Hellohello. Welcome to another RP event game! Quote: The Setup:
Naseera might be new to the firekin, but she isn't new to getting herself into trouble. Before she became a member of the pride, she was something of a grave robber. Artifacts, relics...she can't stand the idea of things simply remaining hidden.
So naturally, not all of her trips into the desert had utilitarian designs. The motoujamii has been closed off for a long time- who knows what the aspiring treasure hunter might find?
It's just breaking morning, and Naseera has returned with some big news. The oasis has dried up! No need to panic! It's exposed a lot of cool stuff! Instructions! ----------------------------
- This event will last a week-week and a half. [Unless all items are won before then.]
- This will be a somewhat different 'game' event. Rather then posting and waiting for results, each post will determine whether or not you may pick a prize. - For each post you make, you must roll a number 1-10. Every post that lands on 3 is a winner!* - You may only win one prize. Prizes are chosen first come, first serve. Please edit the post with your prize. - You may not double post. However, as soon as someone else posts, you may post. - EACH post must be at least a paragraph in length. It doesn't have to be a big paragraph. But don't simply throw a couple of lines and call it a day. - Once all the prizes have been won, there will be a raffle between all posts for a firekin cub! You may win both a cub and a familiar. - Since each post is like a raffle ticket, please feel free to RP as you would normally.
*It's possible that, if the numbers are not fast coming, I may alter the 'lucky' numbers to make sure this doesn't go on too long. OR include the remainders in the raffle. This would only happen a week from now, so for the meantime, don't worry about it.
Finally! Anyone may enter this contest! However the only lion characters should be firekin members, hongshan members, or rogues who are already approved to begin dueling.
If you do not have a familiar or lion to use, you may create a NPC animal, such as a lizard. Something that the shop does not have.

He looks pretty majestic.

It had been a hot week. Exceptionally hot even.
This wasn't exactly breaking news to the inhabitants of the Motoujamii. There were very few things one could count on in the ever changing desert... but one could always count on the heat. It was synonymous with the pride of fire. That said, it had been particularly hot this week. So hot, in fact, that the water-seekers were starting to agonize over some of the water supplies drying up. Things were being kept mostly quiet, as there was no need for a panic. The desert wasn't always a kind mistress, but it always rained in due time.
But while things might have been kept mostly to whispered conversations and grumbles, some things were becoming more apparent. Like the water in one of the larger oasises that surrounded the pride all but evaporating. A few, small puddles clung to the surface of the dried up riverbed, but other then that the land had returned to the barrens. To most, this would have been a calamity.
Naseera, however, knew an opportunity when she saw one. After mucking around in the dissipating mud and murk, she'd unearthed what was quite possibly a trove of strange objects. Things long buried beneath the waters, left there by both lions and strange beings alike. Ancient things. Things that mattered to someone, at sometime.
It was unfortunate she wasn't still in the business. There were individuals outside this savage pride that'd fork over the best in hunting spots just to get their paws on some of these. Things held power, to the right people. The motoujamii residents were not so...culturally inclined. [To put it lightly.] But they were a prideful sort, and she didn't doubt that even they might find some interest in what lurked beneath the dark mud.
"Alright, everyone." The lioness started, her voice raised up above the bemused mumblings. "There's a lot of strange things down here. I know I'm not supposed to talk about curses and-"
"Don't talk about the curses," came the flat response of the jackal beside her.
"Okay. There is absolutely, no curses." Although through clenched teeth she added: "We're taking care of those, right?"
Milo shifted his ear. "More or less."
"Brilliant. With the water level down there's a ton of strange things down here we need to get rid of. Now, I'm sure some of you might say- why not leave the dead buried?" The cat scrunched up her nose. "And, I say. Do you really want to drink from water with these things down here? Really? I didn't think so. Let's get this stuff moved. I am told you're free to keep whatever you can dig up."
She blinked her strange eyes. "And, should you unearth something particularly valuable... well! I've got some good things to trade for it. For...historical preservation. Mostly."
------------
Below is a list of the things that can be found in the riverbed!
- You may, for the most part, make up whatever you want about each individual item. Since we'll be rolling a lot, these are just basic descriptions. - Rolling a 3 wins a prize! If you wish to RP Naseera in your post, you may.

Sample!Quote: Veru wasn't particularly interested in digging in the mud. But after spending almost a week trapped under Ea's dictatorship doctoring, the white lion was looking for any excuse to get some fresh air. With An floating around nearby, Veru decided to poke around the event. While he wasn't a perennial resident of the Motoujamii, it did strike him as odd to see the water receding so low.
But Veru also didn't like to worry about things. "Ah!" The white lion sighed. "Wherever I go, I somehow find myself covered in mud."
An smiled, trotting up around him. The golden lioness was practically black with mud. The fact that she hadn't found anything seemed to be driving her crazy. "Everyone is finding things."
"I haven't found anything," Veru muttered. And then, he stopped, his bright red eyes flashing. "Nevermind that!"
The white lion lifted up his paw, where a small trinket had tangled itself in his paws. It looked archaic, and almost religious. "Huh, it's like... a thing."
"It's gross," An muttered.
Veru chucked it over his shoulder. "Well, there's got to be something good here."

Saoiraed was always eager for a little adventure, and especially for things that needed found. He'd found a cape himself in his younger days; a sheet of torn and tattered cloth with golden rings attached. He'd fashioned it to be worn, and thought it was quite nice. He waddled after the adults going digging in the muddy muck around the oasis bed. Eagerly he sprang ahead, digging little holes here and there. Finally he felt something under his paws that wasn't just dirt, sand, or mud. He dug faster, harder! Haha! He'd found something before anyone else had found it! He backed up, stuck his head in the hole, and tugged. The thing! He'd gotten it! It was...a stone tablet! He struggled to heft it for long, and eventually dropped it back into the mud with a wet splat. He peered at it, trying to make out what the squiggles on it were. Whomever had drawn these pictures wasn't a very good artist, he thought. Still, maybe someone would want it. He dragged it back up the banks, setting it in the dry sand. He could come back for it later.

(Hopefully I'm doing this right. ^_^ I don't think meerkats are in the shop, so I'll use one of them.)
Meeper peeked out of his den. Though it was broad daylight and he should be sleeping right now, the young meerkat was thirsty. He checked for predatures, then scampered down from his den. A quick dash and he had reached the greatly reduced river. Much to his surprise and horror, there was numerous lions and other creatures digging in the mud. What was going on? Had they gone mad? He debated getting a drink after all.

There was a soft grunting sound from behind the group. A grizzled warthog had heard the sounds coming from by the dried riverbed and come to investigate, expecting to see another family of silly ostriches or zebra bemoaning the lack of water. Surprisingly, there were more lions than anything, stirring the muck up as if they’d forgotten their senses.
The warthog didn’t run though. He was old, with huge, twisted and cracked tusks that had seen many battles. He snorted once, squinted his bad eye against the sun, and ambled down into the riverbed. Whatever it was the lions were after, it wasn’t food, and he could fend off any casual attempt at hunting. Besides, he needed the mud for wallowing in this heat, lions or no lions.

Niwaa found the heat quite unbearable. On most days like this she would have happily stayed in her dark and cool den but mere minutes ago her rest had been interrupted by a giant paw which had come crashing down through the roof of her small home. She'd kicked and scrambled and fled and she figured she'd barely made it out alive. She didn't stop running until she found a patch of dried grass in which to hide. From there she turned back to examine the going ons back near her now ruined home. The oasis had nearly completely dried out (not a surprise, it had been working on that for a while now) and the water had been replaced with... lions? She shook her tiny head. Where they trying to go deeper for water? A noble cause if that was the case... She decided to join in, stopping every so often to check for incoming predators as she dug onto the cracking soil. Perhaps, if she didn't hit water, this would be a decent place to hole up for a night. Not far beneath the surface she unearthed a small, iridescent stone. Pretty, but of no use to her. She threw it away.

Meeper twitched his whiskers. He saw a mouse some scurrying out from where one of the lions was digging. Well she wasn't being attacked and she'd started to dig too. Curious he went over. "Everything alright?"
He looked around and spotted an unclaimed spot. Surely he could try too. The mud clinged to his paws as he started to dig. It felt funny and he shook his paws free of it. Meeper felt slightly silly for doing it. Being a meerkat he was totally use to digging for his dinner. Maybe he wouldn't feel funny if he pretended it was breakfast he was after.

The warthog’s narrow legs stabbed into the muck and he casually ambled through the sticky slop until, finding a suitable place, he belly flopped into the cool mud. He had lived through too many names to bother thinking of himself as Gramble anymore, or The Tusk, or anything else foolish such as that. He gazed out over the mass of animals in the mud with a clear blue eye and idly dipped a tusk in the mud and jerked it, dislodging a large patch of semi-dried mud and unearthing a wetter portion. There was nothing there, but the mud was cool and he didn’t mind the work. He wriggled forward a bit and tried again.

She dug deeper. The ground wasn't getting any more moist but there was no way she was going to take her tender little body and rush right into that pack of lions to dig right in the thick of things. Niwaa was small enough that she didn't absolutely need that water. She could survive quite a while off of of the small amounts of water gained from her food. Living near water just made it that much easier. She was down the hole to her mid-back now, just her rear sticking out...

gonk Forgot to roll...
... There was something odd buried in the dirt. First she tried to dig it out, then she just tried to dig around it. The more of the strange object she exposed the more breaks she'd take to sit outside the hole and watch for predators. After several of these breaks, she found herself entirely unwilling to go back into the hole at all and left to brave the open desert to find another place to dig.

Momo, like the others, was keeping herself busy digging up artifacts in the dried oasis bed. While lately she had tried to stay away from anything that might make her seem childish, she had a valid excuse for following along with Naseera's idea.
She was unbearably hot and thirsty.
Mouth dry, eyes stiff and skin heated, the lioness was looking to do anything to keep her mind off the lack of water. There was a lot she could endure being born in that pride, but her main weakness often threatened to undo her--over-thinking.
Trying her best to focus on the task at hand, Momo pretended like she was having fun and shoveled her paws through the muck. Her claws touched something stone-like, and a few more swipes revealed a fragmented tablet. Looking pensive, the lioness pulled it out from its hiding place to examine it in the sunlight more closely.

The warthog cocked an ear at the lions. His hearing was still sharp and while he didn’t understand most of the lions’ nattering, he did know that whatever they were after had to be very valuable to them. Trinkets, treasure, nonsense of that nature. He had better concerns, such as surviving in the heat and fending off predators such as themselves, but it was amusing to think he could perhaps trade something in this mud pit for a short period of safety from them. Not prone to laughing, he grunted at the irony and dug his nose into the mud once more.
