Simon, or jekel as he prefered to be called, gave a huff as he was dropped off in the child's section of the large library. "BUT-"
he was immediatly cut short by several "Shh!"s flying his direction. He settled in to cross his arms with a glare.

Bree gave a light growl, putting her hand son her hips as she whispered harshly to the boy "Don't start this. You are in so much trouble from the toehr night it's not even funny."

This seemed to make the boy cower a bit.

"Now. I'll just be a few minutes... They got a new book in on ancient artifacts. It's reference so i have to read it here..." her mood automatically lightened at the thought. "Just stay here and ..." she heaved a sigh, turning to walk off "Just behaive yourself for once."

Jekel snorted, watching the woman walk off. Why'd he have to be here? Stupid books. Stupid Bree. He pouted, walking along idly running his fingers along the rows of books.

Harper had been in a completely different situation.

She'd actually had to talk Noyama into bringing her. Believe it or not, her guardian still couldn't read English. How stupid. Toddler or not, Harper had more than enough logic to realize someone who couldn't read at all wasn't capable of teaching her to read better.

But the teenager had left to go buy some well needed groceries, leaving the hawk girl alone and content at one of the 'kiddie' tables. Picture book? Psh, yeah right.

It had pictures in it, but she was more interested in the words. And someone had disrupted that interest with their footsteps. Yellow eyes located the source fairly quick. Hm...

A few seconds later, the winged-girl dressed in all yellow tugged on the shirt of Jekel. "Excuse me, what are you?"

He paused, jerked from his irritated thoughts of random things and how stupid they were. He looked to the girl, slightly shorter than him. His tail gave a shift, dragging across the carpet.

He grinned a bit, "A tiger shark." he puffed out his chest some, quite proud of his DNA. Afterall.. Sharks were known by like.. everyone! And in a fearful sort of way.

Everyone but Harper, who responded with a simple, "Oh."

In reality, she did know what they were. Quite honestly they seemed a bit mindless to her. Didn't they bite things to figure out what they were? Ew, what if he tried to bite her?

She was smart for her age, but still her age, and it took a lot to resist sticking her tounge out and making a face at the thought of having her leg ripped off or some such.

"Can you read?"

His ego deflated the slightest, losing his puffedness, and returning to his annoid looking state.
He liked attention, moreso the negative... But none at all just made him.. bored. In a sense.

"Course I can." he replied smugly, he did know his alphabit... and.. HOW to read. Wether he knew what all the words were or not was another story. But he wouldn't go into that.

Harper quirked an eyebrow. My, my, someone was mighty confident in themselves. Perhaps egocentric was a better word, though admittedly she didn't fully grasp the meaning of that yet. "Oh," she echoed.

She returned to the table, setting the book she held currently down in order to swap it with another before returning to where she'd been standing. "Can you read this?" the bird questioned.

The book was simply full of childrens stories, but it was understandable Harper couldn't read it since it was nearly twice her grade level (or something?).

Jekel took the book, resting it in one hand he flipped through it. It didn't look too hard.
He snapped it shut, moving over to the table she'd stored her books at. "Sure." He grabbed the child sized chair, spinning it around so he could sit without his tail getting hurt. Though originally it had been for his tails sake, it was also rather cool looking. Woo for bonus points.

He flipped the book back open, eyeing the first page while he waited for the yougner child to sit down. Atleast he'd have something to do while Bree was reading her book in her "few minutes."

That meant he'd be here practically all day.

One of her sisters had told her Harper was 'just creepy' and that she should act more her age. Mind you, that same sister had tried to stab her, too, so the hawk didn't hold her opinion particularly high.

The toddler strolled over to the table and pulled her chair out, sat down, scooted back in and folded her hands on the table, gazing at the other patiently. The cover of the book had appeared boring, but she'd heard some older children saying they liked it.

((*grabs one of her old books XD* ))

Jekel eyed the pictures a moment, some dinosaurs or somesuch. He reconized a few. But unable to name them.

"It had been a bad year at school for boland. He was down to three friends. Terry, Ste.go. And Stel...la." He shifted a bit, stumbling on the names.
"They did not even have enough players for a mean game of soccer. Almost everybody else had joined the swamp gang. The leader was Boland's worst ememy, who was none other than..." He paused to turn the page.

And as he said, he could read... He seemed to be doing well infact. Though he was more focused on reading the words than adding any sort of pitch to them, they came out sort of monotone and awkward. They were still being read.

It was a bit creepy if you took her age into account again. Harper seemed to be observing him more than actually listening to what he was saying. Interesting...

Not the book, mind you, this story was incrediablely boring. Dinosaurs playing soccer? As if. "Thank you," she offered when he was finished, unfolding her hands. "I have another question. You're with those D-Corp people, too, aren't you? Is your dragon here yet?"

Jekel dropped the book letting it hit the small children's table with a slap. He nodded to the first question. "Yea, i am." Easily assuming she was as well.

Then.. the next he just paused. Locking eyes at the book. After his previous acts it would see out of character for him not to take that opportunity to brag about how great it was.
The fact he became very silent when adressed about his egg befuddled his caretaker as well. "Y..yea it is." he responded shortly, crossing his amrs tightly across his chest.

Maybe he was worried about it, maybe he actually had figured out what a huge responcibility he was about to take on without anyone telling him. Maybe he just didn't like the idea of getting too close to something to "bond."

There were alot of guesses, who knew what was going on in the boys mind.

It wasn't the reaction Harper had been expecting, truth be told. She had been expecting him to brag, and brag a lot. When he didn't, she tilted her head and wrinkled her sharp nose back. Hm... Big kids were weird.

"That's very interesting," she commented, just to break the silence. "I'm very interested, as well, in getting my own someday."

He gave a tiny nod, eyes trailing across the various children's books infront of him. They were all so colorful and full of good morals. None of these were the kind of stories he liked.

He gave a tiny frown to the books, standing up all of a sudden. "I'm going to go find some good ones. Maybe something on dragons eating people or.. whatever." givign a tiny huff he went back to the books, running his sandpapered fingers across their spines.
No... no. No.
All too young. He turned the corner, watching as the books went up in age. Until his fingers landed on a leather covered book, it was fairly thick. He plucked it from its spot, thumbing through the pages. His eyes trailed over alot of vocabulary he didn't know until the page turned, reveiling a fairly detailed picture of a dragon attacking a man. Biting through the knight's shiney plate armor.

Jekel smiled a bit in victory. This was more like it... Something useful perhaps.

He came back around the corner, returning to the seat with a jagged grin, showing off the varios teeth that screamed for braces. "Here we go. It's a book on fairie tales! Dragons and all sorts."

Being one of the strangest of her kind Harper had meant so far, and being not the slightest bit shy or shameful, she stared at him thoughtfully as he looked the books over. When he was out of her view, she watched where he'd last been seen until he came back.

For some reason, she was a bit surprised he'd sat down again. Without asking permission, she reached over the table (something she rarely did, it was rude) and grabbed the book, sliding back into her seat.

Her eyes blinked a few times, seeming confused by something. "I think you have it wrong," she said, turning the page and glancing over all the pictures.

Jekel frowned, leaning over the table to peer at the upside down picture.. mermaids? Faeries? bah.

"Well. there was one in there with dragons." he tried to defend his pride... However it failed and he knew it. He huffed and fell back into his seat. "Want me to read it or not?" His arms crossed in a childish mannor.
