Super Sailor Chaonis was feeling much better these days. He had been taking it easy, or rather easier than he usually took it, heading out to patrol every second or third day of the past couple of weeks. It was a nice break, and gave him time to heal and rest.
And catch up on his video games.
But now he was back on the scene, and itching for a fight. The whole reason he had taken time off was getting into too many fights and wearing himself down. A lesson he apparently did not learn with any staying power, if the first thing he did when he came back to patrol was hunt for something to hit.
He was walking down a dark street. The hour was just past midnight, and there wasn't much activity out on the streets in the city, near the shops. By the bars and restaurants there were more people roaming about listlessly, but Chaonis wasn't looking for that kind of audience.
His goal was to find something like a monster or a Nega. Civilians were useless to him, unless they were being chased by one of the two previous.
Whistling to himself, he jumped at a street lamp, climbing up it. Hanging from its protruding neck, he did a couple of pull ups, just to waste time and amuse himself. He hadn't sensed or seen anything yet, and that was a bummer.

For Serpentarius, life had become a normal routine. Patrolling had become part of that routine. She was apart of a court, which kept her busy. Not to mention she had her cousin, who kept her sane during everything. But tonight, tonight she was alone on her patrol. This was by choice really, as she wanted to prove something to herself.
So it came no surprise to her when she was having no luck in finding a youma. Of course not, the one night she was actually looking for a fight. With a sigh, she rounds the corner of the local ice cream shop, only to come across a familiar face.
Tilting her head to the side, she stood there watching Chaonis for a moment before she chuckles "So this is how you patrol? Must say, rather interesting. I bet most of the female senshi enjoy the view." she said most, just to pick on him.
Slipping under the lamp, careful to stay out of the way, she glance up at him "Looks like your doing better Chaonis."

Chaonis felt the energy signature of another senshi coming his way, but didn't bother to drop down from the light until he heard her speak. He landed lightly on his feet, straightening up and grinning at her broadly.
"You know it. I mean, you wouldn't have said it if you weren't thinking the same, right. That's alright, I don't mind you looking."
He put his hands on his hips, definitely looking much better than the last time he had run into Serpentarius. In fact, that had been a very embarrassing time and he did not want to really own up to it at all. In fact, if he could get through this whole conversation not bringing up that fight at all, he would be perfectly content.
And then, as if to spite himself because he was just that kind of guy, and even his own likes and dislikes were not off limits for mocking and poking, he brought it up.
"You been using that attack thing of yours much?"

Rolling her eyes, Serpentarius gives Chaonis a rather cheeky grin as she lifts her hand to wave him off "Yea, you wish." she wouldn't admit to anything, it wasn't her thing after all. Placing her hands behind her head, she smirks at him for a moment before tilting her head to the side.
"I'm glad to see you are better, and no only when I have no choice do I use my powers." she thought back tot he couple of times she used it. One was on the nega chick, but that ended in a stand still due to the cops. She couldn't help but wonder what would have happen if they were allowed to keep fighting.
"Actually, I'm glad I ran into you." pushing off the lamp post, she grins up at him as she walks away from him for a moment "You said you would be willing to help me out when we first met. Well, I was wondering." turning towards him, she place her own hands on her hips "I wanna learn how to fight better. I can throw a punch and a kick, but I wanna learn more."

Chaonis looked disappointed.
"With an attack that can actually be useful for more than just running away, you'd think you'd get more practice than that."
A lot of senshi subscribed to that idea of 'only fighting when they had to'. To Chaonis, it didn't make sense. Sure, he didn't expect everyone to go out and punch everything they could, like he did, because it was a really good way to get one self killed without much effort. Unless they were him, clearly. But he also thought it was equally as fate tempting to not at least get practice in: seeking out fights to train with: especially with youma. As far as the Senshi of Danger was concerned, that was what youma were for.
It prepared them for tougher fights with Negas, so they weren't always in over their heads or helpless. All Senshi needed to have at least basic physical fighting skills.
When she asked him if he would help her fight, then, he grinned, watching her as she stood with her hands on her hips. His arms were folded over his chest plate.
"Well, I don't know. You don't look like you could do much else," he taunted, but he shrugged languidly, "but if you want to see if I can take on a hopeless case, I might as well give it a whirl. I'm not doing anything else right now."
He grinned at her, then suddenly charged, fist flashing forward at her face. Wasting time was for sissies.

Serpentarius didn't have time to react, all she saw was Chaonis charge her. Then she felt his impact her cheek. Hitting the ground rather hard, she actually slides against the ground a couple of inches before coming to a halt. Laying there for a moment, she was in shock as to what actually happen.
How did that happen? She was normally on her toes around everyone.
Sitting up slowly, she touched her right cheek only to wince as she pulls her hand away quickly. Her emerald eyes glossed over, but no tears fell at all. Hell no, she wouldn't allow that to happen.
Instead she stood slowly, she fist balling up before she narrows her eyes at Chaonis "That was a good shot. I didn't even see you until the last second." if this was how he was going to teach her, then so be it.
Without another word, she lunges forward. Her own fist pulled back ready to impact his gut. However at the last minute, she changes it up and instead to drops down as she attempts to sweep his legs out from under him.

Chaonis was surprised that she hadn't tried to duck or block. But then, if she was as unused to fighting as she said she was, maybe she just didn't have the reflexes or instincts for her. He would just have to keep punching her until they appeared, of course.
Apparently he really didn't subscribe to the no hitting of girls rule.
At least she was tough. She got right back to her feet and was staring at him with clear eyes. A sign that she really was in it to learn something, and wasn't just trying to find an easy lesson. He wouldn't be giving them, but she seemed okay with that. Good. He grinned.
"Better learn to see things sooner than that. Negas are faster. Youma can be, too." True, he was a Super, but he didn't think that was enough of an excuse. Anyway, if she could hold her own in a fight against him, then she would be set.
He moved to block her, and it seemed like he would have been able to if she hadn't changed tactics. He felt her leg hit his and he had no choice but to fall. He lashed his arms out, though, catching himself as he fell sideways to the floor and whipping his legs around at her, returning her kick with an immediate one of her own. Not the most graceful looking of attacks, considering her position and how close they were, but fighting wasn't about looking pretty.
It was about winning or at least getting away well enough to fight again.
"Good! Feigning will mix up the enemy, but only if they don't know how to fight," he lectured in the middle of it, his tone taunting, "not gonna work against everyone."

Serpentarius felt her elbow smack the ground, then her body from the kick that swept her legs out from under her. She bit her tongue rather hard from the pain then tingles that ran through her arm as she slowly got to her knee. Taking in a slow deep breath, she stood again as she shakes her head.
"No holding back huh? Fine...if you want it that way." without a another word, she leaps over him, the whole time her arms moving in front of her as she grins "Serpent's KISS!" just as she lands behind him, a snake forms around her hands before lashes out towards Chaonis.
It fangs wide, ready to sink into his skin so it can slow him down for fourty five seconds.

Chaonis tried to follow her movement, taking an instinctive step back when he saw her move to jump. He thought she was going to try and kick him in the face or something, and while he was mentally preparing for that he saw her jump high into the air.
Too high to hit him.
"Oh s**t," he said, turning on instinct, but he was only half way around by the time she had landed behind him. She was fast, she had that going for her, and clearly she knew how to use her boosts to get her where she wanted to go. A lot of senshi were fumbling idiots, as far as Chaonis was concerned, when it came to battle.
But at least she had the sense to get out of the way and fight back with everything she had. That was good.
Well, for anyone but her opponent.
He felt the 'snake' bite into his arm, reeling back. The pain and surprise ruined his balance and he stumbled a few steps while the spell hit him like a magical fist. It left him open for a follow up attack.

Serpentarius dropped her hands as she see the fangs sink then work their magic. Normally she wouldn't hit a person when they were trapped, but she had a feeling this was her flaw. She had been lucky so far, that those she used her kiss on didn't attack her afterwards. This however wouldn't be the case every time.
Stepping to the side, she grabs a hold of his arm just as she foot sweeps him once again.
Ten more seconds...
Taking a few steps back, she braced herself once more as she knew the effects would wear off at second. A smile slipping across her lips as she tilts her head some to the side "Now you know why I rarely use my kiss. Not to mention, I can only use it once. So I have to be careful on when I use it."

Chaonis could do very little as she grabbed onto his arm, and even less when he felt his feet kicked out from under him. Gravity was not going to give him any exception to its rule, forcing him to drop to the floor like a stone.
He waited for the spell to wear off before he struggled back to his feet.
"I'm all for showing off," he said, with some difficulty. He was either tired, favoring some pain from the fall, or trying not to yell at her because of how embarrassed he felt. Considering his blazing eyes and red face, it might not be difficult to pick which one it was.
He recovered as quickly as he could, though.
"but not before you've actually won!" He charged at her, still feeling slightly sluggish but it was lifting quickly. He swung his fist at her. "What happens when you run out of that magic, then? I'm still here: I've no reason to stop fighting you!"
Plus, he really wanted to get back some face. He much preferred doing the 'training' and sparring on his own terms, and not actually losing the upper hand that badly.

Stepping to the side, Serpentarius felt the fist hit her arm as she turns. Holding her arm for a moment, she wince finding herself breathing hard thanks to the energy lost. Shaking her head, she does a spinning heel kick towards his back as he passed her "I keep fighting, I know that I have to if I want to live." she wouldn't allow this sparring match to get the best of her.
As her leg came down, she charges towards Chaonis. Turning her body tot he side some, she attempts to use her body as a battling ramp and knock him down. If she could pin him, then maybe, just maybe she would be able to catch her breath for a moment.
This however, she didn't count on.

Chaonis was feeling more like himself, and he was very used to these kinds of fights. Neither were holding back completely, but there was not that air of recklessness that came with a real 'do anything to win' kind of brawl.
When she charged him, he moved to catch her, let her tackle him. He fell back but braced himself, working to turn them and pin her instead of letting her intended effort go as she planned.
He was feeling much better now and was damn ready to get her back for before.
"You're damn right you do," he said, throwing a surprise punch at her jaw and rolling with his fist, an attempt to turn them over abruptly and pin her down under him. "You give your enemy a chance to overcome you and they're not going to stop until they win. Your magic might be damn useful but if it takes so much out of you, you need to make sure you can finish a fight before you even think about using it."

Serpentarius wasn't sure what happen, other then realizing she was under him pinned. Opening her eyes, she brought one arm up in attempt to block the punch that instead his her wrist. To say she was tired wads the least of her problem, she was in pain and was trying her best to hide it. Glaring up at him, she shakes her head as she struggles for a moment "Now you understand why I try not to use it unless I have no choice." even she knew when to admit defeat.
Breathing hard, she attempts to throw a punch at his chest "I get what I did was a foolish mistake, but would you get off me? Your not helping my breathing you know?" shoving at him this time, she was determined to at least get some of her pride back.
The way she saw it, she held her own for awhile. For that she saw a little improvement in herself.

Chaonis watched her, dark eyes sharp and critical. Her punch hit the plastic-ish armor on his chest, but it was enough to get him to agree to get off her. He was slow about it, especially after she shoved him, getting to his feet first, feet straddling either side of her as he looked down at her, then he stood to the side.
"Alright, alright, get up," he said, offering her his hand. It was up to her to decide if it was a trick of not.
"That skill is useful, but it leaves you open to attack if you don't act fast enough. You just have to practice with it. You keep not using it unless you have to and you're never going to get a hang of it. Use it when you don't have to: when you're sure you can already win, or whenever the hell you can. The more practice you get, the better you'll be."
He was advocating the word 'practice' and trying to tell her to train, two things he mentally avoided admitting he was doing for himself like the plague. He had grown up hating the idea of responsibility and routine. But something about this, about being a senshi and being able to aid others like him, was making something in his mind shift gears.
"You're strong. You can fight. You need some pointers and some style, but you've got the basics." He grinned at her half teasingly, though he meant what he was saying.
