Eleos was having a pretty good day so far, none of the more ill tempered members of her mothers pack had come around to ruin her good mood and so she'd been able to hum and sing her way through the days activities in good spirits. She honestly couldn't the point of spending your day in a cranky temper - it seemed like such a drag, and there were better ways to get what one wanted from the packs workers. Eleos firmly believed in the sugar over vinegar method of handling the packs slaves and while she would never dream of telling her mother or any of her sisters she had actually become quite fond of several of them. fond enough that she went out of her way to say hello to them when she spotted them at work.

She might have lended a paw to help them with their chores but several such attempts had ended with highly embarrassed or flustered slaves so she'd stopped - it seemed that when a sister stepped in to help them they thought they weren't doing a good job and got upset, since Eleos hated upsetting others it had been a good reason to merely give them a few happy words rather then some help.

Today she had finished making her rounds and was heading back to the more central den location with a cheery bounce to her step and a tune on her lips. perhaps when she got back a nice meal would be waiting or perhaps her father would be around - he always had interesting stories to tell her. in any case she was sure she would be able ot find something pleasant to do with the rest of her time.

Ever dutiful, Perdicas was busying himself with the plethora of daily chores that the slaves of the pack must preform. He was much like his father in that way, always ready to help, did what was commanded of him and unless something new was thrown at him as in the same place, at the same time, doing the same chore each and every day. The routine was calming to him, knowing that there was always something for him to do, it was when something interrupted that routine that he became flustered. Today had been smooth so far. He woke up, stretched and immediately set to work.

Clean the den. Check. Remove remnants of old kill. Check. Ensure that the training grounds were litter free so the Sisters could train properly and uninterrupted. Check. He was in his element. Currently he was dragging some large branches across the pack lands so that they were not blocking any of the main paths. So intent on his work that he failed to see or hear Eleos until he bumped into her. Letting out a yelp of surprise Perdicas spun around to see in who's way he had gotten in. Oh my god it was one of the queen's daughters. "A thousand apologies Sister." His tail was tucked so tightly between his back legs that it looked as though he had none at all, ears laid flat against his skull and he dropped down into a submissive pose too afraid to look up and see just which of the five daughters it was. "I was not looking where I was going." He said in a somewhat shaky voice.

Eleos realized she should have called out to the slave when he failed to see her and actually bumped into her - it was embarrassing really - that she was so accustomed to them noticing her and moving out of her way that the thought of calling out hadn't even crossed her mind until afterwards. She'd simply expected him to notice her approach and move accordingly.

And now the poor wolf looked so distraught that Eleos felt bad, she recognized the wolf as one of Iosef's sons but she wasn't sure exactly which one it was since he'd had twins and the two were close together that Eleos was generally afraid to speak to them by name for fear of mixing them up and looking silly - or hurting one of their feelings. She knew that they were quite different in temperament but again she could never recall which was which. "No need to apologize" She quickly assured him "I should have called out to let you know I was behind you"

Perdicas' eyes looked up a bit, to about knee height of Eleos as she spoke. He knew she wasn't the Princess, as Orithia has a lighter color to her and he had seen her not long before this incident busy with her mother. It certainly wasn't Enyo, for that daughter was probably among the gruffest of the five. Her kind voice told him it was Eleos, though without being able to actually look at her face to confirm this he was left at merely calling her Sister.

"No...no Sister. I was not looking where I was going. I should have looked to see if anyone was on this path before crossing it." He had been trying to get that branch of out the way, and it required a lot more concentration than carrying a small stick. It was large, but not so much that he couldn't do the work, it just impeded his ability to look around without stopped every few steps. "Forgive me I did not mean to bump into you like that. Are...are you hurt?" Oh he would never forgive himself if he hurt one of the Queen's daughters and likely she would never forgive him as well.

Eleo's knew that it would be completely pointless to keep telling him that the accident had been partially her fault as well and continued insistence of that fact would just lead to larger and larger apologies on his part. Sometimes it was just easier to let them think they were at fault - even if she did feel bad about it.

"Hurt?" She questioned the male with a slightly quizzical expression "No..no it was just a little bump, nothing that could cause injury" She told him, maybe she would have been hurt if he had whacked her with that big branch he was attempting to drag across the path but getting bumped by him hadn't done anything more then startle her. he was lucky thought that it had been her whom had come across the path rather then say Varia or Thaleia or Enyo..any of those three would have torn his ear off for such thing. "Are you able to drag that large branch all by yourself?" It looked rather large and surely the task could be don quicker with two wolves working on it.

Blowing out a sigh of relief as she confirmed she was uninjured Perdicas felt like he could relax - just a bit. Of course he did understand that he had only lightly bumped into her, and with his soft fur it would have been hard to cause any sort of injury, but it was best to check. The Sisters were more important than him after all, and if one was injured - especially because of his inattention - then there was a big problem. "I am glad to hear that Sister."

At her question his eyes moved from her to the large branch and then after a moment to consider his answer he look back at her - though his eyes still remained glued to her legs. "Yes, I am capable of moving it myself. It is mostly hollow so is much lighter than it looks." That was why he had taken to this job himself instead of waiting for another slave to help. He licked his lips nervously. Talking to females wasn't exactly his forte. He was used to being given an order, replying with a 'Yes Sister' and then going about his duty. "Is...is there anything you require from me Sister...Eleos?" Gods he hoped he used the right name, for surely if it wasn't Eleos he would in for a tongue lashing for not addressing her properly.

As soon as he said that he was glad she wasn't hurt Eleos felt rather remiss - she had not yet asked him if he had been wounded in the collision, surely he hadn't been and sweeping him quickly with her gaze she couldn't detect any hint of an injury but it would still be polite to ask - and just because he was a slave Eleos felt no need to be rude to him. "Thank you for your concern" She told him sincerely "And you..are you injured in any way?" She questioned him "You can tell me if you are - it will be alright" She encouraged him because he seemed the shy sort and those ones never liked to admit they were hurt to the sisters.

But he was already asking if she required him for anything else...like they were want to do and Eleos shifted her paws slightly, she couldn't think of anything off hand but perhaps she would stick around to make sure he got the large branch out of the pathway before another sister came along to harry him "No, not at the moment - but why don't I stick around and keep watch for you? You'll get the branch out of the path faster if you don't have to keep stopping to see if someone is coming" She pointed out.

He couldn't help but smile a bit. She was amazingly kind and in a way reminded him of his mother. Seraphin was likely the kindest and gentlest of all the wolves here. "I am uninjured...you merely startled me than anything else." He still thought it foolish that he had not stopped to look. He always looked before crossing a path. Perhaps his perfect routine was not so perfect at all. So used to doing things in such a way he forgot about the world around him, it was a mistake he would not make every again.

He looked about for a moment, glancing at the branch and then the woods, back to the branch then finally back to her. "If...if...you wish to help I will not argue with that. I just do not want to keep you from your duties, surely you have something more important to attend to than help me." She could be heading to her den for a nap and that would make it more important than playing lookout for him while he fumbled with a large branch through the forest. Even so, the sooner he finished this job the sooner he could dive into more work and hope to make up for his running into her even if she did state she was uninjured and it was no fault of his. "I...I just need to get it to those rocks over there." He pointed with his muzzle. The rocks were a good distance away, semi-hidden by many trees but was the perfect place to dispose of the branch.

After a moments hesitation he glanced down the path one way and then the other before rising himself up a bit. It would be impossible to drag the branch with his belly nearly glued to the ground. Wrapping his jaws around the branches end Perdicas gave a bit of a tug to get it moving again and started to back his way across the path and towards his destination.

"Good" She replied "I wouldn't want to be responsible for hurting one of my own pack" She told him - which she reflected might be a rather unwarrior like thing to say but Eleo's had never really seen the point in proving her strength by terrorizing those lower then her. she knew what she could do thank you very much and she was secure enough in her abilities to not have to point them out all the time. She sometimes wondered if some underlying insecurities was the reason behind some of her packs ill temper...not that she'd ever admit that out loud of course. That would likely just result in a fight and mother had enough fighting to deal with already what with Orithia and Enyo;s recent brawl.

"Me? Oh no..I was just taking a walk honestly..nothing important going on at the moment" She replied as she glanced towards the rocks her indicated and then stepped away a bit so that he could move the branch without worrying about bumping into her again. She debated helping him drag the branch - but that would probably get him all flustered so she simply did as she said she would and sat down beside the path to keep an eye out for any more wayward travelers.

In his opinion a Sister going for a walk was still more important than anything he was doing. But by now the branch was firmly in his teeth so saying anything was pretty much impossible and he really didn't want to stop just so he could acknowledge was she had said. Tug, tug, pull, pull. That's what was going through his mind now. He was however aware of Eleos' presence and that she was making sure he wasn't going to accidentally bump into another Sister along the way. The process was slow at first as the branch got snagged once or twice on a few shrubs but with a couple of firm tugs he managed to get it free without any help and continued on his way.

After several moment of pulling he managed to get the large branch to his destination. Letting out a heavy breath Perdicas looked at the branch one last time and then started back towards the path. But something caught his eye and he paused to get a closer look. Oh dear. It seemed that the high winds from the other night had knocked a birds nest out of the tree. It now sat on the forest floor, though as luck would have it the eggs were still there and in tact. Should he do something with it? And if so what? Could the parents find it way down here or would the eggs and the chick inside of them die? Pacing back and forth his eyes glued to the nest Perdicas let out a whine, for a moment forgetting Eleos was around here.

Eleos did her best not to get Perdicas upset or overwhelmed by her presence, some of the slaves rather liked it when a sister was around to look over their shoulders and guide them about their work..but others just got fretful and worried about it. Eleos wasn't sure which category Perdicas was in as she didn't know him well enough - but she was leaning towards putting him in the second group.

Her thoughts were interrupted however when the patchy wolf suddenly whined and glancing over she noted that he'd managed to drag the branch away but was now worried about something on the ground. Had he found a snake? Or a spiders nest? Standing up she padded towards him "Whats wrong?" And then she spotted the birds nest - well at least it wasn't a snake..she didn't want to have to deal with that. "Oh...." She stated, tilting her head up to glance into the tree they must have fallen from 'its a wonder they weren't all broken"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 11:21 am

The voice made him jump and take a few steps to the side. Oh how stupid he was to forget that she had been there. But his concentration had been on the nest and not on the rest of his surroundings. Clearly he needed to pay more attention to what was around him. "Yeah they are lucky that they are not broken." He finally said stepping closer to the nest again. Then he glanced up towards the tree, the branches on it weren't that high, maybe they could somehow put the nest back up there.

"Should we try and put it back? Do you think they can find it down here? What if a predator eats them?" All these question came from him and he pondered what to do. He had never come across a fallen nest before and in all the things his father had taught him about his duties as a slave there had never been mention of what to do should he come across a birds nest, especially if there were still eggs in it.

"If we leave them on the ground snakes will get them" Of that Eleos was sure..of course there was another option as well and grimacing a bit she added that bit to the conversation "Or Yakut will find them and crack them open to see what sort of omens such obviously lucky eggs contain" Neither option was really a good one but squinting up at the tree Eleos wasn't entirely sure they could get it safety back into the branches again. Maybe it would be best to just let nature take its course and leave them on the ground...but Perdicas looked quite worried and so Eleos knew they had to try something else the slave would fret about the eggs the entire day and night. She wasn't even sure that the parents would come back to the nest if they did get it back up in the tree after wolves had touched it. Birds were often not overly fond of wolves.

"If only mothers cat were around' she stated after a few moments "Cats are far better climbers...but I suppose we ought to try something, I'm sure we could reach the branches if we jumped but the eggs would likely fall out and I doubt they'd be lucky a second time around..maybe if one of us stood on the others back and then used the tree to balance on our hindlegs we could reach?"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 11:45 am

Perdicas felt an involuntary shudder run down his back at the mention of the packs Shamaness. That wolf scared him, but he also respected her because she was high ranking and had proven herself to be a worthy addition as well. He would die if he saw Yakut messing around with these eggs. So that set in a bit of determination, they needed to get these eggs back up in the tree. The mention of Eleos' mothers familiar made him perk up and he looked about for a moment hoping the lynx would magically appear. When she did not Peridas let out a bit of a sigh. It would have been easier if Cleite was here to help but they would have to work it out themselves.

He gave a nod of his head at her suggestion. "You...you could stand on my back." It would be unseemly for a slave to use a Sister as some sort of makeshift ladder. Besides, he was stronger and heavier than he looked, all this physical labor left his body covered with muscles and his soft fur would be pleasant enough for her to stand on. Thinking this idea would work he positioned his body so that it was nearly under the branch but not directly. Then he looked at Eleos. "Climb on, I'll hand you the nest once your up." In this moment he didn't even realize that he had stepped out of his role of slave, it should be her telling him what to do not the other way around. But duty called him to take charge in this moment and without a second thought he carefully picked up the nest in his teeth - it was much sturdier built than it looked and braced his legs to support her weight.

Eleos thought this whole situation might be a bit unseemly if someone were to stumble across them - but it was for a good cause she supposed so she was willing to take that chance. Perdicas seemed like nice enough male too and somewhere in the back of her female mind she thought him rather handsome as well with his patchy bold markings, although she'd keep that thought to herself.

Hoping that she wouldn't prove to be to heavy for the other wolf - though she wasn't overly large herself and he seemed like a sturdy enough beast - Eleos clambered up on the other wolf's back. There really was no dignified way to go about it and after a bit of huffing and 'sorry's' when her paws slipped she thought she had herself stable enough. "Alright, hand up the nest" She asked him and when he did so she carefully stood up to brace her front legs against the trees trunk, the action caused her to wobble a bit but she caught her balence again without dumping either herself or the eggs and hopefully without scratching up Perdicas back to terribly much and managed to place the nest in a nice little place in the branch before hopping down and peering upwards to study her work from the ground "I think that will do" She stated confidently..it looked stable enough anyways.
