Sara had been invited to have dinner with Mei's family. She had been spending so much time with Mei lately that she did not really remember life with out her, though at last her life felt like it was back on the right track. The days had been smooth and fun, she was living the childhood she had lost out on and that in itself made her happy to wake up every morning, she came to dinner wearing her usual robes however this visit she brought along a extra addition, held snugly in her belt was the prayer rod that her spirit guide had given her. The Blue Eclipse did not save her the night of the thief however she was getting better in using with with the help of her teachers. It had truly and firmly taken its place as her medium, the connection she had with Master Shinto was a strong one and she doubt she would be able to use it so well if the bond between them was weaker or in fact never existed.
She had met Mei's mother before briefly before when she was getting her Conduit robes made, she was a beautiful and kind women, however Mei's step father was someone that the teal haired Monglian did not know much off, when ever Mei spoke to her she always seemed to talk about her blood father instead so she did not really know what to expect. Though she presumed that he must be nice - after all what he seemed to do for them, especially taking Mei in even though she was not his blood daughter. She wondered how Mei would react to Hua, or better yet how she would react to Sara's real parents, they were very different from most of the residents of Lunaria. No doubt Sara herself was now very different from them, she took in a deep breathe and then stepped forward. For a moment her heart twinged, she wished she could see them. This was the first family meal she had taken part in since she came here, admittedly she was a little jealous of her friend at this point.
She came to the door and sat on the balcony outside, taking off her boots and placing them with the other shoes lined up, before looking in through the open door. "Hello? Mei?" She voiced out, her hands held together in front of her with her fingers knitted as always. When there was no answer she decided that it might be a good idea to check in the back garden, it is where she usually saw Mia hanging around, more so Sara herself loved to look upon the pretty Koi fish. It did not take her long to realise something was up, the soft smell of smoke massaged her nostrils. If she knew Mei, she knew that Mei plus smoke would not equal anything good. She stepped into the house and slowly made her way over to her friends room, she smell was coming from inside so she put her hand on the door and quickly opened it to make sure everything was alright. "Is everything okay?" She asked blinking a few times, the could see the mist collecting in the ceiling.

A’Meiya was in a good mood. More than good mood actually, she couldn’t even find the words to express how happy she was right now! Finally she was able to sit and have a meal prepared by her household for Sara, her best friend. The home smelt of sweetly cooked meats and fresh vegetables as Mei pranced about with fits of glee. Not even her brothers could catch her off guard today as they sat unhappily in their Sunday best waiting for company, their mothers stern warnings echoing in their minds as they grumbled and pulled faces at their step sister who pulled them right back. She was far to busy getting her home to glisten to concentrate on those two devil brats. Even as they sang their insults behind her, a reassuring voice telling to snap their tongues she was still smiling, fit to burst.
It wasn’t that Sara had never seen her home, quite the contrary she had visited on a number of occasion. She had seen her room, the garden, even the training dojo which Mei had ecstatically shown her on one of these many trips. But never had she been invited to break bread with the family, and that included her much absent Step Father! Sadly it had taken some serious convincing on A’Meiya’s behalf to let this dinner party take hold. Her mother although pleased she had made friends with someone so…so, normal was a huge relief! Yet the meeting of her Step father and Sara was always one in which her mother had flatly denied. And it wasn’t through lack of trying, or at the very least trying to understand her Ma’s motives for such an act. Yet she couldn’t get her head round it (and for Mei that wasn’t hard to do.)
“It is not that she isn’t welcome here A’Meiya. Sarangerel is a lovely girl, she has a wise head on young shoulders and I hear from the gossip of others that she will one day be a very talent Soul Conduit, one in which will do many great things for our nation in the future. But I do not feel a meeting of your father and she will go as well as you wish.”
To say that A’Meiya was shocked by this reaction was an understatement and she spent every trick up her sleeve till she gave in.
“ BUT Ma! Sara will be like the daughter Step-Father always wanted!” – “A’Meiya!” – “Its true! She is wonderful! So polite and strong and like you said she has wise shoulders on an old head! What can go wrong? Please Ma? Pllleeeeeaaaassssseeeeeee!!”
“Aiiie A’Meiya, what am I to do with you. A lady does squeal and stamp her feet for attention or demand! Yet…I see I will not win this way. Fine, invite your friend, the next cycle before high moon will be a pleasant time. Hopefully the calmer tides will have an effect on the evening. Just promise me A’Meiya….promise me you won’t be angry?”
It was then, as A’Meiya remembered, that she didn’t understand one word of what her mother was going on about. She almost felt like she knew something. But how could her Ma know something she didn’t! It was impossible! So she agreed without further protest. I mean, the only way she could get angry was if there wasn’t enough food. And that thought made her shudder.
As the rooms downstairs were being seen to by the housing staff Mei took herself up to her own room to make sure it was perfect. She had a plan. A plan that would hopefully bring a smile to Sara’s face and seal their friendship forever! Secret weapon? Incense. She knew from the other soldiers who had begrudgingly spoke to her that the stinky sticks was not just something to make your house smell funny, but it was a way to aid in meditation and relaxation, to help a budding Soul Conduit gain a calm and steady mind to work their magic. So what better way to celebrate Sara coming round for dinner & her progression into her next role than to fill her whole room with incense! 300 to be exact, in groups of twenty or more (she got a fantastic price if she brought them in packs of hundreds…she thinks)…although now as the last few were lit A’Meiya was having some serious seconds thoughts to having her door and window shut throughout all this. The curly flicks of smoke gathered fuel as the incensed burned down, the inevitable smog of grey gathering towards the ceiling as she stood there watching. When did it stop smoking? She had seen incense before but only a few wisps came off here and there, this looked like…well this looked like smoke from a fire. But that couldn’t possibly be happening could it?
As if broken from a trance the worried voice of Sara penetrated the mist and Mei realising she was about to loose the cover of surprised she had worked hard for! Pounding forward like an escaped goat she sprung from the smoke, arms out wide, face covered in greying soot and grinning like a fool she welcome her friend with a squeal!
“SARA!! WELCOME TO MY HOME! THESE ARE FOR YOU!!!” She pointed to the growing mass of smoke threatening to consume them all.

Sara looked at her surroundings with large eyes, she was so shocked she did not even hear what Mei screeched her way. All she saw was black smoke and a smell which was sweet but had underlying tones of burnt wood. Her lips started to twitch and her tanned skin went a deadly pale. Finally the quivering in her lips formed into words.
"Mei... there is fire..."
"Mei... fire!"
"MEI YOUR ROOM IS ON FIRE!"
The first time she spoke she sounded like she was in disbelief, muttering it to herself to try to make sense of what was happening. Then when she finally realised she had to do something her words were loud and alerting.
She pulled the little one outside surprised the poor dear had not suffocated due to the fumes. 'For the love of the spirits, is one calm meeting too much to ask for, I came over for a meal and now I am a fire-fighter? Oh the God's must have had quite a giggle thinking up this one.' She though to herself whilst trying to work out a solution to the problem at hand. Though in the panic she could not think straight, the smoke creeping out into the hall did enough to but her concentration in the non-existent category. It was like she was enchanted by the dance, as if the smoke was charming her like a snake.
"Oh no, erm, ahh. Mei get some water! Quick. No time to talk just do."
She commanded pushing her egarly to get her backside into gear before there was no longer a house for her to visit. She then ran into the room, opening the windows at the other side and hastally trying to waft the smoke out of it, letting out a few coughs. She was not scared of the flames, luckily enough she had gotten here pretty soon so there was only small flickers of light coming from one corner, the scented mist started to disperse out the window and door, all was left for Mei to do was put out the small flames.
She must be capable of that.

A’Meiya was still posed in surprise mode, arms out stretched and giant toothy grin were all in place for the lavish thanks that were surly to follow, once the shock died down of course, yet…it didn’t come. If anything the shock remained and she seemed positively terrified at this gesture. Mei had to admit she felt a little hurt. The student listened to Sara’s shouts of protest as the girl placed both hands on her hips and shook her head in denial, her eyes firmly closed.
“Not fire Sara, Incense! Jasmine and Dragon Root!” She opened her eyes slowly still oblivious to the gathering fumes behind her. “You don’t like that flavour do you? Oh I knew I should have got the turtle flower and exotic spice but I was like, Sara wont like turtle…wait…no eait...its the turtle one you do like! Oh dam, oh flip, oh #@^%$!!” The following sentence can only be described as the gutter of sailor talk as A’Meiya crossed her arms and huffed, an unmistakable tantrum mere inches away if it wasn’t for her turning from Sara to look back into her bedroom. It was then that the penny did drop.
“What is with all this smoke? Oh…oh that’s why you were shouting fire I get it now because there is a fire….fire? OH A FIRE!! SARA!” The student ran back to the safety of her friends form before being hushed out into the corridor as soon as she made contact. The lasting words of orders ringing in her mind as she ran down and out to the pond. Mei didn’t do sensible, she just heard the word water and ran for the place she knew there were loads. Grabbing a bucket she sprinted back to the house as if the flames were licking at her heels all the while her high pitched squeal rang through the rooms. No body gave a second look as she moved past them sloshing water this way and that, not even the new house servant who had been advised, don’t get too close to the Quan girl. Advise well listened too.
“SARA! SARA! I HAVE THE WATER! I HAVE THE UFF!-” it was only to be expected from Mei of all people, her guardian angel was obvious a mischievous spirit of the worst scale and as her foot caught underneath the pale rug A’Meiya knew it too. Landing with an audible thud the bucket fell from her fingers as they clawed to get a grip but it was no use. The water went everywhere.

Sara's eyes sparkled with joy as Mei came closer with the water, however when she fell it soon dulled, why was life never easy? She looked forwards the small flames and tried to think of a way around it. She grabbed the curtains and with a good tug pulled them from the wall, throwing the cloth over the flames and then stamping on them with her foot. Suffocating them and generally beating them until they went out, with one last grind of her toes the drama was over. "Phew..." She let out a relieved sigh and then her jewel like eyes went over to Mei.
She wondered over and knelled down in front of her, leaning her hand forward to ruffle her salmon hair before pulling her into a small hug. Maybe it was all the time she was spending with Yue but she had slowly got used to the idea of being physical with people, in truth she liked the hugs. "Your room is going to smell amazing for the next couple of days Mei. The thought was wonderful, though next time maybe I can show you how to light it safely, after dinner yes?" She would not want Mei to hurt herself doing something like this again, she might do some stupid things but she was a fast learner and if she was told she would never make the same one twice.
"We light it calm the evil spirits, when the spirits are calm they are more likely to talk to you." She stated, the temple always smelt beautiful and the small mists which hovered near the roof were so addicting to watch, it gave off such a magical feel but then again she guessed it was meant to. "Hmm, your room is a little messy. Why don't we clean it up, clean up ourselves and then we will go to dinner. Don't worry your parents wont know a thing. It will be our little secret." She tapped her friend on the nose gently with a small smile. She knew how upset Mei could get over little things like this and she wanted to keep a smile on her face. She always liked to help her stand back up after she made her mistakes, growing up she never had a friend to fall back on so she wanted to be there for her. To keep her close. The teal haired Lunarian stood up, grabbing her friend by the arm and pulling her up with her.

Watching her friend work from ground level was painful. Her chin had hit the ground hard and if anything she was positive that she was now missing a tongue! How was she going to eat! The familiar pools of water started to form in the corners of her eyes as she viewed Sara expertly covered the incense sticks with cloths expelling the remainder of the smog with a quick flick. Although the room had edgings of smoke still it was a hundred times better and the open window was making quick work of the rest.
"Do-owey...I dink i bithh ma dongue...*" she mumbled as Sara bent down to hug the girl. She liked hugs too, she normally got them a lot from strangers who thought she wasn't all there and just a cute commodity. But she didn't mind and fell into the hug with a squeeze of her own.
"Doh de-evil dings here*!" she exclaimed looking around with worried eyes. She had never seen a demon before, or a ghost for that matter but with the sudden mention she was sure she could see things moving in the shadows....or it was just more smoke. But either way she clung to Sara's clothes like a safety blanket while she helped her up her head nodding at the suggestion to get cleaned up. Anything to get out of this haunted room!
Pointing a hand she made her way to their wash room, a large bucket of water was already on heat from the house servants doing and Mei helped herself with a smaller bowel for the two of them to share. Her face was more or less pitch black with soot and grime...Sara may be pressed to wonder if all of it came from the incense smoke and not just Mei being well...Mei!
"Here dyou go*!" She smiled as she dipped the end of a cloth into the warm water and handed it to he friend. She had only been in the room seconds compared to Mei but her face still carried the sheen of muck and when taken the Lunarian grinned happily as she started the workings of cleaning her own face.
"♫ Sqwub, sqwub, sqwub ♪...Hmm....Sd-dara..dy-you do dnown dat ma Sss-tep Dat-ter is coming dour did-der dont dy-you?"* Her face potrayed all the worry in her words even if her tongue failed to produce it.
*1: "Sorry I think i bite my tongue* 2: "NO evil things here!" 3: Here you go!" 4: "Scrun, svrub scrub..Hmm... Sara you do known that my step father is coming for dinner dont you?"

She was always so easy to scare, she wondered how Mei would react to some of the ghost stories that she could tell her, or to the news that Sara herself had seem a demon. Her fight with the angry spirit was many months behind her now and all the marks the beast left on her body was long gone. She had not seen Sakn in what seemed like forever and thinking about it she wished to be in his company soon. It might seem odd that the two became friends even though it was his own hands that were around her neck trying to squeeze the life from her. Even though it was her own hands that sent the blade piercing through his torso, it was a strange time and they both had come to accept each other after the spirit was expelled from his body. "There is no evil here Mei, if there was I would know and I would happily get rid of them for you." Sara always wanted to make Mei feel safe, so sometimes she made out her powers to be greater than they were in order to do so. She could not sense any spirits in this house however even if she did she would not know where to begin getting rid of them. That was a lesson she would learn as a soul conduit, no doubt it was a lot different than the magic she preformed on Sakn.
Mei soon escaped from the Mongolians arms and brought back some water, Sara smiled and leaned down grabbing a cloth and gently dabbing her face. She then turned her attention to Mei and whipped a bit of dirt off of her nose playfully. Mei was always so cute, especially when she was all flustered like she was now. Sara herself was surprised that she was able to understand her friend at the moment, though after having to follow so many high pitched and squeaky conversations she was sure she would be able to follow everything that she said no matter the circumstances.
She tilted her head and went back to dabbing her neck and chest as Mei mentioned her step-father. "I would have guessed, it will be interesting to meet him. What is he like?" Mei had mentioned him once or twice however she never really went into any great detail about his temperament or personality. It was always her real father that she refereed to.

The question wasn't one that Mei wanted to answer. Although she felt that she could tell Sara anything her Step-father was one of those things she wished she never had to explain. The wipe of her nose brought a small smile to her lips as she looked over at her friend, her eyes betraying more of her worry than her words.
"Di is...Di is a dery powaful man..." Her tongue still hurt but her words were starting to become clear as she explained her mentioning of him. "Di is not always dere. But di is always a dpresence....dyou may not like dim Sara." She twisted the rag between her two hands, the anxious playings of a worried student turning the fibre till it seemed to split in retaliation. Even if she couldn't explain it her actions told a far deeper story of a girl who was afraid of her Step-Father.
"Bdut dont worry as long as dyou'ore not dwone of dose smeddy Dgion-" "Miss A'Meiya! Miss Sarangeril! What have you...what is this!"
The maid stood shocked at the door way, two slightly soot-covered girls before her with a room still misty from smoke, the over powering smell of incense burning her nose. She looked down at her Mistresses child and was unsurprised to see her grinning back at her. All of this was hardly surprising.
"Miss A'Meiya! Your mother...what will your mother say! I mean, I..I!" Her own words will stalled before they had the chance to be uttered There was no point in this protest. This was Mei after all. "I, I...I will send for someone to clean this, this mess! OH what will I do with you A'Meiya!" Her scolding was firm but one that had already admitted defeat. It didnt help that A'Meiya made no attempt to explain herself or even apologise. She just sat there grinning as if that was all the explanation needed. The young girl dressed in simple but expensive attire shook her head slowly, her hair tied back tight as if her skin needed to be pulled and slowly bowed, she had been sent up her for a reason after all.
"Miss A'Meiya, Miss Sarangeril you have been requestion by the Lord and Lady of the house to join them downstairs. Please, prepare for dinner and join them as soon as possible." The maid returned to her normal height and with another worried shake of her head returned to whence she came, muttering small curses under her breath.
"Dtood time! Yay!"
* 1." He is...he is a very powerful man..." 2: "He is not always here. But he is always a presence...you may not like him Sara" 3: "But dont worry, as long as you're not one of those smelly Legion-" 4: "Food time! Yay!"

(( Because God help me girl. I am dragging you back into the shop if you like it or not! ))
She paused with a small smile as Mei ranted on about her father, she seemed to complain about him almost as she did her opposing fraction. "It takes a lot for me not to like a person." Sara chuckled, shaking her head as she watched her get dressed. Is this was the only disaster that happened today, Sara would be grateful, it seemed like something always messed up the girls plans.
She wondered over and started messing with her rosy strands of hair, trying her best to get them just right. Mei looked like such a elegant and sweet little girl... until she opened her mouth, but alas that was the thing that Sara loved about her. You would never friend a Noble heiress who loved food and dirt quite as much as little Mei.
Though the teal haired girl was quite worried that she was able to understand her, even when she was talking gibberish like she was now. The Mei who had bitten her tongue sounded a lot like the Mei who had ate too much hot food. Through her excited rants, one word was still as clear as it had always been, she knew it would be wrong to keep it a secret from her any longer. Sara did not care what side Mei was on and it had never even occurred to her that Mei might, after all they were friends. Right?
She counted downwards from ten to gain her courage, and then opened her mouth. "Actually Mei." She started, clearing her throat in a moment of hesitation. Though a part of her wanting to stop right now, she knew that it was too late now, she might as well finish what she started. "I am one of those smelly Legionaries you are always complaining about." The words, did not come out as she had expected them to but at least it was out. She was expecting a huge weight to lift of her shoulders but instead the air felt really thick for some odd reason.
She looked down at her friend and paused, feeling somewhat awkward.
