
Despite almost being the victim of a Majin once he doesn't hate them, choosing to view their hunger for hearts as an instinctual force that drives them and cannot be overthrown rather than an innate desire for evil and wrongdoing. He sees them as creatures that deserve pity from the Witches rather than being hunted down, slaves to their hunger and unable to escape their 'cursed' -as he sees it- fate no matter what they do. If possible, he has vowed to never slay a Majin if he can get away with it, although that doesn't mean that he won't fight back in justified self-defence or protect others from the Majin by bringing harm upon them.
Random facts: Philemon's name is of Greek origin (Φιλήμων) its literal meaning is 'our friend'. He has a fraternal twin brother named Theofratus.
Philemon loves tofu but dislikes any other soy product with a passion.
Even though he dislikes heat and loves cold weather (including the rain, snow and hail) he gets easily cold so he's often sick during the winter.
Despite being a klutz -and often hurting himself in the process- he is actually quite adept at housework, be it cleaning, sweeping the floors, washing clothes and dishes or anything at all. It's also the only 'heavy' physical labour he can take without exhausting himself to the point of no return.
Phil also makes an excellent cook, but only when it comes to the simple dishes he has learned how to make. Don't expect to get hungry around him but don't hope for gourmet cuisine just yet. Maybe in ten years from now...
Personality: Philemon is a mellow, quiet guy who believes that sharing and caring come first and foremost. He enjoys making friends and conversing about any sort of matter at all, or simply hanging out and helping anyone who requires his assistance with solving their problems. Because he is always warm, kind and open-hearted he is easy to approach and befriend and its rare to see him turn someone down if they want to make his company. Phil, however open, is not really gullible however, even though he likes to see the good side of people unless they drag it out to ends not even he can overlook.
Other than being rather sociable, Phil is also fiercely determined and dedicated to his cause -a trait he shares with his more rash twin- and loyal, possibly to a fault with an additional sense of justice that is intolerable towards mean-spirited people that seek to hurt or take advantage of the weak and the innocent.
Although an overall good person as well as an attentive, diligent student, Philemon is not without his faults. First of all he is always filtering his thoughts and emotions before allowing the rest of the world to witness them so he won't come off as improper or accidentally hurt some body's feelings. That, when taken to extreme ends, may make him come off as unpassionate, dishonest, or distant and cold. He is also absolute in his mentality which allows little room for steering and changing his mind making him inflexible and blindly single-minded.
He also happens to be an incredible klutz, often hurting himself without even realizing it and in ways that are probably humanly impossible (tripping on nothing, turning and hitting his head on walls he didn't realize were there, managing to cut himself with practically anything and so on so forth)
Ability Concentration/Theme: Healing/Support, Phil is all for protecting the weak and nurturing the injured back to health, therefore he is most interested in learning magic that will help him do that.
Tea: Chain of Fate
In a nutshell: A 'healing' sort of magic that has to do with damage 'exchange'. In fact the main principle behind it is to transfer wounds from the user to a target and from a target to the user. It also slightly accelerates the natural healing process of the user's body.
Fatal injuries may be avoided -to some extent- by manipulating the magic so part of the damage dealt is directly dealt back at the moment the wounding occurs.
A single wound may not be shared between the user and another after it's been sustained unless the above principle applies; it may still be wholesomely transferred.
An already sustained fatal injury if moved to the user will remain fatal unless the body can cope with it due to its slightly accelerated healing.
Further accelerating the healing of the body is possible by excerting one's self, however it is a taxing procedure that recquires long periods of rest afterwards.
If overclocked, the above ability may cause harm to the user instead of being of any help. Despite healing the initial wounds it makes the body grow weak and weary and in extreme cases may also lead directly to one's death.
