Ironforge was in a pretty good mood this morning - thus far Kale hadn't tormented him overly much in training and the herd was peaceful enough that he could spare the time needed to range a bit further then he normally did. While Ironforge liked to roam as a rule he hadn't found the time for it as of late, things had been far to busy...but today he had a bit more of an excuse.

Ironforge was hoping to run across a friend he had made on other trips outside the herd lands, he liked to keep an eye on the mare, she was far to good natured for her own good sometimes - at least as far as he was concerned - and he worried over her safety...so once in a while he liked to go out and check on her. Generally Prospector, his Wopletinger, accompanied him but the little creature had elected to stay behind so Ironforge was by himself as he trotted across the meadow the days gentle breeze sending ripples to his rather shaggy coat and the stallion found himself hoping it wouldn't turn out to be a ridiculously hot day.

Keely braced her front hoofs on the tree base. Trying to reach the apple, she stretched her neck. Though nothing seemed to work. She ploped her front hoofs back on the ground and humphed at the tree. She looked back at the apple with slited eyes "I'm gunna get you, so you better watch out!" She breathed out and looked at the branch. It didnt seem to be TOO high. She thought about it and shruged as she smiled.

She walked away, a little swing in her hips. After a little distance, she turned back to the tree and started running "Get ready, I'm coming for you!" She giggled and leaped for the apple. Getting a chunk of it in her mouth but not the whole thing. She was so miffed she forgot about the landing and rolled against the ground. Sitting up she winced. "Oww...." Looking down at her ankle she guessed she had twisted it. Glaring up at the apple she snorted peeved. "Just because you survived this time, doesnt mean I'm giving up!" She paused, resting, not wanting to stand on her ankle yet. "JUST YOU WAIT!"

Ironforge had made it nearly across the meadow when a familiar voice rang out from a nearby group of trees, altering his path the shaggy stallion headed in that direction. From the sounds of it Ironforge thought that he had found the mare he had been looking for and upon entering the trees was reward with confirmation, his gaze settling upon the striped unicorn, though seeing her laying down was a bit of an odd occurrence - the playful mare was generally not the type to sit around for long on such a nice day. Sometimes her nature made him feel old...but it was a nice difference from the more stoic and professional attitude that he normally dealt with.

"Morning Keely" He greeted the mare, following what looked to be an annoyed gaze into the tree only to see the apple with the bite gouged out of it. "Arguing with the apple tree again?"

Her glare turned from the tree to Ironforge. Though, when she realized who it was, her eyes lit up. She giggled "That darn tree! It never seems to want to give up." She looked back at the tree crossly "It would be easyer if you just gave up!" She sighed and shook her head "I swear, some things just dont know when to give up." Of course not realizing the same could be applied to her.

She paused and looked up at him from her position on the grass, blinking innocently. "How are you doing, Fílo?" He seemed to be a little farther from his herd then she remembered him being before. It hadent been long since their first meeting, and they had only met a few times since, but he always seemed to have a way to make her smile. And she enjoyed their random meetings.

FIlo..it was an odd nickname and yet having never before been given one with a nice meaning behind it Ironforge was strangely proud of it. "I have been well" He told the mare "My student has been following his training and makes great strides - I imagine he will be a great Knight someday" He told her, his voice affecting a proud tone as he spoke of his student. "And you? Have you been well?" He asked even as he eyed the apple she had been trying to retrieve.

With his greater height he reared up and used his horns to hook a couple of the apples, causing them to fall from the branch and bounce along the ground for her. "There you go" He told her cheerfully enough.

Keely's eyes turned soft as Ironforge talked of his student. "I'm sure he will do excellent with you as a teacher. What are you teaching him now-a-days?" Her eyes lighting up a little with curiosity as she watched him walk over to the tree and knock down a few apples.

Keely gasped happily "Thank you Filo!" Forgetting about her ankle in her giddyness, she hoped up to get the apples. But her ankle refused to be forgotten and made her plop right back down from pain. She glared at it, talking through tight lips "Just wait, once I get those apples, I'm keeping all the nutrition to myself and none for you." Stretching her neck to see if she could reach one of the apples and being only a few inches short of success.

"Well...he's learning...which I suppose is good for the time being, we've been working on tactics lately, many fights could be avoided if one approaches it from a different direction" He stated, preparing to go on and tell her more of the training he had been working on - including the latest obstacle he had made the stallion conquer when she stood and then fell again. Instantly the words died in his throat and he moved to her side, nudging the apples closer as he went.

"You never said you were injured!" He chastised her, nosing he ankle "Were you hurt badly?" He asked her.

Keely was listening to him speak after she grumbled at her leg. "Oh, goon, its nothing really."Giving him a little sheepish grin. "Its my ankles fault for not jumping high enough to reach the apple in the first place. This will teach it more motivation hopefully." She cringed a little as he touched her ankle and frowned at it.

"You really have no right to complain." She told her ankle "Its been such a long time since I've seen Filo and he was in such a good mood. Then you had to ruin it." She looked back at him "At least tell me a little about your student while you inspect my ankle." Pouting at him while giving puppy eyes. She seemed very adept at the expression.

Ironforge frowned at Keely slightly - she would of course tell him it was nothing, but leg injuries were nothing to sneeze at. He was uneasy about having her all the way out here and not being able to get away if something should happen. It was just another reason really for him to invite her back to the herd - as he had intended to do when he came out here.

Thankfully he didn't think her injury was to seroius, likely she just needed to rest for a while and take it easy for a couple days after that to ensure it healed properlu. Then again this was Keely he was talking about and the odds of getting her to rest for a lengthy period of time was quite small. "His name is Kaleidoscope" He started to tell her as he finished his inspection of the ankle. "I call him Kale however - you would like him I think, his hide is all the colors of a Rainbow, he's quite serious about becoming a Knight, at the very least he seems to take his training seriously. He should do a lot of good in the world." He concluded before pulling away.

"I think your Ankle will be fine - but you will need to rest it for a while, and to make sure you do..I'll stay here until your healed..and then..I..was kind of hoping you might come back to the herd with me, I don't like the thought of you out here all alone all the time.."

Keely listened intently. When he spoke, his words dulled the pain in her ankle. She would say it soothed her and he had healing powers of his own. Other, more reasonable soquili would probably have pointed out that he simply took her mind off the pain and let her concentrate on something else. Her smile widened when he spoke of the knight he was training. "He sounds marvelous, Filo." But she could'nt help but giggle at the nickname he had chosen for his apprentice.

"Kale? Like the cabbage?" She giggled fiercely under her breath "He must be quite the ornamental rainbow." As she looked deep into his eyes, she responded with a grin and "I think I very much would like to meet him. And if he as successful as you at rescuing damsels in distress, the world will be all the safer."

She thought her ankle felt better now, and tried to stand on it. It was then Ironforge mentioned staying with him. Her eyes went wide with shock and her breath got caught in her lungs. She was able to stare at him for a second before her knees gave in and she fell back to the ground. If any thing, she was almost glad she could blame it on her ankle and not have to admit he had just made her knees go weak. "Go with you? To your herd?" Her voice a little squeak as she said the last word. "Are you sure I wouldn't be a bother?" And at the next sentence she lowered her head and looked to the ground "Or in the way....."

Hey eyebrows knitted together when he mentioned staying with her. Her head raised so she could look him in the eyes "Filo, you can't stay away from your herd too long... They need you." Her eyes searching his expression, wondering if there was a way they could both be satisfied. She didn't want to keep him from the responsibility of his herd, and he didn't want her in danger by herself while she was injured, or any time.

Ironforge thought perhaps he had been to forward - he wasn't all that great with these types of things. The stallion knew this and it wouldn't be the first time that someone had taken what he said the wrong way. With the surprise in her voice when he answered and the way she fell to the ground to distract him Ironforge was absolutely positive that he'd read things wrong and she was going to turn him down...or laugh at him...or tell him to go jump off a cliff or something.

No Keely was to nice for most of those - she'd just find some polite joking way to tell him that she wasn't interested OR she'd think he was just asking her to come to his herd out of a sense of responsibility. Inwardly he huffed a little bit...why did everything to do with mares have to be so dreadfully hard? Why couldn't it be as clear cut as say...his Knightly Code. This is right and this is wrong - end of story. None of this extra hard to navigate grey situations. Clearing his throat he tried to restate his thoughts more clearly "The herd will be fine for a little while, Kale is there to keep an eye on things while I'm gone - but you see, I was rather hoping that well..you would..I mean that I would like it if.." This wasn't going well at all. For a grizzled old war vet he was quiet inept at getting his point across it seemed and that was just absurd in every fashion. Perhaps it would be better to just blurt it out all at once. "I was hoping that you would come back to the herd with me and stay..with me...forever" He clarified and then somewhat afraid that the mare might think he offered this becaue she was injured he rushed to finish "I meant to ask regardless...you just distracted me with the hurt ankle"

Keely could see every detail off Ironforge's muzzle as she sat on the ground, her ankle safely at her side. It was because of this angle that she saw his intent was true. That he wanted her with him because she lightened his life, not from some injury and she needed to be kept watch like some child. She felt like as though rainbows would burst from her throat as she giggled widely. She felt that her heart was growing so warm that it would burn through her chest and light the world a fire. But no matter what she felt, she knew she would never had turned him down, that she would have gone with him, just to be with him. But oh what a joy it was to know he wanted her there with him.

And yet he was still talking. She blinked some of the fog from her eyes and strained to make sense of his last sentence. Something about her not worrying about being hurt. Oh, was she hurt? She tilted her head and grinned at him. Softly she let her words bubble out. "I am injured?" She righted her head and stood slowly, ignoring the slight bite of pain at her ankle. As she stood, she slipped her head over his shoulder and nuzzled his neck. Whispering in his ear gently "everything in the world seems right to me."

Ironforge felt his heart twist with something other then bitterness and pain for the first time in a long time - it was true that just being with Keely made him forget about his past a great deal of the time but hearing her words and knowing that she would stay...well it was enough to make him remember that love and joy existed as well.

While others might not expect him to find love with such a mare, one who was,at times, almost more filly then the mare she truly was, Ironforge knew that he needed her - he had enough serious things in his life, enough fighters, enough difficult stubborn types..what he needed was something light and wonderful and cheerful and that was Keely through and through. Ironforge wasn't sure if he would ever be able be able to repay the mare for what she did for him just being being here..but he would try. He would try to make her happy, give her a good and safe life and all of his love. It was the best he could do and even he knew it wasn't nearly enough.

"My world sings because you are happy" He told Keely "As long as you are with me then even in the darkest of moments it will be so"

Keely continued to nuzzle her loves neck as he talked into her ear. She was almost surprised that the fighter she knew could whisper such beautiful poetry. Though, any thing he told her at the moment would have sounded just as lovely. Being with him is exactly what she needed at the moment. ever since she stopped living with Carlisle, she had been lonely. But Ironforge made her forget about that loneliness.

She nuzzled him slightly again before backing up to smile into his eyes. She tried to speak, but all that came out was a giggle. Clearing her throat, she gave him a little sheepish smile before trying again. "Do you think your herd will like me? I hope they don't mind me joining and starting a job in part of the herd." Her eyes went a little foggy thinking about it. "Now that I think about it... I don't even know what I could do."

Ironforge looked down at the mare by his side and gave her a warm look. It was hard to join a new herd, he knew that well enough but this was a good herd, filled with good Soquili and he knew that they would welcome her openly. "You need not worry about that." He assured her "They are a good herd and kind, I would not belong to anything else - I'm sure that they will be glad to have you."

Her question about what she could do in the herd made him pause for a moment as he considered. Of course in the end it wasn't up to what he thought she might be good at - it was what she herself wanted to do that mattered. "Well...do you have anything you would like to pursue? I'm sure that we can find a sport for you in the herd related to your interests...I can not think of any duty in the herd which wouldn't benefit from another pair of hooves helping out."
