All the LI's in Dragon Age 2 are bisexual ((Sebastian being the exception)) but I look at this more as Bioware not limiting players to romance a certain character with only one gender, not because the LI's just so happen to all be bisexual. So I was wondering what do the players think the LI's true sexuality would be. For me I don't really know, I'm pretty bad at guessing sexuality unless it's bluntly obvious. Like Isabela, she would obviously stay bisexual and Sebastian would stay straight.
So what are your thoughts?

Hmm, I've always thought of Anders as gay, for obvious reasons. Both times I've taken him as an LI, I've had a male Hawke, and I can't imagine him with a woman. And I agree with you about Isabela. That lady is pansexual. Merrill... I don't know, I have an easier time picturing her in a relationship with a woman, but he could go either way IMO. Fenris... XD He was most of my Hawkes' LI, and I still can't picture him in a romantic relationship with anyone period.

Maybe it's because she seems so... delicate.

And on top of that, she's emotionally all over the place. She needs someone nurturing and patient. Not that no men are, but male Hawke at least always comes off relatively gruff.

❥ ❥ ❥ ❥ ❥xxxxx I think Fenris follows Hawke around for a few reasons. He wants someone to help him. Not just for the obvious physical protection from hunters/Hadriana/Danarius. But also someone who he can depend on who won't abuse him. He can't figure out why he's still miserable now that he has his freedom. He hints at that a few times, but I don't know how well he really understands it. And once he has a chance to relax and stop fighting, it's worse because he's forced to confront those feelings. Either way, it's obvious that Hawke makes him feel safe both physically and emotionally. More importantly, Fenris doesn't know how to be independent yet. For all of his life that he can remember, he's just had to follow orders and live for somebody else. He's never had to make choices or lead his own life, and I think it's reasonably terrifying for him. And I think he'll get better with time, at least he will if Hawke supports him and encourages him to make decisions on his own and *wipes away a tear* be less dependent on him/her.
It's so cute too, because he follows Hawke around for a nearly decade trying to convince himself that he does so to repay his debt to Hawke and friends so his pride stays intact. But it's apparent even when he says it that he needs Hawke. >w< Poor puppy.
Either way, I don't think he's capable of an actually healthy relationship yet. Hopefully if they don't cut him from the next game, they'll give him some character development that doesn't involve him being possessed by spirits and turning evil.

I appreciate that anyone can romance most of the LIs this time around. Personally, I don't like playing female characters but neither do I like romancing them either. It was sad in DA:O your only choice was a whorish elf (still love Zevran) if your male character was gay but better one choice than none I guess. At least with the mods we got tons of additions for the PC version XD As for Sebastian I don't get why they made his straight other then him maybe being a traditionalist. After all, if he is only interested in a chaste marriage does it really matter? I suppose he could just...prefer females, but it doesn't make much sense to me. He's all I also second that Fenris isn't ready for a relationship. BOY HAS SOME ISSUES! Plus I'm totally a mage lover at heart (Anders ♥) and my Hawke WOULD be annoyed with his pissy attitude if he had a choice. I hope Anders shows up in game three, though I don't know if he will since one of the options was to kill him (I never did of course) XD It just seems a shame to leave it there. Has anyone read this thread at the forums? I'm fully on board with Gaider. "And the person who says that the only way to please them is to restrict options for others is, if you ask me, the one who deserves it least. And that's my opinion, expressed as politely as possible."

Hmm if you've seen the scenes with being both male and female Hawke you can see that the characters aren't really bisexual (aside from Isabela). If you take Anders for example ... if you are male Hawke, he is gay while if you have a female Hawke, he is heterosexual.
All in all, it is obviously done this way to give a fair choice to everyone. Which I thought was pretty awesome. Some players don't like playing the opposite sex characters so now they are free to romance whoever they desire without the restriction of gender in their way. It took awhile for video games to have gay relationships in them so find it's cool that Bioware took a stand and put all LIs available for everyone 3nodding .

Although I guess that's okay, the limitation gave Zevran a chance for some love since my females could never resist Alistair's charm. Quote: As for Sebastian I don't get why they made his straight other then him maybe being a traditionalist. After all, if he is only interested in a chaste marriage does it really matter? I suppose he could just...prefer females, but it doesn't make much sense to me. He's all I think him being with the Chantry also has to do with it, although I could be wrong, I've never heard the Chantry bash homosexuality. But it could also be the fact that he was a prince. A prince is suppose to marry a woman that becomes queen, marrying another man would complicate the balance of power. Even though Sebastian was never meant to rule I doubt this way of thinking wasn't passed on to him.

"I have not desire to enter the Fade, but I will go if you need me." A shining example of there relationship right there. The 'I need to repay my debt' thing makes me think of Misty and Ash. My bike! D': (Yep, I just compared Dragon Age and Pokemon. /shot) What I'd like to see is Fenris leaving Hawke for a bit. Maybe three to four years. I agree that he is in a less then healthy emotional state for the duration of Dragon Age 2 and that Hawke really dose help Fenris heal, but he needs to learn that he can stand on his own, for a time at least. Can't love some one until you love yourself as they say. For the Hawke's I've played that Romanced him I can't see them giving Fenris the chance to really grow as a person. Hawke may have the best of intentions but he/she wouldn't give Fen' the space he needed. Not really. Over protective big brother/sister is over protective.
No. I will not even entertain the idea of Fenris not showing up in the next game. Just. No. stressed Pshshshsh. If they try to pull an Anders with are Broody I will cry into a jar and mail it to Bioware. What spirit would it be? The spirit of Loyalty that turns into Jealousy? Hell, make him a werewolf while you're at it. Little Wolf, Werewolf. You see the connection. = ~ = ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇ ◆ ◇

❥ ❥ ❥ ❥ ❥xxxxx X3 Especially because afterwards he gets mad at you for bringing him. I reminded him that he offered to come with, and he changed the subject in a way that is so typical of him. Poor little emo man. But yeah. It was reasonable for him to be moody and all over the place emotionally in the last game, but I want to see some major character development in the future. Frankly, I'll be really disapointed if he's not in the next game (or any of the LI's for that matter) because (slight spoilers, I guess) Varric specifically said that your Hawke's LI stays with him/her. So I want them to be able to be companions or at least more than fanservicey cameo roles in the next game. Though I will be very very pissed if they turn him into another Anders. Dear Bioware: The point is to make the character develop more, not less!
About comparing DA to Pokemon: It's alright, that part makes me think of a part from Angel. XP

Unrelated thought: Why are there so few girl gamers? Probably because they just suck at video games. Couldn't have anything to do with every freaking video game treating women like very bouncy objects. Which leads me to my next point: This video game privileges straight male gamers slightly less than other games. This is an outrage! ):< P.S. Anders looked at my Hawke! I feel so dirty..." I really hope he's just trolling. 3
@Star: That's a good point! I was thinking about that, but I couldn't figure out how to phrase it. XP But yes, I agree that the characters aren't bisexual, just attracted to Hawke.

I wish they had been LI, but I do like that the majority are available for both sexes and I hope the trend continues in DA3.

No character really were "more" important than the others, well, if any, it was the 2 you cannot romance. If they go the same way as DA:O where the 2 most important NPCs were straight and that romancing them changed things, I think it just was a good motivation to replay the game. I mean, my elven male elf did leave with Morigan in witch hunt trough her mirror because he had kept the ring she gave him. And my female noble human rogue became queen. It made the story fits a lot better. Having choices for lelianna and Zevran was cool too. So to me it all dpewnds if it makes sense in the story.
