Entry withdrawn due to circumstances~Quote: Character Name: Theofratus Menniadis Player Name: White Oblivion Race: Human Aspirations: To affirm his position and standing on the world; ascertain his existence and prove himself worthy of wielding magic. Overall, Theofratus wishes to understand himself more through his journey of growing up and eventually come to decide what is it that he truly wants to do. At first glance the path of a Reaper appeals to him, with the never-ending struggle against the Majin and chances to constantly prove himself in battle. Then again the Ars Lilium introduces a whole different kind of being he might or might not be ready to accept yet -as he believes that shying away, only raising your head when you're pushed into a corner counts as downright cowardice.
Short Biography/background: (( Orz I'm so sorry if this doesn't justify as 'short' I got carried away...))
Before stating anything else it should be noted that Theofratus has a somewhat rebellious nature. At first glance he comes off as a rough character; constantly defiant -probably to a fault-, straight-forward, honest and a victim of tactless words as he rarely thinks twice before speaking his mind. He also happens to be short-tempered, often snapping at the slightest iota of a hint of an excuse, as well as a single-minded idiot who always charges head on before thinking of the consequences. That doesn't go without saying he has his good points, however. For example he's completely genuine, never hiding behind facades or false words -honesty is severely underrated nowadays-, fiercely determined, compassionate, devoted to his cause and loyal to all those close to him, with an additional strong sense of justice that will not allow for 'villainous characters' to get away with 'hurting the innocent'.
Now, to understand him a little better, Theo was the third son of a rather large family, totalling a number of seventeen members -including his twelve siblings, his parents and grandparents from his mother's side- living together under the same roof. He grew up never being alone in a home that was always bustling with activity; there was always something that needed to be done, someone to take care of, some problem to solve or some chore somebody didn't do and had to be passed on instead of trying to figure out who was the one that skipped it. Therefore, the way he was brought up prioritized being open, resilient, honest and required being able to step up and admit one's own mistakes so others wouldn't take the blame for you -or in turn, collectively take the blame for someone in order to have their back-. Being the seventh oldest -somewhere in the middle- forced quite enough responsibility on him and Theo was happy to comply -as long as it didn't include having to mentally stress over it; he thought best to leave that to Philemon, his fraternal twin brother-.
Yes, Theofratus Menniadis was all of these things. He furthermore harbored an extreme dislike for homework and paperwork in general. Practicing magic came naturally so whyever would anyone need to sit down and strain their mind to the limits of its possible thinking structures in order to 'learn' it? Quite frankly, if given the choice he'd skip his classes and just focus on the more... let's say 'physical' side of the whole deal. What were Witches for if not for slaying Majin?
He couldn't help but think of the whole mess he was in -they were in- in that very sense. It was all twisted and strange, a vile way of perceiving life but there wasn't anything he could do to change it. To him Majin would always be nothing but vermin that needed to be eradicated, purged from existence. He didn't care if it was what people would call a 'genocide'. To Theofratus, it was more than a generic 'Majin are evil and must be stopped' case, it was entirely personal and it ignited a deep-rooted, burning hatred towards them in his heart. It all began when his twin brother was first targeted by one and barely made it out alive, then other members of his family. Of course Majin were a reality to him even before that, but one never expects the real danger to knock on their own door as they say. And from the moment it happened, well, let's just assume that Theo wasn't very happy about it.
By the time he made it to the Academy, he didn't think that there was anyone that could possibly change his viewpoint on the matter.

Character Name: Jaime Presney
Player Name: Dakka Domi
Race: Majin
Aspirations: Ultimately, Jaime seeks an enlightened and complete understanding of beauty, a human concept that fascinates him greatly. He searches for magic that bends and shapes his form into something ever-more appealing, and probably won't stop until he's a twisted caricature of what was once a simple spirit, he ascends to become a sage and unbinds himself from mortality and turns full circle, or something kills him. Whichever comes first.
Short Biography/background: Where does time start for a Majin? When they will themselves into being with a human form, or does it go back much farther, to their original experiences as a spirit? What's lost in the transition, and what's important in the long run? Do any of the memories matter? In the hazy half-light of millennia past in Jaime's life, one moment remains frozen with stark, crystal clarity. It acts as a reference point, a pillar rising up out of the deluge of memories and the losses therein. From it, Jaime moves forward, and he gauges every action against it.
In it, there is a quiet, calm lake, somewhere deep in the woods of far-away. All is still, not even a breeze breaks its glassy surface, like a mirror laid out flat to gaze up at the sky. There is a gentle caw of birds, as if even they are mindful of the peace they might be disturbing. From behind the clouds that dot the sky comes peeking the moon, for it is night (though the concept of night and day has not yet occurred to Jaime), and it lets its light fall like a sheet upon the lake's surface, and the reflection turns it to quicksilver. Jaime watches this all unfold from a distance, sometimes from between the trees, sometimes from directly above, and sometimes more from far above, gazing down at the pinprick that the lake becomes with distance. He is a solitary spirit, without companions to compare his experiences with or learn from, but even on his own limited knowledge, he understands that something is primordially and celestially right about the scene. He'll later come to understand the word to describe the moment by the lake as beautiful, but by the time he does he'll be nearly human and the wonder of the memory will be long lost to him.
Then come the waves of time and the fleets of memories upon them and the cacophony of sights and sounds that emanate again from the second. The existential questions of what's really worth remembering beyond where we start and where we're going come into play here. We'll save the minutiae and pick up on more recent affairs.
As of late, and late being the past several years, mere moments on the true length of things, Jaime has found a new love of magic and the sensation created by performing it, even more so than what was normal from his natural knack for the phenomena. Something about it feels sublimely right, like that moment in his mind from so long ago, although exactly what about it feels so divine is still a mystery to Jaime. Perhaps it stems from the years wearing away his love and reliance on that old moonlit lake, and his mind seeks to replace it with some new sensation to keep Jaime at ease. Or maybe casting gives Jaime some sort of satisfaction, makes him feel just a little bit superior, as a means of coping with his growing feelings of self-consciousness. To be less than human weighs heavy on Jaime's perception of himself. Alternatively, there could be something deeper down, something darker. Maybe his hunger for mana and the very hearts of witches is growing unbearable, and what better way to satiate oneself on a witch's essence can one find, compared to finding a huge collection of them and picking of them freely?
Whatever the reason, Jaime makes his way to the Makai Royal Academy. He'll find some way to enroll, like he finds some way to accomplish every one of his tasks. And once he's in, he hopes his fair looks and well-kept appearance will hold him over until he masters the art of human interaction. Only a matter of time.

Character Name: Marek Vladan
Player Name: Vasyl Zaejue
Race: Majin
Aspirations: To prove the 'obvious' superiority of the Majin race compared to the Human race by any means necessary. Basically, Marek is very proud of what he is, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. It's a good thing because it pushes him to prove he is better than any one else among his peers in terms of power. Unfortunately for those who challenge him he isn't above playing dirty and will often exploit any weakness he can find. He will continue to garner as much power as he possibly can until he ascends to a level others can only dream of obtaining.
Short Biography/background: From birth Marek craved the mana within a witch's heart and growing up embraced this part of himself. While careful to avoid the scrutinous eye of the reapers he didn't do anything to deny his status as a Majin. This often did get him in trouble from time to time while he grew up.
When he was very young most found his attitude rather cute and adorable, but when as he got older it came across as arrogant and egotistical. Not to mention a lot of people had a disdainful disposition towards Majin which his attitude did nothing to help. Most humans would end looking down on him or several Majins only saw him as all talk and no show.
However believe or not he was strangely determined to prove that he was better than everyone he met. It was this determination that pushed him to train, learn, and do whatever it took to succeed in any walk of life. His goal in life to eventually become Sage and to use that power to cause the Majin to rise to what he views as their rightful place above humans.
However before he knows that before one can run one must walk, and before one can walk one must crawl. Following this strategy he has made it his current goal to enroll in Makai Royal Academy, even if he has to deny part of who he is while within the walls of the school.

Character Name: Uaithne Cahal
Player Name: Orpheus Solon
Race: Majin
Aspirations: Uaithne's prensent goals seem fairly simple for the moment, he wants to finish up his schooling so that he can go back to his home and be able to better tend to things with what he has learned there. In the more long term he wants to also try to figure out how to better get control over a growing desire for a taste of a Witch's Heart, something that will grow stronger as he get around more and more powerful magic users while he is at the school. While his greatest desire and goal would be to become as close as possible to being human, wanting to do the same things, feel the same things, and want for the same things as them while holding back what it is to be Majin.
He will always have to deal with a dual nature, what he is verses how he was raised, as he works to get closer to the many goals laid out before him.
Short Biography/background: Uaithne doesn't really remember much before when he came into being, just that one day he was there, conscious and with a human form within the center of a large, beautiful garden. The house he'd appeared behind was located at the edge of Clarus Arbor and was owned by a rather old lady that everyone in town seemed to just refer to as 'Grannie'. She found him sitting among her flowers, named him Uaithne, a name that means green, because like the plants around him there was a lot of green upon his person. Like any good mother she took him into her home to raise and care for him, teaching him all that one needed to know, answering his questions, and helping to give him purpose. The woman never had any children of her own, having been far to goal orientated when she was younger, and she seemed to be more then happy with the son that appeared in her garden.
The woman was no push over and no fool, she could tell what the boy was straight away but seemed to hold no biased against him, Human or Majin he was what he was, a child in need of a parent to tend to him. He was raised in the rural town and had a rather simple life, simple clothing, a simple way of life in general. During the day Uaithne would tend to the garden, feed the animals, and then to the many chores he had to do, but nothing that he ever really resented. He was told that having such chores would help to shape his character. If anything he found himself quite fond of the flowers, watching the way that they grew during the warm months, withered way in the cold ones, only to return again. Their perseverance and strength were quite amazing to him and he ending up with a great liking for them and for gardening in general. Living with Grannie he learned a great many things and for a while he was able to completely forget what he actually was while with the woman, feeling as if he were truly her son.
It was likely that he would have remained such as well, spending years with her while never wanting for anything else but to see more flowers grow, but like all humans his Grannie passed on leaving the cottage, the garden, and the animals to him but also left a simple wish behind. He would be able to keep everything that was given to him by her but she wanted for him to attend the Makai Royal Academy, to better know what he is, what he could do with the powers granted to him by his Majin blood. While Uaithne wanted nothing more then to stay at home to tend to it there was no way that he could go against the wishes of his Mother figure. He spoke with a trusted neighbor who agreed to tend to his home while he was away at school, wanting to make sure that everything was kept in order and safe until his return.

Character Name: Kai Florentine Player Name: Eternal Newbie Race: Human Aspirations: To advance as far as possible and obtain power both personal and public. To never be trapped in a state of vulnerability and weakness. To that end, he will become an Ars Lilium and desire to make himself useful to the royal family. Otherwise he has no strong plans - he'll probably gravitate towards positions of authority in society.
Short Biography/background: "Name?"
"Kai Florentine."
"Age?"
"Sixteen."
"Gender?"
Kai stared at the examination officer for Makai Royal Academy. The woman dressed in grey stared right back. The force of a thousand examinations conducted with a thousand smartass kids at a hundred different schools bore down on him. Even though the unused classroom was a cozy temperature, he shivered.
"Male," he mumbled. He stared at his shoes. They were awfully nice today. He'd made sure to polish them this morning.
The examiner bent over her sheet of paper again as her quill hovered on its own. A traditionalist, Kai noted. Her nametag read 'Harriet'. "Where were you born? Have you always lived in Moonfall?"
The same cramped house, preserved under plastic and with cleaning charms. Last year's curtains bought at second-hand stores, glass cups that look like crystal as long as you don't look too close. He'd lay outside on the (perfectly mowed) lawn and stare up at the sky, thinking of wide open spaces or mansions in silver and gold or sometimes nothing at all. "Yes."
The examiner pushed her glasses back up her nose. "Parents, name and occupation," she said.
She already knew, didn't she? She could just look it up, couldn't she? Which meant this was part of the test...or she was just lazy. Kai barely held back a sneer.
He absently wondered if she could hear the hidden sarcasm in his voice as he replied, "Father, James Florentine, Chokmah Interface developer." A faded man who worked in faded cubicles, who kissed his wife on the cheek and patted his son on the head. "Mother, Judith Florentine, homemaker." A woman who covered up worn edges with the newest paisley print and closed loud mouths with properly-prepared cookies.
A family with no titles, no ancestors, no well-known names - generation after generation of weak-magiced souls. If he was accepted, Kai would be the first in his family to go to the Academy.
"Any brothers or sisters?" The examiner asked. Kai shook his head.
She leaned back and finally said, "the test can take hours for a student to complete. If you need to eat, drink, or otherwise take a break, now's your chance." She rubbed at her face. He wondered how many exams she'd overseen today.
"No? Then the test will begin." She waved her hand and a set of items shimmered into place onto her desk. They were common items - an unlit candle, a mirror, a potted flower. The examiner glanced at her paper, then the items, then nodded to herself before looking Kai in the eye. "Accepting any form of aid will count as plagarism and will result in nullification of this test. This is intended to test your magic skill, and yours alone. You can complete the tasks in any order you wish. Your score is based on your form and technique, not how quickly you can progress through the tasks. Finishing faster won't necessarily give you a higher score. Do you understand?"
He nodded his head hard. His hands gripped his sleeves; he could barely contain his impatience. He'd been practicing for this for months, for his entire life. He could do this.
The woman sighed and rubbed her face. "Then begin when you feel ready."
The candle sat in a small bronze candleholder. Kai closed his eyes (focus your mind)
inhale
then opened them, stretched out his right arm and
exhale.
