There was far too much running through Dakota's mind. First, he had to deal with the fact that his shoulder was wounded; and though Dakota was not the type of wolf to show his pain or express it in any way, he was clearly limping and trying to hide it. Of course, the limping was unavoidable, as the gash had reopened and blood was lightly spilling from the open parts. It was a great thing, considering he had had it fixed up, then there was a fight with [Morrigan], and then [Shiva]. Then, he walked with [Fierce] a bit away from the others so he could speak to her privately. So rather than resting and allowing it to close up and heal like he should have been doing, the hardheaded wolf just continued doing things he shouldn't have been - even though, as alpha, they needed to be done. It was just a shame that it all was happening at once, rather than happening over an amount of time and allowing him to at least rest and heal up some before having to take care of things. But, even so, Dakota did whatever he needed to do and just disregarded the pain for now. Of course, later on he may just regret having to walk and open his wound, as well as cause himself more pain for the time that he was resting... but, for now he was ignoring it. The limp showed that the pain couldn't entirely be ignored, but he was doing the best he could.

Another problem on Dakota's mind was the lack of an alpha female. Now that [Morrigan] was gone (though he didn't know she was literally dead gone), he was needing to replace that rank. Of course, Dakota had the option to wait for [Morrigan] to make her way back up the ranks, but from the way the war was brewing in the midst, he did not want to look at that option. There were many possibilities in this pack, as it was filled with potential females who were all good picks. Of course, rather than picking one and just hoping it turned out for the best, Dakota would need to examine them all. A strong fae; one who could hold her own, and would not double cross him like his previous mate had. One that, when he chose to have pups, would produce strong, healthy cubs that would thrive and eventually take his place as alpha male. So, as said, he would need to examine each female; see their potential as becoming an alpha female... and hope for the best when he did pick the one he liked most. They would need to be vicious, strong, cunning, intelligent... all the things that [Morrigan] was before she turned her back on her mate. Oh, Dakota was bound to miss her... even though he'd never say.

By the time [Fierce] and Dakota were walking again, things had grown a bit silent. Not for long, of course, as [Fierce] took that silent moment for her own to speak about her gratefulness for his slight gratitude. One had to admit that Dakota was no where near the type of wolf to praise others or thank them, but when it came to his life or something seriously that important... well, he had no choice, now did he? If Dakota died, then that left [Atreyu] to step up as the alpha male; and considering there was no beta female whatsoever, he would rule alone and basically be in the same situation that Dakota was in right now. The beta male was not too fond of Dakota, as it was the same the other way around, but regardless, they could not deny the fact that the both of them were strong, willing wolves. They were ruthless, and held hardly any mercy to anything that breathed. And although they did bump heads quite a lot, the pair of males were probably the best options to rule as the leading males. The only problem was that they needed ruling females...

White ears perked momentarily as the scarred warrior beside him began to speak again. Dakota had only nodded lightly to her previous words, and now she was mentioning a hunting party. The alpha took a few moments to think on it as they walked - his limp growing a bit worse - before he spoke.
"That seems fine. Perhaps take a few of the other females out with you and put them to some use. Take Shiva and Anika, and anyone else you see fit." Lowering his ears momentarily, they soon perked back up as his blue eyes raised to see the den site not too far off... as well as the rest of the wolves that he had left there not too long ago. "You might want to find shelter soon, as the storm is bound to set in anytime now. The others will learn eventually. I'm going back to my den. If you need anything, you know where to find me." And with that, Dakota turned to walk toward his den.

Was it wrong that every time Calet looked into the beautiful duchess' eyes, he saw his late wife? That every time he felt his heart should be beating (if he were alive) rapidly because of Mo, he connected those feelings to the wonderful woman that he was married to oh so long ago? His wife had meant so much to him; she was his world. His son was just the same... both of them so beautiful. And when he had met his wife, it seemed as if everything around them had just stopped. She quickly became his interest, and then the love of his life. And hell, it seemed that it was going down that same exact road when it came to Moirai. He took interest in her long ago, and now here he was... trying to act it out. The shyness he had experienced all those centuries ago when meeting his wife was once again coming back, and he was unable to be so forward with Moirai. He was careful; considerate. He didn't want to frighten her with his advances if he had made any. The situation with Moirai was much harder, though... much, much more difficult.

Being such an older vampire, Calet was brought up on the idea that self-pleasure was wrong; it was sinful. Of course, considering he was a vampire, his entire race was considered 'sinful', but still. It was something that he had never tried. There was no porn, there was no masturbation, and there was no serious affection in public. People around him showed affection, yes. Kissing, hugs, holding hands - and that was all fine for him. He wouldn't mind any of that! But when it came down to people getting the dirty on in public; that's when his age set in. Pecks of kisses were good, but anything heavier than that was going beyond the limits that should never be crossed. It was his age, yes, but it was also the fact that he did not adapt well to such a change. It may have been 'okay' now to do some of those things... but for Calet, no. He would stand beside his strong morals until the day he died. Well... really died. Now, when it came to Moirai... that brought it into a whole other situation. She was a young, attractive woman that anybody would enjoy seeing do something sexual. Of course, he had no right in suggesting such a thing to her as it was sure to corrupt her innocence, but the man just couldn't help himself! Call him a pervert, if you will... but he just wanted to help her out and help her cease that burning feeling between her legs. He'll just say it was her fault for bringing it up.

Ahem. Moving on. A meeting was sure to come, of course, even if Calet was still hesitant. He had to lay down rules that she was unable to see him, nor was she able to hear his voice. Calet had a distinct tone with that of an accent (one that was pretty much British), and many people could pick him out of a crowd with just his voice. Of course, since Moirai and he were quite close in more than one way, she would likely be able to tell it was him if she thought really long and hard on it. Perhaps it was a good idea for him to say she wouldn't be able to hear him, then? That way, there would be no mishaps and no problems later on. And if she were to hear him that night, she may just make connections at that moment or even at a later date... and he wasn't ready to reveal himself to her like that. No... not yet. It was far too early.

The suggestions in her letter to being in the room with her were actually sounding quite nice. He was falling into it, liking the fact that she was willing to accept just him being near and taking her letter, or even dropping off one of his own while she was still there. It sounded quite pleasant, really, and he was very supportive about it in his next letter. It was something he was willing to do, and he even suggested to her about when to do it. Or... rather to just sit at her desk every night and wait for his return letter; or wait for her letter to be taken. Oh, the subject was just exciting, if not nerve wracking!

Something inside of Calet was telling him to stay; telling him not to leave her, even though his instincts were wanting him to go and feed. His mouth was craving the taste of blood, and his fangs were extending a little more just at the thought of it. And although he knew he needed to feed very soon, there was just something inside of him saying 'don't go'. He needed to stay; needed to be with Mo even for just a little bit longer. Whether it was to dance with her, to talk to her, or just sit there silently to comfort her... he needed to stay. But so far, he was not deciding on that. The craving to feed was far too strong right now, as he had smelled the scent of her blood through her skin. He had heard her veins pumping that thick, red liquid throughout her body, and he oh so badly wanted a taste of it. Wanted to smell the strong scent even more. Wanted to just bask in it; savor it. And that little fact was pushing him further and further away from Moirai, and closer to the door that would allow him to be free of this temptation. He could move into the kingdom's houses and take the life of someone there... or even travel to an outside town and take someone's life from out there. Whatever the choice was, though, Calet knew he needed to do it quickly.

Feeling the small wetness upon his hand, Calet's eyes closed tightly. He kept his lips against her forehead momentarily as he bringed on the inside. She was crying because of him; because he was leaving. It was true that Calet knew of her past - about her father leaving her before - but he had no idea that the poor girl was connecting this moment to such a tragic time in her life! If he had an idea of that, perhaps he would have forgotten about his need to feed and would just sit with her for days just to make sure that she was all right; that she wouldn't think he was like her father.. and would leave her forever. No, he couldn't allow her to think like that. But, for now, he had no idea that she was connecting such a thing. Not yet.

Calet had finally turned to head toward the door to leave. He reached the door, his hand going out onto the handle and ready to pull the lever to cause it to allow him to pull it open... until he heard his name. The vampire paused, only to feel small arms wrap around his waist. His jaw tensed. What was she doing? Was she about to beg him to stay? To not leave her for the moment? This... this was too much for him. His eyes closed tightly again, and he stood still for what seemed like forever until she finally let go. He heard her sobs still; her sniffles that were trying to cover up those tears. She apologized about her actions, and told him to come back tomorrow when she would be better. And without him even turning around, he heard her feet begin to walk across the floor and toward the opposite end of the room. What should he do? Stop her? Leave? Stand there to make sure she was okay before she disappeared on the other side of the door across the room? There were so many problems with this. He had to feed, but he knew that she needed him. And even though he hesitated on doing anything aside from just standing there for a few moments, he made up his mind quickly.

Turning, Calet cleared his throat lightly before speaking. "Moirai... Your Grace. Perhaps I could stay just a tad longer, at least until it becomes too late." The vampire's words were soft and caring, and it showed that he didn't want to hurt her, but he was willing to remain with her for the time being until he knew he absolutely had to leave. Which, in this case, would be dawn or until the craving grew far too strong for him to control. He was an older vampire, which meant he could go quite some time without feeding and was able to control his craving a hell of a lot more. But even for him, the craving grew too much at times. And that intensity was what caused him to lose his mind... which, neither of them needed that at the moment. So, for now, he would be sure to keep track of his needs for the night.

Stepping a few steps forward, Calet held out his arms lightly in offer to her that they could hug. "If... you don't mind, perhaps we could find something to do, yes? Maybe go for a stroll, or perhaps something along those lines? Old age brings many issues with it, and I do need to keep my legs going, you know." The teasing was sure to bring up the mood. He didn't want her to hurt, but he didn't want her to be upset that he was staying because she was crying. So, rather than dwelling on the fact that she had shed tears over his leaving, he was willing to change the subject and lighten the mood up. Just for her.
